Judy woke up and stared at a dusty ceiling. "Ugh, why do I feel so weak?" She then took a sniff of the area. "Eww, where am I?"

Madge swung her chair from her desk. "Hey, it's me, and you are in my humble abode, after I was found by a certain rabbit." Judy slightly scuffled away from her while covering herself more. She then awkwardly smiled. Nick stood up as he felt something was off. "Don't worry, and I fully understand why you are scared. They used a group of chemicals and bonded them together to make an uber-charged fear-inducing drug. One that is even more powerful than ones that are available in the market, although there is some traces of it in the 'Uberdread' as I will call it."

"What does that mean?"

"It means I can't help you here. You should head to the actual hospital soon. I have tended to your actual wounds though."

"Th-thank you. W-why did you help me?" Nick wrapped himself around the slightly scared rabbit.

"Called in by someone 'higher-up'. Not like I had a choice in the matter. If I knew I would decline, no offence."

Judy leaned into her fox. "None taken."

"Curious, doesn't he scare you?"

"No? He's the only reason I'm alive. I trust him with my life."

"With your life? But that is-"

"My partner and saviour, yeah." Madge went back to her computer while shaking her head. "Is there an issue?"

"Well, not an ethical one but it does create a question. How would you feel with anyone else in the ZPD?"

"Err, I don't know?" Judy genuinely started thinking about her reaction. "I... don't... know."

"Hmm, sounds right. I can't help you here, I don't have any equipment or financial aid to do so."

"That's fine, I'll just go to the hospital." She tried to get up but when her feet touched the ground, she instantly collapsed to the floor.

"You must be exhausted. You should rest."

"I want to get this cleared out of my body as soon as possible."

"You are a terrible patient. Fine go, I can't keep you here anyways." Madge grumbled while heading to the door. "Follow me to leave."

"How long was I here?"

"About a couple hours, that fox of yours is surprisingly well behaved, apart from the times when he wanted to bite me. That was a bit of an awkward situation." She chuckled. "On that note, he cleaned your wounds, so be careful when you get home, apply some hydrogen peroxide or at least a strong alcohol." Judy nodded. She struggled to follow but was able to keep up by leaning on her friend.

The three headed upstairs and reached a door. "You want to go through there then left. After you turn left, take the third right and you will be at the hospital after walking straight."

"Thank you." Judy tried to climb her fox but struggled due to her exhaustion. Nick saw this and leaned downwards. Judy then jumped on his back and they slowly walked to the hospital. Nick refused to run faster since Judy could barely stay fully conscious.

Many mammals watched curiously as the fox trotted carefully down the road. There was quite a few that recorded it. This caused many more to come and watch, causing the fox to panic a bit. He started to snarl a bit at the crowd surrounding him.

After a few minutes, the ZPD found them using all the footage available from passerbys. "Judy, what are you doing here?" Judy opened her eyes and looked at who spoke. It was Delgato. She panicked and fell to the floor on the opposite side. She squeaked as she dropped to the floor with a thud."Are you okay?" Delgato got out of his cruiser and approached the smaller duo. That was until Judy started retreating to a wall and Nick started going on the defensive. "Woah, woah, it's me, Delgato."

Judy then looked again. "Oh, it is you, I'm sorry for acting like that. It's just that I need to get to the hospital."

"I can take you there."

Then from the radio came a message. "Officer Pawson has returned with a tip of a few places to check, says they were given anonymously to him." Delgato looked back at his cruiser.

"Like I said, I can get you to the hospital quicker."

"You want to help? Get them, before they are killed."

"What do you mean by that?"

"W-well, I-I don't want to discuss it." Judy shied away, hiding her muzzle behind her paws.

"Fine, but promise you will iron it out, yeah?"

"mmhmm." She responded, trying to avoid prolonged contact. Nick started to walk towards the lion, snarling sharply.

"Okay, okay, fine, I'll leave." Delgato slowly backed off, hoping not to aggravate the fox anymore. "I'll see you later." The car drove off back towards precinct one.

"Nick, let's just get to the hospital." She tried to climb back onto the fox but failed due to landing on her side before. Nick noticed this and picked her up in his jaws to carry around. "Thanks, Nick." This time, due to the tighter grip, Nick started running.

After a few minutes, Nick arrived at the hospital and walked up to the reception. He sat down and placed Judy down on the ground. She moaned as she was put down. Nick pushed her towards the desk and whimpered. The receptionist saw this and recognised the duo. She picked up her radio and called over Dr. Growly.

