A week had passed since Tatsuya started his second run of Magic High School. Although classes had started, it had yet to pick up the pace since most of the students were only starting to adjust to the new system. As the student council president, Tatsuya had his fair share of work to do. Both the Club Committee and Disciplinary Committee had been established and out of the three bodies, the Student Council had the least number of members.

Currently, Tatsuya is in his home workshop. He had been pursuing something that was considered groundbreaking in even his own time- Flight Magic.

Although Tatsuya had completed a flight device in his own timeline before entering the Nine School Competition, the model had only been made public for about a week or so at that point and needed a lot of optimizations due to its high rate of psion consumption. Tatsuya had held back on the development of such a device in this life mainly due to the fact that he didn't feel any need for one. In his old life, the flying spell was a way to increase his infamy as Taurus Silver, which in turn would translate to increased profits for FLT. After all, as soon as the model had been made public, FLT had gained a multi-billion-dollar deal from multiple governments across the world. However, with the perfection of the teleportation spell that he had named Gate, Tatsuya held very little need for a flying spell.

His current desire to make one stemmed from the fact that he had a lot of resources lying around that he couldn't find any way to use efficiently. Tatsuya had spent a good deal of his off-time hunting criminals that were magicians across the globe which had netted him more Induction stones than he had any use for. Therefore, he had gotten to making the device which was extremely easy to make once you knew the concept.

Tatsuya was aware of the fact that the Yotsuba had been snooping around his house a lot in the past few months, probably due to his resemblance to his former grandfather. Therefore, he had taken appropriate countermeasures to ensure that they didn't find anything that he didn't want them to find.

One of the best things that Tatsuya could say about Charade was the fact that he could cast it on non-living beings as well. Therefore, his entire workshop was covered in the spell when he wasn't around. Although it consumes a good amount of psion to keep it active, it wasn't anything worth mentioning to him. Even when the Yotsuba had combed his basement, all they ever saw was a completely ordinary workbench.

With just an hour, he was able to complete the flying device but the main problem was the fact that he had nowhere to test it in his house. His old house might have been small by the Ten Master Clans standard, but even it had a large underground testing field bigger than his current house. Since he didn't feel the necessity to test the device for now, he decided to leave it for later.

"Pres, here's the list of all the clubs accepted by the Club Committee." Tatsuya was currently busy doing student council work. Although his position as the President came with very limited powers when it came to having interactions with students as compared to the Head of the Disciplinary Committee or even the Club Committee, it had a ton of paperwork to be completed. He could vaguely sympathize with Saegusa Mayumi on a spiritual level. Although most of the decisions regarding club activities and which clubs to accept and reject, etc… were held by the Club Committee, The Student Council was the final stamp of approval needed to make the decision final. Although Tatsauya had next to nothing to change from the documents submitted by Club Committee, (Miya had submitted documents that were near perfect even by corporate standards) he still had to go through every single one of them before accepting them.

Some of the notable clubs to be formed included the Kenjustsu Club to be headed by one Chiba Jouichiro and a Kendo club which was headed by one Anna Rosen Katori. Tatsuya was well aware of the history behind Erika's birth and as such, he could feel a headache coming his way when he saw these two in the list. Thankfully, Maya would be the one to deal with them if they caused any issues and he wouldn't have to step in unless things get out of hand.

"Thank you, Fujimoto-san. You can leave those on the table." He thanked the Secretary who had brought the documents for him.

All three of the student council members other than him were female. This was largely due to the fact that his fellow boys had largely flunked on the theoretical exams and due to the almost non-existent gap between the practical exam results, the girls had taken up a vast majority of the top thirty position in the school ranking. In fact, Tatsuya was the only boy in the top 5 with the next highest placing male student ranked at number nine.

Ichihara Suzume was the fourth-highest-ranked student in the school and as such, served as the Vice-President. She held a striking resemblance to her daughter Suzune which showcased how important genetics was for a magician. Like the Ichihara-senpai of his time, she was rather an aloof person who rarely showed any emotions on her face. He felt that she was a bit too thin for a sixteen-year-old but then again, his sensibilities weren't exactly normal. Her hair was almost as dark as his own. As far as he knew, the Ichihara family had yet to lose their number which meant that Suzume was not as pessimistic as her future daughter.

Morisaki Nagisa was yet another person whose future child Tatsuya was acquainted with, even if it was only a hostile relationship. Unlike her future son, Nagisa was an extremely cheerful person who could even be called an airhead if you wanted to. Her skills, however, were no joke and she was extremely competent when it came to magic. She had short brown hair and was anything but slender. Tatsuya might not have been very interested in the female body in his past life, but he could say without a shadow of a doubt that only a handful of women he knew could match Nagisa's proportions. From her introduction, however, she had been studying in an all-girls school before and had no idea the effect it might have on the male population of the school.

