A loud boom of thunder woke Emberwing from her sleep. Holding her toy close she tried to go back to sleep, only for another loud rumble to keep her awake. Shaking with fear she ran to her parent's room.
"Emberwing, is the thunder scaring you?" Thunderhoof asked her after they saw her come in.
"Yes," she whispered as she walked over to the berth, "Can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Of course."
Climbing into the berth she settled herself between her mom and dad. Metalsound held her daughter close, "You know when I first came here I was scared of the thunder too. I never heard anything that loud before. But after a few storms, I got used to it."
"You did? Think I'll get used to it too?"
"Yes, I did. I think you will, it'll just take time."
"OK."
"We'll be right here, try to get back to sleep," she whispered as she rubbed her daughter's helm. The little one nods and yawns before lying down and going back to sleep. Metalsound smiled as she watched her daughter sleep.
So did Thunderhoof, "She's so adorable when she's asleep."
"Yes, she is, and so are you," Metalsound said quietly.
"But she gets it from you," he whispers back. Purring softly, she looked at him lovingly and he smiled at her.
Wheeljack and Arcee were sleeping when Seajumper came busting into the room and jumped into the berth, he got under the covers between them trying to hide. Wheeljack and Arcee bolted awake and looked to see their son trembling under their covers.
"Seajumper, what's the matter?" Arcee asked looking at the trembling sparkling.
"Th-the thunder scares me," a big boom of thunder sounded and he grabbed hold of his mom. Arcee held him close.
"It's nothing to be scared of. Thunder can't hurt you," Wheeljack said with a yawn.
"I know, but the sound still scares me."
"And that's okay, you'll get used to it. Just think of it as a human instrument, like the drums."
"OK. But can I sleep with you guys?"
"Yes," Arcee replied before Wheeljack could object, "If you'd rather stay here you can."
"Thanks, Mom."
"You're welcome," she smiled as he made himself comfortable. He then went back to sleep snuggled up against his mom.
"You know he's going to come in here every time there's a storm now, right?" Wheeljack asked.
"So let him, he's still a kid who gets scared."
"You're right," he replied quietly as a loud boom filled the room. Wheeljack let out a yelp as he ducked under the covers.
"What happened to the tough guy who isn't afraid of anything?"
"He's still there," he replied as thunder rumbled softly, "But thunder sounds too much like explosions so I can't help but act on instinct and take cover."
"That's true. I can't tell you how often I have to resist the urge to duck for cover when I hear thunder. It's scary how much it sounds like a bomb going off. But don't worry, I'll protect you," she says teasingly.
Wheeljack looked at her for a moment before he chuckled, "You can protect me any time you want," he whispered as he leaned over to give her a soft kiss. She giggled before kissing him back.
Nightback goes into Steeljaw's and Strongarm's room to wake them only to be growled at by his father. But Steeljaw stops growling once he sees it's Nightback, "Nightback, what's wrong?"
"The thunder woke me up," he replied quietly.
Strongarm picked up their son and placed him on the berth, "It's okay, there's nothing to be scared of."
"Why does it have to be so loud?"
"Not sure, it just is. Your dad used to hate the thunder for the same reason, it was too loud for his sensitive hearing."
"It's not so bad once you get used to it," Steeljaw added.
"See? You'll get used to it through time, we all did."
A loud crack of thunder sounded and Nightback dove under the cover and snuggled up against his dad. Steeljaw held his son close, rubbing his helm trying to soothe his fears while Strongarm rubbed his back trying to calm him down.
"We'll be right here," she whispered, "Try to get some sleep." She started rubbing him behind his ear which calmed him down and put him to sleep. She giggled, "Like father like son," she whispered.
Steeljaw chuckled as he watched Strongarm, "Maybe you can do me next," he whispered to her as he wrapped his tail around her waist. Strongarm chuckled as she rubbed him behind his ear. He moans a bit as he leans into her servo.
Enjoying yourself?
Yes.
I love you.
I love you too.
Strongarm rests her helm against Steeljaw's, slowly falling asleep. He nuzzled his helm against hers as he also went back to sleep.
Bumblebee is woken up by a knock at the door, he goes to answer it and sees Grimlock who busts in looking scared. "Alright, Grim. What's going on?"
"The sky keeps making that loud boom," he whimpered quietly as lightning illuminated the room making him jump at the thunder.
"Grim, it's just thunder."
"Can you make it stop?" He asked as he hid under Bumblebee's covers.
"No, I can't. It's natural on this planet."
"What causes it?" He let out a yelp as the thunder rumbled across the sky.
"Not sure, it's one of Earth's mysteries."
"Would it be alright if I stayed here for tonight? If you don't mind."
Bumblebee vented out a sigh, "Sure, Grim."
"Sorry if I ruined your night."
"No, no, you're good. I can understand how you feel, I was once scared of the thunder myself."
"You were?"
"Yep, until I got used to it."
"How long did that take?"
"I think by my fourth or fifth one I was used to it."
Grimlock whined as he pulled the covers over his helm. Bumblebee laid down, "Just try not to pay it any mind."
"I'll try," he said as he lay beside the smaller mech.
"Good, now try to go back to sleep."
The Dinobot mumbled an "OK" as he quickly fell into recharge and Bumblebee went back into recharge himself.
Razorclaw kept jumping across the floor whenever the thunder rumbled across the sky, or when the high winds would make something fall over. Soundwave was watching him, "I see this is your first storm. That's thunder and lightning, common things on this planet."
"When will it stop?" He asked in fear as he covered his ears.
"Whenever the storm is over."
Razorclaw groaned as the thunder rumbled across the sky, "How are you so used to it?"
"Been through it a lot already, when we were last here we had to fly through it a few times."
"What was that like?" He asked as he tried to calm down.
"Rough."
"It must have been scary."
"A bit at first but we got used to it."
Razorclaw made his way over to Soundwave, "How's Laserbeak?"
"He's recovering."
"I'm glad he's going to be alright," he said as a loud boom made the room shake. Razorclaw jumped, quickly making his way onto Soundwave's lap. Soundwave put his arms around him and held him close while he comforted him, "You must think I'm a coward."
"It's nothing compared to Starscream."
"I've heard the name before. Who is he?"
"He was Megatron's second-in-command, but he betrayed Lord Megatron many times. He was a traitor and a coward."
"Where is he now?"
"He's dead, Lord Megatron killed him."
"Wow. You think very highly of Megatron, don't you?"
"We've been together since before the war, we fought in the gladiatorial arena together. I was his right-hand mech while he was trying to come to power on Cybertron, and been his right-hand mech throughout the war."
"He must trust you a lot."
"He does."
"And you trust him." He couldn't help but feel jealous of the former warlord.
"Yes."
Razorclaw wrapped his arms around Soundwave's back, his spark felt like it was breaking. He wasn't sure why he felt threatened by Megatron. Soundwave held him tightly, "It's okay, the storm will pass."
Razorclaw nuzzled his nose against Soundwave's neck. Soundwave laid his helm against his helm as he continued to comfort him. He struggled to keep his optics open, "Soundwave?"
"Yeah?"
Razorclaw mumbled something before he fell into recharge. Soundwave just chuckled as he watched him, and then he too fell into recharge.
