You know, sometimes it is the choices that we make that can end up changing our lives for the better…or the worse. Most times, they can just take us on a journey that we need to be on.

I had this certain idea, ever since I finished Season 5 and let me just say, those writers have no imagination or heart. But that's where I come in. Enjoy!

Chapter 1: Unexceptional Exception

You may call it unfair, unjust, or beyond ridiculous, but understand that Chloe had every right to feel the way she does. She was standing next to her father when she overheard her mother making a proposition to take Marinette Dupain-Cheng to New York and... not her?

Chloe had her head down, seething. "It's... It's ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!" Looking towards her mother, "I've never been to New York with you, and you're taking Marinette Dupain-Cheng!?"

Audrey didn't look fazed, just continued. "I'm taking her because she's exceptional, Claudette. Uh— Chloe." Not lingering too long on the fact that she straight up forgot her name. "I'm exceptional, too!" She adamantly proclaimed.

Audrey looked at Chloe for a few seconds, "The only exceptional thing about you, my dear, is your mother," looking away disinterested. That made Marinette and Adrien look at each other, a look of sympathy.

"Audrey, dear, I think you're being just a tad too harsh to Chloe right now," André tried to reason with his wife, whatever good it would do.

At that moment, Chloe wanted to pull out her Miraculous Jewellery Box and show everyone, especially her mother, that she is exceptional, until...

"André, please," she made an exaggerated roll of her eyes. "Can you not encourage her tantrums and mood swings? Seriously, this is why I told you I didn't want any kids. They will grow to be ungrateful brats and ruin your careers."

And with that, the whole group seemed to have gone silent, as though she didn't realize what she had said. Audrey looked like she was absolutely done with the whole conversation. Everyone was caught up with their own mixed reactions. Adrien looked both mad at what his childhood best friend's mother said and sad at the hurt expression that Chloe was showing. Marinette looked shocked by the awfulness of how a parent could say those words to their own child, much less in front of total strangers; her parents looked to have the same thoughts, only their faces seemed to express the disgust and anger. Gabriel looked unfazed, more intrigued at what could come about from this little spat from the young blonde.

"Audrey!" André looked horrified but still tried to give off a humour-filled expression, as if to downplay the entire thing. He didn't realize he was squeezing his daughter's shoulders with a bit too much strength. "Audrey, I think this is not the time… Chloe—"

Chloe sported a pained expression, as if she was physically punched in the gut. Although, that would have been better than what she just heard her own mother say to her face, and in front of Marinette of all people.

"This is ridiculous… absolutely RIDICULOUS!" She ran off from the group, tears threatening to fall, and she would not allow anyone to see her in her weakest. Not her parents, not her friend/crush, and especially not Marinette.

"Chloe, wait!" Adrien wanted to run after her, to console her friend, but a firm hand stopped him from doing such a thing. "Father?" Looking as if pleading with the stone-faced man.

"We better be going home, Adrien. Thank you all for coming." With less than a pleasant smile, as he gestures (pulls) a reluctant Adrien towards the car in front of the venue. Like that, they left, leaving everyone still sorting out what just happened.

Audrey adjusted her glasses, snobbishly, "Ugh. She has always been such a drama queen. She obviously didn't get it from me," looking over to her husband as if to make a point. The same husband was standing there, looking ashamed and didn't say anything. "Very, can't be helped." Audrey walked down the red carpet. "See you tonight, Marinette. I'll meet you at my helicopter." (André runs after her, like the spineless jellyfish he is.)

Marinette and her family just stood there, astonished by the woman's gall and impertinent behaviour in general. She really makes one think about her all so generous offer. And that's what Marinette was doing.

Slamming open her bedroom doors, Chloe burst in with the same rage-fueled strength, slamming the doors shut. If done with more force, they might have been shaken off their hinges. She locked the doors, signalling her desire for solitude. She didn't want to risk anyone seeing her in such a vulnerable state.

As she slumped onto her bed, she tossed the Miraculous box onto her nightstand. It popped open, and the bee comb fell out onto the floor, surrounded by a soft, glowing yellow light. A small bee-like creature emerged from the jewel, its voice filled with concern and sadness.

