Winds of Change
Chapter 10: Beginning Anew
AN: Hello all, welcome back. Firstly as always thanks to everyone who reviewed, favorited and added the story to their alert list or other list. This chapter is a setup chapter for the most part and takes place about 10 years after the last one ends. This is still just prior to the events of the book/show. Just letting everyone know that I'll be using the shows aging when we get to that point but I'm moving events back a few years instead of making characters born early/late like the show did.
Also in case anyone missed it I'm using the book/show rules for relationships which means there will be incestuous couples. I did it earlier with the Targaryen twins but that wasn't a focus, however it's part of that world as even Ned Starks parents were first cousins. I'm putting it out there as I have no clue who some people will end up with including Sansa. I might give Robb a harem too but might not, I haven't decided yet. Anyway here is the new chapter.
293 A.C
When Rhaegar Targaryen had first set sail and left Westeros behind none had known what to expect. Upon leaving his Winterfell he had travelled by horse to Sea Dragon Point where ships had already been waiting. From there they sailed south along the Sunset Sea with stops in Lannisport, Oldtown and The Summer Islands for extra stock before travelling further south and leaving the known world behind.
His ship was accompanied by two Northern ships and all three were full of both stock and people by the time they left the Summer Islands behind them. Many of those who'd joined in their stops were smallfolk, and there were quite a few noble bastards and even nobles that had come though in the latter case they were third and forth sons.
By the time they left the Westeros even his crew had been mixed as there were many women who had been eager to leave behind the Seven Kingdoms. That had been worrying at first and he'd initially been against it when the first women had come. Eventually a deal had been struck with the help of a Northern captain which offered the women jobs such as cleaning and cooking on the ship in exchange for a spot on the ship. That hadn't been his chief concern however as he knew it would only be a matter of time until the women were raped, something he voiced. That was solved as well and though he didn't know the full details of the deal struck all but the married women were openly having sex with members of the crew.
It was just shy of six months after leaving the Summer Islands when they'd finally reached their destination, and no one was happier than Rhaegar who was the only one not having sex on the journey. Thankfully those sorts of shenanigans only happened at night by which point he was sequestered in his quarters. The travel itself had been rough as hell after a certain point with storms and sea beasts of all types to deal with. Upon coming into sight of their destination all but Rhaegar had been stunned to see dragons flying through the sky without care as many had thought them extinct. Upon docking they were greeted by a host of people many of them sporting white hair and purple eyes similar to Rhaegar's own while others had black, red and even hair of gold. All of them sported either purple, green or blue eyes which were slanted.
Many had been surprised that they'd been greeted by a woman who had introduced herself as Priestess Kitara, though she dressed like no priestess or septa any of them had ever seen as most of her body had been on display though none of her intimate areas had been showing. She surprised many when she spoke the Common Tongue and welcomed Rhaegar by name. They soon learned the name of the village they were in was Sunshire, the land itself was Chuidan and many of its people were of Valyrian descent as survivors of the Doom had fled here with their dragons. In time they'd mixed with the native population, their collective knowledge and magic had been combined much as their two peoples had.
They soon learned the land was mystical in nature, it was hidden by a veil that only cleared under a certain specific set of circumstances. Time effected them differently as well than on the outside world the young aged quickly until a certain point and then it slowed to a crawl. Despite this time moved much faster than on the outside world as well, this was proven for Rhaegar when his wives and mother arrived with the children. While it had been nearly two years for them it had been many more years than that for him. His wives had wanted to wait until both Jonaerion and Aegon could sleep through the night.
Unfortunately Viserys had not made the trip, after leaving Dragonstone to head North his mothers ship had been attacked and Viserys had been the first casualty getting struck in the head by an arrow while he'd been on the deck. Luckily a few wolf ships that had been heading North from Pentos and joined the battle, otherwise his mother and Daenerys may have been killed as well.
That had been years ago and since then they had all had time to settle and get used to life in this new land. Sunshire he found was named aptly as the sun seemed to always shine over the village and though there were times that it rained or even snowed those times were often very brief. Despite being called a village the place was huge, larger than Kings Landing was with a population to match numbering close to 1.7 million. Even with the huge population they had problems with neither over population nor waste. They had a privy system that drained away sewage and disposed of it with magic and had a similar system for garbage. Even the lowborn population had a mastery and casual usage of magic that had astounded him upon his arrival which had meant that there was much for him to learn here.
