Ch 5 Quality Time with the Kids
Rimuru sat down at his desk, looking over the preparations for the Summer Festival coming soon. There were so many things that need to be done if they were going to make it before the official date.
The Slime sighs, leaning back in her chair. "Every year there are many things to do before the festival." Rimuru turns to Rigurd and Shion who are going over some other preparations for the festival.
"Rigurd, Shion how are things on your end?" The Demon Lord asked his Subordinates about their progress on their end.
Shion placed down the documents and looked at her Lord. "Things are…how should I say…"
"Slow, I mean no ill feelings towards the festival, Rimuru-sama. But being a huge celebration here there are so many things to get done." Rigurd informed his Lord of the work they have for them. "However, if we time things right we might meet our quota."
"And don't forget the many visiting tourists coming." The Wicked Oni reminded the two of the other problem. "Many have heard of our Festivals from our allies, and the people are intrigued to see what's like."
Rigurd nodded, having that thought in his mind. "Aragog-dono and Geld-dono are building a second inn for the tourist. Another item on the docket but I believe those two can handle it just fine." He informed another subject that's on their plate.
Rimuru nodded, understanding what his two Subordinates were saying. "I get that, the Driders do have some talent in structures and construction. I shouldn't expect less of the Monsters with the strongest materials. " He commented about having Aragog's Driders now a part of the Federation community.
"Yes, it's fortunate that Harry-sama brought the Driders here. Extra Labor will always be a good thing." Shion smiles, taking another document to go over.
The Driders are pretty useful not just hauling load. They can also reach things from high places with their Spider abilities and begin construction in hard-to-reach places.
"Aragog-dono's Driders are determined to make Tempest even better than what it is now." Rigurd smiles, happy to have more reliable allies in their Nation. He looks over to the report from Geld of the second inn's construction. "Construction is going well for…"
Rimuru sighs, smiling at how his nation was growing and developing. However, he cannot remember when the last time when he and his children had some quality time. "Rimuru-sama,"
Rimuru looks back at his government officials, hearing his name called. "Rimuru-sama, are you feeling alright?" Shion asked the Rising Star, "I've been trying to get your attention for a while." She explains.
The Demon Lord adjusts himself in his seat, looking back at the two. "Sorry, Shion. I was figuring out how we can fasten the pace. But I can't stop thinking about Harry and Shinsha." Rimuru stated his reason.
"Then why not take the rest of the day to be with the young master and lady," Rigurd suggested to the leader of Tempest.
Rimuru gave a soft smile at his Prime Minister for suggesting a break from the Festival. "I appreciate the offer, Rigurd. But I can't just upright leave you and Shion with planning the Summer Festival by yourselves." The Slime stated,
Shion stood up, "My Lord, things won't go spiraling down with you taking the day off." The War Lord stated, expressing what both she and Rigurd are thinking. "You've been working non-stop since we announced the Festival. A leader like yourself needs rest to lead a nation."
"Shion-dono's right, go and be with the young master and lady. We'll take care of things here for the time being." The Goblin King ensures to his Lord that everything will be alright.
Rimuru nodded, getting down from his seat. "Alright, I guess taking it easy for a while wouldn't hurt a bit." He ponders out loud, going around his desk to the door.
The two government officials nodded, ushering him to leave the building to rest. Rimuru turns to the two, "If there's anything you need or having trouble with, just contact me." Rimuru stated,
"Of course, have a nice day, Rimuru-sama." Rigurd nodded, understanding what he asked.
Soon Rimuru left his office and was now walking on the road to his house. He smiles, greeting people that he passes by on the road.
Eventually, Rimuru made it to his home, where surprisingly there wasn't shouting from Harry's training session or arguments between Harry and Shinsha. "Okay, this is strange. Ceil can you o tell if anyone is inside the house? It's awfully quiet today here,"
{Answer: Magicule Signatures suggest that both the individuals known as Harry and Shinsha are currently in the dining room with the individual known as Veldora.} Ceil informed her master of what was ongoing in his home.
Rimuru walks through the gates of his home, entering the gates to his yard. He turns his head to see his Children with Veldora reading some of his Manga from his collection. "Well…that's unexpected,"
Harry was laying on his stomach, reading a Manga about a Magus and his red-haired bridge. "Wow, this is good." The Arch Mage commented, finishing the Manga, he turns to the Storm King, curious if he has the next volume.