"Salutations, my Qu—" It stopped short, noticing Chloe's tear-streaked face. "My Queen! Why are you crying? What happened while I was gone?" The little creature moved closer, inspecting the distressed girl.

Chloe, with mascara running down her face and red, puffy eyes, clearly had been crying heavily. Her sobs were erratic, revealing her deep emotional turmoil. It was a sight that would unsettle anyone with a compassionate heart, or in this case, prompt a certain Kwami to offer comfort.

Pollen approached Chloe, gently rubbing circles on her forehead before pulling her into a comforting hug; as much as a being of her size could manage.

"I-it's ridiculous…utterly ridiculous!" She said in between sobs.

"It's okay, my Queen," Pollen murmured softly.

"No! It's not!" Chloe abruptly stood up, moving a few feet away from the bed. "The whole situation is a sham! Marinette Dupain-Cheng gets offered to go with my mother to New York, while I get left behind!" She stomped her foot on the ground in frustration.

"Oh my Queen…" Flying over, Pollen reached out to comfort Chloe's shoulder.

Chloe was angry, but she was also deeply saddened by the situation. She couldn't shake off what her mother had last said about her, 'this is why I told you I didn't want any kids. They will grow up to be ungrateful'. 'Does that mean she never wanted me? No, it couldn't be true…could it?' Chloe's thoughts were interrupted by Pollen's urgent gestures.

Suddenly, through her window, a familiar eerie purple butterfly emerged. Chloe wasted no time, grabbing whatever she could find to defend herself against the Akuma. Her emotions were still running high, and the only thought on her mind was to protect the Miraculous. With a determined stance, she mouthed out, "Hide and take the Miraculous with you." Reluctantly, Pollen took the jewel and hid it out of sight, effectively protecting the Miraculous.

As the Akuma swooped towards her, it latched onto Chloe's sunglasses. A purple butterfly outline formed over her eyes as a smooth, sultry, manipulative voice echoed in her mind.

'Queen-ceptional, I am Hawk Moth. You crave the approval of a parent who does not see your worth, but I do.' Chloe tries desperately to resist, but more so, to hide the knowledge of Pollen from Hawk Moth. 'I am giving you the power to show not just her, but the whole of Paris that you are exceptional. All I ask from you is to get me Ladybug and Chat Noir's Miraculous.'

Unable to resist any longer, she gave in. "You're right, Hawk Moth! I am exceptional! And soon everyone will know that, including you, Mom!" Black mist shrouded her body, transforming her into her new persona. She was now dressed in a gold-yellow knee-length princess dress with black stripes placed around the chest and arms. Her hair was pulled back into an up-do ponytail, and her glasses rested on her nose, a black frame with gold lenses. A scepter formed in her hands, emitting golden dust below her feet.

"Get ready, Paris! Queen-ceptional is here… to judge you!" With that declaration, she flew out of the window on her golden dust ride.

Back in her room, Marinette couldn't shake off the sadness in her heart as she contemplated what had happened to Chloe. Her Kwami flew to her, concerned.

"Marinette, are you still thinking about what happened to Chloe?" Tikki asked, sensing her holder's distress.

"Yeah, Tikki…" She sighed. "She may not be my favorite person, but I don't like how her mother spoke to her like that." Her expression now leaned toward a scowl.

"I understand, Marinette. Families can be weird and sometimes harsh with one another. But maybe Chloe's mom will see the error of her ways and apologize," Tikki said hopefully.

"Yeah, maybe…" Marinette's sad expression remained. But a ring from her phone interrupted her thoughts. She glanced down at the screen to see a notification about an Akuma attack.

Marinette sprang into action, determined to help.

Marinette sped out of her bed, much to a confused Kwami and up to her roof balcony. When she looked out to the city, she saw the Akumatized villain.

"Hello Paris! It is I; Chloe Bourgeois, but you may address me as Queen-ceptional!" Hovering on the sign in the square. "You there, peasant!" Pointing at a normal looking stranger. "You shall be one of my exceptional followers." Saying that, she shot a ball of gold dust at the man, turning him in to a gold statue butler. "You are exceptional my queen." The newly created man said, as he bowed down before her.

"And don't you forget it." A smirk plastered along her face at the compliment. She continued to fire several beams of silver at many of the people around, some ran but were end up, exceptionalized.