Dr. Growly sprinted over as quick as he could and saw the two in the lobby. "Mr. Wilde, Mrs. Hopps, follow me." Judy didn't react as she was asleep now. Nick looked at the rabbit in front of him and picked her up. He then delicately followed the doctor. The tiger looked at the rabbit with a worried expression on his face. "I'd ask what happened but..."

The fox growled in response. "Exactly. That's what I was gonna say as well." The tiger stated, slightly disappointed. "Get in before anyone else gets to scared to move from their office." He looked around with an awkward smile, seeing an entire group of mammals, both patients and nurses, staring at the fox and fearing what could happen.

Inside the office, Growly locked the door and started to hold a breath. He then approached Judy, who was being delicately pushed towards him by an upset fox. He picked up the rabbit and placed her on the bed. "So, what is wrong with you now?" He mumbled to himself. Nick looked at the doctor curiously. James turned around to try and approach his patient but was surprised by Nick staring at him, while being right beside him. "Woah, holy mackerel." Growly walked around the fox, who was cautiously following behind. "Please, let me do my job." He seemingly begged but Nick didn't understand nor care for what the doctor wanted. He just wanted to make sure that Judy was okay.

Growly checked the body and wanted to see what damage it has taken. "Hmm, the wounds seem to be dealt with, what else is wrong then?" He questioned to seemingly no-one. He then pulled out a syringe and taken a blood sample. He placed the blood in a vial and analysed it. He looked through the microscope and saw many unusual things. He then looked back at the rabbit. "Wow, you are dealing with hell right now."

After a few hours

Judy woke up again and saw the tiger sitting at his desk. She unwillingly squeaked. James then turned around and saw her awake. "Hey, how was your rest?" She shuffled away slightly. "Right." He sighed.

"M-my rest was g-good."

"You know it's safe, right?"

"I don't know, it's just I-I..."

"Scared? Yeah, makes sense." Growly confirmed. "If the blood sample is anything to go by, you have a unique chemical coursing through your veins and well, we don't know how to deal with it."

"Ok, but where's Nick?" She suddenly realised. Her question was filled with panic. He pointed to a corner of the room, causing her to turn around and look at him. She then jumped out and ran towards him. Her legs were still slightly weak. She fell to the floor and groaned at the impact. Nick then jumped up and ran towards her. He then curled around her body and she snuggled in. James looked at the sight and started to jot down some notes.

"So, do you feel safe with him?"

"Yes, he is single-handedly the reason I'm still alive." James nodded. "I-I would've d-died and n-n-no-one would even know." She started to cry. Dr. Growly wanted to put his notes down and hug her but knew that that was a terrible idea right now.

"You have to be brave though."

"Can't you help me?"

"The base drug has no simple antidote, this improvement makes it harder to cure. My one suggestion is go somewhere safe, where you feel safe, and wait until the world feels less scary." Growly stated with a sense of regret. "I really wish I could help you, by literally any means but, I can't. You will feel scared of everything. Except him. Him and your family maybe." He looked around. He then walked up to the two. "You had a few guests but I couldn't let them in."

"Who?"

"Clawhauser and Bogo."

"O-oh, you can l-let them in." The two then walked in. "H-hey, you two."

"Hopps, what are you doing?" Everyone looked at her trying to cover herself with Nick's tail. Nick was more than happy to oblige. "Doc, what's going on?"

"Well, by the looks of things, there is a super condensed form of the fear inducing toxin. We don't know what to call it but be careful, it could have bad effects."

"That's interesting, we had a full horde of mammals that behaved similarly, with paranoia and fear of talking to us. A lot actually acted similarly to that."

"Clawhauser, what are you talking about?"

"Well, you know the mammals I mentioned? The ones that told us a solo police officer saved them? Only one of them actually spoke." Bogo looked more sternly at his receptionist. "So, I decided to send them to the holding cells." Growly heard this and facepalmed so loudly that everyone jumped and Nick took a defensive stance. "Did I do something wrong?"

"Did you even contact the hospital?"

"Well, no I sent the ZPD on site specialist."

"You s-sent a shrink?" Benjamin started to try and hide in his neck. It looked as if he was folding in on himself. "Y-you're joking, r-right?"

"Doc, do you think you can help them all?"

"No, I don't but if there is a brave one then maybe the drug had a lesser effect and we can derive a nullifying agent from her blood. If she would be consenting and willing of course." He then grabbed a radio from his belt. "Send a vehicle to pick up one," He then turned to Clawhauser and asked, "Sorry, what's the mammal's name?"

"Katherine."

Growly nodded and smiled. "Wait, what happened to Kathy, she survived? Jake saved them as well?"

