Slipgaze sat close to Lemoneye, feeling his cold, starry fur brush against his own warmth. His stomach ached, his heart hurt, knowing this was only a dream. He nuzzled his head deeper into Lemoneye's fur, hoping to feel his lively warmth once again. Instead, he only felt the cold brush of airy fur against his cheek.

Their tails intertwined, Lemoneye tilted his head down slightly to place his dry nose atop Slipgaze's head, gently nuzzling him. "Why didn't you let me come with you?" Slipgaze muttered against his starry mates fur. "I could've saved you. I could've prevented this all from happening."

Lemoneye lifted his head again, looking Slipgaze into his eyes. "You couldn't have prevented it, no better than any other cat there. It's not your fault, my dear Slipgaze." He glanced away, not content with the answer he was given, but didn't want to fight it. "I just wish you were still here." Lemoneye's gaze softened with agony, and used his paw to guide Slipgaze's face back to him. "My beautiful Slip, I will always be there." Slipgaze's throat got tighter listening to his lover's soothing voice as he went on. "Every night, I'll do my best to visit you. I will always be in your dream." Lemoneye bent down into Slipgaze's shoulder, gently lapping it with his cold tongue. Slipgaze leaned into him, breathing in his embrace.

"Fulfill your destiny, Slip. You will be a great leader someday." Lemoneye curled his tail around both of their bodies, trying to pull them both impossibly closer. "Do not meet me early, out of guilt of losing me." Slipgaze blinked slowly, his heartbreak leaking into his expression. "If I become leader, it'll be ages before I finally lay to rest. I won't join you for moons." Lemoneye started to pull away, looking right into his eyes. "I'll always be with you, even if you live nine more lives. I'll be with you for each one."

His eyes widened. "No! Lemoneye, don't leave yet, please!" Slipgaze begged after him, watching him turn away. "Lemoneye!" He could feel his body waking up already, but he desperately clung onto his dream, just so he could keep his eyes on his lover. Despite this, Slipgaze watched, his heart breaking more as he witnessed Lemoneye's starry, golden fur dissolving in front of him.

Slipgaze started losing his grip on his sleep, Lemoneye started to seem more far away now. He started to bound after his lover, desperately yowling his name for him to come back. "Lemoneye, don't go! Stay, please! I–I need you here with me!"

Suddenly, Slipgaze awoke with a jerk. He noticed Tallstripe glaring at him; he figured he must've kicked him in his sleep. The final words he spoke in his dream continued to ring through his head. Sorrow and grief rippled through him, making his body ache.

Though, a comforting drift wafted through the den, chilling Slipgaze especially. He closed his eyes again, feeling the chill curl itself around him. A sweet scent filled his nose, a scent that reminded him of fresh fruit from a two-leg's garden. He let out a low purr, comforted by the gust of wind hitting his fur. It's like he could feel Lemoneye's presence from Starclan, and that idea was soon solidified by hearing his soothing citrusy voice answering the statement ringing in his mind; I will be.