Continuing the trend of being the future parent of one of his future acquaintances Naruse Benio, who served as the secretary. At first glance, she did not resemble anyone he knew but the future Kitayama matriarch whose daughter he had managed during the NSC had an extremely similar Psion wavelength to her future daughter. On second glance, he could see bits of Shizuku here and there in her. From the limited interactions that he had with her, she was a rather serious person.

"I have come to play." His thoughts were interrupted by an expected arrival. In just a single week that he had gone to school, Tatsuya had already grown accustomed to his former aunt's antics. When she wasn't doing her job as the chief of the Disciplinary Committee, she was either disturbing him or Miya. It didn't take him much time to get used to the forceful nature that was inherent to her.

"Do you not have anything else to do, Maya-san?" Since he had to regularly interact with both the Yotsuba twins, he had decided to use their first name instead. Maya had wanted him to drop the honorifics altogether but he didn't want to cause any misunderstandings.

"Tatsuya-kun, Nee-chan is being mean to me". Maya whined. "She kicked me out of the room and told me to go bother someone else. Isn't that mean?"

"I suppose you might have annoyed Miya-san a bit too much". Tatsuya said in the best deadpan voice he could muster.

"How rude! I only asked her about the paperwork ten times in ten minutes. It wasn't that bad." She explained. Tatsuya could only sigh. While he preferred this version of Maya to the psychopath of his time, it wasn't without drawbacks of its own.

"Don't you have work to do? I know there isn't much activity after school as of now but some of the clubs have already started their activities. I thought the Disciplinary Committee might have started their patrols by now." He asked between reading the documents.

"There isn't enough for us to do for now. Minami-chan said she'll do the paperwork for me and we only need three or four people to patrol the school. That means there's nothing for me to personally take care of." Maya explained.

"You are supposed to be the one doing the paperwork." Although he wanted to say that, Tatsuya held back his thoughts. The room settled into a comfortable silence for a while.

"That will be all for today. Let us continue this tomorrow." Tatsuya said as he closed the terminal in which he had been entering the data for the student database. The other members left soon afterwards which left him alone with Maya.

"Are you not leaving Maya-san?" Tatsuya asked.

"Wanna go together?" She asked in return.

"I suppose there's no problem with that. Let us go meet Miya-san." He had been accustomed to accompanying the Yotsuba sisters to their servants before going home.

"Hey, Tatsuya." As they were walking towards the Club Committee building, Maya asked.

"Yes?"

"Do you not have a CAD of your own? I have never seen yours at all." Maya's question was valid as members of the Student Council and other committees were allowed to carry their own CADs with them. However, it wasn't like he could do it since the Trident wasn't something that belonged to this time period. Miya was extremely knowledgeable about almost all models of CADs available on the market and his CAD would raise way too many questions.

"I do have one. It is a low-end model so there isn't much I can do with it." Tatsumi had bought an extremely low-end CAD for him upon passing the entrance exam. While he felt a bit bad about having his father spend a large sum of money for something that he wouldn't even use, he needed a CAD of this time which could help avoid suspicion.

"Really? I thought you would have really great equipment with how comfortable you are with the school equipment." Since Tatsuya was using the device provided to the Disciplinary Committee which was very high-spec for the current era, Maya's question made sense.

"I know the theory behind it. That's all I need really." He explained.

"You must be some kind of genius then."

"Let's just go with that. By the way, send my regards to Yasuyou-sama." Tatsuya was acquainted with the Yotsuba Matriarch after their past meeting.

"Are you aiming for my mother, Tatsuya-kun?!" Maya got weirdly defensive for some reason. "I'll have you know that my mother loves my father a bit too much for you to sink your claws into her."

As a response, Tatsuya gave her the best deadpan expression he could muster.

"Oh! You're no fun." Maya pouted. He didn't give any reply to her. They soon met up with Miya who had finished her work. After bidding farewell to the twins, Tatsuya made his way to his own house.

JSDF Headquarters, Tokyo.

In the Tokyo headquarters of the JSDF, there was a building that stood isolated from the rest of the military complex. It was a building that very few officers had access to. Inside said building, there was a meeting going on.

"Well guys, it's time for our monthly meeting. Do we have any new leads about 'him' that we didn't have in the last meeting?" As a person who had joined the military purely to earn money, Youji Itami would have been happy to spend his entire career as a low-ranked officer in the military before quitting. However, his relatively peaceful life came to a halt when he was given an assignment that had stumped him for well over three years.

Itami was the head of a secret Investigation wing of the JSDF that had the sole purpose of tracking down the rogue magician known as Maheshwara. They were currently in a cooperative relationship with the Americans who had been keen on joining the efforts.

"We have nothing notable to report, commander." Kuribayashi Shino had been Itami's junior in the military since the day that she had joined and as such, had a rather close relationship with him. However, her current demeanor was completely serious due to the fact that she was in the presence of many other officers.

