Stargate Atlantis Trading Grounds I: The Return To La Rochelle
Warnings: This story is going to match the dialog, in the flashback memories, of chapter 4, of the past meets the present series. As it also follows the complete mental breakdowns, of the human half of the team. And Robert Makepeace and Adam Johnson, so the story is going to follow the dialog to the letter exactly. Along with some new dialog that was not in the fast forwarded portion in the flashbacks.
With this chapter it's jumping over the mission to Ernest's research station, before returning to earth now, and ending up back on the base now. Said now looking exactly like the Enterprise D, in every way, shape or form. And just without the technical problems, as the tunneling between their base and White Rock Research Station. There is a set of jeffries tubes going horizontally that way, rather then vertically.
Basing this in real time, rather then the show, of 25 years ago, Antarctica was a neutral zone for research so military research was not allowed out there. And with it, as the chair is considered military technology, it was meant to be last resort. In case of another orbital attack, so the outpost is now trade and exploration. So with this chapter, is the colony/crew is now getting used to being a slightly underwater crew.
As he's getting to work in trading to bring in more improvement for the planet at large now, so a military attack. Just to bring him back to the states, is attempted, is an international. In incidents and enough to get them convicted for kidnapping now, with his clearance. So from here, is he's dropping in on Ry'ac and Drey'auc and before the press conference. And just before his first stop in planets is to Gaea, home of the Nox.
This chapter will finish off this portion of the story-line, as the next two chapters and forward, cover chapter 2, going by the name. And of The Glory Of Tantulus, which covers things, from his going to the races and Tok'ra creation of the treaty. And his return to Shyla, before the following Chapters cover the the breakdowns of the trio and Carter, who's lost her ability to function mentally, out of desperation now.
As the mission was sanctioned, and he was transferred to Landry and the Atlantis team at the time. As Rodney McKay, Cam Mitchell, Vala Mal Doran, Hank Landry, Frank Simmons, Steven Caldwell, John Shepard. And Elizabeth Weir enter the picture here, the story will have Daniel and Teal'C joining their team. As the SGA is founded 5 years early, and moved into the outpost on earth….

Chapter 66: Missions Begin And Final Farewells II
"So what is red circle exactly, with inner bottom?" he asked and they chuckled. "We call that a frisbee, as we toss it around grassy field." She said and he gave an understanding growl, as he looked at the frisbee that D.J.'s brother was playing with. "Grr, grr." he said, and they nodded with a growl. "Right we need to get them, their toys and with them meat eaters, have their diet set to the freshly cook meats and veggies mix." The ship vet said and they nodded.
"Grr, grr grr." Nala said to Denali and he gave a growl. "Issues in the sentient cat grouping, only you're a vet, and they have a doctor to treat them." Rodney said, before the translation came out over the radio. "Denali, I just check our apartment, it looks like our den back home right now, there's enough room for two litters and us. But we need to get ourselves set to automated food, and toys, as we're human in cat bodies." They heard and nodded.
"Well at least we can understand each other, guys, but D.J., whatever you're playing with, keep it in the apartment, or someone's going to trip over it." Daniel said and he gave a growl. "Got it, Alpha, dad, our rooms are stocked with toys already, the bathrooms. Are half straw and half an over sized tub, to bathe in and we got a viewing screen. With a press pad, I stepped on it and it activated the viewing screen." he said and Denali nod gently then.
"Is the scenery room, carrying a way to go for a run?" Daniel asked and he gave a purr. "Yes Alpha, so mom pinned us to the apartment, we're allowed in big screen room. And scenery rooms now, while Dad is helping Beta with scouting out big circle field now. But dad chose red circle, with blue dot circle, as our living floor, in new terrain, so we don't get lost, our collars carry our I.D. tags and coloring." he said and they nodded.
"How old are you in human years exactly?" he asked and he gave a purr. "We're 5 human cat years Alpha, so we still look like junior aged cats." he said and they chuckled and nodded. "So if this is 5 human years, then 20 is Maine Coon, near bob cat sized, yeah alright, well there is, the leader of the family is, in human years actually 40 years old here, his current litter. Are all preschoolers right now, and the same size as a fully grown cat in playtime right now."
