Chapter Nineteen: To LeDorada
"Wait hold on, pause, rewind, time out!" Kyler spoke making a time-out hand gesture, "Tercero didn't you say that you will get in trouble if you go back?"
"We have no choice, nowhere in Albion, or Aurora is safe, Samarkand is too far, South Islands even greater, it is the closet place we can take her where she will be safe, my Order has the means to keep her safe and give her the médica that she needs," Tercero spoke.
"Look we're jumping the gun here, we haven't even rescued my mother yet, surely there somewhere else we can take her?" Isaac spoke up.
"Where is this place anyway Tercero?" Jaya asked watching the map study the map and pointing to the uppermost part of Albion where the map cuts off.
"LeDorada, it a small country compared to Albion, ruled by a monarquía eh a King?" Tercero spoke. (monarquía = monarchy)
"Hate to be that person but, tensions are high with all the countries right now, will LeDorada even let us get near their country if we tried to sail there?" Seth asked.
"As long as you don't go sailing Albion flags you should be able to get close," Gabriel said.
"Once there we can use the Cullis Gates to get us around," Isaac spoke studying the map.
"Wait, LeDorada Cullis Gates are still active?" Connor asked seeing the assassin nod.
"Si, unlike Albion, we didn't let our magic die out, we are especially protective of our dragones," Tercero chuckled.
"Dragons? Your country has dragons?!" Jaya asked in amazement.
"Si, though they aren't as gigante as they used to be when their species were hunted, my country protected them, the largest they can get is about eh a Troll size?" Tercero spoke. (Si = yes, gigante = giant / large)
"That's still pretty big mate!" Kyler chuckled.
"LeDorada is a beautiful country with a rich history of culture, food, music, and dance, even some of their buildings are worth seeing, like the famous Coatépec, the square pyramids," Gabriel spoke before leaving in a beam of light.
"Most of the tourists usually go see the Ciel Tower anyway, mostly to do their estúpido 'selfies' with their teléfonos, the pendejos," Tercero spoke rolling his eyes. (estúpido = idiotic, teléfonos = phones, pendejos = assholes)
"Oh, I've seen those pictures! Where it a perspective view and they make it look like they're leaning on it," Seth chuckled.
"I will admit I am quite excited to try their foods, Mexican and French cuisine if I recall?" Jaya asked Tercero who nodded.
"Okay here's the plan, Kyler, Seth you two will stay here and help get the ship ready to sail, buy what you need to make this ship comfortable for her. Tercero, you and Isaac will go and get his mom and bring her here, Jaya you and I will go into town and see what medical supplies we can pick up for the trip to the island," Connor spoke giving everyone their duties before separating.
Later that night Seth smirked when he managed to get a generator installed into the ship and light began to come on, "Got it! How are the new appliances coming along Kyler?"
Below deck, Kyler set down a fridge with ease shoving it into place before he began to screw it down to the floor, "putting in the last piece now!"
Walking into the cabin Connor carried in several large brown bags, "Geeze Kyler! You how much did all this cost?!"
"Don't worry about it! Your pal Friday was able to secure all my savings and transfer it into an untraceable account, I'm rich remember?" Kyler chuckled watching Connor and Jaya stalk the cabinet with the supplies.
"I hope this will be enough for the poor woman," Jaya spoke placing some potions in the fridge.
"Since we have time before Tercero gets back," Roscoe spoke hopping onto the bed, "what are we going to do about his Order? They don't sound like the forgiving lot."
"I was wondering that same thing, we will have to play it by ear, we still know little to nothing about their Order, their rules, punishments, let sit back and see how things play out and intervene, when necessary," Connor advised.
"The other rooms are ready to go, everyone should be comfortable on the ship till we arrive at the next destination," Seth spoke entering the room, "Why don't we just use the Sanctuary to teleport us there again?"
"Well, for one thing, LeDorada isn't on the enchanted map table, yet, I am working on adding it right now as we speak," Gabriel spoke from the Sanctuary.
"Since it is ruled by a king maybe we can get their country to help us with the civil war?" Kyler asked seeing Seth scoff.
"Fat chance mate, the other countries like Samarkand and LeDorada refuse to meddle in other civil wars, not since the tension has been high and the threat of a world war could happen," Seth spoke.
"I hear the Emperor of Samarkand made it very clear to Tirich that if he or any Albion soldier set one foot on his country uninvited, he wouldn't hesitate to retaliate to protect his people," Jaya spoke packing away some bandages.
"Don't they have a bloody dragon too?" Seth asked looking at the others.
"Wasn't that just a rumor? Where on earth would the Samarkand Royal Family even keep a massive dragon anyway," Connor shrugged.
Hearing his phone go off Seth pulled out his phone and raised an eyebrow, "huh? That makes no sense."
"What don't Seth?" Kyler asked seeing the other show his message to Connor.
