My, What Big Teeth You Have
Part III
It was an early morning at William McKinley high school. Classes haven't started yet, however, the football players and cheerleaders were warming up before practice. All except Quinn and Sam Fabray. They were having a private discussion underneath the bleachers next to the football field.
Sam was sitting on the couch a group of girls that call themselves "the skanks" use when smoking. Rumor has it, the girls stole it. Quinn was pacing back and forth in front of her brother. Sam, dressed for practice in his football gear and practice jersey, Quinn dressed in her cheerleading uniform with her hair up in a perfect ponytail.
"I don't know how I'm going to get through today." Sam said, his voice muffled. The football player rested his head against the back of the couch, hands over his face.
"The guys were talking about Finn in the locker room. I already feel so guilty for what I did." He sighed. "I just wanted to have some fun, scare them a little, but my wild instinct took over and I couldn't control it."
Quinn huffed. She hovered over Sam and removed his hands from his face, forcing him to look at her. "I sympathize with you, I do, but get it together. We have to figure out who this witch coven is and what they want with Santana before it's too late." She stepped away from Sam and continued pacing.
"Maybe I could find something in dad's library he keeps in the basement. Those books are so ancient, they have to have some useful information." Quinn thought out loud.
"What are you going to look up?" Sam asked. "Do witch covens sacrifice normies in their rituals?"
It was a lame attempt at a joke, though, Quinn didn't take it that way. Instead, she stopped pacing and looked worriedly at Sam.
"You think they want to sacrifice my girlfriend?"
Sam stood up. To comfort his little sister, he rubbed her arms. "No, I was just making a dumb joke." Quinn took a calming breath. "Wait," he stopped rubbing the cheerleader's arms, "when did she become your girlfriend?" He asked with a teasing smirk.
"Yesterday." A new, raspy voice said.
Both Quinn and Sam turned to Santana, also dressed her in a cheer uniform and hair in a perfect ponytail. The Latina walked up to Quinn.
"Is everything okay?"
"No, some mystery witch coven tried to kidnap my girlfriend last night." Quinn hugged Santana and inhaled the unique scent of her perfume and shampoo.
"How are you feeling, by the way?" Sam asked. "I know a spell like that could have lingering side effects."
"I'm okay." Santana answered still wrapped in Quinn's arms. "I haven't felt dizzy since last night. Now I'm just having a hard time wrapping my head around this witch coven thing, and I don't even want think about the other thing."
Quinn pulled away from the embrace. "I know it's hard, San, but you have to. All of us have to think about it. Last night won't be the last time they try something. I'm really worried and you should be, too."
"Right now I'm just worried about getting to practice on time."
"It's time for laps, lazy babies! And where are my captains?!" Their cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester, could be heard shouting into a megaphone.
"I have to get to practice, too." Sam said. He then turned to his sister. "I get that this is scary, sis, but you know mom and dad aren't going to let anything happen to Santana, and I know you won't, either." He added before running off to football practice.
"We better go." Said Santana. "Coach Sue will make us do extra laps if we don't." The brunette turned with the intent to return to practice when Quinn stopped her.
"I know you have a hard time talking about your feelings." Quinn said causing Santana to blush. "But you can tell me if you're scared. I'd understand if you are, this is a very scary situation."
Santana stepped forward, closer to Quinn. However, instead of giving Quinn an answer, she closed the distance between them with a kiss.
"We have to go to practice." Santana finally said after pulling away. She doesn't give Quinn a chance to protest and this time she was able to turn around and go back to cheerleading practice, leaving Quinn behind.
"You will open up to me one day, Santana Marie Lopez." The blonde said to herself before joining Santana and the rest of the squad.
Burt Hummel started his business Hummel Tire and Lube years ago when his son Kurt was just a couple years old. It was one of two car garages in Lima, though, the other garage was a far drive as it sat on the outline of town, too far for most people.
In the past, tinkering on cars was a relaxing hobby for Burt, however, today he was too distracted. The image of those two unusually large wolves kept playing in his mind like an endless movie. Particularly the grey and white wolf that hurt Finn. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't stay focused. And now, whilst working on a car, he got an idea to hunt and trap the animal. Unable to keep his mind off it, he had to put the idea into motion.
"I think you guys can handle this one." He said to the other two mechanics.
"Taking a break, boss?" One of the young men asked.
