It's time for Chapter Thirty! I don't know about you guys, but I think that this is the longest I've ever seen a Preyna story go. Sure, they're good, just really short, ya know? IMPORTANT: For me, summer break is coming up! I don't know if this makes any sense, but I'll probably update less over the summer. I will still update, just not as frequently. Maybe... once every two weeks? Is that alright? I'm really sorry, and I will pick up the pace again once the school year starts again! Thanks for your understanding! Anyways, let's get into it!

Percy's POV
Percy still thought that last night was absolutely surreal. He couldn't believe that Reyna had wanted to stay with him! He was glad that she trusted him enough to do that. Of course, Percy would never hurt Reyna and he would never do anything that she would find offensive, at least not on purpose anyway. In his eyes, last night was a huge step in their "relationship." He hadn't even done such a thing with Annabeth before...
The thought made Percy feel slightly guilty, so he wrapped his arms around the blond girl sitting next to him in the mess hall. Percy knew that Annabeth would want Percy do to last night with her first and only her. She'd be heartbroken to hear that he'd snuggled in bed with Reyna first. Heck, she would be heartbroken to hear about any of the other things he had done with Reyna.
Annabeth looked over at Percy and gave him a kiss on the cheek, her gray eyes sparkling. "Thanks, Seaweed Brain," she said. "I needed that."
Percy beamed, glad that he could make Annabeth happy. He subconsciously looked over his shoulder at Reyna and was glad that she wasn't looking. He didn't want her to be upset, either. Honestly, Percy didn't want anybody to be upset, especially not at him. He didn't want himself to feel sad either. But if what he wanted made him happy but others sad, what was he supposed to do?
Percy continued to eat his breakfast, more silent than usual. He had a lot on his mind.
"Oh my goodness, look at THAT," Leo said, gesturing to a girl in the First Cohort.
"Did you seriously just call a girl a 'that'?" Piper asked, eyeing Leo.
"She is seriously hot," Leo said. "And yes, yes I did."
"You could at least refer to her as a 'her,'" Piper said, clearly offended. "Girls are people too."
"Look, Pipes-" Leo started.
"Guys, stop arguing!" Annabeth said. "Leo- respect girls. Piper- you know what he meant."
Percy stared at his girlfriend, amazed at how quickly she could take charge.
Leo held up his hands in defense. "Jeez, Hermana. I get it."
Piper eyed Annabeth. "Whose side are you on, anyways?"
"Yours," Annabeth said. "Besides, Leo needs to stop chasing after so many girls anyways."
Hazel nodded in agreement, smiling.
Leo sighed. "If only these girls would pay me some attention."
"No, I think you just need to give them more respect," Frank retorted. Percy could tell that Frank had a grudge toward Leo, though he had no clue why.
"Dude-" Leo started.
"Stop arguing!" Percy put in, taking Annabeth's side.
Jason shot Percy a thankful look as Leo grumbled. Eventually, the small Latino boy continued eating his breakfast.
Percy was thinking about what Leo had said about girls noticing him, his arm still wrapped around Annabeth. A thought came to his head, but he knew it was a lost cause. He was thinking that maybe, the praetors and centurions could hold a dance for the camp, sort of like a prom. Percy knew it'd never work, though. Reyna would probably never agree to such a thing, no matter how fun it would be. She'd say something like, "This is a training camp, not a school!"
Percy tried brushing the thought away, still holding his girlfriend while they ate. He would ask Reyna about it later if the idea kept persisting.
It sounded like a stupid idea, but he thought that maybe it would be a good idea for Leo to get the attention that he sought from so many girls. The dance wouldn't be just for Leo, though. It would've given so many other demigods the chance to ask out others and make new friends. Of course, Percy thought it would be fun and a good break for the poor campers here. The training here was exhilarating but exhausting. It would be nice to have a little break. Teenagers needed to be teenagers.
Annabeth seemed to know that he was thinking hard. She did it all the time, after all. "Whatcha thinking about?"
Percy blinked. "Oh, nothing..."
Annabeth nudged him in the ribs. "You can tell me, Kelp Head."
Percy glared at her for the nickname but answered. "Well, I was thinking about hosting a dance. You know, like a homecoming."
