One day in Quig Quig City, China, a luminescent baby was born with the extraordinary ability to shine as brightly as the sun, marking the world's first known Quirk phenomenon.

Soon, all across the globe, children started to awaken to these strange phenomenons. Some are born with the ability to possess superhuman strength, the ability to control fire, or the rare few that can heal from almost any type of wounds or disease, changing the world as it was, slowing down the progress of humanity for a time, and causing the world to plunge itself into chaos, spreading throughout the entire globe as it emerges like a raging storm upon the world. But, during those dark times, a profession quickly emerged, fighting to protect the peace as it dominated the collective consciousness of the masses and rekindled in the hearts of many, only mentioned in comics or manga.

Heroes.

Those who took up the mantle as heroes helped in maintaining peace and order; even if they were not fully on the side of the law, their popularity quickly spread, creating a new superhuman society where it soon became the most popular profession in the world.

When heroes first appeared, they were first known as vigilantes, individuals who were rejected by the law in an era when superhuman abilities were common and who mostly used their abilities for power, causing widespread fear, but these individuals protected the peace and the helpless, shining a light in their darkest of times.

Thus, the Golden Age of Heroes was born, changing the world as it was. As time passed, the term superhuman was then changed to what it is now known as quirks. Believing that it was a natural evolutionary ability for humankind, locked away in our gene pool. But still, little was known about quirks and how they came to be, aside from the select few who knows their true dark origins.

Quirkless boy's hope, Chapter One

"No way you got the card with Endeavour; that's so cool!" said a young boy with ecstatic amusement. "Haaah, that's not fare; I wanted one like those too! Cards like All-Might and Endeavour are always super hard to find, with All-Might being the rarest of the bunch," said his friend, who resembled a bear due to the fur and distinct similar features on his body as Aoki looked at his card, happy with his find. "Endeavour is the coolest!".

"Hahahahah, I can't believe you liked Endeavour more than All-Might. I get he is cool and all, but he is no All-Might." "Hey Aoki, come on, please trade with me!" Walking out of the convenience store, they converse with each other as his friend continues to try and pester Aoki about trading his card. "I get that a lot of people don't like Endeavour because of how mean he can get, but...he is super cool," he said, looking at the card he received of Endeavour. "When my quirk manifests, I'll become a strong Hero figure like him when I'm older," said Aoki, dodging from his other friend as he tried to snatch his card away. "Whatever you say, when my quirk fully awakens, I too will become a Hero, one more famous and powerful than All-Might!" But Aoki was not paying attention; instead, he looked at his watch and quickly took off after noticing the time. "I'll see you guys on Monday!" Aoki shouted. "Heeey! I still wanted to trade." "Next time! I promise! I'll trade my Edgeshot card with you!" shouted Aoki, leaving his friends behind. "But I wanted the one with Endeavour," pouted his friend. Looking at Aoki's back, his bear-like friend glared at him. "Tsh! You stupid gaijin."

Arriving home, Aoki quickly made his way in front of the living room TV, slamming the door loudly as he made his way there ecstatically, much to his mother's annoyance. "Don't slam the door!" She shouted, but was happy to see her son arrive home on time. "Hmmmm, let me guess, Endeavour?" aked his mother nonchalantly, drying her hands off upon an apron wrapped around her body and making her way to her son. "Yes please!" Aoki waited in anticipation as his mother changed through the channels, stopping when she heard the news mention the number two Hero Endeavour.

Looking onto the screen, Aoki can't help but feel excited over the number two Hero, as he was fighting against a sand villain in a construction site.