Marinette sprung in to action. "I had a feeling that Hawk Moth would get to Chloe. Tikki, spots on!" A flash of pink and white light shown and Ladybug appeared in her streamlined red and black spotted suit.

Across the city, QC has been amassing an army of exceptional people, their first mission was to locate Ladybug and Chat Noir, and finally grab their miraculous'. As she oversaw her army searching, she spotted a familiar mangy black Chat. "Chat Noir!"

Flipping on to a sign below her. "The one and only, your majesty." Saying that, he gave a mock bow, with a wide grin on his face.

"Hand over your miraculous and I may turn you in to an exceptional masterpiece, like Moi." She said with such cockiness and surety, as if believing he would surrender.

Chat was thinking about it, before he shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I don't purr-ticularly like that idea. Gold is not really my style." Chloe scowled at that before a wicked smile grew on her face. "Your loss kitty, but I will still be taking your miraculous." She lunged at Chat, swing her sceptre, an inch before it clubbed the surprised cat.

"Whoa!" He flipped on his hands, trying to give some equal distance between them. He used the distance, to make his staff extend, to knock the, but with grace, she avoided the attack and went in for a roundhouse kick; straight in to Chat's chest.

Chat pulled himself up, eyes locked on the villain. "Is it just me or are you suddenly good at fighting Chloe?"

"You mean to say, exceptionally good, peasant. Get him my exceptional soldiers!" She ordered, her army running over to seize the cat. Chat Noir does his best to knock back each one that comes his way, but they are good at blocking or dodging his attacks, a few times he is hit and almost falls down. As the exceptional soldiers have now piled on him, he is rescued when a yo-yo string wraps around his waist and pulls him up on a roof nearby.

QC didn't like that, "Go get them soldiers!" They did without hesitation.

The superhero duo jump from one building to another, till they hid behind a dark alley, observing as the exceptional soldiers ran passed. The heroes got a moment to catch their breath. "Thank you My Lady. A few more seconds back there and I could've turned back in to a pauper." He gave a humorous smile. To which lady rolled her eyes, but in a playful way.

"Well we can't have that can we?" She then turned around the corner to see that the soldiers have gone. "Okay, we are safe for now."

"Yeah for now." Feeling exasperated, as he fell down to the ground in tiredness. "Where do you think the Akumatized object?"

"The Akumatized object must be either in that sceptre or glasses." She commented.

"My money is on the sunglasses." Chat said confidently.

Ladybug looked at him sceptically, "Why do you figure that?"

"This is Chloe we are dealing with. Those sunglasses seem to be signature style, even while Queen-ceptional." Ladybug mauled over the idea of and couldn't agree more. "Alright Chat, will try from there, but first. Lucky Charm!" She span her yo-yo in to the air, dazzling pink and red lights appeared; before a swarm of ladybugs twisted in to the sky to form a random object.

"A pendant? What am I supposed to do with this?" Confused as the object landed in her hands. "Well, I think your miraculous must want you to accessorize more." He lightly chuckled, much to the annoyance of Ladybug. Ladybug took a moment to pan out her ideas and she saw some few items of choice.

"Chat Noir, I think I have an idea of how to beat her. But we might need a little bit of help with this one." Saying that, they left to carry out the plan.

At that point, QC has been amassing a favourable army of exceptional soldiers/servants, marching around parts of Paris, to locate Ladybug and Chat Noir's miraculous'.

'Where are those unexceptional do-gooders' Right then, the purple butterfly outline formed over her angry face. Queen-ceptional, time is running out and I assure you that if you don't get me that which I want, I will have no choice but take away your powers and give them to someone more…exceptional instead.

"No Hawk Moth! I will get those heroes miraculous', just you wait." Saying that, a sight caught her attention.

Ladybug and Chat Noir were right in front of her at a distance. Calling out to her, "Hey, Queen-ceptional! Looking for our miraculous! Well, come and get them!" They taunted, as they ran away.

"Don't let them escape, get them!" She ordered her soldiers. "Yes, Queen-ceptional!" They ran in the direction, giving chase.

