Forbidden Sacred Ground!
Skypiea, Angels Beach
After Conis gives the Straw Hats an explanation about the island and God while Nami found another island that's pretty far from the Angels Beach, it got Zoro, Ventus, Caius, Robin, Sanji, and Chopper curious about God while Luffy and Usopp on the other hand is completely surprised and shocked.
"There's actually a God?!" Luffy exclaimed. "And he lives on an island up here that no one's allowed to walk on?!"
Usopp starts to panic a little, knowing that there something off about the island after Conis's explanation. Ventus, Caius, and Leon had a very bad feeling about this when Conis mentioned about 'God'.
"Right." Conis replied with a nod.
"You mean the 'God'? The same one from all the old stories and he actually lives on the island next door to you?" Chopper asks surprisingly.
"He does. I'm sure that everyone notice the big sign that said 'Godland Skypiea'. That means this land was ruled by the almighty God, Eneru." Conis explains.
"Gods name is Eneru?" Sanji inquires while Robin glances at Conis with curious look on her face.
"He knows and sees everything, he's truly unmentioned." Conis told them.
"Everything?!" Usopp repeats, earned a nod from her.
"He keeps us all-seeing eyes focused on everyone, always." Conis answered.
"For real?!" Usopp exclaims, stands up in shock.
"Like right now?!" Luffy adds.
"Yes." Conis replied, turns to them when Chopper drops his jaws in panic.
"I hate it when people staring at me and I can't see them!?" Chopper shouts, searching.
"Ha, God huh?" Zoro said simply, calmly drinking his water.
"Wait, you mean you don't believe in God?" Chopper asks, turns to him. "But why not."
"Well, for me, it's not a matter of belief. I don't see proof of it, one way or another." Zoro points out, turns to the reindeer. "And to be honest, I don't really care to. But if you want to, go ahead. It's not up to me to deny anyone that little beliefs."
'Sounds a bit vague.' Caius mentally thought, but not saying it to the swordsman.
"Still, to think there's a God living in the Upper Yard." Ventus muttered with a ponder.
"So, Conis, if this guy, Eneru, lives in the Upper Yard and it's so close, then you must've set eyes on him before?" Sanji asks.
"Absolutely not! It's forbidden to go there!" Conis answered, waving her hands defensively. "The Upper Yard is sacred ground and a place only for our God to rest! I'm sorry."
Skypiea, Upper Yards
Nami continued to look at the Upper Yard, which she noticed something is off about it when she saw how gigantic those trees are.
"I can't get over this size of those trees." Nami said to herself with a serious, yet confused look. "Wait a minute...So they do have earth and ground up here..."
Even though, Nami is still trying to figure out of how did the Sky Island got the Upper Yard and why, which she'll have to tell her crew of what she discovered.
Skypiea, Angels Beach
While back at Conis' home, Ventus notice the excited look on Luffy's face and it's telling him that the rubber Captain is planning something stupid.
"I see, a place we're not allowed to go to, no matter what, huh?" Luffy said with sparkles around him.
'Oh no!' Ventus mentally thought as Usopp shouts with his face pale after turned his head to Luffy.
"I've seen that look in your eyes before, Luffy, and it always gets into trouble!" Usopp protests, grabs hold of him and shakes him. "When the lady says we can't go there because it's sacred or whatever, that's exactly what it means! We cannot go there! I am not letting you drag me down with you this time!"
"Moron! You're making it worse!" Ventus berates him with white eyes and shark-like teeth.
"No, hey~!" Luffy said with a big grin. "I understand we're not supposed to go there~!"
Leon and Caius widen their eyes and turns to Zoro.
"Is he always like that?" Leon asks.
"In more ways than one." Zoro answered which Leon and Caius knew the rubber Captain wants to go there while the rest of the crew, Pagaya, and Conis looks at Luffy.
"Come on, you really think I'm the kinda guy who would do that~?" Luffy questions, turns away with a chuckle.
'Yes...absolutely.' The Straw Hats mentally thought with a sweat drop, but not saying it to their Captain when Luffy thought of something.
"Hey wait, if this guy is God, then shouldn't he forgive you no matter what you do?" Luffy questions. "Walking around on some forbidden island doesn't seem like a big deal to me."
"No! Breaking any laws sent forth by the almighty is nothing but a sacrilege." Conis protests, waving her hands.
