Chapter 76: One Hell of a Night

Naruto awoke when he smelt something burning. He looked out the window to see two figures each holding a burning torch. His eyes turned red as he got a better look at them. They were dressed in black, a mask covering their faces. The smaller one threw something that slammed into the ground, causing a loud explosion of smoke. It was clear that they were not friendly. Naruto found Tanaka outside his door. The man smiled. "You don't have to worry. They won't make it far."

"Are they here for us?" Naruto asked.

"You are the guests of the Phantomhive Manor," Ciel said. Tanaka bowed as he stepped to the side. "As such, you are under our protection."

"You don't need to protect us," Sasuke said. He had an annoyed look on his face. It was clear that he hadn't liked being woken up. "I can just Amaterasu them." Yup, he did not like being awoken.

"Let's leave it to them," Naruto said. He couldn't believe he was the one saying this. Normally, it was Sasuke that had to stop Naruto from interfering. Not wanting to argue, Sasuke nodded. Naruto's stomach growled causing him to blush sheepishly and scratch the back of his neck.

"Shall we head to the third floor?" Ciel asked. "We can eat some snacks while watching something entertaining." Naruto and Sasuke nodded before following after Ciel. Tanaka had already left to get some snacks. Ciel took a seat on the couch facing a large window. Naruto and Sasuke could see Finny walking towards the intruders. "You'll be able to see the power of the servants of Phantomhive from here." Tanaka set down some cookies and tea on the table. He then stepped back near the door. Naruto and Sasuke sat down, Naruto taking a cookie.

Finny stopped several feet away from the intruders. "Intruders aren't welcome here. Honestly, you aren't the first ones to come here so late. It isn't nice to be so loud when people are trying to sleep." The two intruders ignored him and ran towards the manor. Finny moved to stop the bigger one. The smaller one was hit by a bullet shot by Mey-Rin who was standing on the roof. But the intruder got back up and continued forward. Mey-Rin frowned. The intruder was wearing bullet resistant clothes. She could see the metal peeking from under the black shirt. She aimed her next shot at the intruder's head. Again, the intruder fell down only to get back up. The metal was covering her entire body. Mey-Rin would have to hit the same spot multiple times in order to kill them. She grabbed another gun ready to do just that, but the smaller intruder had already entered the manor.

"They missed one," Sasuke snidely remarked.

"One is all we need," Ciel said.

"Just as planned, Bard and Snake will lead them here," Tanaka announced.

"Good," Ciel took another sip of his tea. Sasuke didn't say another word as he turned back towards the window. Finny had taken several hits, but he didn't even look hurt. The intruder looked like he was out of breath. Finny slammed a hand into the intruder's stomach. The bullet resistant clothes tanked most of the hit, but the intruder fell backwards. Using his fall to his advantage, the intruder pulled out a gun and fired at Finny's forehead. This time it was Finny that fell backwards. The intruder got up and stepped to follow after his partner when he felt someone grab his leg. He looked down to see Finny, who was bleeding from his forehead looking up at him. He shivered at the sight. Finny pulled the man down. He then got up and began tossing the intruder around like a rag doll. Once it was clear that the intruder was unconscious, Finny began to drag him towards the manor. Finny looked up at Mey-RIn and waved. She smiled before she began to pack up her guns.

The smaller intruder ran right into Bard who was carrying a shotgun. He fired at the intruder's feet. This forced her to turn a different corner. She ran into the bathroom, locking the door before sliding behind the bathtub. She gathered her thoughts, wondering if this was worth it. Her mind went to her husband and their child. Yes, if it was for them, she'd do anything. She stood back up. She walked over to a wall and placed a bomb on it. Getting into the tub, she set it off. The explosion shook the manor but Ciel remained unaffected by it.

