Chapter 3

Alice stood on the other side of the door that led to the human's room, carrying a bag from Wendy's stuffed with a burger and fries. She could hear Bella pacing back and forth inside there, with a slightly elevated heartbeat, still far too calm in her own opinion. The thick wooden door between them did nothing to block the delicious scent coming from the human girl, it surrounded the pixie like a fog, and she struggled to push back the insatiable beast that tore at her throat, wanting to be free to feed.

It took several minutes of her just continuing to stand there, staring holes through the door while she controlled her thirst, and locked the vampire back in her cage, before she finally gave a single knock on the door to alert the human that she was coming inside. Bella was mid step when Alice entered, holding out the bag of food, along with a cup of sprite for her to take.

"Thanks," She mumbled as she hesitantly reached out and took the bag, peering inside like she thought something would jump out and attack her. A relieved sigh escaped her as she pulled out the wrapped burger, quickly dispensing the paper and taking a huge bite.

"Good?" Alice chuckled with amusement. She tilted her head to the side as she watched the human devour the food, nose crinkling in slight disgust.

"What?"

"That smells horrid."

"Do you not eat fast food?"

"We don't eat food at all."

This seemed to stump Bella. She was staring at Alice with disbelief in her eyes and a fry halfway to her mouth. Alice knew she may have been revealing a bit too much to the girl, but she couldn't help but engage in conversation. It was so easy. She couldn't remember the last time she'd thought a human was nothing more than cattle. Not that she preyed on them, but to her, they were a less intelligent, inferior species.

"What's your name?" Bella flinched a little when Alice's crimson orbs flashed up to lock with her own, reminded once again that she was utterly not human. "I- I didn't catch it before, with all the -" She flapped her hand uselessly, unable to articulate what happened in the throne room.

Before the pixie could answer, a hard knock sounded from the door, and it made Bella nearly jump five feet into the air. On instinct, she retreated away from it, as Alice walked near to open it. Felix stood on the other side, smiling devilishly wide towards Bella, his eyes alive with hunger.

Alice stepped in front of his field of vision and lifted an eyebrow in silent question, folding her arms across her chest. Felix glanced down at her and snorted.

"Aro wants to speak to the girl. Now."

"Fine. I'll - "

"He wants me to bring her." Felix cut her off with a smug grin, daring Alice to challenge him in that fact. She simply curled her lip and hissed softly, eyes hardening to stone when he simply laughed. She turned to face Bella, whose face was chalk white, her body rigid with fear and suspicion. Alice softened her expression to not further put off the girl and smiled tightly.

"Don't worry, he won't hurt. Just do as he says and go with him."

Bella swallowed thickly, the food in her hands suddenly very unappealing. She placed the bag on top of a nearby flat surface and slowly walked past Alice to join Felix at his side. She knew she had no other choice with these mysterious but very dangerous creatures. She flinched slightly when he grabbed her arm. It wasn't gentle, and his touch was icy cold for some reason, hard as granite. What the hell?

Alice watched with gritted teeth as Felix led the girl away from her before moving to sit on the edge of the bed inside of the room. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to sink into the vision she called upon.

"Felix. No need to manhandle the poor girl. Let her go!" Aro shooed away his guard by flapping his hands, and he released Bella immediately, turning to exit the door he just came through. Bella stayed where she was left, staring warily at the short man who was beaming at her with childlike glee. She did not feel the small sense of safety like she did with the tiny pixie girl. Bella knew by some sixth sense that the man before her would kill her on just a whim, smiling all the while he did it. It made her feel terrified, and this of course increased her heart rate enough that Aro visibly reacted to it. He took in a huge breath, almost swaying with how good the human girl smelled.

"You are just divine, Isabella! If you did not show such promise, I don't think I could even restrain myself!" He giggled delightedly, and Bella just stared, uncomfortable.

"Anyhoo! I have some questions for you, if you don't mind. I can't take them from you by touch, so we will have to do this the old fashioned way!"

He suddenly appeared directly before Bella, not more than an inch of space between them, and she gasped in shock, stumbling back a few steps before regaining her posture.

"Where are you from? Who are your family members? Do they know where you are? Full names if you will!"

Bella raised her hand to anxiously push back her brown locks from her face, trying to think quickly. She didn't want to give this man any information about herself, but if she didn't what would happen to her?

Aro noticed the resolute look cross the human's features, how her eyes hardened, and the way she lifted her chin in defiance. He waited, but she refused to say anything. Instead of growing angry or upset, he nearly squealed, bringing his hands together in a clasp.

