Chapter 46: The Secret of Light
Ryuzaki sat before the TVs, several new stations reporting the deaths of the day before. He sighed. Another ten people were dead and he wasn't anywhere closer to catching Kira. His mind flashed to Light. He still believed that Light was connected to Kira. Just as he was about to contact Watari when he saw the reflection of green light on the screens before him. He turned around to see a boy with blond hair land before him. The boy looked very surprised. Several thoughts went through Ryuzaki's mind. Two questions sticked out the most. "Who are you? How did you get in here?"
The boy scratched the beck of his neck. "It's kind of complicated. But my name's Naruto."
'There is no chance this is Kira,' Ruzaki thought. "Even if it is difficult, I still need an explanation. I can't have random people dropping in."
"Well, it's like this," Naruto said. He began telling Ryuzaki about how he's from a different world. He included some details about his journey that caused Ryuzaki's eyes to widen. He had just gotten use to the fact that Shinigami were real. To hear about the existence of several other worlds baffled him. "...and so, Sasuke and I have been separated. I bet he's somewhere in this world though."
'This kid may be dangerous after all,' Ryuzaki thought. "And what do you plan to do in this world?"
Naruto smiled. "Find Sasuke!"
"And after?" Ryuzaki asked.
"Probably find a place to stay for the next few days before moving on to the next world," He glanced down to a bracelet that sat on his wrist. "Around six days it seems."
Ryuzaki couldn't help but hope that Light would show up soon.

Ryuzaki wasn't the only one to see a strange green light. Ryuk and Light saw it as well. Light noticed that Ryuk was surprised so that meant that whatever it was had nothing to do with him or shinigami. Curiosity made him move to find out what the light was. When they turned the corner of the spot the light hit the ground, they saw a boy around Light's age putting a mirror in a backpack. He looked human, but Light didn't cross off the possibility that the boy was an Alien.
Onyx eyes suddenly met Light's. A handsome pale face was revealed as well as a frown. The boy swung his bag onto his back and started walking towards Light. Light stood frozen to the spot as the raven walked passed him as if nothing had happened.
"Who was that?" Light asked out loud.
"A human," Ryuk said. Light turned to him. "I can see it, his name and lifespan. That can only mean that he is human." Light nodded. He wanted to know more about the kid since no normal human appears in a flash of green light. Light went after the boy at a slightly faster-than-normal pace. He caught up to the raven since he didn't seem to know where he was going. Suddenly, he disappeared. Light blinked in confusion.
"Why are you following me?" a voice asked from behind him. Light turned around to see the raven standing behind him.
"Huh?" Ryuki questioned. "Where did he come from?"
"That green light," Light said, ignoring the other's question. "What was it?"
"None of your business," the boy said before walking passed Light once more. Light frowned. This kid was beginning to piss him off. He took a deep breath to calm himself down. There was no need to lose control over his emotions.
"Hey did you see it?" a girl asked.
"You mean those green lights?" another asked.
"Yeah!" the first girl said. "It was really weird."
"Two lights?" the raven now stood in front of the two girls. Both were blushing. "Did you remember where you saw them?"
The first girl nodded. "T-there was one c-coming from that alley o-over there." She pointed to where the boy had come from. "A-and the second one f-from there." This time she pointed to a large tower-like building. The boy nodded and began to head towards that building.
Light knew where he going. It was headquarters for the Kira Investigation. If another light had gone off over there, that meant Ryuzaki had most likely seen it. Light quickened his speed as he headed towards HQ. He caught up to the boy about three blocks away from HQ. "Hey!"
The boy turned towards Light. "What?"
"You can't just walk in there," Light said. "You need to be invited in."
The boy seemed to be thinking. It was times like these that Light wished he could read minds. "Fine then. Invite me in."
Light hesitated. 'Should I do it? He may give me the answers to my questions if I do. But Ryuzaki would...' His thoughts were interrupted when his phone rang. The boy flinched as Light pulled out his cell phone. 'It's L.' He pressed the answer button, bringing the phone to his ear. "Ryuzaki... a green light?" 'So he did see it.' "Yes, I saw one... near an alley about eight blocks away from here... yeah, I'm outside now... Ok. But I'm bring up a guest. I believe you'd like to meet him... see you soon." He hung up the phone before putting it back in his pocket. He looked at the boy. "Lets go then." Light, Ryuk, and the boy enter HQ.

