As they walked back to the car, House finished the cotton candy he stole from Cameron. He threw the paper cone on the ground, discarding it completely. Cameron went back for it as he walked ahead.
"That's littering!" She said, picking it up off the ground.
"It's paper. Doesn't count." He shrugged.
Her jaw dropped playfully, she scoffed as she found a nearby trash can and dropped them in.
She caught up to him as he reached the car. He had picked her up from her apartment earlier in the night. She had finally found the perfect outfit, but obviously House hadn't mentioned anything about
They got into his car, parked up close in a handicap spot. House talked about the rally and Cameron asked questions. He liked that she wanted to know more.
When they were reaching her apartment, she turned her head to face him.
"I actually had a lot of fun tonight. Thanks for inviting me." She said, smiling.
"Yeah," he audibly gulped louder than he meant to, "I- it was fun. We should, we should do it again sometime."
His tone was awkward, she wasn't used to that. "What, you got another thousand dollars laying around?" She chuckled, trying to ease some of the awkward air.
"No, but Wilson does." He joked, but she knew it wasn't really a joke.
She chuckled, rolling her eyes playfully. Realizing she never answered him, "Yeah. We should do it again."
She watched as his blue eyes glistened in the light from the street lamps, his long eyelashes creating a shadow on his eyelids.
He nodded in approval.
House pulled up to her apartment building.
"Well, this is me." She said as she unbuckled her seatbelt.
She stood outside the car, peering into the open window. "Goodnight, House."
"Night." He nodded.
She walked to the door, unlocking it and turning to where he was parked. She half expected him to peel out as soon as she got out of the car, but he waited for her to get inside her house. She smiled and walked in.
Now inside, she leaned against the door. That was definitely a date, she thought.
House drove off from the curb and was surprised by how much fun he actually had. More fun than it would've been with Wilson. She was fun outside the hospital, hard ass in the hospital. Two different people. He liked the way she was interested in the trucks, the way she asked questions and wanted to know about the history. She was like him in a sense, wanting to know every little detail.
And god, the outfit she wore. Way different than her professional attire. When they were in the office and she asked about outfit choices, he said "dress casual." She shrugged and left. This was beyond anything he could've predicted. It was casual but cute, the jacket was a nice touch. Maybe, they could work out. But no, this wasn't a date. Okay, maybe it was a date.