"Well, guess it doesn't matter either way." Luffy said with a mouth full, continued eating.
'He's too reckless!' Leon and Caius mentally thought in disbelief. 'Does he ever thought about consequences of his actions?!'
'If we're gonna die here, I'll make sure I'm dragging his sorry ass to Hell!' Ventus mentally thought with a tick mark on his head.
'He didn't know even if it meant he died in the process!' Chopper mentally thought in disbelief, dropped his jaw.
"Tell me, I assume there are some dramatic and vicious consequences adventuring the Upper Yard. Do you know what they are?" Robin questions, turned to Conis.
"Yeah, I do." Conis replied, slowly turned away since she and her father knew about the consequences if anyone on Sky Island ever set foot on the Upper Yard.
"What are they?" Zoro inquires, wanted to know.
"It is our beliefs that if you go there, you will not return alive." Pagaya explains.
"Everyone who goes there dies?!" Usopp exclaims when Sanji was left speechless at those words, now really worried about Nami.
"I must admit, I just as worried about Nami as all of you are." Pagaya told them. "I hope she hasn't sailed too close to the Upper Yard."
It got Sanji even more worried, turned to the open White Seas, cried out Nami's name. Ventus checked her scent, but it got him notice that she's already too close to the Upper Yard.
"Alright, let's go and find her." Luffy said with a grin. "We're wasting time."
"YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT SAVING NAMI! YOU JUST WANNA SENT IT RIGHT YOUR TWISTED URGE TO THE EXACT OPPOSITE YOU'VE BEEN TOLD!?" Usopp yelled with white eyes and shark-like teeth, shaking Luffy frantically.
"I'm starting to wonder if my life is worth joining this crew." Leon said with a sigh.
"Believe me, me and Caius thought the same thing." Ventus told him while Sanji cries her name.
Skypiea, Upper Yard
Meanwhile, Nami continued looking at the Upper Yard, mostly at the trees.
"Those are the biggest trees I've ever seen in my life." Nami states. "They've gotta be hundreds of years old. That or things grow bigger a few miles up in the sky? And they're so tall...I can't even see where they top out."
Then, Nami heard voices that was coming from the inside of the Upper Yard, hearing about the treasure that's coming around here. It got her attention after someone mentioned about it and more than one people are around looking for it.
'There are people up there.' Nami mentally thought, riding the Waver while following the voices. 'The voices came from over here'
Skypiea, Angels Beach
Later, the Straw Hats are about to get ready to leave the island and get Nami, but Luffy was too busy stuffing his face with food which he only cares about going to the Upper Yard instead of the navigator.
"Luffy, we gotta get going!" Sanji told him as he turns to Luffy, who's still eating.
"Yeah, I know! Just give me a sec!" Luffy said with his mouth full.
"Fine, don't listen to me! But you're gonna feel awful if something bad happens to Nami while you were busy stuffing your face." Sanji points out in annoyance. "The food will be here when we get back."
"I'm right behind you!" Luffy said, but still eating.
"Forget it, Sanji. This idiot just don't even know our priorities." Ventus told him, then turns to Conis. "Conis, we know this guy and he's a complete moron in more ways than one. Could you tell us how to get there? We're heading out to get Nami."
"But, you don't know for sure!" Conis protests.
"Hate to break it to you, but I know. My nose doesn't lie, and I already got her scent that she's already in that direction." Ventus points out when Conis widen her eyes in shock.
Sanji turns to the young Dragoon and notice the look on his face, which he can tell he's worried about Nami.
"But still, I can't explain how devastating it could be to us to incur the wrath of our God, Eneru." Conis told him.
"This 'Eneru' doesn't sound like the nicest guy you could've found." Chopper said with his face pale, gulped.
"He doesn't have to be...He's God." Zoro points out calmly.
Skypiea, Upper Yard
While at the island, Nami continued to ride on the Waver while following the voices, but noticed a ship that's been wrecked recently as she stops and looked at it.
"What a wreck, looks like there's no one on board." Nami muttered, sails close to the ship and investigates when she noticed a satchel and a canteen, and notice some scratch marks on the side of the ship. "Claw marks, there's something big by the looks of it."