In the years that had passed he'd never once regretted his decision to leave Westeros. Yes, he could have manipulated events so that they won the Rebellion, and he could become king, but he had happily sacrificed that future for his family. Getting to be a husband and a father was far better than what his being king would have been like in his opinion. Elia and Lyanna had truly blossomed both with motherhood and in their studies and the same could be said of his own mother with little Dani and her grandchildren.
Though they had become permanent residents of Sunshire, they had not been alone the entire time. The twins had come while Shaena was with child, though they had since left and returned to Volantis as theirs had been a temporary visit. All of the Starks and Martells had come in intervals through the years though Benjen and Fringilla had elected to stay rather than return North. Brandon and Ashara were more free spirts and were always traveling though they stopped by for a few months every year.
Oberyn had also enjoyed his stay so much he'd stay with his daughters, all of whom were legitimized by Doran. He had also married his paramour Ellaria Sand, though only after much browbeating by Elia and his mother Princess Kierra. The last to come and settle here had been Rickard and Lyarra Stark. It had come as a surprise to many when at a feast celebrating Eddard's 25th birthday Rickard had named his son as King of the North, just four years after the Rebellions end. Following this announcement he and Queen Lyarra had joined Jiraiya and Tsunade on their ship and set sail to Chuidan to visit just a few months later only for that visit to turn into a permanent stay.
At the moment Rhaegar could be found standing out on his office balcony which overlooked the village. The village itself was covered in greenery, which made sense as it had been built at the edge of a forest. Though sections of the forest area had been cleared it had been done in such a way where the village was still considered part of the forest. They were separated from the forest proper by a large wall that spanned nearly the entire village, sparing only the areas that served as the beach and port. Jiraiya had informed him that Naruto was the one who'd created the village and had done so in such a way to honor his original home, he'd created the wall and even the forest that surrounded the village, though the addition of a beach was a decision all his own.
The sound of his door being opened caught his attention and looking over he was greeted to the sight of his wives entering the room. They both wore the garb of a priestess, though for different sects, the outfit consisted of a top that covered only the breasts exposing the valley between them with small, slim chain links running up over the shoulders while small strips of fabric connected the pieces in the front though it dipped into a crescent shape.
The centerpiece was a necklace connected to the top that consisted of three upward facing crescent moons with small stars hanging in the center of each. There were two more crescent moons that rested under the breasts and helped hold the top together though they faced away from each other and in the center separating them was another star. The bottom of the outfit had three options slim fitting pants, a long skirt that went to the ankles, or a skirt with only a strip of fabric that covered the intimate areas in front and back while leaving the legs exposed, and today his wives had chosen the last option.
His breath caught at the sight of them, and he had to take a few moments to gain control of himself. As they wore the outfits of different sects they were in different colors representing their respective element. Elia as an Earth Priestess wore green while Lyanna wore light blue as an Ice Priestess. The other elemental priestesses wore red for fire, dark blue for water, white for wind and yellow for lightning. Rhaegar himself was a fire priest though his outfit was not as tantalizing as that of his wives. Instead he wore grey pants tucked into a pair of black boots, a grey robe-like undertunic and a dark red sleeveless overtunic with grey along the edges held shut by a grey belt. The way the magic effected time in this land showed as while Elia hadn't appeared to age he and Lyanna had until they both looked an age with her.
"Have you come to ensure I take a break?" questioned Rhaegar.
"No, though that's not a bad idea." Said Elia before she proceeded to kiss him though it was broken before long allowing Lyanna to take her turn.
"So what brings you by today?" questioned Rhaegar after taking a moment to compose himself.
"We've been talking and I thought we should invite Robb, Sansa, Arya and Bran to foster here." Said Lyanna.
"All of them, with as many nobles of other lands currently studying at the Academy?" questioned Rhaegar in surprise.
"I had that thought as well. But that could work out well for our plans." Said Elia.
"How so?"
"Well according to Brandon's report Garlan Tyrell signed on as a wolf following his time in the Academy. With that in mind we know that Olenna will know they are coming before the ship reaches Oldtown. She will ensure both Loras and Margaery, especially Margaery are on the ship by the time it departs White Harbor." Said Elia
"This would go double if she were to learn invitations had been sent for Lord Tarly's children." Said Lyanna smirking.
"We also know that Elbert Arryn's son Aiden is currently a guest in Winterfell and a close friend of Robb's so he will no doubt tag along as well." Continued Elia.
