Chapter 11

September 5, 2007| Downtown Jump City| 7:45 P.M.

As I cut off the conversation with Jinx, we left Titans Tower to help out the team. On our way there. I started to feel like something was bothering me. It wasn't that I wanted to devirginize myself already. I just felt that the moment was right. Not to sound cliche, but I felt like Jinx was the one. She finally could turn her life around and I could take the next step in our relationship. For the first time in a long time, I was making the right decision with Jinx. I wanted to hold off my full feelings for Jinx in fear of moving too fast and scaring her away.

As we arrived downtown, Jinx and I came at a full stop in front of the Titans and glanced over to no other..

"Oh you have got to be kidding me." Jinx scoffed.

A trail of ice shot from the distance and an inch away from hitting me in the head. I swiftly moved to avoid it. Once I turned around, my eyes spotted opaque glasses with an overall shaggy appearance from afar.

"You know this guy?" Beast Boy looked towards Jinx in a curious and unsure expression.

"Unfortunately yes, long story though." Jinx rolled her eyes with her arms crossed. She snapped back as a trail of ice almost hits her.

"Looks like we're going to have to make it short. Titans Go!" Robin ordered and pointed towards the distance. And off we go trying to catch Kid Kold.

I sped in front of Kid Kold and ran in zigzags to create a distraction so Starfire and Raven could catch up. Starfire flew over to the left side and threw her green illuminated starbolt at him. As soon as it went flying he used his ice gun to shoot at her starbolt which froze it and created a ice ball meteor shower that imploded which snapped back to swing towards Starfire's direction. Starfire didn't react fast enough and it struck her causing her to fall from the sky and slamming into the hood of a red delivery truck.

Raven came by in the middle of the ground and yelled her signature phrase, "Azarath Metrion Zin-Ahhh" Kid Kold shot and froze Raven into an ice cubicle entrapping her. He turned his stance towards me and shot at the ground and ice struck my foot. I ended up falling flat on my face. Robin came in swinging in with his grapple gadget and out of nowhere a shard of ice cut the cord and Robin lost his stance and fell.

"Looks like Kold brought a friend." Cyborg informed while hastily looking out from every direction. Cyborg and Beast Boy looked up to find a blond ponytail chasing after them with her ice slide. They fanned out and ran in opposite directions to distract her. I focused my attention back on Jinx, but she was nowhere to be found. I ran around until I sped across and found her. Jinx was battling with Leo preparing for a fight. I kept my distance and kept a close eye. I know Jinx could handle this on her own.

"You're cornered, give it up Leo." Jinx spoke with ease while backing him up against a brick building with her pink illuminated hands.

"And we meet again. Never thought I would see the day where you would be playing hero, Lucky. I guess I did a number on ya, huh? By the way, love the new look on you." Kid Kold taunted.

I felt my fist clenching. My blood was practically boiling when he said that to Jinx. He spoke to her as if he had something over her, if he owned her.

"You must feel proud of yourself huh?, but sadly you didn't. You know Leo, over the years you've gotten sloppy with your crimes. Not only you're a bad villain, you're bad news all around. Between the both of us, looks like you certainly hit rock bottom. Robbing a gas station that just started their first day of business, really?"

Leo scoffed and rolled his eyes. "You know that's not true. I pulled it off plenty. Besides you were practically begging for me to come back."

Jinx snorted and cackled, "Says who? Your damaged ego?And if that's so true, then you could've made it up out of here with Goldilocks already. But you didn't so we can do this the easy way or the hard way." She gave an ultimatum.

"You seriously expect me to give myself up just because we had something in the past? It was a long time ago." Leo shrugged without giving any emotion.

"Obviously, considering the facts and the shit you put me through, you pretty much owe me. Like I said we could do this the easy way or the hard way. I don't mind either." As Jinx's hands started to increase in brightness. A flying birdarang swerved and struck Kid Kold's ice gun out of his hands. With Kold distracted on his ice gun, Jinx took the initiative to lower his defense by electrocuting him. Her pink sparks started from his legs and swirled round and round until it made its way up to his face as Kid Kold finally fell to the ground.

