Chapter 13

A few hours later:

As I began approaching the spot the source of the powerful energy was coming from. I couldn't help but get a bad sinking feeling in my gut. Something told me this encounter would not go how I expect it to. Looking forward, I can see on the horizon is a large tree at the edge of a forest of much smaller trees, standing around 80 feet in height and 25 feet from front to back with a look similar to that of a redwood tree, however it is a light blue colour.

There seemed to be a hole in the side of the tree with a door made from the bark of the tree blocking the hole. The door had no means for accessing it from the ground unless one knew how to fly. Which is how I did when I finally arrived in front of it. Knocking once, then once more right after I waited for an invitation in the home, which I got a few moments later. Stepping inside I see a rather skinny man, he reminded me of Togoma in resurrection F with how tall and lanky he ways. His eyes were a sharp brown, and he had a well groomed beard with a single pony tail in it, as well as loosely braided grey hair. If I had to guess I would say he was in his late fifties early sixties. He was sitting at a desk which was the only thing in the room, the desk was covered in ink splotches and worn scrolls lay in a pile leaning against the wall at the far side of the desk. Shortly after I entered the room, he turns to face me.

He assesses me as well, seemingly as surprised at my appearance as the last one. I was rather disappointed that the someone that is the strongest on the planet, but Goku becomes the strongest in the universe and he is as dumb as a bag of rock, if not more so, so I shouldn't hold strength and intelligence in the same comparison or I will find my explanations not meet more often than not I am sure.

Raising an eyebrow, he let's out a chuckle. And after a moment of silence he speaks up to say.

Old man: "You sure are a strange creature to look at, what are you some kind of tree spirit?"

Shocked that the man could speak to me I mutter.

Me: "You can understand me?"

Old man: "Yes, the knowledge of this tongue was bestowed upon me by Odin's assistant. Odin and his servant appeared in our realm twenty four years ago and I was chosen as I was the strongest on the planet as the one to translate his words so that his desires may be fulfilled. I was tasked with bringing comfort to Odin with things such as, our best foods, bedding and interesting fighters, though he also said the fighters were far too weak to deserve to be able to even hit him"

Me: "I see, so you are the one that will show me what it is that I seek? Also, why did you refer to yourself as the strongest when you are weaker than the other five powers I sense on this planet?"

The old man, surprised by my claim says.

Old man: "And how would you know that? Are you saying you can feel the strength of other living beings? That is absurd! Also, I am the strongest mortal, not the strongest being on this world"

Me: "Yes, is is a quite rare ability that seemingly only my planet has known about, though anyone can do it if they train to learn it."

I lean against the wall of the room by the door and say.

Me: "Irregardless I came to this planet looking for a good fight and to gain new abilities to get stronger, do you have anything that would fit that description, also I want to know who this Odin is I keep hearing about, even through the language barrier I heard the other people mention him multiple times. Is he one of these immortals you say are the other 4 powers that are stronger than you? Who even are you anyways? Are you the guardian of this planet?"

Nodding he closes his eyes and stands up and walks up to me and says.

Old man: "Well for that you must know some things, first, if it is a fight you seek, you can always fight and kill the the 3 beasts that reside on this side of the planet. Maybe if you beat them, our world will be safe once more. You could also stay here and train to your hearts desires, and as for who I am, we do not have a guardian, but you can call me þulr"

Me: "Just what are these strange beings, and why would you want them gone?"

þulr: "Well, like I said I was the translator to Odin, and I ensured we did our best to meet the all fathers demands. However, according to his standards, the food was very poor, and add that with the fighters being too arrogant for the power they held, he deemed us worthy of punishment. So he gave us two punishments. One was that he summoned three great beasts.

The first on is known as Fenrir, breaker of chains, Fenrir is a giant Canine beast with terrifying power, though being the weakest of the three beasts.

The next is Jotuun, is a giant being known as a frost giant, he is a towering monster, standing tall enough to have his head in the clouds, like Fenrir. He can summon a blizzard in moments that can freeze the land solid that is cold enough to not melt for years or even decades after.

And the final beast and strongest one yet is the world serpent, Jormungand. Odin calls him the eater of worlds, and that he consumes all that live on the planet before eating the planet himself. He is the most vile of them all as the other two only kill those in his territory, while Jormungand frequently leaves his in order to eat my kin in droves. The only place that is safe is near the world tree, also known as Yggdrasill, the greatest power on the planet. This tree has been with us for as long as our kind have existed. It is said that the first people were born with it's energy from it's first bloom. For some reason the tree can repel the world eater"

I think over all that he said before asking.

Me: " And what is it that I can learn here?"