"Securing both the Vale and the Reach. With those kingdoms added to Dorne, the Crownlands and the North that will be 5 Kingdoms, enough to force the Iron Islands, the Westerlands and the Stormlands to fall in line." Said a new voice from the balcony surprising all of them.
Looking over they were greeted to the sight of a woman who wore the dark blue outfit of a water priestess. She was fair skinned and slender with round violet eyes and deep red hair. She stood at 5'10" making her taller than both Lyanna and Elia.
"Lady Kushina!" exclaimed all three in surprise.
This woman Kushina they had learned was Naruto's mother and a very powerful goddess in her own right. Amongst her many other names and titles she was called Freyja, All-Mother, the goddess of marriage, love, beauty and a host of others. As such she was the goddess who bound their marriage, which had stunned them when they first met her
"Sorry to interrupt I was flying by when your conversation caught my attention." Explained Kushina.
"Is there a problem with our idea?" questioned Lyanna worrying at her lower lip.
"A small, yet major one. While the plan is nice, I think you need to run it by your sons. Last I checked neither had any desire to return to Westeros, especially Jon." Said Kushina causing three sets of eyes to widen.
Meanwhile in another section of the village, in a small, isolated area two people could be seen. The first was Naruto though he appeared as if he was in his mid-twenties at the latest, though this was meaningless as he had the ability to change his age at will. His blond hair was cut short into many short spikes and he wore only a pair of blue pants and sandals allowing his muscular torso to be seen. Beside him Jonaerion Targaryen now 10 had his curly black hair also short, though not naturally spiky like Naruto's. Unlike Naruto he was also fully dressed, though much differently than he had in his last life as he wore a pair of loose grey pants called hakama and over his torso he wore two thin t-shaped robes called a kimono, the lowest, inner robe was white while the outer robe was blue.
At the moment they were on something of a break as Jon had been training since early in the morning. Though he had many teachers in this second life Naruto had chose to teach him in the sword, which he called kenjutsu. The type of sword he was teaching him to wield was also different than the longswords he was used to. Naruto was teaching him to wield a sword called a katana which was shorter, far more slender and slightly curved with the cutting edge on the outside.
"So I heard you had a bit of trouble yesterday." Said Naruto breaking the silence between them.
"Yeah, I had a flashback, the mutiny." Muttered Jon
He'd had his memories from his original life for the last few years of island time. While he had gotten over a lot of things sometimes something happened and he'd have a flashback. The previous day he'd been practicing fighting against a group with the wolf trainees when it happened. He'd ended up having a panic attack and had quickly been pulled out of there.
"Hey it's fine. You dealt with a lot of trauma, that's why you're here. You've got time to heal in this place." Said Naruto.
"That's part of why I don't want to leave, it's so peaceful here." Said Jon
"Don't let the aesthetic fool you. The people on this continent are just as human as Westeros for the most part. I mean sure this place has creatures and species the rest of the world doesn't, but mortals always find some way to fight or try to control each other." Said Naruto.
"I guess that's true, even the maesters and seven faith weren't above that." Said Jon with a sigh.
That had been a shock to learn. The maesters had enjoyed an implicit trust through Westeros for thousands of years, even if it was more begrudging in the North. The Septons and Septas hadn't been anywhere near as trusted in the North, hell they hadn't even been welcome. That the two groups had been working together to control the Seven Kingdoms for so long and had gone unnoticed would definitely hurt the pride of the nobles and lowborn alike.
"Alright that's enough yapping time to get back to work. I only have you for another two hours before you have to go for your other lessons." Said Naruto causing Jon to sigh before standing to his feet.
Jonaerion Targaryen has a great life. He has a father who was not afraid to show or tell him he loved him and two mothers both of whom almost smothered him in affection. He has a protective older sister who tended to dote on him, a younger brother who despite only being two months younger seemed to look up to him and three younger sisters who he had been immediately taken by. He has four grandparents that lived with him as well as uncles and cousins in their families estate. There were no restrictions placed on what he could learn, and he was training under the greatest teachers he could fathom of, some of whom were actual Gods. He woke up every morning to warmth as he lived in what he could only consider paradise and got to learn magic amongst a host of other things.
He indeed led a great life and what's more is that he knew it. He did not wake up in a small cold room or have to endure hateful glares and comments from his fathers wife or various servants. There were no hateful septas who considered his very existence a blight to the gods nor a maester who spoke down to him as if he was too stupid to understand. He was not Jon Snow, he was not the Bastard of Winterfell who left to join the convicts on the Wall and take the Black as there was no other place he could go to for belonging.
