In the morning, Nightback wakes up and jumps on Seajumper, "Nightback, cut it out," Seajumper complained as he pushed Nightback off of him. Taking his blanket he hid his helm under it as he tried to go back to sleep.
"Aw come on, Seajumper. Don't be a spoilsport."
"The sun is still rising, and it's your fault for making me stay up when Mom said it was time for bed."
"Yeah, maybe we shouldn't have stayed up so late."
"I don't see how Emberwing can get up this early," the young mech yawned as he took off the covers and stretched.
"Just the way she is."
A knock came at the front door and the boys ran out to see who it was. Wheeljack opens the door and they see Bumblebee standing there, "Wheeljack, where is Nightback?"
"Morning, Dad. Good morning, Bumblebee," Seajumper greeted.
"Hello, Bumblebee. How are you?"
"Sorry, good morning to you all. I'm here to see Nightback."
"Am I in trouble?"
"Not at all, I just came to let you know your parents are in Med Bay. Your mom got really sick last night."
"Is Mom okay?" He asked in worry.
"She is now, she just needs to rest."
"Can I see her and Dad?"
"Of course, that's why I came to get you."
"Can I come back later?" Nightback asked Wheeljack.
"Of course," Wheeljack replied with a smile
"Thank you, sir," Nightback said as he left with Bumblebee.
Bumblebee and Nightback arrive at Med Bay and find Steeljaw and Strongarm still asleep. Nightback crawls onto the berth and wakes them up. Steeljaw, of course, wakes up growling, "What do you wa-!? Oh, morning son."
Nightback flinched when his father growled, "M-morning."
"Don't mind your dad, he never liked being woken up early in the morning."
"I'm sorry. Are you feeling better Mom?"
"Yes, I am," she replied with a smile.
"Sorry for growling at you, son. As your mom said I never liked being woken up early in the morning. Also, I'm a bit on edge right now."
"It's okay. Why are you on edge?"
"You're too young to know. I'll tell you about it when you're older."
"All of you keep saying that. How old do we have to be when you tell us?"
Steeljaw chuckled, "Older than you are now."
Nightback whined as he laid his helm on his mom's stomach. They both looked down at him and smiled, "Did you have fun with Seajumper last night?" Strongarm asked.
"Yep, I told Wheeljack that I would be back later. Do you need anything? I can get some Energon for you," Nightback asked wanting to help his parents to feel better.
"Some Energon would be nice," Strongarm replied with a loving smile.
"I'll be right back," he took off to get the Energon.
The two smiled as they watched their son leave, "He's a good kid," Steeljaw said breaking the silence.
"Yes, he is. Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Strongarm caressed his cheek, "Were you like that at his age?"
"What, caring?"
"I was thinking more of full of energy this early in the morning," she chuckled.
"I was, actually," he chuckled.
"So was I," she chuckled with a yawn, "I'm still tired though."
"Well, wait until Nightback gets back with the Energon so you can drink some," he said before he kissed her, just as Nightback walked in.
"Why do you guys do that? It's gross," Nightback stated as he put the Energon on the berth.
The two break the kiss to look at their son and laugh, "You'll understand when you're older," Steeljaw told him as he grabbed the cube and gave it to Strongarm.
"I feel like you're going to say that a lot," he huffed as he crossed his arms.
"Just telling the truth."
Nightback laughed, "Can I go see Seajumper?"
"Yes, you can. Your mom needs to go back to sleep anyway."
"OK. Love you, Mom. I hope you feel better soon. Bye, Dad." He left to head back to see his friend.
"Did you have a close friend when you were young?" Strongarm asked.
"Yes, Voltstrike. I was friends with him before I was friends with his siblings, we were practically inseparable. That's why I'm closer to him than the others. I was a child when I promised Quickshadow I would be her mate. When I found out what she had done I wanted nothing to do with her."
"Oh, it was a childhood promise."
"Yes, she was crying one day and she asked me when we got older if I would be her mate. I wanted her to stop crying so I said yes. I didn't get to know Saborfang and Razorclaw that well. I kind of left them behind when I started living with Shockwave and I just forgot about the promise."
"When did you see Quickshadow again?"
"About three days before she killed that femme. It was kind of like when we were kids, only we had all changed. I was about 15-16 in human years."
"What did you two do when you reunited?"
"We mostly hung out and did stuff that was against the law."
"Of course you did. Did you two ever make out?"
"No, the only thing that happened was that she would nuzzle me on my neck. I had forgotten our promise from when we were kids."
"And then she did what you told me and you left her. And after you left her you decided to not be in a relationship with any femme so you became what the humans would call a player and just messed around with the femmes and toyed with them and their sparks with no intent on ever having a relationship."
"Yes," he replied as his ears folded back, "I wish I could apologize to them for hurting them as I did. How can you love someone like me, even after the things I've done?"
"The words of Optimus Prime that Bumblebee would often tell me kept playing in my processor."
"What's that?"
"That all beings have the will to change if given the chance no matter how bad their deeds are, even the great warlord Megatron had changed which means any Cybertronian can, even you. But the sweet talk and all those things you were saying did help," she replied with a smile.
"How so?"
"Not sure, just flattered me. Actually, you kind of had me hooked when we first met, I was just hiding it and pushed it aside. I had it all pushed aside until you came out with that line at the end of our last fight."
Steeljaw chuckled as he pulled her into a hug, "I love you, Cadet," he said as he nuzzled her helm.
She giggled as she took one more sip of the Energon, she then handed the cube to him, "Here, you need some as well."
"Thank you. What do you say we take this back to our room?"
"Ratchet hasn't cleared me yet."
"Guess we'll have to wait," he said as he took a sip of Energon.
"Have to wait for what?" Ratchet asked walking into the room.
"To finish what we started last night," he replied with a smirk.
"Oh, yes you will have to wait as Strongarm needs to rest right now, and you need to be sure all the poison has been washed off. She is cleared to leave, however, if you wish to go back to your quarters."
"Alright," Steeljaw tossed the empty cube in the waste bin before helping Strongarm to her feet.
They leave Med Bay and walk to their quarters. Along the way, they were greeted by Magnus, "Strongarm, I just heard what happened. Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm okay. I just need to rest," she reassured her father.
"What a relief," Magnus says as he hugs her.
"Sorry for worrying you," she said as she hugged him back.
He pulled back, "Just don't do it again." He looked at Steeljaw, "Thank you for taking care of her, though I say it's partly your fault."
"Yes, sir. It won't happen again."
"It better not, I'll tear up your hide if it does," Magnus says as he walks off.
Steeljaw sees Thunderhoof leaving, "Where's he going?"
Strongarm looks at Thunderhoof leaving, "Not sure. Help me back to our quarters then you can go talk to him."
"Alright," he said as he led her to their quarters, passing Emberwing.
"Good Morning, Strongarm, Steeljaw. Papa said I can play with Nightback today," she greeted.
"Good morning, Emberwing. Nightback is at Seajumper's place."
"Thank you, I'll see you later." She bowed before running off to see her friends.
Steeljaw walked Strongarm inside their quarters and laid her on the berth, "Rest, I'll be back in a bit."
"OK."
Steeljaw walks out to catch up to Thunderhoof while Strongarm slips back into recharge.