I looked back at Robin with Cyborg, Starfire, Beast boy, and Raven standing in formation by his side. Next to Raven was Kate tied up with a net around her strongly held in place with Raven's black aura.

"Party's over Kold." Robin said while staring at him intensely. Kid Kold just sighed. The breathy reaction caused a piece of his hair that was draped over his forehead to flutter back and forth.

Soon after, policemen and police trucks showed up to collect the two icy criminals.

"We'll take it from here, thanks for your heroes' help." A female officer greeted.

We watched as Kid Kold and Kate were taken into custody, not breaking eye contact until they were securely restrained in and to be held in downtown Jump City jail for the time being.

"So you knew the guy?" Beast Boy quizzically asked.

"Wasn't it one of the rules you can't interact with your old teammates? Really doesn't look good on your first day as an ally." Raven unemotionally added.

"He wasn't a teammate, long story short. He was an ex-boyfriend. A crappy one at that." Jinx explained.

"Well whoever he was, at least we took care of it." Cyborg wrapped it up dusting off his hands.

"They won't be here for long, they're going to be transported to Star City Penitentiary." Robin explained while shutting off his communicator with his hand.

I was hoping they weren't going to grill Jinx too hard about Kid Kold. Since it was her personal business, I was kind of worried they were going to push the matter further, but thankfully they didn't.

"Alright guys I guess the job's done, let's head back." I suggested, hoping it'll change the subject.

"Kid Flash is right, let's go. Nice job today guys. We had a long day." Robin agreed.

"Booyah! How about we order a pizza to celebrate? Pizza Corner is offering a deal… Buy three boxes of pizza pie, get the fourth one free! You know I never would miss a food deal." Cyborg rubbed his stomach with enthusiasm while drooling.

Beast Boy's ears perked up as he yelled out, "Ooh! You better order a vegetarian supreme for me!"

Cyborg gave Beast Boy a disgusted glare, "Oh no we're not. Last one who reaches the pizza place has to pay for the pizzas!" He spat out as he started to jolt towards Pizza Corner.

"Hey! Not fair I wasn't ready! Come back here!" Beast Boy yelled while chasing after Cyborg.

Starfire and Jinx gave out a small laugh, Robin gave a breathy chuckle, and Raven shook her head and muttered, "Idiots."

*September 5, 2007| Titan's Tower| 8:45 P.M*

As we all filed into the living room, Cyborg pushed through us and rushed towards the kitchen counter.

"Pizza's here! Aww yea I can't wait. Let's see what we have here!" Cyborg lined the pizzas up side by side in one horizontal line and opened up the pizza boxes.

"Let's start with my ultimate favorite. The meaty meat goodness with bacon, sausage, ham, and pepperoni. Next, original cheese pizza. Then, Beast Boy's boring old mushroom and spinach pizza."

"Hey it's not boring!" Beast Boy fumed.

"Yeah yeah, whatever you say man. And last but not least. Pineapple and Ham pizza?"

The room turned quiet with confusion. "I don't remember ordering this?" Cyborg exclaimed.

I smirked and began to speak up, "I ordered it." To be honest, I would eat anything and the thought of a Hawaiian themed pizza really kicked my cravings into high gear.

"This is a crime… How could you? I ordered a pepperoni!" Cyborg was horrified.

"Hey dude, don't hate the pizza. It's not as bad, give it a try you just might like it. Have an open mind."

"Alright open mind, but I highly doubt it." Cyborg picked up a small slice and raised it to his mouth to take a huge bite. His face grimaced in disgust. "Told ya… bleh" he spoke while spitting it out in a trash can. "However the ham ain't half bad." He commented while picking off the pineapple pieces.

"I can't eat meat and I like pineapples." Beast Boy chimed in while picking off the ham pieces. Cyborg and Beast Boy gave each other a look, gave a nod, and swapped the ham and pineapples pieces with one another.

"So what do you guys think?" I looked at Robin, Raven, Starfire, and Jinx.

"It's not bad, I would eat it but it's not my go to order." Robin replied.