Then the two officers turned to her, while Growly finished radioing his request. "Who?" Judy then smiled awkwardly as fear was starting to get a hold of her.

"Remember, no stress or fear inducing tactics." He then looked at Bogo for a second. "So... try being less like yourself in front of these mammals." Bogo rolled his eyes.

Clawhauser then started to walk up calmly to Judy. "Hey, it's okay, I won't bite you." That was when Nick turned his head at the cheetah and started to show his teeth.

"That's not good." Bogo and Growly both stated at the same time. "Think you could sedate him if needed?"

"Not necessarily, his blood is much thicker and his metabolism is probably much higher. In other words, most poisons and chemicals would have little effect on him or would just quickly dissolve, nullifying the effects drastically."

"Think I could hold him?"

"That's a very risky manoeuvre. He could probably break out of your grip and well, you don't want to know what happens next."

"I get it, I get it, but he isn't a field officer." They look back at the cheetah, who remained frozen to avoid being mauled to death. He smiled very sweetly yet nervously. "If anything happens-"

"Then you can blame the one that caused this to him. It's not any of their faults." Bogo relented. "Now, honestly, I would recommend that you give them a break until she is of sound and healthy mind to work."

"I would want assurance you will do everything you can to help her recover."

"I am obligated by the Hippocratic oath to-"

"Do her no harm, that's different."

"Fine, I've seen enough good mammals die to watch another one die on the line of duty." He snapped back, feeling pressed in a corner.

Bogo stared questioningly, "What happened?"

"War, war always happens, I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to save lives but the state they were in is ju-" Growly turned away and looked at his monitor. After pausing for a few seconds, he continued "I'm obligated by law to do everything in my power to save her, you have my word."

Bogo sighed. "Clawhauser, we have tormented the two for long enough, time to get back to the precinct." Clawhauser nodded ever so slightly, while slowly treading backwards. He didn't break eye contact with the fox. "Clawhauser! Hurry up."

"Ms. Hopps, I believe it is time for you to leave as well. Looking at your records, I'd say you should go back to your family."

"But, I-I can't bring N-Nick there." She started to tear up.

"You grew up there, right? So of they trust you, then they can trust him."

"Err, what?"

"I don't know, there is special transport to get both of you to your family's home."

"M-my warren?"

"Yeah." He smiled warmly. "It's downstairs, if I find anything, I will tell you, okay?" Judy nodded. "Oh by the way, before I forget, Nick might have issues when he leaves that state, some could involve memory or other things."

"That's okay. He is a good mammal, he will know what to do." She looked into his eyes. "Yeah, I trust him to make the right decisions."

"Then all will be fine, right?"

"Does that mean he will forget me as well?"

"I think so. I'm sorry."

Judy patted the fox she was concealed in. He then stood up slowly and delicately, revealing the rabbit that hid inside. She then started to climb up, as he started to lower his body. "One more thing Judy. Who is Jake? I won't tell."

"M-my temp partner." Then the two left. Growly smiled at that news. He then nodded to himself lightly. James opened his drawer and looked at the image inside. His smile quickly crumbled and his eyes started to water up. A couple tears rolled down his tears and landed in the middle of the image. He shut the drawer and started to breathe slowly to calm himself down. He then looked back at the door, "The most unlikely partnership might be the one that is needed."

Nick headed to the front door and saw a heavily armoured vehicle. He looked around and slowly walked towards it with Judy on his back. The driver, a pig, then looked at the two and asked, "Judy Hopps?" The rabbit in question then nodded. She headed to the back and opened it up. Inside wasn't much, but it was enough to let them rest with a modicum of comfort. "Please, it will be a long-ish ride and I am ready for it. It is late so you might want to sleep." Judy nodded again, then started rubbing her cheek against Nick's back. "Anyways time to go." The pig waited for them to enter and once they did, she closed their doors and turned on the light, which was just heavy enough to see inside the truck but light enough to allow sleep. "Good night, I guess." After a few minutes, the two laid down on the hard floor instead and Judy fell asleep encircled by her impromptu protector. Nick started to lightly lick her to clean some of the dirt that was there on her fur. The engine gave a satisfying rumble to the entire vehicle. All of these factors combined to give the rabbit a very pleasant sleep.

Nick on the other hand refused to sleep, he instead stayed up the entire time just in case. He couldn't let Judy be hurt, not on his watch. He looked around the truck and saw very little actual sources of danger. He still refused to let her be alone, or to fall asleep. Nick then quickly glanced at the sleeping rabbit, gently licking her cheek.