"How long do you stay house cat sized exactly?" Pulaski asked and Denali gave a purring chuckle, as he answered her. "We stay kitten sized for 3 decades, then we start growing up, but our aging span is the same as the furry sentient. When on Beta's favorite movie series, so my grandson, is going to be a kitten when your's, Daniel adopts him. Then again, our families been tied together since we met, so 5 centuries now."
"That I'm 250 cat years old, we live to be 700 years old, so by the time your next to youngest is a fully grown adult, and your youngest is your age. As you currently are now, I'm still with him, though I miss my you very much, after everything. That we been through together." he said and Daniel nodded smiling as he ran his hand through his neck fur gently. "As for requisite training sports here, said coach." Will said and they nodded.
"Jeff's double took the team position's as he's training my daughter and her team, and they adore him, training is harder, but they love the challenge." Lieutenant Commander Derek Reynolds said and they nodded. "Is Connie her?" Daniel asked and he nodded. "Yeah that's my baby girl, her brother loves basketball though, so I got two athletes in the family. And their 10 year old sister is a gymnast, 4 kid family, my youngest is 3." he said and Daniel nodded gently.
"Name's Coach Ted Randolph, 8th grade to high school hockey, Commander." the said coach said smiling and he nodded, as he shook his hand smiling. "Your wife is an officer, you're a school coach, that makes perfect sense, together, you make quite a bit. So Lieutenant Diana Peterson, that's your wife." he said and Peterson nodded smiling. "Yep and now the placement is permanent, Nordling is my appearance, but I'm 39, though I look 42." he said and they nodded.
"Better go with said rules, but B's or better, because not one or the other, you need both to get into a college, or Starfleet program." Daniel and he nodded. "Yeah that, take it easy on the stims, and stay clear of the toxic chemicals, 80% of the good. And 20% of the bad, my girls are still babies, they need a balanced diet." He said and Reynolds smiled. "You a parent yourself?" Lou asked and he nodded. "Yeah twin girls, 7 years old." he said and he nodded to the news.
"Girls, are you Jesse's twin brother?" Daniel asked, meaning his old logistics officer's husband and Randolph nodded smiling. "Yeah I am actually, Deb gave me that idea, but Jesse, he never knows when to quit, so while they're staying in Colorado Rockies. That I just moved it here, my wife is one of your officers here, Kristy Randolph, nee' Jenkins." he said and Daniel nodded. "Lovely, this lead to one fatal flaw, and it's allowing logistics to do everything for you here."
"You're likely to miss something, and said non canon, gives that pretense, so you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." he said and Randolph nodded. "Yeah and what Jeff taught the kids, I'm doing that myself, Jack Gordon only got them started. I'm teaching them high school to pro hockey, along with these that the peewees don't cover here. But as some of them are only children, and their parents get off at 5, practice is from 2:45 to 4:00."
"And study from 4 to 5p.m. every day during the work week." he said and Daniel nodded gently to the news then. "Let me guess, you're a retired professional hockey player and your last grouping, wouldn't let go of. And what their peewee coach drilled into them, but Connie's team after meeting you, decided to give it ago. And they love the challenge here, and enjoy playing for you?" Teal'C asked and he nodded, smiling gently as he answered him question gently.
"That's it exactly Teal'C, I love the kids like my own, but I'm sticking with them, after Jack got them started, Charlie Baterman, that's Connie's adopted twin brother. He switched the jersey's to match the district school colors, but same old them, only stronger and better. So if the district is red and white, we go there, and that's the Jedi branch, and there's the new coloring. And to their jersey's now, everything is fine, we just have the kids set to their district, and we got 4."
"So these games are going to get slightly out of hand here, so rather then just the Bantam, it's all 3 age groups, and the trophy goes to that section of the ship. On display, in the floor trophy room now, but this is like the Hogwarts schooling, so if ours Socs. Hawks, Slytherins are all pre-cadets like these boneheads, they're dressed in black and silver now." he said and Landry nodded in agreement. "Agreed, that's best, keep them separated." Picard said and they nodded.
"Well if that's the same leg that keeps getting abuse, and they're in big trouble right now, he should be in bed, not be walking around on that leg right now. And there's the reasoning we have to keep you guys separated, just 1 year together, you never felt better. Or more alive, and Sarah's right above us, in the city, studying her thesis, Adam, Steven and Kevin with her. We have the best archeology team on Earth studying things here." Barnes said and they nodded.