"Something like that. I'll be in my office. Knock if you need me."
Although he planned to build this trap at his house, he had to draw out the plans first.
It had only been twenty four hours since the hospital trip and people in town were talking about Finn and his crazy step-father. Burt knew this to be true, because when the couple of young men working for him thought he was out of ear shot, he overheard them talking about Finn which lead them to discussing Burt.
"Must of had too many beers, made him hallucinate." One said.
"Nah, heard my old man talk about it with his friends. He's just crazy."
He predicted it was coming, though, it didn't make it hurt any less. The word "crazy" kept echoing in his head. He knew what he saw, he isn't crazy, and when he gets his hands on that grey and white wolf, everyone who made fun of him will be sorry.
If it hadn't been for Finn Hundson getting admitted to the hospital, and Burt Hummel's crazy claim of being attacked by wolves large enough to be the same size as bears, it would be bigger news that Quinn and Santana are officially dating.
There were rumors of a more sexual relationship between the two cheerleaders and for a time that was all anyone talked about, until recently. That came with mixed feelings for Quinn.
While she was happy the attention was no longer on herself and Santana, she wished it wasn't due to one of their classmates getting badly injured by her brother's wolf half.
"If you tilt your head and squint really hard it kinda looks like a cat."
Quinn was in art class and in the process of an abstract painting when the cheerleader had been distracted by her thoughts. All of the attention on Finn, her mixed feelings about it, and being grateful no one believed Burt's story. The person who interrupted those thoughts was none other than Brittany S. Pierce.
Brittany was an outcast through and through. From the outfits she wore, currently a blue and yellow winter flap hat, a sleeveless shirt, red leg warmers on her arms, and a pair of floral jeans, an outfit only Brittany would get away with. To the off-the-wall things she says, such as; "I think my cat has been reading my diary."
No one took her seriously, not even the teachers.
Quinn titled her head and squinted real hard. "Oh yeah. I guess it does."
Brittany awkwardly held out a card. "I came over to give you this. That loud, short girl has been demanding everyone to sign it for Finn but she started annoying people, they threatened her with violence. I don't like violence so I offered to help."
Quinn looked down. Brittany was holding a get well soon card. Begrudgingly, she took it from the taller blonde and signed it. The short and loud girl Brittany had referred to was Rachel Berry. The most arrogant, entitled, selfish, self-centered person Quinn knew.
Rachel was the opposite of popular. The Jewish girl somehow managed to dress like a toddler and an elderly woman at the same time. She was one of the gleeks; as was Brittany, that was what everyone called the glee club kids.
No one was bellow the glee club on the social ladder and Rachel Berry was their leader. Everyone knew she had a major crush on Finn so it wasn't a surprise that she had been forcing people to sign a get well card for him.
"Live long and prosper." Brittany said after Quinn signed the card.
The unusual blonde held up the Star Wars sign then did something even more odd. She leaned into Quinn's personal space, her mouth by the shorter blonde's ear, as if she were about to tell a secret, and whispered something in a language Quinn never heard.
When she finished, Brittany took the card and returned to collecting more signatures on behalf of Rachel Berry as if nothing had happened.
Quinn shrugged it off as another weird thing Brittany Pierce did this week and returned to her painting, though, she was distracted again. This time by a vision. It was fuzzy at first but then she saw the mystery witch coven were gathered in a circle in the middle of the woods. It would have been darker had it not been for the red moon. There was chanting, although, it was intelligible.
Suddenly one of the witches held up a knife with a large, and sharp, blade above their head and a loud scream can be heard over the chanting. It was Santana.
Quinn gasped as her eyes opened. She found herself laying on the floor, concerned faces of her peers looking down at her, when the teacher broke the circle of students that had gathered around the cheerleader.
"Get back to your paintings." Ms. Holiday said. The teacher then helped Quinn to her feet and guided her to sit on one of the stools. "Do you need to see the nurse?"
"No." Quinn protested despite feeling dizzy from the vision.
"Are you sure? You don't look so hot."
Quinn closed her eyes and rubbed her temples. "I'm sure." She sighed. "I just need some water and I'll be fine."
"Okay. Take your time. Class is almost over, anyway."
"Thanks."
Quinn went out to the hallway. There was a water fountain by the library. She took a few gulps and instantly felt better. When the bell rang, she sought out Sam. This wasn't the first time she experienced a vision when not in wolf form but it was the first time a vision felt real and made her sick.