Judy then woke up, seeing a sleeping fox. She looked around and saw them laying in an empty field. "How did we get here?" She got up and tried to look over the tall grass. She could barely see when jumping up, but what she saw was her warren. She crept towards it and then knocked on the door. Who answered the door, was her uncle. Mentally, she got worried. "Hey, lil' Judy, well not so little anymore but, I won't forget what you looked like when you were. You will always be lil' Judy for me." He smiled. "What brings you here?"

"I... errr... I" She gulped. "I was sent here to get over a little bit of a drug that was unbeknownst to me given."

"Right, well, come on, come in." Then they heard a small shuffle in the grass, then a small yawn. That was when Nick shown up. "Ugh, another pelt. SIS, GET THE SHOTGUN, WE HAVE ANOTHER ONE." That was when Bonnie ran downstairs with a shotgun in paw. She then given it to the elder rabbit. He pointed it at the fox, then pulled the trigger.

Judy woke up again, launching her body forward. Nick reacted by lifting his head and looking at her. "I-I had a bad dream." He pushed his head towards her and placed his eyes besides hers. Judy then proceeded to hug him, unable to resist the urge to do so. She started to cry as she held the fox in her paws. "Hmm, how long was I sleeping?" As she said that, the truck stopped. The pig then audibly jumped out of her seat and headed towards the back door.

Nick stood up gently, letting the sleeping mammal get up as well. She did a light jog on the spot. "Well, at least I'm refreshed now." She smiled. Her smile shattered as soon as she heard the door crank open. She jumped to the floor and slid to the back. Nick then stood between the door and the bunny. It was the pig from that opened the door.

"We're here, at your old house."

"How did you know..."

"We were told by a couple of quite err.. insistent individuals"

"My parents."

"Probably."

Judy rolled her eyes. The two then jumped out of the truck. "I wish you a well recovery."

"Th-thank you." The two then walked away. Judy stopped a good distance away, where she knew that Nick wouldn't be seen from the front door. "Nick, I know this is hard, for both of us, but, can you wait here for a bit until I call you? Please?" Nick then sat down and waited. Judy nodded then ran off to the door. She felt exposed here, as if anything could happen at any moment.

She reached the door and knocked. There her father opened the door. "Hey, Judy, Jude the Dude. Why are you here and why didn't you call for the last couple of days?" She instantly lunged forward , hugged her father and broke down in tears.

"It was terrible. It still is." Stu returned the hug then sighed. Bonnie then ran down after hearing the loud sobs.

"Judy what happened?"

"I-I was captured and then taken into some unknown area. From there, we were kept in cages." She paused to breathe, her voice started to be more shaky. "Then we were given food that were filled with drugs that make us extremely scared. Then, we were thrown into a pit where the role of the prey was to escape but the role of the predator was to- to."

"Oh no. How did you survive?" Judy then paused and calmed down.

"About that."A younger rabbit ran downstairs.

"Dad, there is a fox in the blueberry field. I think he is stealing them."

"Ugh, I told Gideon that if he wants them then he can just ask, we will deal with money later."

"I-It's not Gideon." Stu then stared at his grandson. "He was much slimmer." Stu then turned to Judy. He raised an eyebrow.

Judy then took a step back, while mentally kicking herself for forgetting Nick's love of blueberries. She then smiled awkwardly. "I'll deal with it." She turned around then called out. "NICK! COME HERE!"

All of a sudden, the fox sprinted over to her position and stopped right at her feet. His mouth was covered in blueberries. "Nick, you can't just eat blueberries without permission." He then whimpered and then licked his lips to remove the blueberry stains.

"What's wrong with him?" Bonnie asked.

Judy then froze for a second. She cleared her throat. "He is errm, Nicholas Wilde."

"We gathered that, but you said he was quite articulate."

"He is, was, I-I don't know. He is currently errm, s-savage." She stated the last word so weakly they barely heard her.

"Could you repeat yourself, dear?"

"He is savage, kind of." The two heard that and instantly got scared. They were about to slam the door shut but Judy reacted fast enough to stop them. "Okay, I know what it looks like but it isn't that bad."

A/N: I'll be honest, I couldn't wait for the next chapter. I just wanted to see what would happen if a feral Nick would react in a warren of bunnies. Expect the unexpected next time.

With that being said, I'm happy to see Judy back and well, I think it will be an interesting dynamic of not only the two polar opposites that are Nick and Judy but also just Judy's own personality, clashing against itself. Well, we'll see what will happen.

With that I will wish you all a good one, and see you all later.