"Uncle Veldora, do you have the next volume?" Harry asked his Uncle sitting beside him, reading his own Manga. "I'm really invested in the story after ready two,"
Veldora's golden eyes peeped out from the Manga he was reading. He looks over to his Nephew asking for something from him. "Mmmm, you have to ask your Father about that. I get all of my Manga from him," He explains to the Arch Mage,
"Papa has so many Manga in his brain of his," Shinsha smiles, looking up from her own at her brother. "He probably will give you it if you asked." The Pink Slime stated,
Harry ponders, hearing the suggestion from both members of his family. "Well…it doesn't hurt to ask."
"Ask me what?" The three turned their heads to the entrance of the living room. Rimuru stood at the entrance, coming inside to meet with them.
"Dad!"
"Papa!"
Veldora sat up properly, looking at his brother from behind his Manga. "Why hello Rimuru. You're home early," The Storm Dragon greeted the Demon Lord of Tempest.
Both Rimuru's children nodded, curious why their Father was home from work early. "Yeah, aren't you busy with the Summer Festival Dad?" Harry asked the blue Slime.
Shinsha nodded, "Is something going on?" She asked,
Rimuru smiles, hearing his family's concern for him being home early. "Nothing's going on, I just figured that since I've gotten the day out, why don't we swim as a family!?"
"Like at the beach?" Harry asked his father, "Slimes can't go into salt water, their bodies will dissolve in the salty environment." He remembers that Diablo taught him the many Monsters' biologies and their weaknesses. Especially about his Family can easily be dissolved in salt water.
Rimuru chuckled, remembering how shocked he was when Shuna told him about his Species' weakness. "Not exactly, there's a large Lake near Tempest that is similar to a beach. But without the salty solution."
Harry nodded, finding that both exciting and fun. He had never been to a Lake where he can just relax and spend time with family, "That sounds fun." He stated,
"Isn't that lake home to a large Lake Snail? The one you look for soft flexible materials for those Rimuru pillows?" Veldora asked the Demon Lord, remembering that event well when he was inside Rimuru.
Shinsha shivers at the thought of the Monster coming up to her and using her for any lude things. "P-Papa, we're not going to that island with the Sarasa…right?" She asked him
Rimuru shook his head at her Daughter's question. "Nope, we're just spending time near the shore, Shinsha." He ensures Shinsha that they're not going after Sarasa.
"Then let's get going, Papa!" Shinsha points to the door, excited to head to the Lake. "The Lake awaits!"
After informing Diablo about their sudden plan, he had Alex, Alexis, and Darius take some supplies and went ahead before them.
Rimuru, Shinsha, Veldora, and Harry stood at the entrance of the forest in their swimwear.
Rimuru wore his usual swimsuit when he was here last time.
Shinsha wore a pink one-piece with white polka dots.
Veldora wore black swim trunks with an image of himself as the Storm Dragon.
For Harry, he wore a green sweatshirt and green swim trunks,
The Tempests saw a small picnic table at the edge of the grass that meets the sand. A small campfire was built near the table and some coolers made by Cold Runes were next to the table.
Waiting for the family was Diablo in red swim trunks and a zipped-up vest.
Both, Rima, Alexis, and Alice were wearing black bikinis, and Darius wearing something similar to Diablo but white.
"Greetings, Rimuru-sama, Harry-sama, Shinsha-sama, Veldora-sama," Diablo inclined his head to the Tempest family, greeting them to the Lake. "As you requested, we've set up the picnic near the lake."
Rimuru smiles, seeing that everything was set up already just as he asked. He looks at the Primordial Demon of Black, appreciating his hard work. Both he and the staff of the household, "Thank you all for doing this on such short notice," He apologized to the Household staff.
"It's our pleaser my Lords and Lady," Diablo and the others incline their heads to their masters.
Harry turns to his Father, "Dad, me and Shinsha want to go in the water for a bit." He informed the Slime of where they were going,
Shinsha smiles, supporting her older Brother's statement. "We won't be long, Papa. We'll be back when Diablo and the others are finished with cooking the food." The Pink Slime stated, wanting to play in the water.
Rimuru looks over to Diablo, wondering when the food will be ready. "The food will be ready in fifteen minutes, my Lord," Diablo informed the Demon Lord.
"Alright, the food would be ready back in fifteen minutes you two," Rimuru said to his children, he watches as they went to the Lake's edge where they went into the water. "Veldora, do you-"
Rimuru paused, seeing the Storm Dragon pull out an umbrella and placed it on the sand. He then placed a blanket on the sand and pulled out a Manga he was reading. "Mmm? Oh, sorry Rimuru but I want to finish this Manga before I go to the water."