Annabeth stared at Percy. "What gave you that idea?"
Percy looked down, embarrassed. "Well, Leo said that he wished girls would notice him. A dance would be the perfect opportunity to ask out a girl!"
Annabeth smiled. "As if he could only pick one..."
Percy laughed. "Yeah, I didn't think about that. Anyways, it would give lots of half-bloods a chance to ask others up. Not to mention it'd be really fun."
Annabeth paused for a minute. "Yeah, you're right."
"Not to mention you'd look good in a dress," Percy put in impulsively.
Annabeth looked at him, cheeks red. "Thanks."
"It's the truth!" Percy replied. Deep down, Percy had wanted to mention how good Reyna would look in a dress as well, but for very obvious, he couldn't. Both girls would look great in dresses.
Annabeth smiled, her gray eyes shining. "Well, I think if you could make it happen, it would be pretty fun, and I'm sure the rest of the camp would enjoy it."
Percy grinned at her encouragement. "Should I run it by Jason and Reyna?"
Annabeth smiled. "Yeah, why not?"
Percy dropped his arm, looking over at Reyna. He notice her staring, but she quickly looked away, a bit of hurt evident in her eyes. Guilt surged through Percy and he scooted just a tad bit farther from Annabeth. Luckily Annabeth didn't notice. Percy felt like he was literally torn between the two girls.
Percy and the rest of his friends finished their breakfast and went to complete their morning activities. Percy and Annabeth headed to the arena together to practice. Mainly only for Annabeth since she was still getting accustomed to a full-length sword. Percy gladly fought her with Riptide, but his mind was going elsewhere. Mainly towards a very attractive praetor of the Twelfth Legion. Annabeth didn't seem to notice how distant he was. She probably just thought that he was going somewhat easy on her, which she sort of needed.
Eventually, Percy let her win. Annabeth knocked Percy down with the flat of her blade.
"Percy, thanks for going easy on me, but the next time, could you maybe go, well, less easy?"
Percy nodded, sitting up. "Sure. If you think you can take it." He grinned.
"I'm getting better and you know it!"
Percy nodded. "Yeah. yeah." He gave Annabeth a kiss on the forehead. "Seriously, I'm proud of you."
Annabeth smiled brightly. "Thanks."
Percy grinned back at her as he walked over to get a drink of water. It was a hot August morning and Annabeth had worn him out, and Percy wasn't worn out easily. Seriously, Annabeth was becoming a skilled sword-fighter, along with Piper of course.
Percy took a sip of water which rejuvenated him greatly. He drank some more of the cool water and then headed back to Annabeth, ready for round two.
Reyna's POV
Reyna was ready (mentally prepared) for her inspection of the barracks. Usually, the centurions did this weekly check, but they were all "busy" doing activities with their cohorts. Reyna didn't blame them for adverting the task. It was boring and tedious. Since Percy and Jason were both also "busy," Reya took the responsibility upon herself, telling herself that she would feel good and satisfied later.
Reyna arrived at the barracks and did a quick sweep of any problematic areas. The job didn't seem hard. All the inspector had to do was check how the legionnaires had been taking care of the barracks in the past week, but it was monotonous.
Reyna checked underneath the bunks, in the bathrooms, on shelves, and in closets. So far, so good. Then, she went into a storage closet that she hadn't noticed earlier. She found chip crumbs everywhere, a blanket thrown on the ground, and a weird contraption that looked like the doings of Leo Valdez. These must have been the remnants of Percy's night hanging out with his friends. Before he had snuggled with Reyna, of course.
The thought of last night still made Reyna turn bright red. It was amazing and oh-so-romantic. She had only wanted to use the bathroom, but had ended up falling asleep in Percy Jackson's bed! Not to mention the cuddling and the tickles. Percy was such a flirt but Reyna loved it.
Fairytale as it was, Reyna couldn't ignore the mess in that specific closet. She'd talk to Leo, Jason, and Percy about cleaning it later.
After another thorough check of the barracks, she headed towards the Principia. She wanted some time to feel like a praetor and the Principia was the best place to be.
