Star Wars: The United Terran Federation

Chapter 15: The Rescue by Force

34 BBY / September 2057

Planet of Coruscant

In the early hours of the day, some said that the sun rises where beautiful on the planet of artificial construction. Or at least that's what some people say on the one end of the planet's economic spectrum.

People in this metalic world begin to both begin to wake up and go to work and prepare to head to bed from their night shifts.

Commoners and trade expanded the vast amount of the planet, either deciding if they strike their fortunes, or securing their places in the slums of society. In this city planet of money, it nevers stays quiet, from the roaring sounds of flying vehicles to the chatter of the civilian population going about their daily lives.

Farther up in the atmosphere, crafts flew up and down, back and forth trying to land and leave the planet.

In orbit, the coruscant defense fleet, tasked to protect the 'heart' of the republic, alongside the planet Golan Space Defense stations was simply sitting around, doing nearly completely nothing.

Since no pirate nor any other threat that would ever dare even threaten the capital of the republic in the last thousions years. It caused the entirety of the Judicial forces to be lazy, and completely unprepared when a Terran fleet charged at incredible speed into the system and in low orbit of the planet.

At first, the defense stations and ships didn't even notice the Terran ship entering the system. With ships entering and leaving the system constantly, it was hard to track all of the ships.

Eventually, the crews started to notice that the terran ships were in the system. When asked, the commanders of the fleet either dismissed the reports or just plainly believed that there was nothing to worry about, because, no one had ever dared attack Coruscant (and they had also been given orders from the chancellor to give the terrans as much leeway as possible).

However, a few commanders started to get nervous after the terrans also launched a fighter escort. They attempted to find out what to do, but their superiors were either still asleep, tired from the long night or just didn't know exactly what to do.

Commanders soon started to panic.

The Terran's had raised their shields and while they didn't power up their weapons, they did launch numerous gunships and troopships towards the vast cityscape of the planet's surface.

When one of the commanders of the Coruscant defense fleet was able to muster just enough courage and asked the Terran task force what they were doing here. The Terran Admiral's response was quick, decisive, strong and straight forward.

"To all republic forces, this is Admiral Gamble of the Terran Federation. We are in the mites of a Hostage rescue operation down on the surface of the planet below. Any attempt to stop us or render aid to Hostage takers will be considered an act of aggression and war."

He quickly added on to his threat of war, stating in a low voice. "Be careful with your next choice, because if you dare try to stop me from completing my mission, I got plenty of nukes. All of them are primed and ready."

The republic commanders, even the arrogant core system privileged commanders who were too afraid to dare make a move upon the Terran fleet, did the only reasonable thing they could do.

They withdrew and asked their superiors what to do next.

Coruscant Airspace

Same time

Terran transports and gunships came from upon high, diving down at speeds that would be considered illegal to most civilians.

They dived nearly straight down from low orbit, in a ball of fire towards the many flying towards the many skyways and skylanes.

The civilians of Coruscant, going about there every day almost completely didn't notice the Terran ships.

The few who did notice were intrigued to see the large group of unknown craft in the sky and as they pointed and kept staring, others soon also noticed.

Unsure what was happening, some tried to follow while others attempted to follow them, while the rest just went about their Business.

Of the ones who tried to follow them, the Coruscant police were among them, with lights and sirens on high speed prostitutes.

Several hover police vehicles attempted to pull over the Terran military craft, with no success.

One of them was forced back after trying to get right in front and blocking them, only to receive a few high powered guns to target them, making them pull back for self preservation.

The Terran craft soon arrived at their destination…

The Jedi Temple.

As they landed, Terran Army Troopers and Navel Marines started to deploy around the stairway to the entrance to The Jedi temple, finding as many cover positions as possible.

Armored Cars, IFV's, APC's and Tanks soon also deployed, taking up positions with their weapons aimed at the great temple.

As they finished unloading Troops and supplies, they made their way back to the ships in orbit so that the second wave could land.

As most of the second wave started to land and deployed, a small detachment began to set up a perimeter around the staging area to keep out the civilians and local authorities.

As Coruscant police units started to arrive, one officer walked up to one of the Terran soldiers who was a sergeant and began to demand answers of what they were doing and why.

"Sir, this is an active military combat zone. Please leave the area sir."