The Slime sighs, knowing that Veldora would take his time reading. Both his children and his Staff were busy doing their own thing, pretty much everyone has their own thing to do on this day.
He placed his hands on his side, looking for anything to do. "Well, maybe I sh-"
"Lord Rimuru," Darius steps forward, watching his Lord unsure what to do. Rimuru turns around, hearing his name being called by him. "My Lord, if you're looking for something to do then I suggest you relax. We'll handle everything for you and your family." He ushers the Slime to take it easy.
"I appreciate it, Darius but I don't feel right just leaving everything to you guys," Rimuru stated, wanting to help out in any way possible.
Darius nodded, turning to Rima who overheard their conversation. "My Lord, you've been under stress lately for the Summer Festival." The Lycanthrope states, observing him for the past days since the announcement. "Take the day to recuperate and spend time with the young master and lady,"
Rimuru nodded, hearing the newest member of the Federation urge him to relax. He looks at his two Children near the Lake's edge in the water and sighs. "Maybe some time to lay down would be nice."
The Slime walks over to Veldora, laying on the beach towel he laid out for him. "Taking our staffs' advice, eh Rimuru?" Veldora asked, turning the page.
"Everyone was urging me to take it easy, so instead of making excuses for myself, I take it easy for today." Rimuru sat down on the beach towel, watching his Children bonding in the distance,
Harry knelt down at the shore, touching the water with his finger. He blinks at how the Lake was at the right temperature for swimming. "Wow, it's cold."
Shinsha ran into the Lake, giggling at the waves touching her feet. She splashes around in the water before looking at her Brother. "Onii-san, aren't you coming in? The water's fine!" She kicks the water at him.
"H-Hey!" Harry shielded his face from the splash. He frowns at his Sister giggling at what she did to him. "That's not fair, Shinsha!" He stood up and ran into the water.
Shinsha continued to laugh at her Brother before ultimately getting splashed herself. She blinks, hearing the laughter coming from her older Brother.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Harry laughs before calming down a bit, "Y-You know what? That was funny, you should've seen you're face!" He points at her.
"Onii-san!" The pink Slime puffs her cheers before having a mischievous idea in her mind. She raised her hands in the air before aiming at him. "Hey…Onii-san,"
The Arch Mage looks at his Sister, hearing her calling him. "W-What is-" He paused, seeing what she was doing. "S-Shinsha w-what are y-"
A big explosion of water appeared at the lake,
Rimuru looks up, seeing the pillar of water from where he was sitting. "Ah, Shinsha and Harry must be splashing each other."
{Answer: The pillar of water you see before you a is from your offspring known as Shinsha.} Ceil informed her master of who caused the pillar of water.
"Well, that explains where that pillar came from." Rimuru sighs, noticing how both Harry and Shinsha are getting stronger with their powers,
"Seems like both the kids are becoming stronger," Veldora turned the page of his Manga, "You're doing a good job raising them, Rimuru." He commented.
Rimuru chuckles, feeling proud of his Children's development. "I don't think I have much influence in their development, Veldora." The Demon Lord stated, "All I did was open their path by providing many opportunities for them to take."
Veldora eyes his Brother, listening to him. "And that's what makes you a great parent." The Storm Dragon stated, "You're giving your Children many opportunities to pave their own path," He added while the Children in question continued with their rough playing in the Lake.
Rimuru smiles, taking in his Brother's words to heart. "Thanks, Veldora," He was about to say something when another explosion caught his attention.
The Demon Lord and Storm Dragon looked at the Lake, they saw both Harry and Shinsha tired from exchanging blows with the water. "Maybe…your parenting skills are needed there, Rimuru," Veldora commented, having a feeling if the two continue this rough play then there won't be any Lake to go to next time.
"Hai, Hai," Rimuru got up from the beach towel and headed over to the lake.
Harry huffs heavily and was soaking wet from all of the water his Sister splashed. The same goes with Shinsha, "A-Are you done yet, S-Shinsha?" He asked,
Shinsha chuckles, wiping away the droplets of water from her bangs, "I'm just getting started Onii-san." She smiles, readying for another attack.
"Oh? Well, I'm not giving in just yet." Harry raised his hands, ready to counter his Sister's splash.
The two were about to exchange some water-based attacks when a sudden wave came from the side. Both Siblings looked at the huge wave, unsure which of them cast it. "E-Eh?"
The wave crashed into the two, causing them to be more soaked than previously. They sifted their eyes to the side where their Father was standing in the water with them.