Even with that he missed parts of his old life, Robb, Bran and Rickon his brothers who'd been taken from him far before their time. He missed Arya, the sweet mischievous child that she used to be before everything went to hell. He missed the sanctity of the Godswood and the sense of peace and belonging it brought him. He even missed the man who had been his father, no matter how badly he wanted to punch him in the junk, he wanted to hug him just as badly. He missed Ghost, his loyal companion who had been with him every step of the way until he died swarmed by wights in the Battle of Winterfell.
All of this crossed his mind as he was informed of the plans his parents were making. He sat in a room inside his families estate alongside his brother Aegon, his sister Rhaenys, Daenerys, his uncle Benjen, aunt Fringilla, his Stark grandparents, his grandmother Rhaella, Oberyn Martell and his wife Ellaria. He knew all eyes were on him, he felt it, yet he remained silent as he thought about his answer and about everything that happened last time.
"They don't deserve us, after everything that happened last time, everything you went through, everything Dani and I went through, all that we sacrificed and how we were repaid part of me wants to let them rot." Started Jon softly his hand coming to his chest remembering scars that were not there now and would not happen.
"As much as they would deserve it though, this is bigger than us and bigger than the lordlings clinging to their power and their broken system. The army of the dead will come regardless and if we do nothing we put not just this world but many others at risk and I just can't do that." Said Jon before looking up his once gray eyes now Valyrian purple as a weight came to settle over the room.
"If we do it this time we do it right. We will take all of Essos, from the so-called Free Cities to Slavers Bay. Then we will move on Central Westeros and not just break the wheel, we will splinter it and burn the ashes along with that stupid throne. Then we take the fight beyond the Wall and to the Night King, this time when winter comes, and darkness descends we answer with fire and blood to bring back the light."
Unknown to anyone within the room Sasuke, Sakura, Kushina and Naruto's father Minato all stopped what they were doing as power and intent filled the air. Even further away in the village of Yohai Jiraiya and Tsunade also stopped what they were doing as they sensed it. Naruto himself smirked as he came out of his meditation as he too sensed the power, it seemed the Lightbringer, the true Azor Ahai had finally woken. Now that the forging was finally complete he'd need to temper and then move on to the heat treatment so this time he wouldn't break.
3 months later The North, Westeros
Eddard Stark was King of the North, something none of their initial plans had factored for. However much like becoming a prince he eventually got used to it and settled into the role. It helped that he treated the role like he had as Warden of the North, only now he was the ultimate authority. At the moment he stood on the bridge overlooking Winterfell's courtyard watching his children training, and in truth marveling at the changes that had occurred with them.
His eldest Robb for instance no longer had the Tully auburn hair and blue eyes, instead taking more of a Stark coloring with brown hair and grey eyes. His memories had come in on his tenth birthday and he now possessed a more melancholy air about him, though he also put much more effort into his training and lessons than he had in their last life.
Sansa hadn't changed, at least not as far as her appearance went, though what had changed was her mentality. Now 8 years of age this version of her had no care for southern tales of knights and songs or for being a southern lady, instead she put her energy into her training and lessons. She was smart and had an interest in history, good with a bow and was now beginning to learn to use a blade.
Then there was Arya who at 6 nearly 7 was just as he remembered her though she was flourishing in being able to train. Bran at 4 was also just as he remembered, already a skilled climber and cheerful and was also coming along well in his training. His wife Caitlyn was now Queen of the North, and this time had come to embrace it as her home and as such was much more accepted.
There had been other changes outside of his family as well. The plot between the Citadel and the Seven Faith had seen them expelled from the North. The Septons and their ilk had been easier to deal with as to that point they had been contained to White Harbor. Upon their return after the Great Council the first thing Lord Manderly had done was expel the septons and septas on pain of death. Backed by every Northern Lord as he had been they'd gotten out and quickly, anything of value within was seized and the sept itself was burned. Those who had come North that once followed the Seven soon renounced them and converted fully to the Old Gods.
In the aftermath of the news getting out and spreading they'd seen a population boom as many of the smallfolk left what has since become known as Central Westeros heading either North or to Dorne. They had also seen many of the once faithful who had been disillusioned by the knowledge of the conspiracy, nearly one hundred of the men had gone on to take the Black. Those who didn't such as the former septas, holy sisters and those men who had not voluntarily gone to serve at the Wall had found other avenues in which to live, many becoming teachers, cooks, or matrons to the orphans that were taken in by the various lords for training to become wolves.