"What are you talking about, this is a public space and - " "Sir, I won't ask you again, please leave the area or we will escort you out of here."

Having enough of the Terran, the Coruscant cop attempted to cuff the marine, however the Terran had better close combat training, forcing the officer back away from him as both of them raised their weapons to one another.

"Stand down, Now." Demanded the Terran.

The core cop, pissed off was just about to fire a stun bolt at the Terran Marine, hearing numerous sounds of metal bolts being primed.

As the Coruscant Patrol man began to look around him, he nearly wet himself.

Nearly five dozen Terran men (some in cover while others just standing), fully armed and aiming there weapons at him and his fellow officers.

Seeing the Fear in the Republic man's eyes, the Terran spoke once again, demanding that they back away and stand down.

With the real possibility of imminent death and having no real choice, they put their weapons back in their holsters and retired themselves back to their hover car, not waiting to start a fire fight.

Now with republic forces forced away peacefully and their position secured in front and around the many exits around the temple, Operation Young Freedom was moving to the next phase.

Something that the Admiral in orbit would take care of personally.

Terran Embassy

Planet of Coruscant

Same Time

"-with the Trade Federation trial coming to a conclusion, it appears, even with the evidence provided by the Terrans, Judge Vane has ruled in favor of the Trade Federation and all charges dropped. Back to you Darial."

Ambassador Terrance Ford shook his head in disappointment.

For the last five months, republic prosecutors had been going after the Trade on the crime of piracy, and truth be told, they were making some headway.

That was until some bigshot lawyer that they hired pushed for all the evidence to be dismissed just because most of it wasn't gathered from anyone from the republic. And the Judge agreed.

That's when the whole trial came apart.

With nearly all the evidence dismissed, it was just a matter of time before the court case was dismissed.

At least, they did have the last laugh on one thing.

No Trade federation affiliated ship or company was allowed in Terran Space.

While this would limit economic expansion for the Federation in some cases, it was well believed that it would be safer for the Terran people if we could keep these Bigwig Corporate bastards away from Terran space with the Threat of the navel. So far it is working out very well.

While a large portion of the big corporations were banned from Terran Space (mainly because of their close relationship with the Trade), a very large amount of the galaxy's mid to small sized companies were lining up to see what fortunes they could make in Terran space.

He had only recently finished up all the paperwork in regards to allowing them to do business in Terran space.

Having had enough of the news for the day, he took leave from his work for a little while along with his secretary for some lunch.

After they both had ordered what they would have for lunch (he was going to get a cheeseburger with fries while his very helpful secretary had salad) and enjoyed it, the Ambassador decided to ask what was left on his itinerary for the rest of the day.

"Well sir, you have your one o'clock appointment with the Chancellor Valorum (if I'm not mistaken, it's about the Federation senate continuing decision against joining the Republic for the foreseeable future).

Next on the list, you have a three o'clock meeting with the senator of Carida who would like to propose an exchange program between our naval academy on Earth and the Judicial Academy on Carida.

And lastly, you have dinner meeting with Corellian Engineering Corporation in regards to new business opportunities and the such at six."

Thinking About the existing day coming up he was just about to ask his secretary a question (he was wondering how many times does he need to explain to him about why), when the head of the Embassy barged in with a worried look on his face.

"What's going on?" Asked Ford.

Instead of giving him a full response, he turned on the news.

"As you can see Darial, Terran troops have completely surrounded the Jedi Temple in what can only be called a siege. Tanks, Armored vehicles and other heavy military equipment can be found in large numbers, all seemingly all prepared to not only attack, but complete a full out assault on the Temple."

Terrence watches the Republic news, being shocked at what he was seeing.

Nearly a battalion of Terran army and marines troops could be seen, preparing to launch an attack with what appeared to be a full military strike, and it scared him.

Why scared him two fold.

One, he simply didn't know what was going on, therefore had no idea what to do.

Two, whatever required the response of Terran military to this magnitude was very imported, and he was in the complet dark.

"When we asked some of the Terran Troops here, they said that, I quote 'In regards to the rescue operations, The Admiral will be making an announcement shortly' unquote."

Rescue Operations? What the hell was going on, why would an Terran navy admiral be here and why would they be wanting to make an announcement.

It didn't take long before the republic news provided him answers to his questions.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, were receiving a transmission on all channels from the Terran fleet in orbit of Coruscant. In a moment we will be hearing the Terran commander explain his or her actions at the Temple."