Suddenly, a bird lands on a dial when it presses the vertex, causing her to turn when she noticed it. The bird then flies away while Nami listens to the voices that's been recorded on the Tone dial.
"Wait, those voices were coming from that shell." Nami said with her eyes widen, looks closer and taps on the dial. "Crazy, it's sounds like there's a person trapped inside."
Nami grabs the Tone dial, presses the vertex as she then starts listening to voice that's been recorded which shocked her.
"I see. So, this shell can record voices." Nami quietly said, but starts listening about the treasure around in the forest and her face pale when the last information is recorded about God's wrath and died. "Were they killed...By God?"
Nami then slowly looks at the Upper Yard after hearing the rustling leaves blowing, realizing that she and her crew are in for a lot of trouble if she doesn't leave and warn them. But knowing about Luffy, he just wanted to get to the Upper Yard for his adventure.
"This place, it's so creepy. That's it, I think it's time to get out of here." Nami said, but an explosion which it got her attention as the flock of birds flew away.
Inside of the forest, one of the explorers was running for his life and cries out for help, but one of the Birkan chases after him. The rustle of the bushes was heard and Nami is starting to get terrified, hoping one of them won't head in her direction.
Skypiea, Angels Beach
After Ventus and Caius dragged Luffy out of Conis' house and leaving the food behind, they're now back at the Going Merry to get Nami before she gets killed.
"Time to set sail! For the place of no return that we're not supposed to go anyway!" Luffy ordered excitedly while Pagaya, who's still on shore, was measuring the wind blowing.
"Ah, I'm so very sorry, there's no headwind blowing." Pagaya informed them with an apology. "If you were to set sail at this moment, you'd stranded an extraordinary amount of time getting to the Upper Yard!"
"What?!" Luffy exclaims.
"So, what's an extraordinary amount?" Usopp asks.
"It's eventually longer than it would take if your ship was powered using our Dial energies." Pagaya explains. "But it's not."
"That's real nice, but we need a number." Sanji suggests while Usopp dropped his jaws in shock.
"Sorry, only the wind knows your answer." Pagaya apologizes while Usopp complains.
"Old man, you gotta know a faster way to get us there other than just sitting here and waiting for the wind to pick up." Luffy told him which it got Usopps attention.
"See, Luffy, it doesn't matter what we do! You're always gonna find me a way to put me in danger! I can't live like this!" Usopp scolds.
"What's your problem?" Luffy questions with annoyed look.
"You're an idiot." Ventus, Leon, and Caius told him in a deadpan look.
"I'm nervous." Usopp answered simply.
Skypiea, Upper Yard
At the inside of the jungle of the Upper Yard, the survived explorer kept running while try to either find a place to hide or get off of the island and use what's left of the ship to get out. The Birkan leaps from tree to tree, chasing after the explorer as he lets out a loud whistle.
He's a bald and muscular man of relatively average heigh with somewhat tanned skin. He has a small pair of wings sprouting from his back which extended down to near his waist. He has a small mustache and beard around his mouth, and wears a pair of small sunglasses over his eyes. He also wears a green sleeveless shirt, gray pants with several pockets, a long and flowing white sash around, and dark leather boots with bandages around it.
The explorer then stops running with a heavy pant, looks back when it got him wonder if that Birkan stops chasing after him and why is he whistling. Then, a loud rustle was heard when a large dog chases after him as he widen his eyes in fear and dread.
The dog is a pale-furred somewhat similar to Chouchou in overall appearance, though much larger. He has a black nose.
"Oh no!"
Suddenly, a Birkan Sky Knight and his pet bird descends down into the jungle with a smirk on his face and interferes by kicking the dog, causing the explorer to flee and the first Birkan to scowl.
The second Birkan resembles a stereotypical aviator: he has thin, pointed mustache that splits into two parts; on his here there's an aviator hat decorated with wings, and a pair of goggles on the front. His attire is composed of an orange fur-lined jacket, with brown swollen sleeves decorated by beige spots; loose matching orange pants held up by a belt, fur-lined gloves and boots, and a purple scarf around his neck. He's dark haired, and on his back there is a pair of typical wings. He carries a jousting lance.
The bird is purple-feathered with gigantic wings, on its enormous body and large enough to carry a full-grown man. It has red feathers around its neck. Its head is white, has a sharpened beak and the eyes are yellow colored. Its tail is further purple colored with lighter extensions to it. The claws underneath its legs are white, with sharp black nails.