Although she didn't know what that meant, she was more concerned about the vision itself. Santana was in real danger. More than Quinn originally believed.
When she spotted him, Sam was at his locker talking to Noah Puckerman.
"I have to talk to you. It's important." She turned to Noah and said, "You can come, too, Puck. We might need your help."
The two football players followed Quinn through the halls as she searched for a empty room. Eventually, they settled for the choir room. Quinn closed the door and locked it, just in case.
"What's this about, Q?" Sam asked.
"Santana. I had a vision during my art class." Quinn began pacing. "It felt so real. I was in the middle of the woods with that witch coven. All of them were in a circle, surrounding Santana, chanting something. I don't know what. I couldn't understand them. They could have been speaking a different language but it's hard to say for sure, I could barely hear what they were saying. When I came to, I was laying on the floor and I felt sick, dizzy. I had to drink water to make everything stop spinning."
"What were they doing to her?" Noah asked.
Quinn began to get emotional thinking about it. "It looked like a sacrifice."
"Are you sure?" Sam asked.
"One of them had a knife. An athamé, maybe. It was above their head like they were going to hurt Santana with it and…I heard her scream." She added. "That was the only thing I heard so clearly." Quinn got teary eyed thinking about it then quickly wiped her eyes. She didn't like crying in front of people.
Sam and Noah shared the same worried look.
"Is that all you saw in your vision?" Sam asked.
"Yes." Quinn nodded.
"Maybe there's more to it." Noah suggested.
Quinn glared at him. "I know what I saw."
"But maybe you didn't see everything. Maybe you only saw one part of the vision. Has that ever happened before, have you seen only a piece of a vision?"
"No."
"But you've never been sick after a vision." Sam pointed out.
"No, I haven't." Quinn said slowly coming to realize it was possible she had only seen one piece of the vision. Maybe there was more to it. For Santana's sake, and her own, she hoped so. "I'll still feel better when we're home and I can read through dad's library."
BANG! BANG! BANG!
The trio jumped toward the locked door. Rachel Berry knocked on the door, angry and confused as to why the door was locked, and why they were in the choir room. Sam unlocked the door.
"What are you three doing in here, and why was the door locked? This is for the glee club only, you have no business being in here!"
"Relax, hobbit." Said Quinn. "We're leaving now."
Rachel blocked the doorway as they tried to leave.
"Wait, have any of you signed the get well soon card? Brittany was kind enough to offer to collect the signatures for me."
"Yes." Quinn, Sam, and Noah said together in a annoyed tone.
"Step aside, man hands." Quinn said.
Rachel let the trio pass but not before reminding them to stay out of the choir room. As the president of the glee club it was her duty to ensure no trespassing.
"So what's the plan?" Sam asked Quinn as they headed to Sam and Noah's locker.
"I'm going to do some reading on witches in our father's ancient library. There has to be something that could help."
Both Sam and Noah stopped in their tracks. Quinn looked back once she realized she had been walking alone.
"That's it?" Noah asked, unimpressed.
Quinn crossed her arms defensively with her lips pursed and brows furrowed. "What do you mean that's it?"
"Come on, Quinn, you have to admit, it's not a very good plan." Sam pointed out.
"Well, unless either of you can think of another option, this is all we have!"
With that, Quinn turned on her heels in the direction of her next class. She walked the halls of McKinley with anger. Conducting research in her dad's had to work. It was the only plan they had. They weren't your average books.
If Quinn remembered correctly, Russell had all kinds of books on witchcraft. From spells, potions, curses, to the history of magic. That's where they're going to find the answers they're looking for.
Who is this witch coven, what do they want with Santana, and how can they be stopped?
All of these thoughts were tumbling in her head. She was moving on autopilot, however, the other students in the crowded hallway still parted like the red sea as the captain of the cheerleading squad passed.
Quinn had been so lost in thought, the blonde was caught off guard when someone had yanked her by the arm and dragged her into a janitor's closet. At least, she thought it was a janitor's closet. It was pitch black so her surroundings were a mystery.
"Relax, babe. It's just me." Said Santana. The Latina rubbed Quinn's arms, making the blonde's muscles unclench.