Soon, a tall Terran Rear-Admiral came upon the video feed. He knew who it was, anyone from Terran space would know. It was Admiral Christopher Gamble.

"Good Morning. My name is Rear-Admiral Christopher Gamble. As many of you have noticed and have seen, Terran forces have completely surrounded the Jedi Temple and are preparing to siege it. This is not an invasion. This is a military Rescue Operation.

A few days ago, a Jedi Knight by the name of Adaha Corr, forcibly kidnapped a ten month old Terran child and attempted to murder her parents. While I would love to get ahold of this Jedi criminal, my immediate concern is with the Terran hostage within the Jedi Temple.

While I would love to get the child back with her parents without bloodshed, I am, by any means necessary, willing to do whatever it takes to free the hostage by force of arms if need be.

Therefore, the Jedi Order now has a two hour deadline to release the child, or else my forces will storm the temple, with an order to kill anyone who attempts to impede the rescue operation. There will be no negotiations. If any republic forces attempt to stop or impede the rescue operation, the same will go for them.

And I would also like to inform you all that this operation is being conducted without the permission, approval or knowledge of my government and I take full responsibility of my actions and of my forces, both in space and on the ground. The Jedi Order now has One hour and fifty-eight minutes to now release the Hostage. Good day."

Having seen the announcement from the Famous Terran Admiral, the Ambassador can only have three he could do.

"Send a message back to earth, inform them of what's happening. Then get a message to Gamble, get all the details from him.

Then after that, get me an immediate audience with the Chancellor's, I got to do damage control fast."

Forty-Four Minutes Later

Chancellor's Office

"And for the last time Chancellor, I have absolutely no control over the Admiral since he's made this a Military operation, I can't do anything except talk with all to find out what's happening."

For the last Half-Hour, the Ambassador had been in a three vs one, near shouting match between Ford and two Jedi Council members and Chancellor.

"Then you could talk with the Admiral and convince him to stand down." Asked Valorum.

Shaking his head, The Terran Responded in a sour tone. "I already asked him, and he told me not to even bother, that the only way he would stand down would be the release of the child." Then turning his head to the Jedi, with the already sour tone in his voice along with a touch of rage, he continued. "In any case, I have to ask what excuses do you have for taking the baby in the first place."

"The youngling has a strong connection to the force, therefore in the best interest of the child we-" "Best interest my ass, your people attacked that child's family, then kidnap the kid to be raised in your temple of warrior monks. Don't your people realize that by taking that child, it could be considered an attack on the Federation, you might have just started a war between our two nations?"

"It was the will of the force that led us to the youngling so she could become a Jedi."

Having enough of being passed back and forth, stating the same thing of not liking Terran Troops on Coruscant and that they no right being here, completely ignoring the fact that the Jedi had not only violated another nations borders and kidnaped one of its citizens, along with attempted to kill two citizens, he decided to make a call.

Grabbing his Holo com, he started to place a call to the communications channel that his secretary had been able to get for him before the meeting.

"Who are you calling Mr. Ambassador?" Asked The Chancellor.

The Terran just ignores him as he finishes contacting someone on the Terran communications channel.

Upon finishing, a young man, in a Terran Officers Uniform (an ensign he believed), appeared on the holo table.

"Attention unknown caller, this is a restricted military communications channel, Identify yourself or this line will terminate."

Gathering himself, the ambassador began to speak to the young Terran Officer. "This is Ambassador Ford from the Terran Embassy, get me Admiral Gamble."

The Terran Naval Officer responded in a neutral tone. "Sorry sir, Admiral Gamble is in his quarters resting, he's given orders not to be disturbed until the deadline."

Surprise filled his face for a moment before he composed himself. "I don't care about what he said, put me through to him right now."

"Sorry sir, no can do." Was the only response.

Getting ticked off and this officer, he continued. "Then inform him that Ambassador Ford along with the Chancellor of the Republic along with two Jedi Council members would like to have a word with him, he might change his mind."

The Com officer, deciding to give it a try, gave a nod and attempted to get his boss on the line.

The Ambassador turned his head, and explained what he was up to.

"Master Jedi, Chancellor. Since I can't get you to listen to me I thought it would be best to let the man explain himself and make you listen."