Walking into the kitchen, Aoki's father startled his wife while she was cooking. "Ah! Alton! Don't do that! hahahahahah!" They laughed together as they shared a loving kiss. "How did the job hunt go? Did you get any buyers for your inventions?" "Unfortunately, no. No one wants to work with an ex-convict," she exhaled, disappointed in hearing the news. "At least I still have my job as a firefighter; I can do a lot of good there," he said proudly. "When are you going to tell him? Mom and I are not too sure yet, but he still hasn't shown any sign of developing our quirk. He needs to know if he is-. People will start to treat him differently," said his wife, with a momentary pause. "I will, but I don't want to crush any dreams of his; their is a lot of fire in that kid of our's eyes, and I can see him becoming a better man than I was, so you shouldn't worry; he has my smarts and you and your mom's fiery nature, hahahahah," laughed Aoki's father, giving his wife a reassuring smile as he slouches down onto the kitchen counter, looking at his son proudly.

Transfixed at the screen, Aoki watched with admiration as Endeavour fought against the villain.

While trying to escape, the villain tricked Endeavour into attacking him as he used his quirk to twist the sand around them into his body, turning himself into a sand tornado and trapping Endeavour within himself as spikes slowly swung their way towards Endeavour. The villain laughed, believing that it was over. But Endeavour used his signature move, Jet Burn!, to burst his way free as he swiftly knocked out the villain in the process and landed beside him as the villain lay unconscious. "You never stood a chance against someone of my stature!" commented Endeavour as his fans chaired through the television.

Aoki jumped up with excitement over his victory and mimicked Endeavour's stance. "When I get my quirk!! I'll become someone as strong and cool as Endeavour!!" declared Aoki with a proud smile, laughing in anticipation. "Hahahahahaha!".

"Authors Notes", In case you guys get a bit confused, Soba means Grandmother in Japanese culture; at least that's what Google says :)-

The next day.

"I'm sorry, Mis. Sindriobi, but looking at his X-rays, it doesn't look like your son is ever going to develop a quirk." What the doctor said reverberated through out Aoki's core, causing him to drop the card he held of Endeavour as his mother picked it up for him. "I see, we kind of speculated that was the case already, but….. we wanted to confirm if it was true or not," said his mother, trying to comfort her son. "The record we have of you and your parents shows that your father was once quirkless, and it shows that your husband doesn't possess a quirk either; looking at the charts here, I doubt your son will ever develop a quirk in the future, but you should consider this as a good thing, seeing how unstable your family flames are." "Thank you, doctor, but we were kind of just hoping," bowed his mother as they left his office. "Poor kid, it's going to be tough being born quirkless in a society that values people with powers."

Aoki, back at his school, still held a smile on his face, not wanting the news of being born without a quirk to let him down. Looking at the card he held of Endeavour, he quietly asked him. "It shouldn't matter if I do have a quirk, right? I still can become a Hero," he said to himself, but looking around his classroom, he couldn't help but become disheartened at the kids his age, using their quirks when he possessed none. 'No! It doesn't matter if I do have one. Like dad always says, obstacles, doubts, and mistakes; with hard work, there are no limits to what I can achieve.' Declared Aoki as he shook his head and clenched his fist, deciding that he was not going to give up on becoming a Hero, with his friends then approaching him with their new-found powers.

"Check this out; our quirks fully manifested!" said his bear-like friend as his paws grew bigger with retractable claws, showing off more of his bear-like features, with his other friend flattening out his torso thin like a piece of paper as he twisted his body upward, surprising Aoki as he watched with amazement at their abilities. "Woooow, that's so coool!" "Heheheheheh, Jealous," the other boy chuckled as he showed off his quirk. "Come on, show us your quirk! Is it a strong fire type like your grandmother?!" They waited, looking to see if Aoki was going to use his power. "Well, I don't; I don't have one," said Aoki quietly. He catches his bear-like friend's attention as he shows a malice smirk and begins laughing. "Hahahahah, it almost sounds like you said you don't have a quirk?!" gathering everyone's attention, causing them to murmur among each other as well as his two teachers in surprise. "Shssssh! not so loud." "No way, your actually quirkless! Hahahahahhah!!" laughed his two friends. "You don't have to declare it to the entire class! Why are you guys being so mean?!" shouted Aoki, causing his classmates to laugh along with them, confirming it was true. "Stop it! You guys are being mean!!" He shouted, but his plea was met with a deaf ear, including from his teachers, who were chuckling along.