One half of Quinn was thankful for the dark closet as it was impossible for Santana to see her rosey cheeks. Though, the other half of her wanted to see her beautiful girlfriend. As if Santana wanted the same, she pulled the string attached to the light bulb, illuminating the small room, confirmed to be a janitor's closet.
"Did you really drag me back into a closet?" Quinn asked.
Santana chuckled as she pulled Quinn into her by the blonde's waist. "Sorry, it was either this or the choir room, and who wants to go anywhere near that loserville?"
Quinn wrapped her arms around Santana's neck. "Why were those the only options?"
"They're the only rooms we can have some privacy."
The bell rang, alerting class had begun.
"And now we're missing class." Quinn pointed out.
"This is my free period." Santana closed the little distance between them. The kiss was light and playful, almost as if Santana were just giving Quinn a peak of what she could have if she stayed in the janitor's closet. Then she pulled back. "Would you really rather go to class instead of making out with your girlfriend?"
Santana leaned in again. Their lips almost grazing when she dipped her head and began to place delicate kisses to Quinn's pale neck.
"San." Quinn whispered pleadingly. "I can't…I can't miss…"
The words died on her lips as Santana started to suck and nibble on the side of her neck, surely leaving a noticeable hickey. Santana smirked in victory. She then pressed Quinn against the wall and began making out with the blonde.
If breathing wasn't a necessity, Quinn could kiss Santana all day and night. The Latina's lips were so full and soft and she definitely knew how to use them. For a moment Quinn was so lost in the moment that she forgot they were even in a small janitor's closet until someone abruptly opened the door. The janitor, of course.
"Get to class!" He shouted.
The two cheerleaders ran out of the janitor's closet holding hands and laughing. Quinn dropped Santana's hand and went toward the direction of her next class.
"Babe!" Santana called after her.
Quinn turned around. Although it was obvious her cheeks are a little more pink than they were a moment ago, neither of the girls acknowledge it.
"Yeah?"
Santana stepped toward the blonde. "Lets skip."
"You want to ditch?" One of Quinn's perfect eye brow raised to her hairline.
"No one will notice if we miss the last two classes." She pointed out.
Quinn thought it over. However, she knew she couldn't say no to Santana with how the Latina was looking at her. Lips pursed into a pout, and those puppy dog eyes could give her wolf half a run for her money.
"Fine. But just this once."
Santana's pout instantly turned into a bright smile. Quinn loved that smile. It could light up a whole room.
"Did Sam drive you here?"
"Unfortunately." Quinn said thinking about her brother's old truck.
"Cool. We'll take my car."
The cheerleaders had been cruising around town for some time now and Quinn finally realized Santana didn't have a specific destination in mind. She would have caught on much sooner if Santana hadn't perched her free hand on Quinn's bare thigh. It caused her whole leg to tingle and difficult to focus on anything else.
"Did you want us to ditch the last couple of classes to drive around town?"
"No, I had a plan but now it's changed."
Quinn slowly nodded. "What was the original plan?"
"I was going to take you to our usual spot at the abandoned drive-in movie theater but then I remembered it's now a pile of wood."
"And the new plan?"
"I'm trying to find a new hang out spot but I'm starting to think this one won't be as private."
Santana turned onto another road that would take them to center of town where all the businesses are located. Everything from the mall, Best Buy, Target, and the more local exclusive business such as The Lima Bean. A coffeehouse and lounge.
"Looks like we'll have to settle for the stupid coffeehouse with a giant, stupid bean on the sign." Santana rolled her eyes.
"Is it new?" Quinn asked Santana. "I don't remembering seeing it before."
"Yes and no. It was new a few months ago. It's just been so long since you came to this side of town, you haven't seen it yet." Santana parked in the first free spot in the plaza she could find.
"It couldn't have been that long."
Santana killed the ignition then removed the key, and turned to Quinn. "Believe it or not, it has. Time flies by when you're always running off with your brother to God only knows where, doing God knows what."
The Latina didn't stick around for an explanation or apology. She got out of the car and headed toward The Lima Bean. Quinn stayed back for a moment, feeling guilty. She always had, however, now that she and Santana are officially a couple, the guilt had doubled.
Did Santana say that because she felt left out? Was Quinn a bad friend and girlfriend for not asking? Did she think Quinn was hiding something from her? She didn't have time to think about it as Santana interrupted her turmoil thoughts.