Still things had been tense between the North and the central five kingdoms for a while. Jon Arryn had not lasted long as Lord of the Vale as by the time they arrived in White Harbor word had been waiting that Elbert had taken on the Lordship. Things got worse when they learned Robert had ordered men to take Dragonstone and Viserys was killed and for a moment it looked as if they were headed into another war. Things didn't start to settle until his father stepped down as King and left a few years ago, which Eddard knew had been part of his fathers plan.
When he took over as King he implemented very few changes, but he did start doing business with some of the countries in central Westeros, specifically the Reach and Crownlands, while leaving out Kings Landing, the Stormlands and the Westerlands. The only exception had been in the Stormlands and that had been to the isles of Tarth and Estermont.
Eventually Jon Arryn had found himself forced to come North to negotiate, negotiations which had ended heavily in the North's favor. By the negotiations end he'd allowed for southern lords to send their children to the academy however he pointedly refused to accept anyone with Lannister blood, including the Royal Children. He eventually allowed an exception for the children of Roberts siblings, something he was going to do anyway, which he let Jon think he won on. His thoughts on the matter were halted as footsteps alerted him he was not alone.
"Your grace, riders have been spotted on approach." The voice that spoke was female and one he recognized.
Turning he was greeted to the sight of a young woman, she was tall for her age at just over five and a half feet, with long blond hair styled into a single large braid that ran down the center of her head. She wore northern style wolf robes and carried a sword on her back and a pair of axes on her hips. She was considered by many to be quite beautiful and even at the young age of 13 had many vying for her hand, which he knew was the result of her having proper training from a young age and as a result not getting her face messed up repeatedly especially her nose. For this young woman was none other than Brienne Tarth, who he'd managed to steal away from the Stormlands quite easily in negotiations with her father.
"They've arrived then. Let's go greet them." Said Eddard moving off with Brienne falling in step with him.
By the time he'd reached the East Gate he was not surprised to see his family already gathered. Those outside of the North would be surprised that his family would gather to welcome anyone at the gates, however as stated before he had changed little from how he did things previously and always greeted visiting lords at the gates. When the gates opened it was not visiting lords he was greeting however as a group of wolves led the way followed by a group on horses and as they all entered he was surprised to see a wheelhouse as well. As three of the group got off of their horses they removed their hoods shocking many and getting a smile from Eddard upon seeing Brandon, Benjen and Lyanna.
"Welcome home." Said Ned happily as his siblings approached and he got hugs from all of them.
"Gods it's good to be back." Said Benjen as parted from Lyanna.
"Benjen's right, it's been far too long." Said Lyanna before turning and engulfing Catelyn in a hug.
By this point three more people had climbed from their horses and as they removed their hoods he was greeted to the sight of Ashara, Fringilla and one that made the breath freeze in his lungs as he spotted Jon. They two eyed each other for several long moments before Eddard was pulling him into a fierce hug which was returned just as fiercely.
"Gods it's good to see you again." Whispered Ned.
"You too." Said Jon before they broke apart so Ned could get a good look at him.
"You look good Jon, happy." Said Eddard smiling.
"It took a while, but I feel good." Said Jon.
When they broke away from each other Jon found himself almost immediately engulfed in another hug which he returned as well.
"God I missed you brother." Said Robb clearly trying to hold in his emotions
"I missed you too brother." Said Jon his voice just as strained.
When the two broke apart both had huge smiles before Jon backed away much to the confusion of several people. Instead of greeting his now free aunt and going down the line he ran to the wheelhouse and knocked twice before opening the door. The first through the door surprised many as it was none other than Lyarra Stark, their former queen.
She had only barely cleared the doors before Jon was catching a pair of human missiles with what was clearly practiced ease holding them for a few moments before setting them both on the ground. He stayed on a knee for a few moments as he removed each of their hoods before taking their hands and walking back towards the line. As they approached many could see they were clearly twin girls with the same dark brown hair that their mother sported though they both had the Targaryen purple eyes.
"This is Naella and this is Alara. Girls this is your uncle Ned." Said Jon and Eddard was only slightly surprised when they released their brother and hugged him.