þulr: "There is things I can teach you. I can teach you how to increase you power two fold with a special technique I created called The Odinfist, as well as how to make runes. I can also introduce you to someone to someone that can help you learn or improve your smithing skills to improve your clothes to some proper armour"

Me:" I think for now I will do my own forging, I will be back in a minute"

With that I walk out the door again, jump and slowly float to the Felix and touch down on the short grass and ferns. I point my hands to the grass and turn the grasses and ferns and dirt into stone to make a stone platform with a ring shaped stone wall like that of a well with the bottom filled in and a small hole in the bottom, i then take out spare enchanted coal and a blower like my forge has at home and set up the makeshift forge and place a spare smithing bench by it.

I then take some loose first and use alteration to turn them into Obsidian, Titanium Tungsten and Chromium and placed them all in the forge and started working.

I heated all the materials in the forge and started cutting out the properties from the metal I didn't want and started fusing what I was fed into the new metal.

Me: Ok... Add the cutting power of Obsidian... the flexibility of Titanium... the strength of Tungsten and the energy conductivity of Chromium to have it absorb Ki attacks and reinforce itself with my Ki and..."

Me: "Ultimite"

Looking over the bar of material I held in my hand, it looked as smooth as glass, likely because of the obsidian inside it, and the colour was like that of iron but lighter, almost like the colour of ashes. I then wasted no time and took the Bar of metal and placed it and my battle armour on the table to be upgraded it using alteration magic. After a half hour I was done making the new metal and the armour and could examine the final product.

Me: "Holy shite, that's a lot of durability! And I bet it can be upgraded a shittonne!"

I quickly make another bar of metal and use it to improve the armour again and once again inspect the armour.

I look at the new stats of the armour and and very pleased with how it went.

I was incredibly impressed with how my armour had turned out, almost being able to handle half of my current maximum strength. I then decided to return it to my inventory and do the same thing to my two weapons and shield as well.

Finally being done, I head back into the house to learn The Odinfist, I did not figure the runes would be of much use to me as I can already augment my armoured gravity if I want. Opening the door in the tree, I walk in and speak to the man once more.

Me: "I want to learn that technique The Odinfist, then I will kill your monsters for you"

Elated, he gets up from his seat and stands in the horse stance in the middle of the room and says

þulr: "That is wonderfully news! Using the technique is rather difficult however, you have to gain understanding of what unparalleled power is, as that is what the all father is and what this ability was built in, if you manage it, you will be the first person to ever be taught this power, as I am it's creator, having the most experience being with Odin and seeing his actions. No one before you had managed to learn it before"

Me: "I will take on any challenge you give me and will use it to gain more power!"

Smiling he says.

þulr: "Then let us begin."

Weeks later:

Day in and day out we would train every morning, in the afternoon I would rest and feed magic into the a gem I made. I plan to use this gem sort of like a soul gem in order to dump all the magic into my battle armour and weapons when I felt they were ready, creating a durability enchantment to make it able to handle a harsher beat down from the enemies I will have to face in the future However the I had not been quite ready to put the enchantments on. Then in the evenings I would work on my meditation before going to sleep for the next day Training like this was also pulling out the full effect of my hidden potential being unlocked, and with it my power rose quite a lot, though not as much as it had for Gohan and Krillin. My new power level sat at a nice power level of 10million!

Currently, I was inside the home of þulr and was once again working on me gaining The Odinfist and I had been seeing some progress lately.

þulr: "That's it, remember, this power is the pinnacle of strength, you have to pull out every bit of energy you have and ignite the power in every tini tiny part of your body!"

I concentrate harder and pull out everything I have, flowing my power through every cell with so much intensity it felt like every part of me was on fire, but in that few moments, my Ki flashed from a normal wire to a dark navy blue and my power doubled from 10 million to 20 million. However it only lasted those few moments before I hit the ground exhausted. þulr seemed to have expected this and said.

þulr: "Well done, you have learned to harness the power of Odin. However it is a very costly ability, not meant for mortal men and as a result even I can only use it long enough to throw one punch and while it does not exhaust me completely I can only use it two or three times in a battle before I can no longer continue if I was still in my prime. Sanely I am too old to use it at all now or I may have been able to beat those monsters. Unfortunately by the time I learned it my body was too old to keep fighting and be in that state"

Nodding, I take my leave from the room of his home, thanking him for his help and saying.

Me: "Don't you worry about those beasts, animal control is on the job"

And that's another chapter! I think the story is close to 30,000 words now! I hope you guys are liking it, I feel like my writing skills has improved a lot from when I started around a month ago. Let me know how you like it or think I can improve!
