Chapter One: A New Dog
"Come on you two. Lunch is ready!" A woman shouts from nearby as Alexis is playing with a human 12 year old boy.
"Aww mom. Do we have to. Alexis and I were playing." The boy says disappointed.
"Afraid so. Lunch will get cold if you don't hurry up Jake. I made your favorite. Steak burgers." The woman says as she smiles and holds up a plate with a burger.
"As much as those burgers smell good I'm not hungry. Please don't make me go inside." Alexis says as she doesn't follow Jake to the house.
"Steak burgers? Alright! Huh what's wrong girl?" Jake asks as he goes to walk over to the woman before stopping as he sees Alexis whining and whimpering and prancing slightly while looking back at the woods and then at Jake expectantly.
"I wanna play and explore on my own. Cassie please recognize me wanting to explore instead of making me sit down for lunch. You do better at that than Jake does." Alexis says a she barks slightly at Jake and wags her tail trying to show she wants to explore the area.
"Maybe she isn't hungry son. Why not let her play on her own for a bit?" Cassie asks as Alexis barks happily.
"Yes! Cassie for the win!" Alexis says happily.
"Alright mom." Jake says.
"Yes! Thank goodness for adult interaction." Alexis says happily as she takes off running down the sidewalk.
*Timeskip*
"Oh so many places to check out. I don't know where I want to go first." Alexis says before she hears dog growling on the other side of a fence.
"Get out of here squirrels! And stay out!" A female voice shouts as Alexis chuckles at the voice.
"Huh? Is there someone over there?" The voice asks as Alexis hears someone come closer to the fence.
"Uh yeah. Sorry. I just heard you barking at some squirrels." Alexis says a she goes closer to the fence.
"Yeah. My human doesn't like them in her yard so I chase them out. Who are you?" The voice asks.
"Alexis." Alexis says kindly.
"Alexis? I've not heard that name before. Are you new around here?" The voice asks.
"Yeah. My family just moved here two weeks ago across the street." Alexis says.
"Across the street? Yes! A new dog to finally talk to." The voice says excitedly as Alexis chuckles.
"You barely know me." Alexis says as she smiles.
"So?" The voice asks.
"So you're not afraid to talk to me?" Alexis asks in surprise.
"Why would I be afraid? You're another dog." The voice says.
"Some dogs just get startled by my appearance. Mostly females. Males tend to go gaga though. But that's always how it is with males." Alexis says.
"Never thinking with their brains am I right?" The voice asks as she and Alexis laugh.
"Totally." Alexis says as she smiles.
"Well you seem nice. My name is Elsa. Would you like to come inside my fence? I got some toys. We can play for a while if you want." The voice says kindly.
"Um sure. How though?" Alexis asks curiously.
"Oh there's a board over by the tree that's loose. You can come right through it. Just nudge it with your snout." Elsa says.
"No need. I see a trash can." Alexis says as she sees a trash can and goes over to it.
"Trash can? What are you gonna do?" Elsa asks curiously.
"You'll see." Alexis says before she jumps into the trash can and jumps over the fence to beside an orange corgi in the yard.
"Whoa! You just jumped right over the fence. Wow you are big. You're not as big as my friend Honey but still. I wasn't expecting you to be a husky. Not that you look bad. I mean I like the way you look. Sorry am I talking to much?" Elsa asks as Alexis smiles kindly at her.
"Not at all. You're not the first person to be taken back by my appearance so you're good." Alexis says kindly.
"Well I like your appearance." Elsa says as she smiles and wags her tail.
"I like yours too Elsa." Alexis says happily as she smiles.
"Thanks. So um do you wanna play tug o war with my rope or play catch? I got plenty of balls we could toss around." Elsa says as she gestures to some toys on the ground nearby.
"Sure. I'd like that. Whatever you want to do." Alexis says as she wags her tail.
"Whatever I want to do?" Elsa asks in surprise.
"Yeah. I mean I am the guest in your yard and I'm new around. I want to do whatever you want to do." Alexis says as she smiles.
"No one ever really wants to do what I want. Are you sure you don't wanna play with anything in specific?" Elsa asks in surprise.
"Nope. I wanna play with whatever you decide." Alexis says happily.
"Alright. Balls?" Elsa asks as she smiles.
"Balls." Alexis says happily as she and Elsa begin playing together happily.
*Timeskip*
"I'm gonna get you!" Elsa shouts as she is chasing Alexis around the yard happily.
"Gotta catch me first!" Alexis says happily before she stops as Elsa tackles her to the ground as the two laugh happily.
"Elsa! Come on girl!" A female voice shouts from inside the house.
"That's my owner. I should get back inside." Elsa says as she gets off Alexis.
"Alexis! Where are you!?" Jake shouts from nearby.
"And there's my owner Jake. I got to get going too. But it was nice meeting you Elsa. Hopefully we can hang out again soon." Alexis says as she begins to head toward the loose board in the fence.
"Hey wait." Elsa says.
"Yeah?" Alexis asks as she stops and looks at Elsa.
"I got to this therapy group friend Honey runs." Elsa says.
"Group?" Alexis asks curiously.
"Yeah. You'd like it. She talks about our traumas, problems and feelings. It would give us a chance to hang out more and you can meet others I'm friends with." Elsa says happily as she smiles.
"That does sound kinda nice. I've never really had friends before since I mostly hang around my boy Jake and his mother Cassie." Alexis says shyly.
"Well this will be a perfect way to welcome you to the neighborhood." Elsa says as she wags her tail.
"Alright. Sure. Sounds fun." Alexis says.
"Great. I'll see you then." Elsa says.
"See ya then Elsa." Alexis says happily as she leaves.

Life story: Alexis was born in the mountains with her mother and her father. She is the only one of her litter. Her parents and pack both were killed when she was 3 by another wolf and his pack. Thanks to her mother she survived the slaughter and was raised by her adoptive family.
