Glacier soared effortlessly through the air, her royal guards following closely behind her. Despite being in the safety of the Ice Kingdom, she knew it was necessary to remain cautious due to the ongoing war that had recently begun. With a tired sigh, she ran a single finger across her brow, feeling the weight of responsibility resting heavily upon her shoulders.

She had already visited the Diamond hatchery six times this month, which was not considered a very regal behaviour as it meant pushing meetings and other responsibilities aside. She knew that others looked down upon her for this, but she couldn't help worrying about her first egg. Her mind was constantly preoccupied with thoughts about it.

Although she never showed it, her mind was preoccupied with thoughts of the well-being of the egg and the potential consequences of losing it. Under her tough exterior, she had heard rumours flying around the palace that she was extremely paranoid about the safety of her unborn hatchling. She had gone to great lengths to provide triple the usual security measures both outside and inside the Diamond caves to ensure the egg's protection.

"We have arrived, Your Majesty," one of the royal guards said as he caught up with her, this caused her to snap out of her thoughts, seeing that they had indeed arrived. feeling anxiety grip her, Glacier landed rather rough, not like her usual graceful landing to which she would have done so if not for her fear of her egg.

"Your maje~" One of the three guards stationed at the cave's entrance was cut off when Glacier sped past him, leaving the three fourth circle dragons lost for words.

In the dim light of the royal hatchery, Glacier had ordered that no fewer than five guards were to be positioned around her egg at all times while two fifth circle dragonesses were always assigned to tend to the egg whenever Glacier wasn't able to tend to her egg

The guards sprang into defensive stances when the sound of talons against the icy floor was heard, Icestroke slowly moved towards the entrance to the hatchery chamber, spear in forepaws while his tail lashed behind him.

"Be careful Icestroke!" Shush, who was also a fourth circle guard hissed, she held her spear tightly as the talon steps came closer. Icestroke was about to lunge when Queen Glacier came around the corner, finding a spear close to her face, and a rather flushed guard.

"Y-y-your majesty, please accept my sincere apologies" Icestroke instantly bowed to Glacier, her glare on him feeling like icicles puncturing through his very soul, making him shiver slightly while Glacier moved past him, her right wing dragging over him when suddenly, she stopped, a gasp leaving her.

In the royal nest, there was a little male hatchling covered in what was left of the egg membrane, with broken parts of the egg scattered around him. Glacier, his mother, noticed he was larger than the typical Icewing hatchling. She rushed over to him, pushing past the fifth circle dragonesses.

She laid on her side and curled around her tiny Icewing, nuzzling his body. The hatchling's eyes were blue like sapphires, and his body was silvery white with grey-blue freckles on his snout and neck. Glacier found him adorable and chuckled when he rose onto his hind paws and placed his tiny forepaws on her snout, letting out an adorable squawk.

She whispered to her son, "Hello little one, welcome to the world." She let him clamber over her, even allowing him to nom on one of her horns, which made her laugh. It was fortunate that he had no teeth yet.

"You ready to see the kingdom?" She asked her son, who in return looked at her with a tilted head, blinking before letting out an excited squawk, jumping up and down on top of her, his tiny wings flaring around as he spun around in circles.

Being careful to not knock her son off her back, Queen Glacier got up onto her paws, making her way out from the hatchery, her talons clicking against the smooth icy floor as she made her way towards the entrance of the diamond caves.

Upon exiting the caves, she found that a gentle snowfall had started, giving her an idea for a name. Looking back at her son, she thought for a few seconds before announcing the name. "I think I'll call you Snowheart, we will see if your father likes it first" Some of the royal guards gave each other confused looks, one of them even whispering to his fellow guard. "Isn't that a feminine name?" To which he got a glare from Glacier.

"That it is not, It can be used for either male or female. Now stop putting your snout in my business or I will send you to the fifth circle" This made the guards shrink back from her, the one who had commented bowed to her. "M-my apologies your majesty, it will not happen again"

"It better not" She let out a snort of frost breath while making her way past the guards, carrying her son at the same time, the little dragon staring up at his mother with large wide eyes.

Glacier spread her wings and took flight, flanked by her guards, as they headed towards the Icewing palace. The snowfall had intensified, indicating an impending blizzard. Glacier ordered everyone, including the commoners, to take shelter in their homes. Unlike the previous queens, Glacier had a genuine concern for her subjects, as her mother had taught her to be a caring ruler who looked after the welfare of her people.