The welcoming feast was in full swing in a very short order. They had been given some time to clean up and both Benjen and Lyanna were surprised that their married quarters were still theirs. Jon however had a new room than he had in the last life, this time in the family wing directly across from Robb. The twins however had been set up in a shared room, given the one between Sansa's and Arya's.
Robb had met him while he was in his rooms and caught him up which didn't take long as the only one who had seemed to change was Sansa. Arya and Bran hadn't changed a bit from how they were at this age in the last time through. The other major change had been Catelyn who had been warm and welcoming in her dealings with him. He'd known that she had been given the memories of their previous lives but hadn't expected she would apologize for her treatment of him, or that she would call her alternate self a dumb bitch.
Throughout the feast he'd shared dances with many of the maidens in attendance, including the daughters, nieces and even grandchildren of some of the Northern Lords. He'd shared dances with Naella, Alara, Sansa and even Arya as well as his mother and all of his aunts. He remembered how he used to envy Robb these events but only now was he understanding just how tiring it all was. As such he had taken the moment to slip out of the rear exit into the gallery for a bit of respite and was surprised to see Robb already there.
"You okay?" questioned Jon
"Not really. I never really liked these things before, now it takes everything I have not to stab anyone." Said Robb.
"The Wedding?" questioned Jon.
"The Wedding. You know they had to convince me to go, my instinct was to stay on the front." Said Robb
"I get it, I still wake up some days expecting to see my chest mangled." Said Jon
"We're we really such horrible leaders Jon. To be betrayed in such horrible ways?" questioned Robb.
"No, you weren't." came a voice shocking them
Looking up they were greeted to the sight of Eddard standing in the room behind them with a frown on his face. Without a word he crossed the distance and pulled both of them into himself.
"You two were great leaders. You were both thrust into positions you neither asked for nor wanted. Despite this you made good sound decisions for the most part, despite the undermining of your positions. It was jealousy, envy and spite that led to your betrayal Jon. Robb your mother made a series of horrible decisions and what happened with Rickard could not be helped. The Westerling girl played on your grief and without anyone to council you and perhaps the adherence I placed on honor you fell victim to her scheme." Said Ned softly
"Is that why things are so different now?" questioned Robb quietly.
"What are you talking about?" questioned Jon frowning.
"We have done away with many of the southern ideals and standards. Instead we have gone back to some of the older First Men practices. People even lords and ladies are free to explore without the pressure of marriage provided there are no complications." Said Ned.
"Sounds something like Chuidan. Marriage isn't such a big deal there and there's no such thing as a bastard. They are also much more free with their desires from what I've been able to learn, though I don't know the extent." Said Jon.
"I do. Let's say they make the Dornish seem tame in certain aspects." Said Ned.
He rather vividly remembered some of the things he'd seen and experienced while in that land. Jiraiya had apparently created the place while he was inebriated and under his Freyr persona, as such the place took on some of his virtues and caused a lessening of ones inhibitions. Rather hastily he banished those thoughts as it wouldn't do to dwell on them in present company.
"By the way grandfather wanted to know if you've picked a new wife yet." Said Jon surprising both of them.
"No, I haven't really given it any thought." Said Robb.
"I haven't either, not seriously." Said Eddard.
"Well I have an idea for that. You need a northern bride and there is a certain family that I think both deserves and earned the honor for their loyalty even if they don't remember it." Said Jon
"Who?" questioned Robb curious
"House Mormont, specifically Dacey." Said Jon.
"You're right on the loyalty. House Mormont was always loyal, and Dacey was one of my fiercest warriors." Said Robb.
"She's also incredibly beautiful and you've always had a crush on her." Said Jon getting Robb to blush.
"Oh!" said Eddard in surprise as this was the first he was hearing of this.
"It was just a crush; besides she was so much older than me." Said Robb.
"Was being the keyword. I was surprised to see her looking so young, she's barely older than us now." Said Jon
"I noticed that too. She should be nearly grown now, instead she's only 13." Said Robb.
"If that doesn't say Godly intervention I don't know what does and that's just one." Said Jon.
"One?' questioned Ned.
"Jiraiya and Naruto have been talking about the benefits of a harem to my parents according to Rhaenys. Who says Robb couldn't have one as well, I mean traditionally speaking the Winter Kings had them for generations." Said Jon stunning Robb.
"Alright I think that's enough for now. Let's head back in. I'll reach out to Maege in the morning regarding Dacey." said Eddard shooing both of his boys back in.