"Friday wants us to meet him as soon as possible at...Clockwork Island?" Connor said making the room go silent.
"Clockwork Island? The one that sank into the sea after that explosion fifty years ago?" Kyler asked.
"What's even stranger is that Friday made it clear from day one that he needs to keep a distance from the Resistance for his safety, the fact that he asking to meet now must mean something has happened," Connor said looking to Seth, "should we go now?"
"No, he said 'as soon as possible,' not immediately, so we have time," Seth spoke replying to Friday's message, "we will come after we visit LeDorada."
"How did you two meet this 'Friday' anyway?" Kyler asked taking a seat.
"He reached out to us actually, saw what we were doing to try and put an end to Tirich and Reaver's rule, and offered us his assistance whenever he could, his hacking skills bailed us out of a few situations in the past," Seth said joining him at the table.
"Tercero should be returning soon, let get the ship ready to sail," Connor spoke heading on deck.
A few hours later Tercero returned to the cave carrying one end of a stretcher with Isaac the other end with Isaac's mother lying on the stretcher.
"Glad you two made it back safely, did everything work out?" Connor asked helping Tercero carry Ms. Kingston onto the ship.
"Don't worry Ms. Kingston we'll take good care of you," Kyler smiled picking up the woman and carrying her inside the cabin.
"Well, I had to slit the throats of a few of Reaver's pendejos, but Isaac and I were able to get to her safely to bring her here," Tercero explained watching Isaac follow his mother into the cabin where Kyler laid her on the bed and Isaac took her hand.
"Don't worry Mother, I'll call you every night when I can," Isaac smiled at his mother who turned her glowing eyes to him and lifted a shaking hand to touch Isaac's cheek.
"Such a good boy," she smiled.
"You're not coming with us?" Connor asked seeing the other stand up from the side of the bed and shake his head.
"I wish I could but I have to stay, it would look suspicious if I vanished, I still have to make sure my sister is safe, make my father think I am obeying in will, I am trusting you to keep my mother safe," Isaac spoke glaring at Connor.
"Don't worry, we'll keep her safe," Connor smiled watching Isaac take his phone and put his number in.
"Here is my number, keep me updated and all of you be careful," Isaac said handing the phone back before leaving.
"Let's set sail!" Connor spoke heading up to the helm.
While the heroes set sail for LeDorada Gabriel was setting up the map table noticing one of the cards on the table start to glow.
"Oi! What that?" Ginjer asked hopping up to look at one of the two cards in Samarkand.
"That would be another hero, the time is drawing near before he will join us," Gabriel spoke studying the card with two hands on a crown.
"What makes him special?" Ginjer asked helping Nova up to see the map table.
"Well to put it bluntly if something were to happen to Connor, he would be a spare, however, I think if both were to stand in place during the ritual we would have two heroes of the Black bloodline," Gabriel spoke studying the card.
"Don't we only need one anyway?" Ginjer asked.
"Hmm not necessarily, think about Connor's ancestors, starting with the Hero of Oakvale he had a sister who also wielded magic. The Hero of Bower Lake would have had a similar situation too if his sister Rose was not killed. The same nearly happened with the Hero of Brightwall, Logan's power would have remained sealed away had I not meddled," Gabriel explained holding up two fingers, "it has always been two."
"What about Connor's sister? Is she not a possible hero candidate too?" Ginjer asked seeing Gabriel study the map.
"In this case, no, there is no magic lying hidden within her, when Connor eventually finds her, he will better understand," Gabriel spoke watching the hero's cards sailing across the sea west towards LeDorada.
Sailing across the sea night fell and Jaya exited out of the Captain Quarters turning off the lights, "Ms. Kingston is asleep now, the poor woman, I have never seen such a condition before."
"I guess no magic can reverse the effects?" Kyler asked crossing his arms.
"Afraid not, her very soul has been damaged from having all her youth stolen, all we can do for her is try to keep her as comfortable as possible," Jaya spoke looking up the crow's nest where Tercero kept watch.
"How long till we get there Tercero?!" Seth called up.
"Soon! Get some sleep! We should arrive by tomorrow afternoon," Tercero called back.
"You heard him, Marianne will get us there," Connor said heading below deck with the others.
Sleeping through the night Tercero climbed down from the crow's nest when he could see the port town of Dragon's Reach.
The country itself was built onto the very mountains themselves, around the largest mountain in the middle of the sea was surrounded by seven smaller mountains each covered with colorful houses and stores that ascended up each mountain while in the middle mountain, the castle stood on the highest peek overlooking all the other cities and towns.
Across each mountain were many gondola systems allowing the citizens of each easy access between their homes as well as large bridges that lifted to allow ships through.
"Wow!" Jaya smiled stepping out on the desk to look at the colorful new country, "it's beautiful!"
