Reyna's POV

Reyna awoke with a start and sat up. She was still in the medical cabin and her right arm was wrapped in bandages from the center of her forearm to her mid-humerus. She tried to move it but flinched in pain. Then, the door to her room opened and a healer stepped inside. He handed her a piece of Ambrosia and she ate it slowly. "How are you feeling?" The healer asked softly.

"A little sore but otherwise fine," Reyna replied. It was the morning after the battle in the Field of Mars, where a small army of monsters had tried to infiltrate the Argo ll. It was also the battle where Reyna had been stabbed with the sharp claw of a hellhound.

Reyna was deeply frustrated that she had put herself in a position to get hurt in the first place. She had been oblivious to the oncoming monster and had been bleeding ever since the hellhound had pounced on her.

As she finished up her square of Ambrosia, the effects started to take place and the throbbing in her wounded arm decreased considerably.

"Can I get you anything else, praetor?" The healer asked.

"I'm fine. Any idea when I'll be out of here?" Reyna replied.

"Probably this afternoon, though your activities will be limited for a couple of days. No extensive dueling."

Reyna groaned. "Does that mean Percy will take over most of my responsibilities?"

"For now," the Apollo boy said. "The Ambrosia and Nectar will help a lot, but as you know, we have to be generous with the portions that we give demigods."

Reyna nodded. Too much godly food could be fatal for a half-blood. "Thank you," Reyna said.

"Any time." The healer smiled, though he did look a little shocked. It wasn't very often that Reyna thanked a legionnaire, though it did happen.

The boy slipped out of the room and shut the door. Reyna sighed. As much as she trusted in Percy's abilities, she didn't trust him to take on the main responsibilities of a praetor. Maybe Reyna wasn't giving him enough credit, though. After all, Reyna had been a singular praetor before. Maybe Percy could do it, too. After all, Annabeth could help him.

A course of jealousy shot through her brain. The thought of Annabeth replacing her made Reyna angry. Especially since the blond and Percy were already so close. Reyna shoved down her envious thoughts. Annabeth would make a pretty good praetor, she had to admit. She was a natural leader and a strong fighter. The daughter of Athena would make a perfect Roman.

The door opened again, and the healer from earlier poked his head inside. "I have these for you," he said as he took a step inside. "They've been cleaned." He handed Reyna her praetor robes; a maroon cloak and a white toga, which Reyna usually wore over a t-shirt.

Reyna took the freshly cleansed clothing and set them on the table to her right. "Again, thank you," Reyna said, nodding to the light-haired boy. He scurried out of the room, taking some medical tools with him.

As far as Reyna knew, only four other legionnaires had been seriously injured in the battle. She had heard rumors of a stab in the shoulder of a daughter of Mercury; of a deep laceration in a son of Vulcan's side.

What was a mystery to Reyna, though, was why the legionnaires stationed at the entrance to the Caldecott Tunnel didn't come and warn Percy or Reyna of the intruding armies. Reyna didn't know who was supposed to be stationed there at that time. She would have to look at the schedule later and figure it out.

Reyna desperately wanted to leave the hot medical cabin. She wanted to be outside, doing her praetor duties, which hopefully Percy was attending to at the moment. Just then, there was a knock at the door. "Come in!" Reyna said.

The door opened to present Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson standing in the doorway. "Reyna!" Percy said, walking over to the side of her bed. "Are you ok?" Annabeth followed Percy inside and shut the door behind her She stood on Percy's right side with a sympathetic look on her face. Reyna guessed that the sympathetic look was aimed at her.

"I'm fine, Percy," Reyna said.

"You sure?" Percy asked. Reyna blushed. Percy was flustered, and clearly concerned about her. He was cute when he was worried. And, his cute worriedness was directed at her. Reyna knew the thought was kind of twisted, given the circumstances.

"Is the Ambrosia helping?" Annabeth asked, gesturing to a table on the other side of the room that still held a square of the godly food.

Reyna nodded. "I suppose that's my breakfast for the day," she said.

"I can go grab you something if you want," Annabeth suggested.

Reyna shrugged. She really was hungry. "If it's not too much trouble, then I would appreciate that."

Annabeth nodded and she and Percy left the room quickly. A moment later, Percy returned."I told her to go on without me," he said. He grabbed a chair and pulled it over to her bed. "Are you sure you're ok?"

Reyna blushed a deep red. He was so adorable when he was flustered."Yes, I really am. It's just a minor cut."

"You were stabbed by a hellhound's paw. That's not a minor cut," Percy pointed out. "And I know that you'd rather be up and doing praetor things because you want to help your camp prepare for the war, but Reyna, I got it. You've got to trust me."

"Percy, I do trust you, but a whole camp is a big responsibility. I should know," Reyna replied. Suddenly she remembered what she had told herself yesterday morning. You're supposed to be avoiding Percy so he can't seduce you remember? You're not going to fall in love again. She lowered her eyes, trying to avoid his gorgeous sea-green ones.

"You good?" Percy asked as she looked away. Reyna nodded.

"Don't worry, I'll keep this camp in good shape until you can return back to your full duties," Percy said, his voice soft. "Hey, look at me." his voice was barely louder than a whisper. Reyna looked up to see him nearly inches away. "You trust me, right?"

Reyna nodded, in a trance. She leaned in as Percy did the same. She closed her eyes... There was a knock on the door just then, and Annabeth opened it, carrying a plate of food. Reyna snapped back instantly and Percy turned around with a surprised expression on his face. "Back so soon?" He asked, flustered yet again.

Annabeth nodded slowly. "Uh, yeah. It's fast service." She set down the plate on Reyna's side table. "Does this suffice?" Annabeth asked.