'Honestly what's that old perv thinking, seriously harems.' Thought Eddard shaking his head as he followed behind them.
Though their stay in Winterfell was only supposed to be for one month it had easily extended to nearly three, which meant they had been gone from Chuidan and thus Sunshire for nearly four months now. This however couldn't be helped as when his mother's ship arrived the shipwrights had taken the time to upgrade it. Because of how old the ship was and how many improvements they'd made to the craft in the time it was built much had needed to be done. For starters the hull was reinforced with steel and the ores had been completely done away with in favor of three propellers, which required three engines, and they'd changed up the armaments to adding devices that launched both arrows and iron spears, all things that Brandon's ship was capable of already considering how much he travelled.
As if those innovations weren't enough Jon had discovered that the smithing process had also been improved upon. In the North the days where they relied on pure muscle power were over as they'd apparently gotten the designs for machines. He remembered Mikken's smithy in his last life had been very basic now they had devices like power hammers, pressing machines and rolling mills amongst other things. His surprise at this site had him seeking out Mikken and they spoke for a while with Mikken revealing that his father, Rhaegar, had gifted House Stark with the designs for the machines prior to his parents being married.
The conversation had really picked up when he informed the man that he was learning to be a smith himself and some of the things he was already being taught. Comparing what he had learned so far with how they trained in the North they had rather naturally come across the idea of cross training and sharing techniques. While he informed him that the secret to forging Valyrian Steel had truly been lost and he'd not be able to learn the man had shrugged it off as he would still learn a new style of forging. Still this discovery had led to Jon joining the smithing classes for the duration of his time in the North.
He was in for a surprise that first day when he was introduced to Gendry Waters, who he knew should have been in Kings Landing. A conversation with his uncle revealed that all of Robert Baratheon's bastard children were in the North which at this point was seven. He informed him they all knew who their father was but also knew he had no idea where they were or even their names with the exception of two of them.
Having lived the life of a bastard once before he knew it was a hard life even if his had been relatively easy compared to other bastards. That said he had still told his mother about that development and while she hadn't been happy and had given her brother a very pointed look had invited them to come with them and leave Westeros behind them, they could come up with a new surname and leave the life of bastards behind. All of them had agreed and had chosen the name Northbrook. They had even come up with a crest which was the head of a reindeer on a grey field.
Arya and the twins had fit well together and had in a rather short time become very close. Jon was actually glad to see it as he remembered Arya had never had a lot of friends growing up the first time and while she had a fair few now none of them were her age. The twins however had personalities and interests that closely aligned with hers and as such they could usually be found together getting into mischief.
True to his uncles word he'd opened up talks with House Mormont and within a few weeks the betrothal between Robb and Dacey was announced. All offers for Sansa that came in the aftermath were soundly rejected with his uncle simply stating she's too young. Truthfully he was waiting as he didn't know what to do with her nor would anyone until her memories came through and they saw how she developed.
It had also been announced that Robb, Sansa, Arya and Bran would all be leaving to stay with their grandparents for a few years. Many had been surprised but the Lords were informed that they were going to study under Jiraiya and Tsunade. At that much of the surprise had come to a halt as none could think of better teachers for the children of the royal family. It was also announced that his aunt Catelyn was once more with child, and many had sent well wishes her way. Jon also got to meet his great aunt Branda as well as her family. He already knew her sons Kegan and Bradyn as well as Bradyn's wife Miya, but that was his first time meeting the rest of the family.
One thing that had happened that he truly hadn't expected had been when he'd been out with the young hunters with Robb about 6 weeks into his time in the North. They had been getting ready to head back to Winterfell with the caught game when he'd stepped away to relieve himself. On his way back to the group he was ambushed, by one of the trainees. He'd reacted immediately to the ambush managing to catch the leaping attacker and pin them to the group on their back when he realized who it was. Despite being younger than when he knew her, the pale skin, red hair and blue-grey eyes had told him this was a young Ygritte. Stunned he'd released her and stumbled back allowing her to regain her feet.
"You remember me, good." She'd said before she punched him in the chest.
The next thing he knew they were hugging, though he didn't know if he grabbed her, or it was the other way around. What he did know is that he'd held her while sitting against the bark of a tree and they'd stayed that way until Robb found them. He'd introduced her to Robb who'd been just as surprised as he was that she remembered, her argument that the Gods wanted them together if she remembered had actually gotten to them seeing as they actually could verify that. Eventually once they returned to Winterfell they introduced her to both his mother and his uncle. When she learned that Jon was already to be married to two others even she had simply shrugged and stated she had no problem sharing. She had gone on to state a man having multiple women was seen as a symbol of strength amongst the Free Folk clans.