"Yes alright we keep going here right now, because with the way the status quo works on this ship, is going to be tough to get used to, if we have transfers. But after 10 months, the rules are explicit right now, you break the ship living rules, you get the axe." Picard said sternly and Haden and Landry nodded in agreement to his opinion then. "And that 10 months is vital, as she sees that what she sees as normal, is not used by us, we follow by the book methods."
"And they've been violating that book for 2.5 years and up 3 now, but 1) ask questions, we never get involved without the who, what, when where and why. 2) Starfleet is forbidden to interfere with the affairs of other planets, interfering in their infrastructures here. Their way of life, 3), though we accept hospitality, we're careful not to let our guards down here. 4) We follow the customs of the planet we go to, 5) rations are survival missions only, research missions."
"While 6) the Athletic/brainiac arguments are forbidden on this ship, just because we take an active interest in the cadet's training, doesn't mean playing favorites. When we're a family friend, 7) whatever is going on, has to be told directly to the parent of that cadet. And we hear any crude rumors rotating around the parent of that cadet, or the officer that cadet. Said is the student of, be prepared for the backlash, because it's probation, 8) it's a drug free program."
"Anyone screwing with the toxic chemicals is to be immediately apprehended for rehabilitation now, and 9) and most importantly, anyone going into the habitat. That I want you to watch your team mate, anyone suffering space dementia, keep an eye on them. But that's the adult rules, kids, we're making it quite plain with one sector of level 26, being the ship police department. That 1) we're keeping track of teenagers on this ship, know everyone by name now here."
"2) is we're investigating whatever started the riot and altercation now, 3) anyone gets caught with it on them, is straight to sickbay and 4), and I mean this now. If the cause of that altercation is because of malicious rumors, you're on probation till further notice. That what things going on between that cadet, the officer and the family member connected to said. Is between them only, take the quintet here, they're Daniel's students, he took an active interest."
"In their lives, being their mentor and teacher, and their parents are his friends, is that playing favorites, or, like being a coach, he's the en loco parentis. But think it over, the Ducks and the troop that Shelley Long became the leader for here. They went through coach after coach, after coach, or leader after leader, that why did, when Emilio and Shelley come along. Did they change, and they took more seriously, and made the championship?" he said and the hotshots.
Said that were believing the military side all paled. "Well the reason is, nobody ever took the time or had the patience, to get them through the basic training. Or take them to get the gear, uniforms they needed, before throwing everything they had into the bond. Think on that young man, because if you believe everything on SG-1, you're never going to survive. When being in Starfleet, as that's what Commander Jackson is doing now." he said and they nodded, shaking.
"But the SGA is the cornerstone, but your heroes are lunatics, but let me show you, how far they're willing to go, to control someone right now. Even if that means attempted murder by sabotaging the equipment of that person, right now. Just so they can claim, the current job is just not for them, they should be with SGC right now." Wesley said and the 45 all paled, realizing to 95% of the teenagers all over the ship, they believed Daniel's version to this.
As Teal'C stayed close, waiting for him to wake up then, before he woke up 2 hours later with a jerk. "Shh, shh, shh, easy baby, easy, it's okay, it's okay, it's the fan in your suit short circuited, shh, it's okay, it's okay, you're safe now."Henderson said softly, as his eyes opened. "Dave?" he said weakly then and he said it soothingly. "Shh it's okay, it's me, you're safe now, just rest, going to be okay." he said, rubbing his shoulder to calm him.
"How long have I been asleep exactly?" he asked and he smiled paternally."Couple of hours, found the problem, and we're getting it fixed right now, but that's no more. In going out of the habitat for you now that way, you're better off by doing the subs now. What's the last thing you remember, baby?" he said gently and he nodded. "I was doing drop off as normal, and she said she would be…., where is she exactly right now."
"She did it again right now!" he said, in realization and quickly tried to sit up then, but he forced him back down as Walker hold him down, after they covered him with several blankets, as he was too weak to get off the bed, 'There it is, he's furious at her, and we just saved his life right now, that once again we were ready for this. In proving we're more his team mates then she is, we always had his back.' they heard gently to that response.