"Bastard! He took my prey!" The first Birkan snarled, leaps away.
Outside of the Upper Yard, Nami continues to follow the voices that's coming from the inside.
"Those voices...Those sounds...What were they?" Nami questions herself.
While inside of the Upper Yard, the second Birkan laughs with amusement, chasing after the explorer.
"Just give up!" The second Birkan said, thrusting his lance when the fat Birkan leaps in midair.
The fat Birkan was a round-shaped man with fair skin and long dark red hair. He is clad in a white, full-body jumpsuit, which has vertical line of golden rings that run from front to back, an orange hat, orange gloves, shoes, and large, yellow sunglasses that completely obscure his eyes. He also has small wings on his back.
"You should do the same! This boy is mine!" The fat Birkan taunts as he flew past him
"Not if I can help it!" The second Birkan retorted.
"But it doesn't look like you can!" The fat Birkan said while the explorer trips over a tree root, causing him to fall to the ground while being surrounded by the Birkans.
Nami stops when she notices them, wondering what was going on.
"Wait, what the...Who are they?" Nami questions herself, but having second thoughts. "Something tells me I don't want to find out. What's going on?"
Skypiea, Angels Beach
Back at the Angels Beach, Ventus, Leon, and Caius mentally hopes that Nami hurries back because time isn't on their side. Luffy on the other hand, was able to find the old Waver that's been around for centuries since he's planning something stupid.
"Yeah! Finally, we have someplace dangerous to go!" Luffy cheered, ran with the old Waver out of the Going Merry. "I can't sit around at this beach and wait for the wind to pick up any longer!"
"Hey, Luffy! What's that thing you're carrying?!" Usopp shouts with white and shark-like teeth, realizing what Luffy is carrying. "Oh no! That's not the old broken Waver, is it?! You'll kill yourself!?"
"Here I come!" Luffy shouts as he tries to ride it which causes Chopper and Usopp to panic, but it's worse than that when he stepped on the waver, he and vessel fell into the White Sea.
"What an idiot!" Zoro exclaims in annoyance.
"How could he possibly not know that was going to happen?!" Usopp shouts as Luffy sinks faster.
"So, uh, does anyone wanna save him?" Chopper asked.
"Let him drown." The males of the Straw Hats answered.
Few minutes later, Ventus was able to get the bloated Luffy back on land along with the broken Waver, which he's very annoyed of his antics.
"You're a real pain in the ass! You know that!" Ventus growled, stomps him in the stomach hard enough to get the cloud water out of his mouth.
Pagaya starts inspecting the old Waver which he can tell it needs to be fixed, but wondering if it's functional or not.
"So, this is your old Waver, huh?" Pagaya questions. "You should take better care of it."
"It isn't ours, it was found like that." Caius told him, earned his attention.
"Would you like me to take a look at it?" Pagaya offers. "Assuming it's fixable, I should be able to do that for you."
"How would you know how to fix it?" Luffy asks with a groan.
"I'm an engineer that specializes in Dial ships, so I should know." Pagaya answered, scratching his head.
"Yeah, really?! What are you-"
"Finish that sentence, and I'll make sure you stay drowned!?" Ventus scolds, stomping the remaining water out of him. "Though, I agree that the old things needs to be fixed if possible."
Skypiea, Upper Yard
At the outside of the Upper Yard, a Shandia was heading towards the island with pure hatred and anger when he's thinking about Eneru. The thought of that name on his mind really wanted to kill him. Inside of the Upper Yard, an explorer felt like he's caught and about to get killed by the hands of the three Birkans, which one of them isn't too happy about the two interfering.
"Leave this one to me!" The first Birkan said. "He's my prey!"
"Oh? So, you have an itch to compete, do you?" The second Birkan taunts with a sneer. "Well, you'll be happy to know that I would enjoy fighting you...to kill my boredom!"
Even his pet bird agrees with a squawk.
"Very funny, Shura. We'll see how confident you are after I feed you and your ugly friend to my pet dog!" The first Birkan retorted, gestures to his dog while the fat Birkan laughs.
"I sense a confrontation!" The fat Birkan said with a smirk, laughing. "Too bad it's between a couple of weaklings!"