Reyna stepped inside the hallowed halls of the Principia. Her eyes immediately went toward the eagle standard. The symbol of power from Jupiter crackled with electricity, giving the room the feeling that lightning was going to strike. Eventually, one got used to the gift from Jupiter being in the room. Especially Jason. As far as Reyna could tell, he felt more comfortable with the standard in the room. Maybe because it brought him the feeling that his father was present.
Reyna took her eyes off the eagle standard and sat on her "throne," crossing her legs. Suddenly, her two dogs, Aurum and Argentum, materialized next to her. They only appeared at special times, but Reyna was glad that they were there.
"Hey, boys!" Reyna's mouth widened into a smile. "I missed you guys!"
The metal dogs looked at her with their ruby eyes and nuzzled themselves against her legs. Reyna stood up and headed toward the table in the center of the room. She located the ever-present jar of jellybeans and reached into it. She pulled out some jelly beans and threw them to the metal dogs. Aurum and Argentum fought over th4 candy but were satisfied when they ate their share.
Reyna grinned, truly glad that her dogs were here. Just like the eagle brought comfort to Jason, Reyna's metal dogs brought her solace. Of course, Percy kind of helped with that, too, but Aurum and Argentum were special. Just like any other pet, they brought warmth and healing no human ever could.
"Oh, Jason will be happy to see you guys!" Reyna said, heading towards the exit of the Principia.
The dogs barked at the sound of Jason's name and followed Reyna outside.
Reyna knew that Jason was at the stables, taking a lesson on healing. Even though he was a praetor, there were still things he could learn.
Fortunately, Reyna ran into him on the way there. He had some legionnaires with him, and Reyna was surprised to see that Piper wasn't with him. It seemed like she was latched to the hip with him these days. (Eye roll.)
"Aurum, Argentum!" Jason said, his face brightening. The legionnaires, a few demigods from the First Cohort, excused themselves. "Wow, I haven't seen you guys in a while," Jason continued. "Where have you been?"
The blond boy crouched down, and the dogs licked him with their metal tongues. Reyna smiled. She knew that Jason loved these boys.
Jason looked up at Reyna, the scar on his lip twitching as he smiled. "Did they just show up?"
Reyna nodded. "Yeah, I thought you'd like to see them after so long."
Jason nodded. "I really missed 'em."
Reyna smiled. Jason was so cute... Color dotted her cheeks. No, don't think that. Reyna told herself.
Jason noticed her blushing but thankfully didn't say anything. He turned his attention back to Aurum and Argentum, which Reyna was grateful for.
Reyna heard a noise and turned to find some demigods coming back from the arena. In the small crowd, she spotted Percy and Annabeth, talking. Percy then noticed Reyna and he smiled at her. She blushed harder, shielding her face. The raven-haired boy spotted the dogs and his eyes brightened. He stepped out of the small group with Annabeth at his side.
"Gold and Silver!" Percy exclaimed, petting the dogs.
Reyna rolled her eyes. "Aurum and Argentum."
"You know what I mean," Percy flashed her a smile that made Reyna swoon. Annabeth delicately pet the praetor's companions, cautious, as if they might've bitten her.
"It's alright, they're friendly," Reyna explained. "Really, they love people."
Annabeth smiled. "They're gorgeous."
Reyna beamed with pride. "Thank you! They're great companions."
Reyna glanced at Jason and Percy, the two extremely handsome boys playing with her dogs. She couldn't help but think about how adorable both of them were. The guys of course, not the dogs, though Aurum and Argentum were quite cute.
Eventually, Jason stood up and brushed off his jeans. "Well, I missed you guys, but I'd better get going," he said to the greyhounds.
The dogs looked at him with sad ruby eyes, but they let him leave. This left Annabeth, Percy, and Reyna. The two girls that liked the same guy, with that particular guy also present. Reyna tried not to make eye contact with Annabeth. She was afraid she'd do something stupid, like accidentally start flirting with Percy.
Percy eventually stood up from adoring the dogs and he backed away next to Annabeth. "Well, I missed you guys, though I'm not sure how much you missed me..."
Reyna smiled. "They love people. As long as those people don't try to hurt me."
Percy raised his eyebrows. "Remind me never to hurt you."