Ryuzaki had Naruto sit down before he called Light. After a minute of talking, he hung up.' A guest? Another Kira? Or...' He looked at Naruto. "I believe my associate has found your companion."
Naruto perked up. "Sasuke?" Ryuzaki nodded. "Cool!" Naruto jumped to his feet. "Let's go meet them then!"
"They are coming up here," Ryuzaki said. His words didn't seem to calm Naruto down. He looked to be hopping in place. Ryuzaki sighed. He really hoped nothing bad was going to happen.

Light watched as the boy removed several weapons from his person including a sword. Suddenly the decision to allow him into HQ was becoming a bad idea. Once a large pile of things were removed, the kid stepped through the metal detector with ease before grabbing his things. Light thought about asking him to leave the weapons behind, but he somehow knew it wasn't going to happen. They made their way slowly up to where Ryuzaki and Naruto were.
Light was a bit surprised to see someone that was complete opposite as the kid next to him. The blond looked right at the kid and smiled. "Sasuke!" He ran towards the boy who side stepped to avoid a hug. "Teme!"
"Dobe," Sasuke said.
"I was right then," Ryuzaki said. He walked slowly towards the group. "You must be Sasuke."
Sasuke glared at Naruto before nodded. "Hn."
"Naruto told be about this journey you two are on," Ryuzaki said. Sasuke didn't say anything. "I have to say, I did not expect to find out that there are other worlds out there. To think that there are other worlds like this one." Ryuzaki shook his head. "I have to wonder if I caught Kira in one of them."
"You mean we," Light said. "I want to catch Kira too you know."
"Right," Ryuzaki said. "We." Neither Ryzaki nor Light saw Naruto and Sasuke glancing at each other. Ryuk on the other hand saw the looks.

"So tell me more about this Kira," Naruto said, popping a piece of sukiyaki into his mouth. Watari had bought the five of them some food. Neither Naruto nor Sasuke commented on how Ryuzaki sat, despite how strange it was.
"Kira is a criminal," Light said before Ryuzaki could. "He's been killing people for awhile now."
"Oh?" Naruto asked. "How come you haven't caught him yet?"
"He has a mysterious power," Ryuzaki said. "He can kill just by knowing a face and a name." Light's eyes widened. He hadn't expected Ryuzaki to give out this information.
"Whoa!" Naruto exclaimed. "That guy sounds dangerous." Another piece of sukiyaki entered his mouth.
"You don't know who he is then?" Sasuke asked.
"Not yet," Light said. "But I think we're close."
"What aren't you telling us?" Sasuke asked.
Light and Ryuzaki looked at each other. Ryuzaki stood up and walked over to his desk. Taking out a key from his pocket, he unlocked the draw and pulled out a notebook. After sitting back down he placed the notebook on the table. "This is what he uses to kill people."
Naruto grabbed it and held it so Sasuke could see it as well. "A notebook?"
Sasuke reached over and took the notebook from Naruto, opening it. He read the first page then raised an eyebrow. "Is this real?"
"We haven't tested it ourselves, but everything adds up," Ryuzaki said.
"Interesting," Sasuke said.
Naruto looked up ready to ask a question when his eyes widened. "What the hell!" Sasuke also looked up to see a very tall creature standing behind Ryuzaki. His eyes burned with the desire to shift into the Sharingan. He managed to keep them from doing so.
"This is Rem," Ryuzaki said. "A shinigami."
"A shinigami?" Naruto's eyes moved over Rem's form. "No offence but your kind of creepy."
"None taken," Rem said. She looked at Naruto. "There is something I'd like to ask you." Naruto tilted his head to the side. "How is it that I can see two lifespans for you?"
"Two lifespans?" Naruto wondered. Light and Ryuzaki looked surprise. Although only Rem and Light could see him, Ryuk still nodded his head, wondering the same thing. He had questioned it briefly when he saw Naruto as well. He however didn't say anything. "Oh! That's probably because of Kurama!"
"Kurama?" Light asked. "Who is Kurama?"
Naruto grinned before standing up. He lifted up his shirt revealing his stomach. Summoning a little of Kurama's chakra, the seal revealed itself. "I have a demon sealed inside me."
THUD! "Ryuzaki!" Light yelled, running to the man's side. Ryuzaki had fallen out of his chair. Shook was written clearly on his face. Light was surprised as well, but concern for Ryuzaki was more present on his face. "Are you ok?"
"D-demon?" Ryuzaki stuttered. "N-no way."
Naruto frowned, dropping the hem of his shirt. "Yeah." He sat down, eyes moving to stare at the floor.
"Come on Ryuzaki," Light said. "If shinigami are real then it shouldn't be strange for demons to exist. Besides, they are from a different world."
"Right," Ryuzaki said, taking the hand Light was offering him. "Excuse me. I apologize for my behavior."
"It's ok," Naruto said. "It happens all the time."
"Hn, Dobe," Sasuke said.
"What was that Teme?" Naruto asked, his eyes meeting Sasuke's. A sense of peace washed over the blond as he kept his gaze locked with Sasuke's. A long time seemed to pass by before Naruto picked up his chopsticks and grabbed another piece of sukiyaki.
"Eat some vegetables too," Sasuke ordered.
"Hmph!" Naruto pouted before selecting an onion sliver and eating it.