His friends continue to make fun of him. "Who doesn't have a quirk these days? I thought you said you might develop a firebase quirk like your mother or Soba?! hahahahah?" "I guess that will make him a fossil! Or a dinosaur?! Hahahahah!" " No, that will be an insult to people who do have dinosaur-like quirks." "I guess you will have to give up your dream of becoming a Hero now, Hey Aoki." said his friend that can twist his body, causing Aoki to become more enraged as everyone chuckled at their jokes, finding them amusing.

Shouting at the top of his lungs, Aoki declared, "SO WHAT IF I'M QUIRKLESS?! I STILL CAN BECOME A HERO WITHOUT A QUIRK!!!". Surprising his class and his two friends, everyone began to burst out in laughter. "Hahahahah! Don't be delusional! You! Becoming a Hero?! If you had a quirk, I suppose it could have happened, but now, you are just nothing but a helpless and worthless, nobody!" "Hahahahahah!". Aoki punches his friend in the face, causing him to fall onto his back in pain surprise, as everyone was shocked. "You…. y-you punched me? HAAAAA!!! YOU QUIRKLESS NOBODY!!!" He quickly lunges back up with red eyes and palms Aoki to the wooden floor with enough force to break the ground beneath them as he simultaneously retracts his claws to slash Aoki's left shoulder and chest, causing him to spray blood, knocking him unconscious as blood splashed onto the other students, shocking them and his teachers, causing them to panic and quickly restrain his friend from attacking.

Aoki looked up with a blurry vision, perplexed by the chaos that unfolded around him as his heart sank, staring at his friend while his teachers struggled to keep him from continuing his attacks. "You stupid gaijin! You're a worthless nobody! You hear me! Don't go thinking you're better than me?!!" his friend raged as his words were laced with venom.

"Why?" Aoki asks himself, perplexed by the events that have led up to this point, his voice barely a whisper in the clamor of the classroom. His question was tinged with sorrow. 'Is this because I don't have a quirk?' A single tear escaped from Aoki's eye as his vision went dark.

One week later.

Waking up from his injuries, Aoki feels a jolt of pain on his left shoulder as he finds it hard to move and open his eyes, which feel worn. Suddenly, he overhears his parents arguing with his principle. "Like I said, I heard everything from the teachers and the students on the situation, and they told me your son attacked the boy first, unprovoked. I am very sorry for what happened to your son, but due to his actions, he will no longer be attending my school." "This is bullshit! My son was severely injured by that boy, who was one of his closest friends I mind you, and now you're going to expel HIM!" "You haven't even heard his side of the story; all we know is that they could be lying!" said his mom. "I know my son, and he wouldn't have attacked anyone unprovoked." "Please, I'm telling you, at least wait to hear his side of the story!" His mother pleaded. "I've heard everything that I need to hear from everyone who witnessed it; they said that your son was warned about his friend quirk going out of control if he gets angry, and your son punched him to see if that was the case, triggering his friend to go on a rampage leading up to what happened now; your lucky no one got hurt or press any charges against your family." "I'm telling you! to at least hear his side of the story! don't make things harder for his future than it needs to be!" His father pleaded as he bowed to the floor. " I've made up my mind, and it's not like your son has a future to begin with, being born quirkless and all, so it would just be a waste of my time," said the principle as it enraged his father, causing the principle to quiver, feeling an overwhelming aura that almost felt suffocating to him. Holding her husband's hands, she then looked to the principle. "Thank you, but it will be best if you leave," she said as the principle quickly exited their room, fearing for his life.

'Why' Aoki asked himself, shedding a tear as his vision went dark.

Another week went by, and Aoki was free to go home from the hospital, thanks to the healing power of his Soba's, which recovered the shaddered clavise bone and upper rib cage in his body much quicker than traditional means.

