Hi everyone. This is my first MLP fanfic. This story will feature an OC. Hope you enjoy this first chapter.
Chapter 1 – Prologue
Life can be rough when you have an inner passion for something, yet the world shuns you for it. This has been the case for many ponies, but none of them have it as different as Alto Eclipse, a young unicorn.
For as long as he could remember, Alto loved music more than anything. Upon watching singing on a stage as a colt, he knew he wanted to be a singer. He would spend time in his room at Canterlot Castle, reading books about music theory and practicing his singing. After gaining knowledge of different music genres, he settled on funk as it truly resonated with his heart and soul.
One day, Alto decided he would get out there and share his musical talents with the Canterlot ponies. Unfortunately, due to their uptight and sophisticated attitudes, they verbally rebuked him for not only his music tastes, but also the fact that he was under the care of someone with high prestige – namely Princess Celestia. Feeling utterly dejected, he went back to his room and looked at himself in the mirror.
Alto was a dark teal unicorn with a dark brown mane and tail. In spite of what he knew how to do, he had yet to obtain his cutie mark.
He had a thought: if those Canterlot ponies wouldn't appreciate his music, then he knew somepony that would. He visited Princess Celestia in her throne room and told her what he just went through. She then asked if Alto could sing for her, and he agreed to her request. At the end of the song, the Princess applauded him and told him he had a special gift that could make a difference in Equestria. This took Alto by surprise; it was the first time anypony ever told him that.
He then made a vow that he would use his talent to bring unity and love throughout all of Equestria. Upon making this claim, a cutie mark appeared on his flank. It was a microphone under a spotlight with golden hearts.
Princess Celestia decided to have Alto enrolled in her School for Gifted Unicorns. He accepted her offer and just barely passed his entrance exam. Just as it seemed things were looking up for Alto, many of the other students made a pursuit of verbally putting him down for the same reasons the upper class Canterlot ponies did. He would spend years enduring that abuse as he studied magic, and because of that, he became rather quiet and demure to everyone except the Princess.
Little did he know that life had a way of turning things around...
And that concludes my intro. I'm not too good at originality, so I hope I made a good first impression. The next chapter will be where things really kick off. Till then, adios pony pals!