The smaller intruder jumped out of the tub and walked through the hole. She wasn't sure where she was going, but she knew she'd have to take care of those annoying servants first. She began to set up several smoke and gas bombs. They'd be set off just by someone walking near them. Her mask would protect her from being affected. She was setting her tenthish one when she heard one of the ones she had just set go off. She prepared herself for an attack, but she didn't see anyone. Turning back to her bomb, she didn't notice the snake that was slithering on the ceiling towards her. It dropped down and instantly wrapped around her body. She tried to get it off but another snake joined the first. Soon, she was covered in snakes. She reached for a bomb but a snake was so tightly wrapped around her wrist that it nearly broke it. Something white caught her eyes. Her eyes found the golden eyes of the man in front of her.

"It looks like we caught her, says Oscar," Snake said. "Now we just need to take her to Smile, says Emily."

"I brought rope," Bard said, walking up to Snake. Snake took the rope and tied the intruder up. He kept his snakes around her just in case. She didn't struggle as she was brought to where Ciel and the others were.

"Well done," Ciel commended. "As expected of the servants of Phantomhive." He made his way over to the intruder. "Why are you here?"

"I was told that someone here can save my family," the intruder admitted.

Ciel raised an eyebrow at that. "And exactly how did you expect me to help?"

"Not you," the intruder said. She was staring at Sasuke. Naruto glanced at Sasuke, who was glaring.

"Why do you think he can help you?" Ciel asked.

"We were told he could," the intruder answered. She saw Finny bringing her partner into the room. There was a flash of concern on her face before she continued. "All we had to do was find the perfect sacrifice." She struggled as she tried to move closer to Sasuke. "Please. I know you can save my baby. We just want our baby back!"

"Your child is dead," Ciel said. "You had a miscariage almost two years ago."

"I know," the woman said. "But he said he could bring the baby back!"

"Undertaker," Ciel mumbled. "The dead can't be brought back to life. Once someone dies, they are gone."

"That's not true!" the woman yelled. "I saw it! That boy was brought back!"

"McLennan?" Ciel asked.

"I don't know who that is," the woman said. "We never learned their names. But we found him and he showed us that it was possible to bring our baby back. We just needed to find the right sacrifice. He did what he could with what we gave him, but he told us we needed someone better. Then this morning he told us about him." She motioned to Sasuke with her head. "He's able to bring our baby back regardless of the sacrifice. And there are plenty of sacrifices here."

"You're mad," Bard said.

The woman ignored him. "Please! I'm willing to do anything! Please give me my baby back!" She managed to move a finger to trigger a hidden bomb on her body that released a gas that made the snakes around her fall asleep. She broke out of her bounds and charged at Sasuke. Sasuke managed to dodge her as he covered his mouth to block out the gas. Bard and Snake had been the closest to the woman and had fallen to the floor asleep. Finny and Mey-Rin tried to cover their mouths, but Mey-Rin was beginning to get dizzy. Ciel had stepped away in time to avoid most of the smoke. He used his willpower to stay standing. Seeing Ciel like this, Tanaka moved him even further away, using two cloths to cover their mouths. Naruto was fine as Kurama was able to combat the poison. Sasuke's body was fighting the poison. It was a good thing he was resistant to most poisons thanks to Orochimaru.

The woman stood up and latched herself to Sasuke's arm. This time, she had a bomb that would kill both of them if she set it off. "You will bring my baby back. I'll even let you choose the sacrifice."

Naruto instantly caught on to what Sasuke was about to do. "Sasuke!" He moved to stop him, but it was too late.

"Amaterasu," Sasuke said as his Mangekyo Sharingan spun. The woman screamed as she released him. She stumbled backwards, clawing at her face. Her scream awoke her partner who tried to help put out the black flames, but they just spread to him. Ciel, Tanaka, Finny and Mey-RIn watched in horror as the flames consumed them.

"Sasuke, stop," Naruto said, grabbing his arm. "Before you burn the entire manor down." Sasuke nodded. He made the flames disappear. The bodies of the two intruders dropped to the floor.

"Sarah Holden, age thirty-two, dies after being burned alive," William said, holding a book. "Johnathan Holden, age thirty-four, same thing." Their cinematic records shot up out of them. William quickly captured them. "Nothing to note." He closed his book, putting it away carefully. "My job here is done."

