Imprisonment

Nomi sat on the bed niche of her cell feeling desperate. After the stormtroopers had brought her back they had unshackled her, which was a relief. They hadn't tortured her and gave her food and water, but the prospect to have an encounter with Lord Vader scared her. She wondered how long it would take to bring her to Vjun. The young woman stood up and paced the cell like a trapped animal.

She had no idea how much time had gone by, as she heard footsteps outside which stopped at the cell. Shortly after the door opened with a hiss and two stormtroopers entered. One of them held a pair of stunner cuffs and approached her.
"Turn around!" The trooper commanded in a gruff tone Nomi became accustomed to.
She followed the order, since she knew that it would be useless to resist.
"Hands behind the back!" The next command came, which Nomi followed as well.
After she was tied up the trooper dragged her out of the cell. But this time it wasn't the bridge where they were walking to. It didn't take long and they reached the Destroyer's main hangar bay. The trooper who took the lead walked over to a Lambda class shuttle standing there. He stepped up the ramp, followed by Nomi and his comrade. Inside the shuttle he motioned to the young woman to sit down on a bench and strapped her in after she did so. The two troopers sat down on the opposite bench, keeping a watchful eye at their prisoner. As soon as the passengers were seated, the pilot closed the hatch, started the engines and launched. It was only a short ride until they reached their destination on Vjun's surface. The pilot landed smoothly in Bast Castle's hangar where the shuttle was safe from the acid rain outside. After the hatch opened the troopers stood up and one of them unbuckled Nomi.
"Rise!"
Nomi didn't hesitate to comply and shortly after the troopers and her walked down the ramp. As they walked, the Rogue Squadron pilot took in the surroundings. There was nobody to see and the only sounds were the footfalls of their boots when they made their way through the almost endless and dimly lit hallways. Finally they reached a turbo lift where two Royal Guards were standing. There was a quick exchange, after which the stormtroopers left. When the stormtroopers had left, one of the guards summoned the lift and they entered. The lead guard pushed a button and the lift descended. Only a few minutes later the door opened and they stepped out. Another hallway, which was well-lit, stretched out in front of them.
"Move!"
The guard standing behind her pushed Nomi in the back and she moved forward until they stopped in front of a door, which was clearly a cell door. After the man entered a code in the access panel the door opened with a hiss. The cell behind the door wasn't different to the one onboard the Super Star Destroyer. Nomi sighed inwardly, stepped forward and entered the cell, before the guards could command her to do so. When she turned, she saw them leave and the door slammed shut. Slowly she walked over to the bed niche and sat down. The young woman had still no idea why Lord Vader was interested in a rather unimportant Alliance member.

Several hours had passed when Nomi heard footsteps outside her cell. They stopped and seconds later the door opened with a hiss, the light from the outside casting a silhouette. The figure was massive and frightening. After a fraction of a second Darth Vader entered the cell. He made a subtle movement with his gloved hand and the door closed behind him. Nomi rose and stared at the helmeted man who was clad in all black. On his chest she noticed a box with blinking lights. So this was the man who would decide about her fate, the man who would decide if she would live or die.
The former smuggler heard Vader's mechanical breathing as he looked her over from head to toe. Nomi shivered inwardly under the Dark Lord's gaze and tried to not to show her fear. Another subtle movement of the man's hand and the stunner cuffs opened and fell to the floor. The young woman rubbed her wrists.
"There is no more need for this, since there is no escape for you," Vader addressed her finally with a deep voice. His words were accompanied by mechanical breathing. "Amazing that such a small woman carries three who are strong in the Force."
"I don't know what you are talking about," the Rogue Squadron pilot retorted.
"So you don't know that you are pregnant?" The Dark Lord stood there arms akimbo. "You are expecting triplets, Lieutenant Darklighter. I wonder who the father is."
Nomi kept her mouth shut, but then she had a feeling in her head as if someone was reaching inside. It was a sickening feeling.
"Ah, here we are…Dash Rendar is the father. The Force is running in the Rendar bloodline and shows up occasionally. Your unborn children are very strong in the Force already and they will serve the Empire after I have trained them."
The pressure in Nomi's head lessened. Vader turned, opened the door and left without further word.

After the door slammed shut, Nomi walked slowly over to the bed niche and sat down. Her thoughts whirled around. Pregnant…Now she knew why she was sick every morning. How could she have been so blind? Dash's children, she carried Dash's children. Upon other terms she would have been happy. She buried her head in her hands, but then she looked up and straightened. She would fight until her last breath and would find a way to escape. Vader would never get her children. They would never serve the Empire.
She laid down, curled up and closed her eyes, but sleep was avoiding her for a long time, since she explored the options she had. It was morning when she finally fell asleep.