"Hey Queeny, over here." Ladybug and Chat Noir waved mockingly, from the other side of the street. "Wha-But How?!" She was momentarily confused, but chased after them herself. She flew over to where they were and a fight ensured. Although it was two against one, Queen-ceptional was proving to be tough an opponent. She was thinking she was about to win, when Ladybug sent forth her lucky charm and out came an extinguisher.

"Hahaha! What, you think you can extinguish my exceptionalness?" She mockingly asked. But Ladybug only smirked. "Sorry Chloe, but you are no longer going to be exceptional." Lunging at her, but Chloe jumped out of the way and flew away to the bridge.

She was about to call upon her soldier army, but was immediately yanked down by a yo-yo of Ladybug. Chat Noir's, "Cataclysm", was at the ready. They fought once again, hand to hand, till Ladybug pulled away, for Chat to distract her, QC was about to blast golden dust at the cat, but was sprayed with extinguisher foam. The stuff caused her dust to disappear and momentarily be blinded. Chat Noir took the opportunity to swipe her glasses.

"I'll take these your highness and promise to give you back after this…," Saying that, he destroyed the akumatized object, letting the Butterfly out, "You're turn Buggaboo." Playfully called.

"No more evil-doing for you little akuma." Saying that, she opened her yo-yo, to show a white light. "Time to de-evilize!" Catches the Akuma. "Gotcha!" Releases the now-purified Akuma. "Bye bye, little butterfly. Miraculous Ladybug!" Tosses the extinguisher and the Miraculous cure spreads out, turning everyone affected, back to normal. At that very moment, Rena Rouge arrived and it all made sense.

"Pound it!" Ladybug, Chat Noir and Rena Rouge fist pumped for a job well done.

While Chloe was on her knees, in state of shame, the news van came over with Nadja Chamack, holding a tablet with Audrey on it. "Audrey Bourgeois, tell us live how you feel about what just happened."

"Honestly, to me, Claudette has proven to me that there is nothing exceptional about her. Like seriously, you're Akumatization was clearly a copy of mine, just nothing more than a copy." Those comments were broadcasted throughout all the TV screens, for all the Parisians to view her pained expression. Chat Noir, could see the painfilled expression in her eyes. He went over there, placing his hands on her shoulder, but shrugging his hands off, she gave everyone a once over and began to leave.

"Chloe wait!" Chat Noir called out, but she did not falter in her steps. "Chloe! For whatever it's worth, you are exceptional!" That sentence, to some may have done nothing, but it surely brought something to light in Chloe's heart. Whether she knew it or not.

It was now the early evening, and Chloe was in her room once more, after the whole situation, she could not help but feel a tinge of relief, embarrassment and looming sadness.

Her phone has been ringing with calls from her "friend" Sabrina, wondering if she was okay. Turns out that her humiliation and defeat was broadcasted for all Paris to see.

'I do not want to listen her whines.' She puts her phone on silent and ignores it. She however felt more disheartened that Adrien did not even call her once the whole day.

That was one of many of many thoughts running through her brain; but she was momentarily brought out of it, by a certain concerned Kwami.

She looked over to see the worried look of the Kwami. "Pollen, go away. I am not in the mood." She muttered, not finding the energy to deal with her now.

Undeterred, she persisted. "I cannot my Queen. Especially when you are in this state."

She paid no mind, just gave an eye roll, "Whatever…" Going back to covering her face. As she goes over a decision she didn't feel like doing.

On the rooftop of Le Grand Paris. Marinette walked to the helicopter platform, where a slightly irate Audrey was waiting for her.

"Well, well. It's about time. We can take off, now." She was turning to leave, but was stopped.

"I won't be coming to New York with you." Audrey is surprised. "I still have so many things to do here. All the people I love are here: my parents, my friends."

"You're making a mistake, Marinette." She said as if a matter of fact. "Well, I don't think so. But I am grateful for the offer though." Marinette said, reassured.

Audrey scoffs, "Well, this has been a waste of my time. I guess I will be going to New York alone then."

"Not just yet mom." The voice caught both Marinette and Audrey off guard, as a deadpanned looking Chloe, walked up to them. She stopped at Marinette and whispered, "Listen Dupain-Cheng, leave now. I want to talk to my mother." Marinette as if on autopilot, wanted to ask her if she was okay, but looking at the slowly irate and sad expression on the girl, she chose to leave this alone.