"Wait!" Ciel yelled. "What about those children?"

"Grell is dealing with them," William said. Ciel cursed. He had been hoping that at least one of them would be alive. "Now then…" He turned towards Naruto and Sasuke, his death scythe pointed towards them. "What did Sarah Holden mean when she said you could bring back the dead?"

"I have no idea what she was on about," Sasuke lied.

"I do hope you know that lying to me will get you nowhere," William said.

"I'd also like to hear about this," Sebastian said. He stepped over Snake and Bard and made his way over to the burnt bodies. "Oh my. You sure did a number on them. I'd like to know how." He glanced over at Ciel, glad to see that he was ok.

"Sebastian, where is he?" Ciel asked.

"I'm afraid that he got away, my Lord," Sebastian answered. "And before you ask, it was already too late so save any of the children. Sarah and Johnathan Holden weren't exactly the best hosts." Ciel clicked his teeth. I did discover some interesting information though. They believed that their child could be brought back to life as long as they had someone's soul to replace the child's. It seems they needed to find someone whose soul was similar to their child's. They kidnapped people with black hair in hopes that increased the likelihood that they would succeed. But none of the people they had kidnapped had been close to being good enough."

"And yet she said any of us would have been fine as sacrifices if Sasuke was the one to bring back their child instead of Undertaker," Ciel said.

"I believe he lied to them," Sebastian said. "Well, not completely." He glanced back at Sarah and Johnathan's bodies. "It is clear that Sasuke isn't exactly normal. I can't place him. I know he's not a demon and it is clear he's not a grim reaper. From what I can tell, he's human, but that doesn't make sense. No normal human can turn two people into charcoal." He then walked over to the glass of the window overlooking the manor's grounds. "Nor melt glass." He ran his hand through the melted glass. It was clear from the looks on the others' faces that no one had noticed it. "I saw the black flames before they disappeared. I have never seen them before." He looked over at William.

"Neither have I," William said, adjusting his glasses again. He knew he shouldn't still be here. His job was done. But he was curious.

"So tell me," Sebastian said. "What are you?"

Naruto instantly came to Sasuke's defense. "He's human."

"I find that hard to believe," Sebastian said.

"I don't care what you think," Sasuke snared. Naruto glanced over at Sasuke whose sharingan was spinning. "But if you dare to raise a hand against us, I'll kill you." Sebastian's eyes flashed at the taunt and his fingers itched to test Sasuke's words out.

"Sebastian," Ciel called. "They are still guests."

Sebastian sighed. "Right." He bowed. "I apologize for my actions." Sasuke's eyes narrowed, but he didn't say anything.

Naruto broke the tense atmosphere with a yawn. "I think it is time for bed. A lack of sleep can make us cranky."

"Indeed, we should call it a night," Ciel said. "Tanaka, please help Finny bring Bard and Snake to their rooms. Sebastian, clean up this mess."

"Yes, My Lord," Sebastian said. Ciel nodded and started for the door. Sasuke and Naruto followed him. Tanaka helped Finny carry both Bard and Snake. He followed after Finny to help with the doors. Mey-Rin went and got some cleaning supplies. With one last glance at Sarah and Jonathan's bodies, William left. Once again, Sebastian sighed. His eyes went to the moon. The pale glow reminded him of Sasuke. The boy's soul was filled with darkness. It was similar to Ciel's. Sebastian wondered how Naruto and the demon inside him could stand being around such a tasty morsel. He licked his lips.

"Here you so Sebastian," Mey-Rin said. She was juggling several cleaning supplies.

"Thank you Mey-Rin," Sebastian said, taking them from her. "You should go get some sleep."

"Yes, sir," Mey-Rin said. She curtsied before leaving.

Sebastian's eyes moved from the cleaners to the bodies and then back at the moon. "It has been one hell of a night, hasn't it…?" He was met with silence. He didn't hesitate for another second before he got to work.