Annabeth linked her arm through Percy's. "Sorry, Reyna. We'd better get going."
"Wait-" Percy said, making eye contact with his girlfriend. He mouthed something to her and she nodded.
"Actually, Percy wants to talk," Annabeth said, unlinking herself from Percy. "See you at the mess hall, Seaweed Brain."
Reyna arched her eyebrow. Why would Annabeth intentionally leave Percy alone with her? One would think that at this point, Annabeth wouldn't trust the two together. And why had the two had a silent conversation?
Percy rubbed his neck as if he were nervous. Reyna knew she was. Why was Percy acting so conspicuous?
"Reyna, you're probably gonna say no to this..." Percy started. "But..."
Reyna's pulse quickened. What was he going to say? Deep down, she wanted him to ask her to be his girlfriend or something, but it would make no sense that Annabeth would willingly allow that. Reyna gestured for him to continue either way.
"Well, can we like, hold a dance here at Camp Jupiter? Just a short one," Percy said quickly, his eyes searching her face.
Reyna hesitated. A dance? She was kind of disappointed that Percy hadn't said anything else to her, but still... a dance? For what? "Percy, this isn't a-" She started.
"I know, I know," Percy interrupted. "This isn't a school, it's a training camp. Just hear me out."
Reyna gestured over to the mess hall so they could sit. Aurum and Argentum follwed the two.
"Percy, a dance? We don't have the time. Especially with the war."
The son of Poseidon paused. "Well, it would just take up one night. We can spare a single night, right? It'd just be a few hours! Not to mention the campers could use a break. Something fun, like a regular teenager."
"Percy, think of all the planning and time it would take," Reyna rationalized.
"We plan things all the time, here!" Percy replied. "Please?"
Reyna wavered. She started to consider... "Hm... If I did agree, would it be like a formal dance?"
Percy shrugged. "Sure, why not? At least semi-formal."
Reyna nodded. "Alright..."
"Alright, what?"
"Let's see what Jason has to say. All praetors must agree."
Percy nodded eagerly, his green eyes shining. "Thank you so much! I could just kiss you!"
Reyna blushed and Percy did too. After what seemed like forever, she looked up at Percy and grinned. "Just a small one?"
Percy winked before leaning over ad giving her a small kiss on the cheek. "How's that?"
"Perfect," Reyna said. "Let's hope no one saw..."
"Aw, relax," Percy said, although he still glanced around to see if anybody was around. "Alright, let's go find Jason... again."
The two praetors stood up, Reyna's greyhounds still following their every move.
They located Jason in the infirmary. Reyna couldn't figure out why he would be there, but they quickly pulled him aside and explained Percy's idea. Jason thought about the idea for a bit and had some complaints, but eventually, he agreed.
Reyna had never thought about the idea of a dance before. Of course, she had always dreamed of attending a prom or a homecoming. Naturally, she couldn't for she was a demigod. They never had normal lives. Either way, this would probably be the closest thing she would ever get to going to a dance. Reyna already felt herself getting excited, though she didn't voice her feelings.
"So, when should we hold this dance?" Jason asked.
"Hmm. I'm thinking maybe sometime this week, or is that too soon?" Percy put in.
Before Reyna could stop herself, she said. "How about tomorrow night?"
The two boys eyed her like she was insane. Reyna couldn't help but become delighted at the prospect of showing up somewhere looking decently pretty and done up. SHe didn't know where she would get a dress, but she'd try.
"You know what? Why not? We can pull it off," Jason replied to Reyna's enthusiasm.
Percy shrugged. "Ok. A dance tomorrow night. We can do it."
Hmm... A dance! What could this mean? (Honestly, I don't even know myself!) The idea for a dance was kind of an impulsive thought, but I hope it gets you excited about a dance! I'm thinking of something formal so that everyone can get all done up. As always, let me know what you think! Is this too cliche or out of character? I'm trying to have every character as in character as possible. Anyways, this will be sort of challenging for me to write. I don't usually write stuff like this, but I'm sure I'll pull it off. It'll be fun and I hope you guys are excited! As always, review, review, and REVIEW. REMEMBER: I won't write as often in the summer! :)
