When nighttime fell, Soundwave had everything set up for the movie night. Emberwing kept glancing at her parents, they weren't talking to each other and they sat with a bit of space between them. Hopefully, the movie could distract her.
Strongarm comes out holding onto Steeljaw's arm and everyone else comes as well. Once everyone had seated the movie started. Hearing the familiar music, Emberwing bounced with excitement. Razorclaw tilted his helm in confusion, "What are we doing?" He whispered to Soundwave.
The silent mech put a digit to his visor in a shushing motion before pointing to the screen. They all watched the movie with interest. Optimus and Megatron were intrigued by the rivalry between Mufasa and Scar, "It kind of reminds me of us," Megatron whispered to the red and blue mech.
"Yes, it does," Optimus whispered back. They both watch in shock as Scar throws Mufasa off the side of the cliff killing him.
The kids let out a gasp when they saw the king fall to his death, "Mom, I don't like this movie," Seajumper said quietly.
"Don't worry it gets better."
"You sure?"
Emberwing shushed Seajumper and they continued watching the movie. Steeljaw watched with interest as Simba and Nala reunited and the love song started playing, "Where have I heard that before?" He whispered to himself.
"Metalsound," Strongarm whispered to him. She was sitting between his legs leaning against his body so she could hear anything he said.
"That's right," Steeljaw whispered back.
The kids made gross faces when they saw Nala and Simba lovingly rubbing against each other. Metalsound chuckled quietly at the kids before looking at the screen in sadness. She misses Thunderhoof, and she hopes that he will forgive her one day.
Thunderhoof was feeling sad as well not being able to hold and cherish his mate. He wants to forgive her but he can't get that scene in the cave out of his processor.
They all watched in awe as the scene of Scar and Simba fighting played. The boys started cheering for the younger lion, even Sideswipe and Grimlock were cheering. They were all quickly told to be quiet by their mothers and mate. The kids covered their optics at the scene when the hyenas jumped on Scar to kill him.
"Can we look now?" Nightback whimpered.
"Yes, you can look now," his mother replied. They all uncover their optics in time to see Simba walking up the rock to take his place as king. They started cheering when Simba let out a roar followed by the other lions. The boys and Emberwing tried to roar with them and the adults all laughed at their attempt. The movie ended and everyone clapped and cheered.
"I love that movie," Emberwing said with a yawn.
"Time for you kids to go to bed."
"Aww, but Mom I'm not," Seajumper yawned, "I'm not sleepy yet."
"Yes, you are." The moms take the kids in to lie down then come back out.
"Our turn," says Bumblebee anxious to watch Romeo and Juliet.
"You're not the only one excited for this, Lieutenant," Steeljaw chuckled.
"What movie is it?" Strongarm asked as she was returning and sat back down in her spot between Steeljaw's legs.
"Something called Romeo and Juliet," Sideswipe replied looking at the title screen.
"Romeo and Juliet. Isn't that the story that Metalsound compared us to?" She asked looking at Steeljaw.
"Yes, she told me it was a good story," he replied.
"Can't wait to see it then."
The movie starts with a lady on a TV saying the first lines that begin the play, the guys are instantly pulled in when the shooting starts, one side trying to kill off the other and a gas station blowing up. "Whoa, nice action scene," Wheeljack says quietly in amazement.
"Of course you would think so," Arcee says to him teasingly.
They continue watching the movie, they get to the scene where Mercutio dresses up like a woman for the party they're all going to, "Why is a man dressing up like a woman?" Optimus asked in confusion.
"Humans have some strange customs," Steeljaw whispered feeling disgusted by the sight. Razorclaw shifted uncomfortably. Humans were odd.
They later get to the scene where Romeo first sees Juliet in the bathroom and runs after her to try and talk to her, watching her dance with another man before pulling her aside to sweet-talk her and have a little dance of his own with her. The femmes all gushed at the sweet words he spoke to her.
"I have no idea what they're saying," Megatron whispered to Optimus.
"Neither do I, but it must be something sweet for the femmes to be acting like that," Optimus whispers back.
"Indeed," he whispered as his index finger wrapped around Optimus'.
The scene soon comes where Romeo and Juliet find out that they have fallen in love with their enemy and Steeljaw watches in amusement, "Metalsound is right, our story is like theirs," he whispers to Strongarm.
"Yes, it is," she whispered before looking over at Metalsound and Thunderhoof. She notices how they're sitting apart from each other and her spark goes out to them. Looking back at the screen she can't help but smile when Romeo and Juliet fall into the pool. She giggled as Romeo continued romancing Juliet.
"I thought there was going to be some action in this," Sideswipe whispered to Windblade.
"There is, but there's also some romance," Windblade whispered back to him.
"So it has a little bit of everything for all of us. That's good."
They watched on as they came to the scene where Romeo and Juliet got married. Metalsound whined softly as Romeo's best friend died, and Romeo got banished for killing his cousin-in-law.
"At least I never did that," Steeljaw whispered.
"Yeah," Strongarm whispered as she watched the heartbroken Juliet threaten to kill herself because her parents were forcing her to marry another man, "At least I never did that."
Steeljaw's optics widened as he tightened his grip on her, "Yes, thankfully."
As the movie progressed they found the heartbroken Romeo in the church weeping for his love. He had gotten a vial of poison beforehand thinking Juliet was dead but she wasn't. "She's not dead, she's only asleep," Strongarm whispered.
They watch as Juliet wakes up in time to see Romeo drink the poison, and then cry over his body after he dies. Everyone watched on with tension when she saw the gun. Sideswipe kept whispering, "Please don't," over and over again. All the femmes and a few of the mechs were crying at this point.
Steeljaw tightened his grip on Strongarm even more, holding her close, feeling relieved that that wasn't their outcome. They all watched in horror as Juliet picked up the gun, put it to her head, and pulled the trigger. Strongarm held Steeljaw close as lubricant rolled down her faceplate while they show the camera pulling back fixated on the couple laying next to each other, dead, and the scenes of them how they were beforehand flashed across the screen. "I'm so happy that wasn't our outcome," she whispers to Steeljaw with a bit of a sob.
Steeljaw tightened his hold on her as he nuzzled the back of her neck, "So am I."
"Why would anyone make something this sad?" Grimlock sobbed as he hugged Bumblebee.
They all watched on with broken sparks as the parents cried and sobbed over the death of their children. Ultra Magnus had moved closer to Strongarm and Steeljaw, pulling them both into a hug. He was thankful they were both still alive. The two look at him in surprise but settle into the hug.
The movie ended but nobody moved, all were still saddened and in shock by what they just watched, "Who picked this movie?" Sideswipe asked trying to keep the lubricant from escaping his optics.
"I did, I didn't know it was so sad," Fixit said with a sob.
Metalsound yawned as she stretched before getting up to head to bed, "For never was a story of more woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo," she said before leaving for her quarters.
"I love you both but there's only so much my armor can take, you two are gonna need to loosen up some," Strongarm says feeling constricted by her father and her mate.
"Oh, sorry," Steeljaw blushed a little before he and Ultra Magnus released her.
"I think it's time we all head to bed," Bumblebee said as he managed to get out of Grimlock's grip.
"Yes, I agree," Optimus says and they all get up to head to their quarters and go to bed.
Steeljaw held Strongarm close as they lay in their berth, "That was a nice romance story, really was just like ours, but a sad ending."
"I agree."
"I'm so happy we didn't do any of the stuff as they did around the end and that ours ended more happily," he says nuzzling his face into her helm.
"I am too," she said quietly as she turned to kiss him.