"LeDorada is sometimes known as the Dragon's Crown, the main castle stands there in the middle, we call it the Montaña del Espíritu, the Mountain of Spirit, each of the mountain islands represents an element," Tercero explained pointing to the mountain on the far left.
"I know that one, that's where the three large square pyramids are, the Mountain of Nature right?" Seth asked.
"Close Seth, we call that Montaña de Poder, the Mountain of Might, you can't see it from here but behind the mountain it flattens and curves down to where the Coatépec resides, relics of the Old Kingdom," Tercero spoke watching Seth taking a picture.
"There are so many windmills," Connor said seeing all the tall white windmill-like buildings covering all the islands.
"Those are Wind Turbines, first created on Montaña de Brisa, the Mountain of Breeze," Tercero pointed, "they are what generates power across our country, nature powers our cities."
"Where is the Ceil Tower located?" Seth asked looking around and seeing Tercero pointing to a mountain island behind Spirit.
"There on the Montaña de Chispa, the Mountain of Spark, it was built roughly five hundred or so years ago? It acts as a conduit during storms protecting the other islands by drawing the thunder and lightning to it," Tercero explained.
"Is the mountain a volcano?!" Kyler asked pointing to the one mountain island that looked like a volcano.
"Si! Montaña de Las Llamas, The Mountain of Blazes, don't worry it's been erupting for almost a thousand years now," Tercero shrugged.
"Erupting?! How are you calm about that?" Kyler asked seeing Tercero chuckle.
"It is a very rare lava lake in a crater, of course, tourists must drive five hours to reach it, scientist come there to study the behavior of volcanos without the risk of an explosion," Tercero explained.
"That island there must be water then, right?" Jaya asked pointing to a mountain where many boats were sailing towards.
"Si, that the Montaña de La Pureza, the Mountain of Purity, many climb its high peaks so that they can drink from the sacred spring water, most believe this water is why the sea life come so close to that island alone," Tercero smiled seeing Connor looking around.
"Where are the dragons? I thought you had dragons?" Connor asked seeing Tercero chuckle and walk to the side of the ship.
"They're here," he pointed with others looking over the edge to see serpent-like white dragon swimming in the clear water under them.
"Sea Dragons!" Jaya gasped watching one jump out of the water before them and dive back under like a dolphin splashing water at them.
"They're all around," Tercero chuckled looking up when a shadow flew over them and a pack of blue skin dragons flew towards the Breeze Mountain.
Hearing a roar the heroes watched to see a gold dragon sparking with electricity from its horn heading toward the Mountain of Spark.
"There is a dragon of every breed here!" Seth gasped, "the people seem calm."
"Why would we be afraid? Our country lives in peace with the dragones, it's like eh, what do you call it? Symbiotic partnership?" Tercero explained seeing a Sea Dragon lift its head from the water and peeking curiously over at him, Tercero then approached and petted the dragon's snout, "Hola hermosa." (Hola hermosa = Hello beautiful)
"We can touch it?" Jaya asked seeing Tercero nod and motioned for her allowing Jaya to smile and pet the dragon snout, "she is beautiful."
"We protect the dragones from hunters, and they protect us, we have earned their trust, they are sacred to us," Tercero said watching the Sea Dragon dive back down into the waters below.
"What are those last two islands?" Seth asked pointing as their ship began to follow the coastline of the Mountain of Spirt.
"The twin mountains, nearly identical we call them the Montañas De Sol y Luna, the Mountains of Sun and Moon, Light and Dark for others," Tercero explained pointing, "They represent the theme of life, light can not exist without dark, the Sol can not rise till the Luna rests."
"So which mountain island are we going to Tercero?" Connor asked watching him point to the Mountain of Purity.
"That is where my Order is hidden," Tercero said, "hidden away within its mountains, deep in the Keylodge Forest is the hidden temple."
"Let's dock the ship then, exploring the large forest will not be easy while carrying Ms. Kingston," Connor spoke looking at the approaching island.
"No need, once we dock, we will simply take the Cullis Gate to the halfway point," Tercero spoke.
"Gather what we need everyone!" Connor said getting ready with the others to board the new country.
A.N. Allow me to shed some light on the creation of the new country LeDorada.
So in the world of Fable some of the countries are a mix of different cultures.
For example, in the Country of Samarkand, based on the little information based on the games and the Books, we know that Samarkand is a mix of Arabic and Japanese cultures (The Katanas). However we never get specifications where the many roots are, be it Middle Eastern, Chinese, Mulsim, Japanese, or Islamic, we never really get a confirmed answer. So in my story, Samarkand is a mix of many Eastern cultures that blend in harmony.
So the inspiration behind LeDorada is a mix of Spanish and French culture, I am not just exclusively sticking with Mexican culture in this country, there are a few references to Italian as well.
I also did the same with the South Islands which we may return to in the future too ;P
