In summer, 1985 in Hawkins, the newly opened Starcourt Mall has become the focal point of the town. Our heroes are eager to move forward with new jobs, friendships, and romances. However, a mysterious radio broadcast leads to the discovery of a new threat, while odd behavior by some residents causes a fear that despite closing the portal to the Upside-Down, it's still a threat.

Within the aftermath of a dangerously toxic relationship, Cassandra Grant moves in with her mom's younger brother, Bob. When arriving in Hawkins, she hopes to blend in with the crowd, perfectly content to being a ghost. She doesn't get that wish after her boss gets murdered, which she suspects ties in with the disappearance of the boy she used to babysit.