"Speak for yourself!" The fourth Birkan muttered with a scowl.
He's a tall, dark-skinned man. He has unusual hairstyle, with a row of upward-pointing tufts of rasta-styled dreadlocks from ear to ear. He has a typical wings on his back. He's wearing a matching purple jacket and pants, black gloves and shoes, a pink shirt, and a blue tie-like scarf around his neck. He sports a large, white tissue belt around his waist with a red circle at the center.
While at the outside of the Upper Yard, Nami was watching the explorer being surrounded by the Birkans with horror. Normally, she would ride back to the Angels Beach to warn her crew, but her thoughts was interrupted when she heard something from behind. She slowly turns when the Shandia fires his bazooka, causing her quickly ducks down as it hits the Birkans and the explorer. Nami then turns and immediately recognizes the Shandia, who's responsible for trying to attack her crew and getting beaten by Ventus. It got her wonder why would the Shandia fired his weapon at them instead of her. Nami noticed an explorer somehow survived from the impact, but barely which it got her stunned.
"What the?!" Namie exclaims as the explorer turns to her with a heavy pant.
"You, down there! Help! Please, give me a ride! Please!"
"You wanna ride? But, this is a one person boat." Nami told him, which she doesn't trust him and frightened.
"Please, help me! I came here from another Sky Island in search for some missing treasure, but about that anymore! I just wanna got out of here! Please!"
"No, I can't." Nami said, refuse to help. "There's no room!"
"Either give me the boat or I'll slice you up!"
Before he could do just that, the explorer yelps when he noticed a Shandia aiming his bazooka at him. Then, the light was suddenly shown above him as the beam from the sky kills him, destroying the cliff in the process. Nami and the Shandia blocks their vision after witnessing the explorers demise, but the latter grunts while holding his shield.
'Is this Enerus doing?!' The Shandia mentally shouts, watches the parts of the trees and the ground being destroyed. "How dare you harm Verth?!"
After the beam vanished while the smoke appears, the beam fires at the Shandia which causes him to sent flying and Nami holding on to the Waver while trying to regain the balance. While the beam vanished for a few seconds, Nami was able to regain the balance with a sigh of relief while the Shandia flees. After the Shandia is out of sight, she heard the voice coming from the Upper Yards.
"Get some Water Dials down there now! The fire is spreading!"
Skypiea, Lovely Street
At the marketplace called the Lovely Street, the Skypiean law enforcers known at the White Berets arrived as they saluted to the Skypieans, who are wondering why were they here.
"Heso!"
"Good day, Heso!" A White Beret Captain known as McKinley greeted them.
Mckinley is a tall, well-built man who bears the typical wings as well as a small scar under his left eye. He wears a standard White Beret uniform, consisting of the namesake beret, a short-sleeved shirt, cloud-patterned flared-hip jodhpurs, and black boots; his rank is distinguished by a cape-like overcoat.
"What are the White Berets doing here?"
"Oh no! Something must've happen!"
"You are warned to use extreme caution! I'd received word that illegal entrance have infiltrated Skypiea through Angel Beach today!" McKinley informed them, which it left the Skypieans shocked as he showed the photos of the Straw Hats to them. "They're reportedly 10 suspects, but do not worry, you can help with our search and investigation by reporting all suspicious activity! Leave it to the White Berets!"
And with that, the White Berets gave the Skypieans a salute.
"White Berets!"
Skypia, Upper Yard
After the Birkans dose the fire out with the Water Dials, one of them remembered about the Straw hats entering Sky Island illegally and the explorer spoke to Nami after the confrontation between each other. Nami was able to hide next to the tree root while listening to their conversation.
"Did you see that? It appears as if he was talking to someone in the water." The fourth Birkan states when he and the Birkans looked at the White Sea, wonder who's the explorer talking to.
"He was probably delusional." The fat Birkan said as the dog kept barking.
"Would someone please shut that dog up!" Shura shouts in annoyance, points at the dog when it shuts up.
"He was most likely begging for his life." The fat Birkan said with a laugh.
"Why did Eneru take care of that guy himself? Isn't that why he sent us here in the first place?" Shura questions.
"We probably ran out of time." The fourth Birkan points out.
"Ran out of time?!" The fat Birkan repeats when he and Shura turns to the two.