"What do you mean by 'notable', Sergeant? Did something happen that we need to be aware of?" John Smith was the leader of the USNA wing of the investigation unit. A tall, blonde man in his forties, he was what most people would consider a handsome fellow. Since he had been in contact with this particular unit for over three years, his tone was rather friendly.

"We thought we had a hit last week. One of our contacts in North Africa had informed us that there was someone calling himself Maheshwara, who had been committing a large number of crimes in one of the princely states. However, our investigation resulted in us finding a con artist who had learned the name from one of the underground channels and was trying to use it to gain infamy." Shino reported.

Although the information wasn't available in the public domain, Dahan wasn't the only time the entity known as 'Maheshwara' had been caught on camera. The being had performed multiple hits across the world which had almost always resulted in the disappearance of criminals who happened to be magicians. Even after three years of vigorous investigations, none of the victims had been found and there were no leads either which had resulted in a lot of the higher-ups questioning their efficiency.

"Man! Why do we have to be assigned this wild goose chase?" Itami complained. By now, almost all the members of the squads were used to their Captain's rumblings. "Everyone knows that that guy isn't going to be caught if he doesn't want us to catch him. One would think that it is a waste of resources by now. "

"While I agree, I don't think there is anything we can do about it. My superiors have given the order to continue our search for now." Smith said.

"I guess we'll have to continue this for now. Does anyone have anything to add?" Itami asked to which no one responded.

Yotsuba Old House.

If someone asked her about it, Ayame would be the first person to agree that she was a psychopath. One couldn't live through the early days of the discovery of magic and remain sane at the same time. That said, Ayame had lived her entire life following the principle that family came before everything. She loved her family and did everything for their benefit. Even when she had murdered almost all of her siblings, it had been for Genzou's sake to ensure that he could take over the family without issue in the future. That said, she was not a good person in the slightest.

Ayame knew that she was an arrogant individual at heart. She held a lot of pride in the family that she had built from the ground up and the connections that she had formed in the process. In fact, in terms of sheer political might, the Yotsuba was only second to The Senate which controlled everything in the dark.

That said, the past three years had seen her faith in her own abilities be tested again and again as she tried to hunt down one individual that left no traces behind.

Initially, Ayame had been interested in Maheshwara purely due to the fact that he had been able to escape her eyes. Elemental Sight might not be all-seeing, a fact that she knew about due to her knowledge of the Kudou Clan's Parade, but the fact that someone could enter a house that she was present in and leave without a care in the world angered her. Even Parade had its flaws that she could exploit with enough prep but this seemingly unknown person left behind no traces whatsoever.

At first, she believed that she would get her answers in a few weeks at best since no one was able to successfully evade their information network without leaving any traces behind. The weeks turned into months and months into years yet he was never caught. By this point, her search had been a matter of personal pride rather than the benefit of the family and Ayame knew this.

"Do we have anything new Juuzou-san?" Ayame asked her son-in-law who had been tasked with collecting information for her by Genzou.

"Sadly, the case in Africa was a bust. It was nothing more than a con artist pretending to be someone that they are not." Juuzou replied. He was one of the few members of the Yotsuba who had an amicable relationship with the former matriarch. "However, one of our sources has informed us that 'he' was sighted in Shanghai two days ago. They haven't been able to establish any contact as of now." He reported.

"I suppose it is going to be the same as always? This is what, the tenth time this has happened?" She asked.

"I believe that to be the case, Mother. We have yet to find anything noteworthy."

"Keep me updated on any new findings. Now, about that Shiba boy, do we have anything new?" Ayame had been keenly interested in the enigma that was Shiba Tatsuya. The boy's resemblance to her own son might have been chalked up to pure coincidence by the rest of the family but she knew better than that.

"I believe we might have found something interesting. I have yet to give this data to Genzou-dono but we traced the Shiba family's origins. Apparently, one of their ancestors was a part of our clan that did not participate in the experiments at The Fourth Institute. Somehow, they have been able to produce a few magically gifted individuals throughout the generations but none of them are anything noteworthy except for Tatsuya-san." He explained.

"That isn't as close as I expected it to be but we'll take it. You should let Genzou know about this." Ayame said.

That's all for today. If everything goes well, I will be able to upload faster for a while. There's a high chance that I'll get the next week off from work since most of my Auditing gigs for the period are done and the remaining is supposed to be done by my partners.

Boring details of my life aside, I sincerely want to thank everyone for their continued support for this fic. Special thanks to fencer29, Shen1412 and Me myself and I who have been around since I started this fic and provide constructive criticism for every single chapter.

I'll see you soon.

P.S Hopefully this chapter addressed some of the plot holes from the past chapters. kudos to anyone who could find the obscure reference to another anime that I made in this chapter.