"Same. Would prefer a slice like Beast Boy's." Jinx agreed.

"I don't really care for it." Raven stoically answered.

"Hmm, salty and sweet with a balance of tangy goodness." Starfire chewed while continuing to squirt half a bottle of mustard onto her slice and holding her plate out. "More please."

Cyborg took the initiative to push the rest of the box towards her as she vacuumed it up.

"You should try it with ranch." Jinx suggested while smirking.

"Yo! Don't give her ideas!" Cyborg screamed out while staring at Starfire's mustard condiment beverage.

We all busted out laughing at once. We began to talk and started to feel comfortable with each other despite it being Jinx's first day. We all hung out for the next three hours from playing card games to watching a horror movie.

"Please do not go in there, I cannot look." Starfire said while hiding behind Robin.

"She's gonna go in!" Beast Boy yelled as he leaped behind the couch poking his head out behind Raven.

"She's opening it!" Cyborg screeched.

I slowly moved my hand and placed it on top of Jinx's palm. She was engrossed in the movie to notice, but gave a slight squeeze back. Suddenly, the movie ended with a loud scream that caused us all to jump. The credits rolled up with big red, bold letters that slowly spelled out "The End." Once the credits finished we all took a second to gather ourselves from the fright fest.

"Wow, what a great movie. Definitely gonna add that to my top ten must watch again." Jinx was amazed and smiled with joy.

"One of the scariest, probably not going to sleep tonight." Beast Boy turned into a small whimpering puppy and crawled under the couch.

"Alright guys, I'm going to hit the sack. I'll see you guys tomorrow for training. Remember exactly at 9 A.M." Robin reminded before walking off to bed.

"Okay, I'm hitting the hay too. See you guys tomorrow." Cyborg stretched and yawned as he walked off to his room. Beast Boy still in puppy form ran after Cyborg and morphed back into his human form.

"Have a wonderful night's rest." Starfire floated out of the main living room.

"Yeah what she said, night." Raven levitated out with a book in her hand and her eyes glued to the page.

"Night guys." "Okay." Jinx and I yelled back.

When the living room was cleared. I was contemplating whether or not to bring up what happened earlier to Jinx before we left. My brain quickly flipped the switch and decided not to make things awkward.

"See that wasn't so bad. You were enjoying yourself."

"I guess so. I thought I would have to work really hard to gain their approval. Isn't it rare l for them to come around that easily?" Jinx gave me a puzzled look.

"Yes and No, most of them would try to be welcoming at least. Most I think." I began to reflect.

Jinx looked at me and started to snort and started laughing. "By the looks of it, I could really tell."

"I know it's a big change Slowpoke, but just know I'm here for you to fall back on. If anything, I'll be your rock." I assured her.

Jinx stared at me as she held my hand and nuzzled her face into my neck. I reciprocated back and held her like there's no tomorrow. Her warmth gives a comforting feeling I haven't recognized since I was with Aunt Iris and Uncle Barry. Since we were alone with each other and I had a chance to collect my thoughts I decided to speak about the matter with Jinx.

"Hey Jinxy, about earlier-"

I was cut off when I heard a little light snore coming from my neck. I looked down and saw Jinx peacefully asleep. She looked calm. For the first time in a long time, I was in awe to see her in such a state. The world suddenly became quiet. Nothing could bother her.

I looked over at the clock to check the time. It was 12:51 A.M.

"Alright, let's get you to sleep princess." I breathed out as I picked her up bridal style out of the Titans living room and back to our room. Just as the door automatically opened, I put Jinx down on the bed and covered her with a light purple blanket. I went to the closet to change into a sporty, gray t-shirt and black sweatpants. As I finished, I laid next to Jinx and looked at her. "Goodnight Jinx." I gave her a kiss on the head before rolling over. A lot of my things were running through my mind, but overall today was a success or should I say yesterday? I felt really good about it and I know there will be many more opportunities that will come around for Jinx. As my thoughts got quieter and quieter, they began to cease and so I began to fall into a deep sleep ready to take on tomorrow.