And in Jackson's mental voice then, before hearing the answering response in Hoffman's mental voice. 'Shh, whoa, whoa easy, easy baby, easy, it's okay it's okay, just relax, you need to be in bed right now, till you can get up now.'they heard gently to him then, as Collins and Walker hung on to his legs. "Easy, easy baby, just take easy, it's okay, it's okay." Henderson said gripping his arms, as they held him flat, as he was shivering from the cold.
Before the attempt caused him to feel like he had during his first round with gate travel then. "Not again, where is she?" he said, gasping for breath. "Try and relax your breathing, slow down, slow down calm down man. You're gonna hyperventilate, it's okay, just a slight hiccup in the job, you're okay, buddy."Walker said and he said it. "Where is she? She said she'd..., she'd keep an eye out for me." he asked and he said it gently then.
"I looked through the whole habitat here for her, but I couldn't find her right now, I thought maybe she was with you." he said and he nodded. "Where is she? Where is she, I knew it, even when she says she'll be there, she never is. It's the same old crap, who cut my cord exactly, because if someone sabotaged my cord. That it's get me out here and return to the SGC now, and knowing it's none of you, we been together here."
"Way too long, you'd never do that, Teal'C sided with me, as did the guys and Annie, so that leaves only one person, you find out who she was talking to. If she attempted it right now, Derek?" he asked and they sighed in relief, he was beginning to relax. "I'm not sure yet, but when I find out, they're being court martialed for attempted murder. And right now, just save your strength and then up, but you're half frozen here now."
"But it's the same as Goodman, same thing, the fan in your suit short circuited, and suffered a fast cool down from the helium." he said and Daniel nodded sternly. "Was the cord cut as well?" he asked and they nodded. "And we heard this, after checking the radio transmissions." he said and turned on the tape recorder. "Sir it's been months, since he left right now, I tried again and again to talk to him about this, he's still refusing."
"To consider going back to the SGC, he's happy here right now." they heard and she paled further, realizing in her frame of mind then, she was as much a threat to him. As Jack was right now, as they heard Jack's response then gently. "Then we have to do something, claim after the accident, that being a navy seal is just not for him. He's better off in the Air Force." he said gently and then heard it and Daniel's eyes narrowed at that remark then.
"I can try right now, but I get caught, we're going to jail for this." she said and he nodded. "I realize that, but without him, it's worse than jail, if we walk onto a planet. And when they're there." he said and Haden crossed his arms sternly as he answered that remark. "I see, so to bring me back, you try to kill me, here's the reason I retired from the SGC, I'm happy here in the SGA, being a Navy Seal now." Daniel said to that sternly.
"Call dad, arrest him." he said and they nodded. "We did already, he's back in Rosen's hands, her, she's being psycho analyzed by me. As you say everything for me, and when you know better then anyone her state of mind right now. They're still so screwed up in the head, that Shyla completely destroyed their minds. One they don't see it, but everyone else does right now, it's been months, you never been happier."
"That why go back at all." Henderson said and he nodded. "You two, I swear here, you really think the effects of the trip to Shyla's at the time here. That never completely destroyed your minds, out of fear right now, you're dangerous. To yourself and others, me right now, that why should I want to go back at all right now. It's not an option right now, I'm happy where I am, and even the manifest turned up positive here."
"After they brought it here." he said and she paled. "Yes and you're not taking another dunk." Gordon said gently and he nodded. "And clearly they're trying to disengage your recovery, and your happiness right now at the moment. You never felt more alive, then when you joined the Navy, one year and the fire in your enjoyment. And of the job, has become an inferno now, you're flying high from the fact you get to do here."
"Exactly as you trained for now, one hiccup, is not ending it." Barnes said and he nodded, as he shifted position. "No kidding, I do this, I'm in the sub from now on, it's like a jumper now, all the same comforts the sub has. But nice try Jack, if you did this, plotted to bring me back, by trying to put me in the infirmary. Just to claim, my new job just isn't for me, didn't work." he said and Henderson nodded gently, before smiling,
"True, but two of us are the same as your father, and at the moment, you still look like a 16 year old cadet. So with that, don't push it right now, you need to be in bed for a while." he said and Daniel smiled. "And if I do?" he asked and Walker and Collins looked down as they started laughing. "Buddy, we have the serum on board this habitat, you forget already, he let you have it one too many times here." Walker said with a chuckle.