Heading down the stairs, Tikki spoke up. "Marinette, do you think that Chloe will be okay?" Marinette could not really answer that question, as she was unsure herself.

"Not now Chlorene, since that Marinette girl has turned down my proposition, I will have to go back to New York, with nothing to show for it." She said, annoyed at the turn out.

"Then, why can't I come with you then?" She questioned, trying to not mind the wrong name.

"Honestly, Cleo, we already went over this." She tiredly said.

"But why mom?" Her voice now raised "I still don't understand why you ask for that baker girl, while your own daughter is here." Feeling the hurt resurface.

"Clara-"

"It's Chloe, mum…" She tried giving a neutral expression. But broke when asked the question that has been on her mind. "Why don't you love me, mom?"

Silence hang in the air, and every second that passed, was like a piece of her heart was being chipped off.

Audrey sighed. "Look…Chloe. It's not that I don't…whatever. But I am just telling you the facts at hand. You are just not exceptional, even with what that Ladybug superhero said. Pay no mind that she is wearing polka dots in this season, unexceptional. But she is a superhero and she is, somewhat exceptional; even if her sense of style is not. But if it makes you feel like I do care, I can stay here and do a little more business on the side, for you."

Chloe had nothing to say, she just left without a word and headed straight to her room. When she arrived, Pollen was quick to inquire about her young wielder's conversation.

"My Queen-" But was interrupted by Chloe. "Don't Pollen…I'm fine." That was an obvious lie. She moved to the bed, and slumped on it, giving a shaky sigh, before tears fell down her cheeks. Pollen hovered over to the blonde.

"If you ask me, I do not agree with your mother." Chloe looked up, shocked at that, only to find the angry expression marred on the Bee's face. "W-what do you know? She-she's right after all." Saying that, only made her feel more pain. "There is nothing exceptional about me."

"That is not true My Queen!" Her voice raised. "Today you have proven to be an exceptional person." She said with such conviction.

"Oh right, getting myself Akumatized and embarrassing myself in front of my mother. Utterly exceptional." She sarcastically remarked.

She shook her head. "It is true that you were Akumatized, but you never gave out or allowed the information of the Bee Miraculous to fall in to Hawk Moth's hands."

"Yeah, like duh. I didn't want him to get his hands on you." Not seeing the Bee's point.

Her smile grew slightly. "That is what I am saying. You were under his control, but still protected me. If that is not grounds to be an exceptional Queen, much less a strong person; then I don't know what does. Chloe, all I am saying is that you are amazing and I can see it. Even if your mother doesn't." Chloe wanted to argue with the insect creature but couldn't help but maul over what she said. Chloe wanted to prove that she is exceptional, not just to herself, but all of Paris; then she can show her mother that she was wrong. And the way she thought to do so was resting on the table beside her.

When she picked up the Miraculous, some part of her mind told her to give it back to Ladybug, but she saw it as an opportunity to prove that she is something great, even if some people don't think so. She now had a goal to reach.

Taking the Bee comb, she stood in front of the mirror and stared herself down.

"Look out Paris, there is a new superhero coming. And she is not afraid to sting." She placed the said object in to her hair and declared her three future words.

"Pollen! Buzz On!"

Author's Notes:

Well guys, this is what I got so far. I am planning to turn this in to a series and judging by how much traction this gets, it will make me all the more motivated. Honestly, I want for Chloe to get a better character development curve than the one they gave us in the show. It won't be instant, but it will be progressive and show her in a different like to everyone.

I think I hate the word exceptional, for the time being. Also, don't come at me for the villain I created, it was short notice and I don't regret a thing…mostly.

Also, yeah, this Chloe has a strong mentality and did not let Hawk Moth in to her head to track down the Bee Miraculous. My work, my Rules!

And yeah, Chloe still wants her mom's adoration. She will hopefully realize that boat has sailed and not worth the journey along the way. Might be a painful lesson, but hey, who says that life would be easy. Also, Master Fu will be angry at Marinettefor losing the Miracle box, with the Miraculous. Even more so surprised at it being active. Suffice to say, there will be drama, lol.

Anyway, let's go.
