The weather can't make up its mind. Some days it's warm and sunny, other days it's chilly and cloudy. Today happens to be the latter. Adam groans softly as he wakes up, shivering a little and squinting out at the grey New York skyline. Huffing, he tries to maneuver himself upright, wanting something warm to drink or wear or something, still too sleepy to properly think it through, when something warm and familiar coils around his waist and draws him in, pulling him back under the blankets and holding him close.
Adam exhales and curls his fingers around the wrist wrapped around him, humming under his breath. He misses traveling, sometimes, he misses hanging out backstage and getting lost in the bustle. He misses when rehab wasn't a chore, when every step didn't hurt and leave him breathless, when life was just easy. Hanging out with Max, laughing and playing video games, going to trampoline parks, doing a bunch of crazy shit just to amuse himself.
Max shifts behind him, cuddles closer, then mumbles, "You ok?"
"Yeah," Adam says softly. "Just a little cold."
Max hums. Tucks him in tighter, then makes sure they're both cocooned in the blankets. "One plus of neither of us needing to travel," he sighs, nuzzling into Adam's hair. "We can avoid bad weather and just sleep."
Adam chuckles. "Lazy," he teases fondly, tracing slow shapes against Max's forearm. "But yeah. It's the only bearable part of all of this." He rolls over, careful not to undo Max's work, and examines Max's relaxed face, smiling fondly as he brushes a finger over Max's lips. "You're the only bearable part."
"Charmer," he sighs, kissing Adam's fingertips as he peeks an eye open at him. "Can't get back to sleep?"
"No, and I don't want to keep you awake either," Adam says, lightly pressing a hand against Max's arm as he holds on to him.
Max sighs and shifts around, readjusting so he's more comfortable as Adam moves with him. "I'm awake now," he admits. "But I'm comfortable and don't want to get up. Does that make sense?"
"Yeah," Adam says with a chuckle. "I'm alright with staying here for a little longer. You've convinced me."
Max smirks, pressing a loud kiss to the side of Adam's face. "You say that like it's difficult," he teases.
"Hmph," Adam sighs, pressing his face to Max's shoulder and just breathing. "This is nice," he mumbles, letting his eyes close. Not tired, but just resting in the warmth and comfort of Max next to him.
"It is, I agree," Max murmurs, brushing his fingers through Adam's hair as they enjoy each other's presence, the relaxing silence around them, having a full day without rehab or anything else expected of them where they can just remain here.