"Yet another group of illegal entrance have already infiltrated Skypiea." The fourth Birkan said, changing the subject.
"Again?!" Shura exclaims with a scoff.
"Old lady Amazon informed us that it's a ship with 10 Blue Sea dwellers on board." The fourth Birkan explains which led Nami in shock.
'10 Blue Sea dwellers...this probably us! We're here illegally?!' Nami mentally exclaims, remembered of Amazon telling them that in order to get to Skypiea, they must pay the entrance fee of 1 billion extol per person. 'Because we didn't pay the entrance fee? No way! The people who are on the abandoned boat...and that guy I just saw...Did he enter illegally too?! Because if that's true, I don't want that bright flash of light coming for me and frying me to death!'
"10 Blue Sea dwellers should be a cakewalk for us." Shura states with a smirk.
"10 heads. Looks like one us has got to share." The first Birkan adds as he and the Birkans heads out.
'What the heck is happening on this island? And who are these people? This is crazy!' Nami mentally shouts, decided that it's time to leave as she rides with the Waver to get to the Angels Beach. "I need to get back to the others to warn them! I just hope I get to them before it's too late!"
And with that, Nami then left the Upper Yard to get to her crew before Eneru and the Birkans get to them.
Skypiea, Angels Beach
Meanwhile, the Straw Hats are now either waiting for Pagaya to fix the Waver, or for the wind to blow in the direction they want to go to. They're now relaxing at the Angels Beach when Chopper sculps a cloud-man.
"Beat this one, Usopp! Look!" Chopper said with a smile, showing his cloud-man to Usopp, who smirks.
"I don't think that'll be a problem." Usopp told him, showing his own cloud sculptures that resembles of his crew and the treasure. "See? My cloud sculpture is so good, it should be in the museum."
While Chopper was amazed, Sanji is getting very annoyed as he kicks him in the face and destroys the sculpture, scolding Usopp, who's in teary eyes. Ventus, Caius, and Leon are at the Going Merry, playing poker while Robin and Zoro watches.
"You think Nami's going to come soon?" Caius questions.
"Who knows, but she's smart enough to know the danger when she sees it. She should come back soon." Ventus told him, turns to Leon. "Remind me again why I'm playing Poker with you two?"
"As much as I like to spar with you both, I'd also like to keep level-headed." Leon explains, as he discarded three cards and drew three. "This place is peaceful after all, might as well enjoy while we can. I'll help you keep level-headed and calm mind. That, and you could consider this as both a lesson and a test between luck and strategy."
Ventus gives him a nod with an understanding, discarded two cards and draws two cards. Caius did the same by discarding two and drew two new cards. Zoro notice that Ventus is going to win this since he's got good hands.
"Full House." Caius said, putting down his hand.
"Four of a Kind." Leon said, followed.
"Royal Flush." Ventus said as Leon and Caius groans when Robin giggled with amusement while Zoro smirks.
"So, can you fix it?" Luffy asks.
"I've never seen parts like these before." Pagaya told him, examines the broken Waver.
"Come on, just fix it already." Luffy said impatiently.
"I'm sorry, but until I have a chance to look closer, I don't know if I can fix it." Pagaya informed him.
"Will you at least try?" Luffy asks.
"Yes, of course." Pagaya replied as Luffy grinned.
Then, the White Berets marches down the stairs which it got the Luffy's attention.
"Looks like we have company." Luffy said as Conis, Pagaya, and his crew turns and saw the White Berets coming their way.
"You there, on the beach! Don't move!" McKinley shouts.
"Does he mean us?" Luffy asks in confusion, but notice the White Berets were crawling the rest of way to them after they reached the bottom.
"Hey, uh, why are they crawling?" Sanji asks, confused.
"Who knows." Usopp shrugs. "I mean, they've obviously got issues."
"Because they're crawling around like crabs?" Chopper guessed as the White Berets were able to approaches them when Zoro, Robin, Leon, Ventus, and Caius walk towards their crew.
"White Berets, halt!" McKinley ordered as they stop, stands up as he and his men salutes.
"Heso!"
"Heso." Conis greets.
"Heso, gentlemen." Pagaya adds.
"Speak our language! We can't understand you!" Luffy muttered with his mouth agape.
"Luffy, show some respect!" Ventus scolds, bonks Luffy in the head hard.
