I could feel Bella's eyes on me, watching my every move. I probably looked ridiculous, a girl in a flower print dress wielding a weapon forged by the Gods. My muscles were tense, the ADHD that usually had me shifting on my feet or wringing my hands had me ready to jump in at any moment. "Emmett, Rose, get Jasper outside." Carlisle's voice cut through the air. Emmett nodded.
"Come on Jasper." Emmett muttered. Jasper thrashed in Emmett's hold as he was dragged away, Rosalie helping her Mate wrangle him outside.
"I'm sorry Bella." Esme cried, following them out.
"Aspen, you can relax now." Carlile said. I didn't release my muscles until Jasper disappeared behind the treeline. I set the but of my weapon on the floor, leaning on it slightly. The thing was at least a foot taller than I was, with a Celestial Bronze blade and a normal, mortal bronze shaft. My Vines retreated back into the ground, and with a small wave of my hand, the wood repaired itself. I hope Esme doesn't mind. "Do you have any Ambrosia on you?" I nodded, hosting my weapon onto my shoulders as I moved towards my purse.
"You're lucky I keep some on me." I said softly, "But she can't have any until the glass is out of the wound."
"Do you want me to drive you to the hospital?" Carlisle asked Bella as I set my Scythe against the wall.
"Here please." Bella whispered. Leaving my Scythe against the wall, I pulled out a small baggie of crushed squares. I followed Carlisle, Alice and Edward (who was carrying Bella) over to the kitchen. Bella was seated at the kitchen table. Edward then reluctantly left at Bella and Alice's insistence. After a little bit, Alice left as well. Carlisle started to pull the glass from Bella's arm. I wrapped Bella's free wounds when the glass was free. "Well that's everyone." Bella sighed, "I can clear a room at least."
"It's not your fault." Carlile said. "It could happen to anyone."
"Could, but it usually just happens to me."
"Don't worry Bella." I started softly, "I know people who've had it far worse than you."
"After that little display, I'm sure there is." Bella then turned to me. "What...what are you anyway."
"Dad and I will explain tonight, ok?" I looked at Carlisle, "He has to know. But, he won't tell."
"I understand." Carlisle responded with a nod.
"How can you do this?" Bella asked the blonde vampire. "Even Alice and Esme…"
"Years and years of practice. I barely notice the scent anymore."
"Do you think it would be harder if you took a vacation from the hospital for a long time. And weren't around any blood?" Bella wondered.
"Maybe. I've never felt the need for an extended holiday. I enjoy my work too much."
"That I can believe." I spoke up, still gently wrapping Bella's arms, "I swear, even the older Apollo kids were impressed at your skills, granted you are their much much older half-brother." Carlisle laughed lightly.
"That was an interesting day. How are my siblings? Lee and Michael." I paused wrapping for a second, my face falling before I continued.
"Dead." I told him, "Lee died while trying to protect Camp, and then Michael died defending Olympus."
"I'm so sorry." I looked up to him with a rueful smile. Carlile then turned back to Bella, taking a final piece of glass out of her arm.
"Done." I then pulled the Ambrosia out of the bag.
"Here, have some of this." I said to Bella, offering her a small piece.
"What is it?" Bella asked, eying the strange food.
"It's Ambrosia. It'll help." Bela reluctantly took the piece and popped it into her mouth. Her eyes widened.
"Why does it taste like the grilled cheese Mum made for me my first day of school?" Bella directed the question at me again. "And why do I feel so much better?"
"It has healing properties, Dad and I will explain later. I'll go fix up the lounge room, it's the least I can do."
"The bleach is under the sink." Carlisle told me. I nodded and then left the two to their devices. I found the bleach easily, as well as a scrub. I poured the bleach onto the floor, then hiked up my skirt, got on my hands and knees and scrubbed the floor as hard as I could, collecting the glass pieces as I went. Esme then appeared beside me, with a rubbish bag. I smiled at her, dumping the shards of glass into it.
"How were you able to do this so fast?" Esme asked.
"In Summer I was in a room with a bunch of boys, and a handful of girls. When inspection came around, the boys mysteriously disappeared, leaving all of us girls to clean up. So, I've learned to clean in a rush."
"That's a lovely skill to have." After the whole mess was cleaned, Edward was going to take Bella and I home.
"I'll be in the bed of the truck." I said, pulling my purse over my shoulder and grabbing my Scythe, "Make sure nothing gets us. An open wound to Monsters is like a magnet." I hopped into the bed, my hand gripping one of the side panels as I knelt, my Scythe tight in my grip. My Battle Reflexes kept my sight sharp. I was tense the entire time. When we parked at home, I hopped out of the bed of the truck and heard the last bit of conversation.
"...I'll be in your room." Edward was saying.
"Uh, no, not right now you are." I said, setting my Scythe in the ground, "Dad is looking out the window right now and is freaking out because I've got this thing." I indicated to my Scythe. "So, everyone, in the front door, now." I lead the two to the front door. Pressing a plate on my Scythe it became a necklace again, and just as I fastened it on my neck, the door swung open to reveL Dad.
"What happened?" He demanded.
"Let's go inside." I suggested, "Don't know who's lurking around." Everyone shuffled into the house and to the living room. "Bella, go upstairs to bed." I told her softly, gently placing my hand on her bandaged arm, "I'll let Dad know what happened." Bella nodded, going upstairs with Edward trailing behind. Dad went to stop him but my hand on his shoulder made him pause. When the two had disappeared upstairs, Dad turned to me.
"What was all that about?"
"Bella knows." I said softly, "The Cullens...they're Vampires, not from our world. Jasper, apparently he's the newest to start the whole 'vegetarian' Vampire diet, they only feed off animals, and Bella cut herself and Jasper attacked but she's fine, she had some Ambrosia and it worked like a charm, however she will still have to heal a bit without it." Dad slumped into a chair.
"So...what does that mean for us?" Dad asked me. I slipped into the seat next to him and took Dad's hand in my own.
"It means we have to tell her about the Immortal world. She's known about the Vampires for a while it seems, so I think she'll be...mildly ok with this." Dad pressed his palms into his eyes.
"I didn't want her to be part of this world." Dad muttered. I rubbed his back.
"I didn't either but…" I looked up to the staircase where Bella and Edward had disappeared. "You know the Fates work, they never do us any favours."