His uncle and mother had admitted to knowing of this particular practice but from what they knew of her she hadn't seemed the type. Regardless it was arranged for Ygritte to join them when they headed back to Chuidan, not that she left Jon's side for long since their reunion. Ygritte's presence had also drudged up thoughts of Tormund and Val but as much as he wanted to know of them he'd pushed the thoughts aside as he knew already that magic, even warging could not bypass the wall with the exception of god's and the three eyed raven.
One person he had checked on however was Jorah Mormont which was rather easy as all he'd needed to do was ask his uncle. Jorah it turns out with the aid of his uncle had married a northern woman, Alys Hornwood and as of this point had two children first a girl then a boy the oldest of which was of an age with Bran. After discussing it with his mother they had invited Jorah and his family to come with them and visit for a while.
Jon knew that Jorah marrying a different woman would mean he would never capture and sell people into slavery which in turn meant he'd never go into exile and his father Jeor would never voluntarily go to the Wall as he'd only done so before to make up for his son's shameful actions. Jon knew then that the Wall would be a very different place with all of it's personnel changes and he had no desire to experience it, his chest started itching just at the thought of it.
They had also gotten word from the Reach from both Lords Tarly and Tyrell. Just as his mother told him would happen Lord Tarly jumped at the chance to send his children to study and train with the Targaryen heirs. House Tyrell had also reacted as predicted and while the words had come from Mace Tyrell they all knew the idea was more than likely his mothers. He had been surprised to learn from his uncle that all of Randyll Tarly's children were currently students of the Academy in White Harbor as were Margaery and Loras Tyrell which would make it easier when they left for home as they were already in the North.
Of course thinking of Sam had him remember how he'd used him as a shield until he was of no more use and then left him to rot when he was sentenced to the wall. Sam had proven numerous times he was a coward, but Jon intended on fixing that and getting a measure of revenge along the way as well. Thinking of Sam soon had him thinking of Gilly though like Tormund and Val he could do nothing for her at the moment and as such forced himself to put her out of his mind.
It was when they journeyed to White Harbor that they received another surprise, this one in the form of Howland Reed and his family. His mother had greeted him warmly and with a hug before giving one to his wife as well, while his uncles had settled for shaking the mans hand. Howland revealed he came to ask Lyanna to look after his children. Both of his children possessed powerful magic and his own visions had shown him they would only reach adulthood if he sent them with her. He had then told his uncle that when Bran was ready to send him to Greywater Watch and he would train him to succeed him as the Three Eyed Raven.
That was how Jon found himself standing on the deck of his mothers ship as they sailed away from Sea Dragon Point. All of the young Starks including Kegan's son Broden were with him, along with Dacey Mormont and her sisters, Jorah Mormont and his family, Meera and Jojen Reed, Ygritte, Robert Baratheon's bastard children, the Tarlys, two Tyrells and he'd even been able to convince his uncle to let Brienne come as well. None of them however could see Lyanna from her position at the wheel of her ship with the devilish smirk on her face, not even Jon had any idea of what she Elia and Rhaegar had planned for them. A quick look over at her brother Benjen and another at Ser Oswell sporting matching smirks let her know they were on the same wavelength.
'Enjoy the trip brats, the lot of you are in for one hell of time.' Thought the Princess as she fought hard to hold in her laughter.
AN: That's it, the chapter's done. Like I said mostly a setup chapter to get ready for the next arc. I wanted to do some scenes in Central Westeros but decided to hold off on those, but the exposure of the faith of seven is going to have big consequences. Now fun stuff if you want to see a pic of the priestess outfits Lyanna and Elia wore look up moon priestess elf goddess in google and you'll see pics by Second Life Marketplace. Click on that pic and you'll see the second version, just picture the other colors in your mind. To see how I picture Brienne's face search for Brienne of Tarth fanart EcaJT, it's a DeviantArt pic. As for her armor and hair it's Eivor's raven clan armor from Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Young Ygritte I imagine as Sabrina Carpenter from Girl Meets World just with red hair, though this is the only time young Ygritte will be mentioned.
Anyway I think that's it. Thanks for reading and please review. Till next time, LATER.