As he leaned in then gently to that. "Don't get smart with me now, you wiseacre, you remember the last few times you did right now. I know you are, and the serum makes you even more so right now, but after that reaction. Is you're once again 3 trapped in your adult body, little you is close now, so don't push me. You know how I still see you, since we met last year." Henderson said to him, smiling paternally then at him gently.
In keeping his arm wrapped across his waist, stroking the skin of his side and he tried to keep from laughing. "Still ticklish right here, baby hmm." He asked him stroking the skin of his side very slowly and his mental tone started shaking in laughter. 'Uh, uh, okay, okay point taken, Dave please, you made your point, I'll be good, I swear.' they heard, his mental tone shaking in laughter before feeling his fingers stroke the sole of his foot then slowly.
As his laughter started getting worse as they heard it then. 'Wait did they…, why is my leg feeling like it wrapped, unless…, oh no, I sprained my ankle out there. Alright, alright point taken, but just no paw torture, no paw, please, you win, Dave stop. Stop let me up, let me up, please let me up darn serum, I'm stuck here and…., oh no. No not again not again, no tickle cub, please no tickle cub.' they heard laughing and he chuckled then.
'Uh oh me in twouble, Dan no get playful, no get playful, or we be tickled again, no get playful.' they heard and Haden chuckled at that. 'Little boy trapped in an adult body, but even at this age, he still likes to get playful. And with the paternal psychiatrist right now, alright young man, you maybe an adult. But to me you're still a cadet, don't push me, or you're going to get it.' they heard with a chuckle as he answered that remark gently.
"Alright, alright you made your point Uncle Dave, I promise, I'll be good." he said smiling as he tried to hold his hand back. "Something wrong?" he said running his hand back to his side. "Uncle Dave really you made your point, I won't give you any trouble, I swear right now." He said, his voice shaking in laughter then. "Oh what's wrong baby, you ticklish, that what it is." he said smiling doing his stomach and he tried to keep laughing.
"Don't give me any trouble as you recover from this, or you're in big trouble, baby, so…., is baby still ticklish." Henderson said, wrapping his arms across his waist, paternally, before doing a fast spider run then by getting him in the stomach. And he started laughing as he started squirming, trying to turn on his side, and he turn him back as he kept it up. "Alright, alright, I take it back, I take it back, I'll be good, I swear, I swear, I swear, stop."
"Uncle Dave stop, you win, you win, I give up, I give up." he through his laughter then as he went back and forth on his side and stomach. 'Help, why did I say that, 10 months, he still acts like I'm 16, I can't take this, somebody get to him to stop.' they heard through a tone loaded with laughter and Landry chuckled. 'Yeah baby, best not get smart with your own psychiatrist right now, before he tickles you to death.' Carson thought with a chuckle then.
'My baby, yeah there's the him I know.' they heard with an affection, as he snuggled into his side, and he smiled then, in rubbing his back. And he laid there with his head nestled into his side, using his thigh as the pillow and he stroked his hand through his hair. "Yeah I think he grew too attached to you, though 35, when with you he's still a near cadet. And of going on 18 with you, Dave." Gordon said smiling and he nodded, as his eyes closed then.
And for a second time as he ran his fingers, in a soothing gesture through his hair. "Well at least the missions are slowing down right now finally as Egeria's back. We got enough done right now, that we're way ahead of schedule, and he can enjoy here. In being a Naval crewman right now, as he's not leaving earth all the time now." he said and Haden nodded in agreement as he fell asleep before, after 6 hours, and still no word on Sam.
And after another quick nap then, he changed back and into a set of long sleeve t-shirt, his sweater and sweat pants and as they waited till he was ready and he nodded sternly. "New psychiatrist and team, if anything, this is like my cub quartet traveling." he said and they chuckled. "Hey bro, you feeling better?"Warren asked and he nodded. "My suit and the hose were sabotaged, the duo's attempted to bring back me, by suggesting here."
"That deepsea diving, as a Naval crewman, is just not for me." he said, and he and Lou crossed their arms. "Why just you, why not all of us exactly, why not sabotage all of our suits and hoses, why just you?" Parker asked and Sam went pale then, realizing they knew she targeted him only as they went to check the camera to see where she went. 'Sam damn it, first Sha're and now this, you lied to me, again, you promised!' they heard sternly then.