"I do respect loyalty, my dear! You would be such a fine addition to our number. I want you to know that I mean your family no harm, just information on your background, and should anyone come looking for you when you come out to be missing. There are only two options before you. Death or immortality. Unfortunately, neither are up to your discretion. But -" Aro held up one finger, staring Bella down with a small grin.

" - if you do not answer my questions, I will make it my personal mission to hunt down your entire family and drain them dry. Shall we continue?"

"What are you doing?"

Alice came to from her vision and immediately locked eyes with Alec, Jane's twin brother, who was staring her down from the doorway of the room. The pixie stood to her feet and walked forward, forcing Alec to back out of the room, and closed the door behind her.

"Nothing. What do you want?"

"Jane summons you. She wants you to go to her room."

Alice's posture immediately stiffened and she let out an annoyed sigh. Alec glared at her, he was only an inch or two taller, but he used the slight height difference to stare down his nose at her.

"You should be honored to be in her presence you animal feeding wench."

Hot anger shot through Alice and she snarled up at him, venom started to gather in her mouth and she wanted to spit it into his face. However, if there was one thing Jane was more obsessed with than her, it was her brother. Alice had brawled with Alec before and paid the price for it. Nearly two days of mentally agonizing pain, and a whipping that never seemed to end. The scars were still healing after all this time. Now, Alec knew all of this. Which is why he only smirked at her show of anger, a challenge glinting in his eyes.

"Well? Should I tell her you'll not be joining her?"

"Rot in hell, Alec."

Alice turned her back on the smirking bastard and reluctantly started making her way down to Jane's chambers. She knew even without finishing her vision that Bella would do the right thing. The girl loved her human family, that much was obvious. It made Alice's dead heart ache as she was reminded of her own sacrifice for her adopted family.

"What took you so long, my love?"

Jane was laying sprawled out on her alaskan king sized bed, wearing nothing but her volturi robes and a human male draped across her lap, blood dazed. There was two trails of blood leaking from the corners of her mouth, and a smear of it across her chin. She flashed a lazy smile at Alice who stood rigidly by the door.

"I apologize for keeping you waiting." Alice murmured, her eyes resting on the half unconscious male with pity and sadness. She didn't think much if humans, but they didn't deserve to just be food for monsters.

Jane caressed the young man, threading her fingers through his dark locks, touching his face and tracing a thumb over his lips. She was staring at Alice the whole time, knowing how much she hated it, and taking pleasure at the uncomfortable stance she held.

"Mmm. Won't you come and share this snack with me?"

"...I already fed."

"Come here."

Alice fought back a flinch at that tone. Before, Jane was speaking in a child like, innocent sort of tone. But that voice just now was one of her true age, and it commanded immediate obedience. Fighting down her revulsion, Alice joined Jane on the bed, crawling up to lay beside the pair, trying to avoid looking at the human.

"Taste him...he's sweet." The gentle tone was back.

Alice leaned over then and slipped her fingers under the young male's chin, tipping his head back to expose his throat. It already had two small puncture holes there, still leaking blood. He rolled his eyes back to meet Alice's gaze, and a dopey smile pulled his lips upwards, like he was welcoming her. Alice stared into his eyes for a few more moments, then lowered her face down until her mouth touched his throat. She bit down and he let out a small mewl of pain, but as she began to drink, it turned into a low moan of encouragement. The taste of his blood was heavenly, like sweet, sweet nectar. Alice gave in to her inner beast, allowing the monster to feed, and feed.

"Good girl," Jane purred like a happy cat, her hand coming down to stroke down Alice's back, knowing it was a sensitive area for the pixie vampire. Alice growled at first, like she feared Jane would steal her prey, but when the other girl simply continued to pet her, she relaxed, ignoring her in favor of the draining the human male.

It didn't take long to finish him off, Jane must have been feeding from him for awhile, because Alice heard his heart cease beating only a couple minutes later. She only pulled back when the blood completely stopped flowing. Jane unceremoniously shoved his corpse off the bed, mounting Alice in the next moment.

"I've missed you today, my pet."

Alice only shifted her gaze away from Jane to stare up at the ceiling, her eyes were a bright ruby from her recent feeding, and her body was humming with energy. However, her heart hung heavy with shame and disgust with herself. What would Carlisle say? Or Esme for that matter? God, would Edward even know her to be anything but a soulless demon?

She felt insistent lips press against her throat, and her attention returned to the moment. Jane was laying completely atop her body, hands roaming where they please as she lavished hungry kisses against her. Alice's vampire started to respond, vigorous and energized by that human's blood. She couldn't help the feeling, it was primal, instinct. It didn't matter that Alice's heart didn't belong to Jane, vampires were made to be sexual beings, and it wanted to mate.

Once more, Alice allowed the beast to take complete control.