As they landed near the palace entrance, Glacier held her son tightly, trying to protect him from the fierce blizzard that had just hit the area. The winds were so strong that all the Icewings had taken shelter in their buildings. One of the members of Glacier's council yelled over the howling winds, "Your Majesty, this is the strongest storm we have ever recorded!"

Glacier had to squint her eyes to see him properly, the snow slapping against her scales as she made her way into the safety of the palace, countless talon clicks echoed around the giant ballroom, Snowheart squirming slightly within his mother's grip while she carried her little Snowheart towards her bedroom, that was until a masculine voice came from behind her.

"Glacier! By the moons I was worried for you dear, And who is this little one?" Glacier's husband, King Frostbite looked at Snowheart, reaching out with a forepaw, to which Snowheart gripped a single talon with his tiny paws.

"Frostbite, this is your son, Snowheart" Hearing this Frostbite's eyes widened in delight, he gently took his son from his wife's grip, lifting the tiny Icewing above his head, a large smile appearing on Frostbite's snout as a single tear fell from his eye.

"He's beautiful, I love the name you gave him! He will grow up to become a handsome Icewing prince!"

Glacier looked on with happiness, a genuine smile permanently on her snout as she felt joy bubble within her while watching her husband play with their son, gently throwing him in the air, being careful not to harm the little Icewing in any way.

She, along with her husband and son continued on their way to their royal bedroom, the little dragonet squealing with delight as he climbered on top of his father, running up and down his back, a few Icewing nobles stared at the newborn, frowns appearing on their faces when one of them, a male Icewing, mumbled something.

Frostbite stopped in his tracks after hearing something, Glacier took their son off his back before continuing on her way down the hall towards their bedroom. He demanded to know what was said, blocking the nobles from passing him and staring down at the smaller noble who had mumbled something. Glacier had stopped down the hallway, watching with amusement before disappearing into the bedroom.

"You're already on thin ice for all the trouble you have caused Iceclaw," Frostbite warned the noble. Iceclaw's face turned sour and he let out an irritated huff.

"Now, what was the remark you made?" Frostbite asked, waiting for Iceclaw to speak. Though he appeared reluctant to respond. This only irritated the Icewing king, who lowered his head slightly since he was a few heads taller than Iceclaw, he hissed in Iceclaw's ear, clicking his tongue while he gave him a warning that shook the smaller Icewing to his very soul. "You ever speak of my son like that again, and I'll have your head on a stake out in the cold"

"Y-yes your m-majesty" Iceclaw stuttered while bowing to the king, trembling slightly while Frostbite smirked, seeing Iceclaw's smugness and snootiness melt away in an instant. "Now get lost before I exile you!" Iceclaw, in a rather clumsy manner, scurried off, his claws scraping against the icy floor while Frostbite let the other nobles pass, all of whom had terrified expressions as well.

By the time King Frostbite opened the large double doors to his and Glacier's royal bedroom, the first thing he was greeted with was Glacier lying in the middle of the rather large room, playing with Snowheart who ran around his mother, climbing on top of her, and chasing her tail, which she was extremely careful with, since Icewing tails were known to be extremely sharp at their tips, where they had their spikes. when she looked up, her eyes lit up when she saw her husband enter the room.

"I see the little one is very playful!" Frostbite chuckled as he made his way over to his wife and son, kissing Glacier on the lips before lowering his snout to nuzzle his son, who let out an adorable squark, which made both his parents laugh in happiness.

"I do wish to have three more dragonets Frostbite, hopefully daughters" She looked up at her husband, who was only about a head taller than her, lying down beside his wife, he curled around the two of them, letting his son clamber over him, slipping down between his mother and father before curling up to rest, letting out a cute yawn before curling up into a ball.

"Glacier looked out one of the windows, the blizzard was now at full force, and night had rolled around, meaning it was late at night. "It seems we lost track of time, my love, shall we retire for the night?" Glacier asked her husband, feeling him slide a claw under her chin, making her look at him, love radiating from his eyes when she stared deeply into them. "Of course my love, after all, someone has to keep an eye on him, and I don't trust anyone at the moment to look after Our prince" He growled the last part out softly, Glacier placing a forepaw upon his as to calm him down.

"Relax my love, our most trusted dragonet-sitters were appointed by me, I know all of them" She nuzzled into the crook of his neck, purring softly, laying her head down next to her son as the new family drifted to sleep.