Before anyone could speak, the Terran Officer returns and looks towards the Ambassador.

"Well sir, the Admiral said no."

Bewildered at the answer, he had only one response to the Statement.

"What?"

"The Admiral Said No."

Wanting to make sure he was hearing this right, He asked again. "So the Admiral Said no."

"Well, not exactly."

Getting fed up at the Terran Officer, he raised his voice. "Then what did he say exactly, Ensign!"

"Well sir, it would be a little rude and disrespectful to say, sir."

"I don't care if he call the whole Universe a piece Sh**, just tell me what he said!" Rored the man, making both republic politicians and Jedi alike shake in slight fear of the power of his voice.

"Well sir, the Admiral said, and I quote, 'Tell them I don't give a…' rodents rear ' what they want to say, unless they are to release the Hostages, they can' uh… suck a guys reproduced organ 'for all I care.' Unquote." Said the Officer, giving the statement a slight change for political correctness while not trying to throw insults at the people at the other side of the Com's.

Getting tired of both the Officer, Chancellor and Jedi, he began to speak again. "Could you please inform the Admiral, that if he would be so kind as to talk with the Jedi and the Chancellor, we might be able to end this crisis before any more blood is spilled."

It was his last shot to get the Admiral on the line and talk with these people, and maybe just maybe, prevent a war and get the kid back home.

A few moments later the Ensign returned to the holo projector.

"The Admiral will be on the line with you in a few moments, Mr Ambassador."

Sighing in relief, the Terran Diplomat said his thanks to the young officer.

Tenth Terran Frigate Squadron: Part of Task Force Rescue

Martin class Frigate: TFS Apollo

In orbit of Planet of Coruscant

In the Quarters of Admiral Gamble with a Holo meeting with Republic Chancellor Office

Two minutes later

Christopher Gamble was dead tired.

He hadn't had a moment's rest for over forty-eight hours since the start of this mission. He was Nervous and Scared about the Rescue Operation. This was the First major operation he had taken care of all by himself.

While he had been a part of a few operations involving pirates, this was the first time he had commanded ships without even being in combat during an operation of such significance.

The significance being the great gamble he was doing, risking starting a war between the federation and republic just to save a single child.

Any other person or commanding officer would just inform command and let the higher ups deal with it.

Not Gamble. It was like a gut instinct, pushed farther with the rage he felt with his failure to protect the people he swore an oath to protect, to chance the Jedi kidnappers to the ends of the universe to get that kid back to her home, with her loving parents, by the kid's side.

So that's why he was here, about to talk with the Chancellor of the republic and some unknown members of the Jedi Council.

Adjusting his uniform for the last time, he put on the face of a stone cold professional of a navy officer, before opening the Holo Com Channel.

In moments, four figures appeared on the Holo Table in the Admiral Quarters. The First Two, in their Brown and Gray Robes respectively were the Two Jedi Jedi Council (Who's names he didn't know of and didn't really care to know), along with the feeling of superiority. The next one was the Republic Chancellor (Finis Valorum if he remembered his intelligence reports correctly).

The last person who appeared in the blue colour of the Holo table was the man who he only talked with just a short while ago. Ambassador Terrance Ford.

"Ambasador, Gentleman. Are the Jedi going to release the Hostage?" Asked Gamble, almost completely ignoring any and all pleasantries.

"Admiral Gamble, as Chancellor of the Galactic republic, I am requesting you to withdraw…" The Terran Admiral interrupted, "I respectfully refuse."

The only response that could be mustered by the chancellor was, "Why?"

"Why? You already know why. Unless the hostage is released and given back to terran custody, the troops and ships stay, and if necessary, launch an assault on the Jedi Temple to Rescue the child."

"I don't think that is necessary Admiral, I'm sure we can come to some reasonable agreement."

"Did the Jedi attempt to be reasonable when he tried to kill two Federation civilians?"

Silence filled the room.

After a few moments of nothing, the Terran Commander Turned to the Two Jedi and asked one Question.

"Are you going to release the hostage, Yes or No?"

"It was the will of the force that the youngling was taken to the Temple. And it is the will of the force that she becomes a Jedi." Was the response.

"I'll tell you now Jedi, that space magic mumble jumble only works on thought's who believe and respect you. I don't believe or respect you Jedi. Now, one last time, Are you going to release the hostage, Yes or No?"