Reyna nodded. "Thank you."

"Well, we better let you be," Annabeth said. "Come on Percy."

"Uh, yeah," Percy said, standing up abruptly. He grabbed Annabeth's hand as they walked out the door.

Reyna wanted to stab something. She had been put under Persues Jackson's spell once again, and this time, they almost had gotten caught by his girlfriend. She needed to steer clear of him, which would be difficult, seeing as they were both praetors. She needed to avoid him as best as she could, and maybe this little string connecting the two would cut.

Reyna tried extremely hard not to think of Percy's handsome features as she struggled to eat her breakfast.

Annabeth's POV

Annabeth couldn't help but notice how odd Seaweed Brain had been acting recently. She had eventually gotten plugged into his body language, so she could tell that something was up. Being the daughter of Athena that she was, she tried to invest herself in figuring out what was wrong, but even she was struggling. Percy had never acted this way before. He was sort of spacey and anxious. She noticed how his muscles tightened every so often. Maybe he was just stressed about the oncoming expedition.

"Percy, are you alright?" Annabeth asked him as they were walking away from the medical cabins.

"What? Oh, uh yeah, why?" He responded. Annabeth knew better than to let him off with an answer like that.

"You can talk to me, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth replied. "You've been acting odd lately. Is it just nerves, or something more?"

Percy rubbed the back of his neck, a cute habit he had that made Annabeth want to kiss him, though she knew it was a nervous habit. He had an almost guilty expression on his face like he had been caught in a lie. "Annabeth, do you love me?" He asked slowly.

Annabeth stopped walking a shocked expression on her face. "You have doubts about my love for you?" She nearly yelled. "I love you more than anything or anyone! The fact that you implied otherwise is a little concerning."

Percy's shoulders relaxed, but Annabeth didn't. Why on earth would Percy think that she didn't love him? She turned to face Percy. "Do you love me, Seaweed Brain?" Annabeth asked, almost accusingly.

Percy froze up like a deer in headlights, but countered with, "Of course." Annabeth could hear the genuineness in his voice. She could see the loyalty in his eyes. That was his fatal flaw, after all. She softened the grip she held on his firm hands. He leaned in for a kiss, and she met his lips with hers. Her heart fluttered like it did every time he kissed her. She still couldn't get over the fact that she had snagged such a guy, no matter how oblivious and sometimes ignorant he could be.

Once they pulled apart, Percy said, "I'm gonna head over to the Field, and supervise the cleanup of the battle. Don't wait up for me."

Annabeth nodded. "I'll go see if Piper and Hazel want to do something."

Percy and Annabeth went their separate ways. Annabeth knew that something was up with Percy, but hopefully, it had nothing to do with their relationship. At least he still loved her, right?

Percy's POV

When Percy arrived at the Field of Mars, he saw twelve or thirteen demigods helping to clear the field of the remnants of the battle that had taken place the day before. There was much to clean up, mainly the golden dust that littered the floor. Percy wished that monsters wouldn't leave behind such a mess after they were killed.

As Percy glanced around, he noticed that Leo was one of the people helping to clear the wreckage. Percy walked over to him. "Are you ok, man? After yesterday I mean," Percy said.

Leo turned around. "I'm fine," he said. "Thanks."

Percy raised his eyebrows. "You don't look fine."

"I can't help but think that this was my fault," Leo said. "The monsters must've seen the Argo ll."

"Trust me, the giant army already knew far too well where to find us," Percy reassured him. "All of our godly blood combined makes one heck of a half-blood homing beacon."

The impish Latino boy squinted. "Thanks. You're right."

"Well, is the ship ok? Like, your dragon and everything?" Percy asked.

"Yeah, the ship's great, courtesy of yours truly. One of the oars broke off, but that was an easy fix. Oh, and by the way, the dragon's name is Festus."

"Right. My bad," Percy said, an amused expression on his face.

"Well, you better get back to your praetor duties, praetor Percy," Leo said with a smirk.

"Right. Well, see you," Percy said, as he walked away. When he stopped a few yards away, he noticed that much of the golden dust had now been cleaned up. Only a couple of patches here and there remained. Good, Percy thought. Fewer reminders of dirt lady's armies.

The truth was, he didn't really think that the siege's goal had been to kill the demigods, though that would've been a bonus factor for Gaea. Percy's guess was that the army's mission was to scare the demigods. To warn them that their threat to take over the world and destroy all the mortals and gods, was not going to stand as an idle threat. Percy hoped this wasn't the case, but his instincts told him otherwise.

As Percy left the Field, his thoughts subconsciously turned to Annabeth and how he had asked her if she loved him. In hindsight, Percy knew that that had been a dumb question to ask. Of course, Annabeth loved him! The main reason Percy had asked this was to make sure that she had not figured out his and Reyna's secret. They had gotten this close to getting caught kissing.

Percy didn't know why he kept kissing Reyna. He knew it was wrong, and that the daughter of Bellona did not want to be in a relationship right then. It was unfair to Reyna and dishonest to Annabeth. He just felt compelled so strongly to do it. Darn Aphrodite, Percy thought. Darn Aphrodite and her love.

But when Percy answered Annabeth's question about whether he loved her, he knew that he had told the truth when he said "yes." He did love Annabeth. But then why did he feel so attracted to Reyna?

I hope you liked it! Could Percy's attraction to Reyna be any more obvious, though? ;D Again, thank you so much for over 10,000 views! I'm super duper grateful for you guys! Also, could you please go check out my poll? Pretty Aphrodite, please? And leave a review, of course!