"It seems I got the both of you!" Rimuru laughs seeing his Children soaking wet because of him.
"Papa…" Shinsha glares at her Father for making her wet. "Why do you do that? Both me and Onii-san are now wet." She grumbles towards her Father.
Rimuru chuckles at his Daughter's pouting. "I wanted to join in the fun with you two," He smirks at them.
Harry looks at his Sister, having an idea to get back at their Father. 'Hey, Raphael; what's the chance of Dad catching on with my plan?' He asked his Ultimate Skill, wanting her assistance in this plan of his.
The Ultimate Skill took the small time she has to calculate the chance of the Deam Lord noticing something was up. {Answer: About fifty percent chance, unless you time it right.} Raphael informed her master of the chances he has.
'Alright, thanks.' Harry grins at his Sister while their Father was talking to them.
Shinsha nodded, catching on to what they were going to do to Rimuru. They turned to him, raising their hands in the air. "Hey, Papa,"
Rimuru opens his eyes and saw his Son and Daughter teaming up against him. "Oh?" He smiles at their teamwork. "Using what you learned from your time at the Labyrinth against me? Interesting-"
"HA!" Both Shinsha and Harry combine their waves, creating a big wave that splashed into Rimuru.
It seems that the two Siblings got their Father with their attack, only to discover that he was gone. "W-What the-where did he go!?" Harry looks around the area.
Shinsha was also shocked and was looking around only to see their Father behind her. "Hey sweetie," Rimuru held out his hand, releasing a jest of water right at her.
"Gah!" Harry quickly came over and caught his Sister before she plants her face in the water. They looked at their Father crossing his arms like some Villian.
"Muahahahaha! You can't defeat me you two!" Rimuru laughs, playing with his Children in the Lake.
Harry couldn't help but laugh at his Father's act. He smiles at him, actually having fun with this. "Dad, really? Going for a genic Villain laugh?" He chuckles,
Shinsha giggles, grabbing the Arch Mage's arms. "Oh no! Onii-san, Papa has turned evil!" She jokes, playing along with the Slime's game. "We have to stop him!" She exclaims.
"Yeah we do! Shinsha, you take the defensive and I'll go in head-on!" Harry smiles, running in the water,
"Muhahahahah, you can try but you can't defeat." Rimuru held out his hand once more and released jets of water toward his Children.
Harry smiles, moving his hand to force the water around him to create a shield. "You won't win Dad!" He shouted with joy,
"Ahaha, you can try but I'm more experienced than both of you combine!" Rimuru laughs, enjoying the quality time with the two.
Shinsha jumps out of the water in her Slime form and shot out three water jets from behind.
Rimuru covered his face, letting the water splash him. His eyes turned to Harry also commanding the water to propel at him.
The three continued playing in the water, enjoying the time together. After a good few more minutes, the three left the Lake, drenched from all the water they were splashing around.
They approached the picnic area, and both Alice and Alexis handed the family some towels to dry themselves. "Thanks you two," Rimuru smiles, ruffling his light blue hair dry.
Shinsha and Harry went over to the table where Rima and Darius were setting the food for them.
The two Pale Hobgoblins inclined their heads to their Lord appreciating his compliments. "Our pleasure, my Lord." The two Maids responded, watching as the Slime joined his family.
Veldora soon joined Rimuru, sitting with him while the Children sat across from them. Diablo had the servants serve the food on the table,
Rimuru looks at his Children, partaking in the food, "So, the Summer Festival is coming soon. Got any ideas which Kimonos to wear during the event, you two?" The Demon Lord asked.
"Um, no I haven't…" Harry cleared his throat, this was his first Summer Festival in Tempest. The last one that the Federation held was two weeks before he arrived in this World.
"I'm asking Shuna-san if she has any recommendations on which Kimono to wear." Shinsha turns to her Brother, hearing his plight. "Onii-san, if you don't know what to wear for the Festival then Shuna-san could help you."
"You think?" Harry asked,
Rimuru agreed with his Daughter's statement. "We've been doing this event every year, Harry. I'm sure Shinsha wouldn't mind helping you pick out a Kimono."
Veldora nodded, wanting to join the conversation. "Mmm-mmm, oh yes Shuna has some excellent taste when it comes to clothing. I mean she did give me a few clothes like my swim trunks for today." The Storm Dragon commented.
Harry ponders, seeing that everyone in his family is urging him to see Shuna. "Mmm…maybe I will…" He said, eating some warm curry and devising how to plan to ask his Guardian.