"It is the will of the force that leads her to the Jedi Temple. It is now her home."

Without missing a beat, The Terran turns to his fellow Terran and Spoke calm and collectively.

"Sorry for not being able to help Mr. Ambassador." Turning to addresses the other Three. "You have One Hour and ten minutes to change your mind and release the hostage or else."

"Or else what."

"Or else the blood of hundreds will be on your hands." Ended the Terran, cutting the Holo Call.

Soon after the call ended, he slammed his fist onto the table.

The Arrogance of the Jedi just enraged him. He so wanted to strangle the life out of those nutcases.

Unknowingly, a data pad on his desk in front of started to shake.

At first it started to lightly shake, then faster and faster to the point where the screen started to crack and shader.

Seeing what was happening in front of him, he took a moment to calm down, clear his mind and collect himself. The pad immediately stopped shaking.

As he sat back in his seat, he looked at the clock and noticed how much time was left.

'Just over an Hour until my gamble is called.'

In a dark room, an even darker present awaits the call of his master.

In moments, a figure appears on the Holo table in front of the kneeling Sith apprentice and speaks in a soft yet powerful voice.

"Rise my Apprentice."

As the lesser Sith, Darth Sidious raised his head, and as he did, he looked right into the eyes of his master.

"Tell my apprentice, why do you request my presence?"

"My master, about an Hour ago, Terran forces have surrounded the Jedi Temple and have demanded the release of a youngling that apparently the Jedi took from a Terran world a few days ago or they will lay siege to the temple. I thought it best to inform you immediately."

"Good thinking my apprentice. unfortunately, this radical action by the Terrans could derail and force us to push the Grand plan back many years if a war breaks out because of this."

"I thought the Grand Plan was to start a war, My master." Question Sidious.

"Indeed my apprentice. However, the war must be a controlled one, one where we have full control of both sides and where there will be no uncontrolled variables. That way, we can ensure the destruction of the Jedi and the rise of a new Sith Empire."

"Of course master, but this radical actioning out could be used advantage?"

After a moment of consideration, Plagues replied. "It is possible, however, we must remain Cautious and not over-extend our resources and influence."

"In the meantime, attempted to persuade the chancellor to order the Jedi to release the child. One youngling is not worth a War, at least for now."

Forward Command Center

Jedi Temple Perimeter

Two minutes left on the Deadline

Major Nathaniel Green was the last piece of calm of the storm of causes, as troops went to their staging position and prepared to assault the Temple.

He was a simple man at heart, only joined the army because of the good pay and the fact that he enjoys guns and physical exercise.

He quickly rose through the ranks with his leadership and communication skills and was given command of a small Company on the Terran world of New Gibraltar.

He honestly believed that he would live a peaceful life chasing after the slackers in his Army Company.

unfortunately, his plan of peace and quiet was ruined because of the pirate attacks and the kidnapping of the child.

That last reason is why he was here, in front of the temple, ready to attack in a full frontal assault, M26 Main Battle Rifle in his hands, locked and loaded and ready to fight.

One of the man's Lieutenants walked up to him and saluted.

"Sir."

"Lieutenant, how's the troops morale?"

"They're nervous but ready. I think a few are annoyed that the Jedi interrupted their plans. Heard one squad was planning to spend a night at a sports bar and get hammered last night but, well, you know the rest."

"Yeah, I know." The Major said, Sighing.

A few moments later, his junior looked at his watch before speaking up. "One minute left until the deadline sir, better get back to my post." Saluting before heading back to his post.

Taking a swig out of his canteen (with some good stuff), before he walks back up to the frontline, Battle Rifle in hand.

As he stands along with his troops, taking a look at their stone cold faces as they prepare themselves to storm the temple.

He checks the watch.

'Twenty seconds until the deadline.' Thought the old man.

As more and more seconds passed, the breathing of everyone began to slow.

'15 seconds left.'

News crews watch in silence, waiting for the spark of battle to ignite.

'10 seconds.'

Machine Gun bolts are heard being pulled back, waiting to spray hundreds of bullets into the large Temple.

'8 seconds.'

Terran Army Troopers hold their breaths, as they aim their weapons at the large doors.

'Three seconds.'

Just before time was up, the large temple doors opened, revealing a Temple guard, in his white armor, walking out, with something in hand.