After leaving the hospital, his parents tried to speak to him, saying what happened was not his fault, but he hadn't said a word to them. When they arrived home, he locked himself in his room concerning his parents.

Going through videos of All-Might and Endeavour, Aoki feels lost and angry about the people he believed were his friends and his teachers. He wanted to throw something, but most of all, he felt numb.

"Can I still become a Hero?" He asked himself as he came across a video with a vigilante named Blaze Heart, whom he often sees on the news, but this time Blaze Heart grabbed his attention. "Is it true you don't possess a quirk and solely rely on support items?" asked the reporters, surprising Aoki, never knowing the vigilante was Quirkless. Using a support item to tie a villain upside down, he turns to the reporters.

The man the news reporters were calling Blaze Heart was a tall man with broad shoulders. His most noticeable features that stood out to Aoki were his all-white mask with red lines, two horns that were sticking out from his forehead, which seemed to be attached to the mask, and steam that released from his mouth, including Support Items on both his arms resembling gauntlets, which released a small amount of steam as well.

"Don't you know its illegal to perform Hero work without a license?" The reporter glared at him, trying not to be intimidated by his large appearance. "As far as I know, there are no laws preventing me," said Blaze Heart as the reporter continued to question him. "Its not like you are getting paid or any support from the people you saved; do you know the rating about you since you arrived? They say you're just a nuisance doing the jobs for the real pros, or you constantly get in the way. Tell me, Do you think you can still continue to do Hero work when so many people you saved hate your middling in the duties of the real pros?" "Hahahahah, you really want to know, why? Okay, I'll tell you, a great man once told me that meddling when you don't need too, is the essence of being a Hero. So yes, I may be a Quirkless individual who doesn't possess any amazing abilities or powers that can attract attention, but I will continue to choose the part of becoming a Hero," he said, disappearing into the dark alley as the reporters continued to chase after him.

What the Hero said gave Aoki a flicker of hope as he decided to leave his room and ask his parents the big question. "Mom, dad, do you think I can still become a Hero?" His head lowered to the ground. He knew it was a stupid question, but he wanted to hear it from them. Seeing how much pain their son was suffering, they looked at each other and nodded as his parents sat him down. "Yes, son, you can become a Hero," said his father as Aoki looked up, surprised at his parents as they gave him a warm and reassuring smile, causing tears to flow down his eyes. "Your father would like to show you something," said his mother as his father's prosthetic arm formed into a gauntlet, surprising Aoki. "Y-Your that Blaze Heart guy?!" Aoki asked in surprise, bewildered, that his father was the vigilante who often appeares on the news. "Yes, I didn't want you to know until I believed it was the right time, and now we believe it is the right time." Said, his father, looking at his wife as he then went on to tell his son why he decided to try and become a Hero, and how he was an infamous villain in America who went by the villain name Blaze, who killed a lot of Heroes in his time but is still trying to fix the sins of his past. He also went on to tell his son that he believed that if someone had believed in him when he was his age, a lot of his past sins could have been avoided. "So yes, my son, I do believe that you can become a Hero, one like no other," said his father, giving hope to his quirkless son.

Author's note

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for reading my first OC fanfic and for the ones who've been here for a while. I've been working on this story for almost a year and a half now, and I've finally got a clear Idea on were I want this fic to go, please follow along to see what I've got plan next!

Also, I hope I've grabbed your attention on how I'm framing my character and what you think might happen next in my story.

This fanfiction of mine is inspired by Lorenzo the Storyteller's, and it takes place in one of his mha fanfics, Breath of a Hero, which you may have already recognized from the title.

If you are a fan of his and wonder that I may abuse his work, please don't worry. I will mostly stray away from the main plot surrounding Izuku to focus more on my OC as he interacts with the main cast.

I can't promise you when the next chapter will be out, but what I can promise is that I am determined to complete this fanfic of mine and improve my writing skills for the future, as I'm trying to become a writer and publish my own stories one day. Until then, please leave me any comments, good or bad; they will be a great motivator for when I'm writing.
