I walked through the halls of Cheevers High School with my brother Cody and my best friend Max. My brother and I had known her since we were in middle school and now we were 17 and juniors in high school. The two of us had actually gone on a date when we were kids, but it didn't end well. Part of thought that Max might have been a lesbian, but she had never dated any girls and I wasn't going to suggest that to her. If she was, I would let her tell me on her own whenever she figured it out. Cody and I were identical twins, but the two of us were very different. Cody was a nerd and I played basketball. Max was also on the team because the school didn't have a girls' team. Cody was also in a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend Bailey, who lived in Kansas. I didn't do relationships. I didn't need to settle down since I was so young. That wasn't to say that I didn't date. I had actually been out with an impressive number of girls, both at school and the S.S. Tipton, where Cody and I had spent our previous year of school.
So, what were we doing in the hallway? We were waiting for classes to start. Max and I would usually head to the weight room and Cody would go to the library but we decided to hang out with each other for a change. Our circle used to be bigger but after Cody's girlfriend Barbara cheated on him with our other friend Bob, they were both kicked out of the group. Prom was coming up in a few weeks and I didn't have a date, but I was sure that I would have one by the time that it came around. Still, I figured I should start looking.
"So, who should I ask to prom?" I asked the two of them. I could use some ideas.
"I don't know." Cody said. "All I know is I'm really excited because Bailey's coming. I couldn't be happier."
"We know." I declared. "It's pretty much all you talk about."
Bailey was a good friend while we were at Seven Seas High. I actually had initially liked her myself, but I decided that I would let my brother date her because he was definitely more serious about her than I was. The two of them never saw each other, except for these video chats. Max and I were beginning to think that those weren't entirely innocent.
"Well, if you neither of you can find dates you could always go with each other." Cody suggested. I considered going with Max, but I was pretty sure that I could find a date.
"That would be pretty awkward." I responded.
"Yeah, the two of us are just friends." Max agreed.
Suddenly our views were caught with a girl with pale almost white skin, jet black hair, dressed in all black and purple with several piercings and what appeared to be a tattoo. There was one word to describe the girl: Goth. She was stunning.
"Who is that?" I questioned. "I've never seen her before."
"Usually no one does." Cody explained. What did that even mean? "Her name's Athena. She's in my physics class."
"She's pretty hot." I stated before I started to walk over to her.
"This won't end well." I heard Max say to Cody. I was going to ignore her negativity.
"Hello, Beautiful" I greeted her.
"Disappear, Asshole." Athena said. Well, that was rude.
"I was wondering if you had a date to prom." I declared. I was choosing to ignore her rudeness.
"I don't go out with impetuous jocks like you." Athena remarked. It seemed like it would take a little to win her over. "Now I'll give you 5 seconds to leave me alone or you'll be sorry."
"Come on, I could make it worth your while." I urged. Maybe it was because she was playing hard to get, but it made me want her more.
"I warned you. Now you'll suffer the consequences. You spend all of your time chasing girls let's see how you like it" Athena stated before she started to say words that I didn't understand. Why did that sound like a threat?
"That's Latin." Cody replied. I wanted to say something back to him, but I found myself unable to speak. I couldn't even move. What the fuck was going on? Was this girl who looked like a witch actually a witch?
I wasn't sure how long the next part lasted. It felt like an eternity but that was probably because I couldn't move. It seemed like I was glowing. She was casting a spell of some sort and I was confused by it. It felt like things were happening but I had no idea what they were. I could only wait for the resolution. I didn't feel like I was dying, so I assumed that she wasn't trying to kill me. Then, I could feel that it was finally over and I couldn't help but take some deep breaths. I was a little out of it, so I was still unaware of her what she had done to me or why she had done it.
"Now I must go." Athena announced. "Have fun."
Before I could do anything there was a bright flash and Athena was gone. What did she mean have fun?
"I can't believe they were right." Cody responded. Who was he talking about? "She is a witch."
That seemed to be pretty obvious. I just wanted to know who specifically he was talking about. I then saw Max walking over to me. Strangely, she seemed to be the same height as me and on top of that, Cody seemed to be taller. Come to think of it, my clothes felt kind of different.
"Zack?" She asked.
"Damn that's one crazy bitch." I declared as I took some more deep breaths. Okay, that sounded weird. Why did I sound like that? Now I could tell that something was definitely wrong. My hair felt longer too. "What's wrong with my voice and why do my clothes feel different?"
Max then went into her duffel bag and took out a small mirror. I had a really bad feeling what I would see if I looked into it. There was no way what I was thinking could be possible, could it?
"Zack, I think you need to look at yourself." She said as she handed me the mirror.
I didn't want to look in the mirror, but I knew I had to. When I did, I saw a girl with long blonde hair wearing a blue sleeveless dress. I pinched myself, watching as she moved her hand. At that point, I started to feel light-headed before I passed out in Max's arms.
So, this is a story that I felt needed a change of POV, along with some minor story changes. The story should be mostly the same though. Zoey is still played by Meaghan Martin. How will she react to being a girl? Please don't forget to review.