"So what do you think Sasuke?" Naruto asked. The two were in a room that had been provided by Ryuzaki. Sasuke raised an eyebrow. "About this whole Kira thing."
"Dobe, forget about it," Sasuke said, pulling on a shirt.
Naruto sat up. "But Kira is..."
"No," Sasuke said, turning towards the blond. "I don't know how many times I have to tell you, but we mustn't interfere. This isn't our world."
"I know," Naruto said. "But if we can help stop a murderer, shouldn't we?"
Sasuke shook his head. "They have to find it out for themselves. You've heard what they said. If Kira is caught, he will be put to death. Would you do that? Sentence someone to death because you believe that one person is right while the other is wrong?"
"No," Naruto said. "I can't do that."
"I can understand why Kira is doing what he is doing," Sasuke said. "There are some parts of it that are..." He fell silent. "Come in Light,"
Light opened the door and walked into the room, letting the door close behind him. "I just wanted to ask if there was anything you needed."
"No," Sasuke said.
"Then I'll be..." Light began but a hand grabbed his arm. Red and black swirling eyes stared into his brown ones and Light couldn't help but gasp.
"You shouldn't eavesdrop," Sasuke said. He released Light. "And you should be more careful." He glanced at Ryuk. "You too."
Ryuk grinned. "You can see me. That's interesting." He stepped forward. "You couldn't have touched Light's death note." His eyes shifted to Sasuke's name floating above his head, then back at Sasuke. "It must be those eyes."
"Hn," Sasuke grunted.
"Sasuke?" Naruto stood behind him. "What is going on?"
"Kyuubi," Sasuke called.
"Wha?" Naruto began only to stop. His eyes suddenly shifted to red.
"What do you want, brat?" the Kyuubi said through Naruto. Light and Ryuk's eyes widened at the voice. His red eyes met Ryuk's. "Oh? So this must be a shinigami. Not that scary looking."
"I could kill you, you know," Ryuk said.
Kyuubi-Naruto grinned. "And I could destroy that notebook before you could even take out a pen." Ryuk seemed to contemplate wither or not to try anyway. But he decided not to. Killing them would be pointless since he didn't even know if their lifespans would be given to him. Also, it could result in the extension of Light's life, meaning his own death. He wasn't ready to risk that. He glanced at Sasuke, only to hear a growl from the blond. It was clear that the demon was letting Ryuk know that Sasuke was also off limits.
Naruto's eyes shifted back to blue, but he remained able to see Ryuk. He glanced at Light who was still frozen in place. It was clear to him as well that Naruto and Sasuke were not people to trifle with. Light bowed slightly. "Sorry. I just wanted to..."
"Find out more about us," Naruto finished. "I understand. Sasuke is right. This isn't our world and we won't interfere."
Light nodded. "Then have a good night." He quickly left the room. Ryuk stayed behind.
"I have to know, how did you know who Light was?" he asked.
Naruto and Sasuke looked at each other. "I could hear a change in Light's heart beat. I have demonic hearing that sometimes activates without my permission."
"I'm an Uchiha," Sasuke said. "We can tell when we are being lied to." This wasn't fully true, but Ryuk didn't seem to care or notice it. He simply nodded before going after Light. Sasuke sighed. "I really hope we don't have to stay here too long."
Naruto smiled, holding up his bracelet. "Six days." Sasuke cursed as he looked down at his own that read eight. That meant they'd be here for about a week.