"She tell you she was going out, because we never had a hatak crash in the Antarctic, before, so why start now, aside from Pelops, and he's too low to dive down too. So what's the point, where is she going exactly?" he asked, seeing her and they shook their heads. "No, but she's either hallucinating or better her mind finally snapped right now, then again knowing her mental state over you, she's desperate to protect herself."
"And between that and the fact here, she's been stuck down here, for the last 3 weeks, is she just finally cracked. And from the underwater dementia, we found your cord cut, when we got you back up here. But whatever reason she would have leave the habitat for right now, is enough to consider. That she's suffering space dementia now." Henderson said to him and he nodded as he said it. "Sam?" he said and she said it then.
"Daniel? I can't hear you." she said and they exchanged looks. "Nice lie." Collins said sternly and they nodded. "Captain, if you can't hear him, then why are you answering the summons, shouldn't you be pretending the com is busted, after the squid attack." Haden said sternly to that and the quartet crossed their arms. "Agreed here, if she can't hear you, why did she answer right now exactly?" Walker said sternly and he nodded then.
"Sam, what are you doing?" he asked her and she explained that. "I went out looking for food, we're out of food." she said and Walker, looking over his shoulder at Collins, who shook his head. "Cupboards are loaded, plenty of food in the fridge, she snapped." he said softly and Walker covered the mike with his hand at that remark. "There's plenty of food, I was just in up there, the pressures of being down here, she just cracked, Daniel."
"I think Hancock let her out prematurely here." he said sternly to that and he nodded firmly. "You went to look for food in the spacecraft? That seems a little odd, don't you think?" he asked her gently then. "Why, what's odd about it?" she asked and he explained that to her then. "If there was food? Sam, uh, wouldn't it be three hundred years old?" he said and she said it with a hopeful smile in her tone to that remark at the remark then.
"I was hoping our luck would change and I'd find a cryogenic freezer. Maybe a bottle of bordeaux." she said and Alexander nodded sternly then."She's lying." he said and Walker nodded. "Daniel, she's lying about everything, we been together so long, you said it yourself, after you joined us, why would I lie to you exactly, our friendship." he said and he nodded, knowing that cemented his decision, his ex team to his new friends, Teal'C.
He chose his new Navy quintet, and she said it carefully. "Is Eric there with you, Daniel?" she said and Redford pointed her thumb over her shoulder and he nodded. "Not at the moment right now, Eric's checking the system Sam, but why don't we just talk. When you get back? Meet me in the galley. I'll buy you a cup of coffee, we still have coffee, don't we?" he asked with a joking smile in the question, and they heard a bemused tone.
And to that, as Haden hid a chuckle to that remark. 'If this isn't Sphere, stargate style and nothing ever is right now, he's sounding like Goodman right now. In terms of handling this, and Dave is letting him do the talking for him, but there it is. The psyche report just landed on the table and put her in hotwater again right now. They just got caught out of their desperation and fears.' they heard gently to that and he nodded gently then.
"Very funny, I'll take mine black, like my mood." she said and he nodded. "All right. See you soon." he said and turns off the microphone. "So now what, she's clearly not able to handle this." he asked and he nodded. "Well there it is, she and Jack are determined to get me back over there, as Makepeace is behind bars. And Johnson and Maybourne with him right now, but I'm not going back, the last 10 to 11 months here."
"I never had a better time now, but here's the problem right now, and Uncle Dave you better contact Uncle Jake, but it's they see this. And as 10 to 11 months being an anthropologist and deepsea diver, as too much of a good thing. And time to return to full military again." he said and Henderson crossed his arms. "Well not going to happen, it took less time then ever for you to heal, that I'm not allowing them to push you."
"And back into a relapse, as episode 18 is non canon as is 20, but 19, 21 and 22 are canon." Barnes said sternly and Walker nodded in agreement. "That why should you go back, you're happier then ever, and never been stronger here now. Look at you, you changed, gotten stronger, you're happy with Sarah, the job was never more fun now. That why should we allow them to push you back into that, it's not going to happen."
"They're out of their minds, if they think we're going to allow this, to cause a relapse, besides I prefer you being here. As you share my tastes in undersea exploration, just putting our heads together. As we knock ideas back and forth, you're happy here, that why return this purgatory exactly. With a patient that was beyond the point of desperation, acting like a beyond violent and dangerous person, in military officers.