"Quinn!" Santana was at the entrance of The Lima Bean, confused Quinn wasn't right behind her.
Quinn pushed down the guilt then joined Santana. "Sorry. I dropped my cellphone and couldn't find it in your mess of a car." She easily thought of a lie, bringing back the guilt.
"It's not that bad." Santana said as Quinn caught up with the brunette.
"I beg to differ."
Walking into the coffee shop and lounge, Santana looked surprised, as did Quinn. The Lima Bean was split evenly down the middle between a coffeehouse and a lounge. The coffee side had tables scattered everywhere whilst the lounge side had couches and recliners surrounding a large fireplace.
"With a name like The Lima Bean, I didn't think it would be this nice." Santana said.
"Honestly, me neither." Quinn admitted. "I hope the coffee is good."
Together the cheerleaders approached the counter. Luckily for them the line wasn't long. Santana and Quinn chose what they wanted, waited for their orders, and decided to drink their coffee's in front of the fireplace.
"It's official. This is our new hang out spot." Santana announced after drinking some of her coffee. "The coffee is good, the couches are comfortable, there's a fireplace and yeah we won't be able to make out but we can go to my place for that."
"Why did we need to go to an abandoned movie theater if we could've just went to your house?" Quinn asked with an amused grin.
"I was paranoid my parents would catch us. Not that they care I'm gay it just would've been awkward but they've been working late so we don't have to worry about that."
The cheerleaders enjoyed a moment of silence. Enjoying the fire, their coffees, and each other's company.
"I understand why we can't make out here." Quinn began to say. "But is cuddling off the table?" The blonde shyly asked.
Santana smiled at how cute Quinn was being. "You're cute. Cuddling is definitely not off the table, so long as no one from school are here to witness it. I do have a reputation to uphold."
"Of course." Quinn said as the couple cuddle. "I wouldn't want to tarnish your bad bitch reputation." She teased.
"I chose to ignore your condescending tone, Quinn Fabray."
They had a few minutes of peace and serenity until the very thing that Santana wanted to avoid happened.
"Oh, dear, God, tell me I'm hallucinating."
Santana jumped away from Quinn. Kurt Hummel, Mercedes Jones, Tina Cohen Chang, and Mike Chang stood above the cheerleaders mirroring the same shocked and confused expressions as the girls as to why two of the most popular cheerios would hang out in a place like The Lima Bean.
"Don't you have some depressing Rent song to rehearse with the rest of your loserville gang?" Santana asked, now glaring up at the other teens.
Kurt gasped, pleasantly surprised. "I'm too impressed that you even know what Rent is to be offended by that."
Santana rolled her eyes. Kurt, Mercedes, Tina, and Mike sat on the other couch.
"I'm beginning to second guess having this place as our new spot." Santana said quietly to Quinn in her ear. "What are guys doing here, anyway? Shouldn't you be in school?"
"Shouldn't you be in school?" Tina asked.
"Normally we would have glee club right now but Schue cancelled." Kurt answered.
"And you chose to come here instead?" Santana asked, glaring at the flamboyant teen.
"We always come here." Kurt glared back.
A semi awkward silence fell over the group until Quinn and Tina began conversing when they realized they were in the same biology class and neither of them liked their teacher. Mike and Mercedes discussed glee club and something called booty camp, whilst Santana and Kurt drank their coffee as they glared at one another.
"Nice outfit." Santana said. "But it looked even better on a pride parade float."
Kurt flashed a tight smile. "Thank you, but if I wanted an opinion from an asshole, I'd fart." He shot back.
"Whatever. You're so full of shit, the toilet is jealous."
"I've been called worse by better." Kurt casually shrugged.
"You see those doors?" Santana pointed to the entrance/exit double doors. "I want to see you on the other side of them."
"I don't know what your problem is, but I'm guessing it's too hard to pronounce."
"Enough, you two." Mercedes interrupted the pair.
"Fine." Santana drank what was left of her coffee. "You done, babe?"
Quinn and Santana did their best to ignore the shocked faces of Kurt, Mercedes, Tina and Mike. Apparently being at the very bottom of the social ladder meant they haven't heard the rumors about Quinntana.
"Yeah, let's go. It was nice seeing you guys."
The two cheerleaders threw away their cups and held hands as they left. At the Fabray household, Quinn believed she would have to convince Santana to go home, thinking the Latina would want to sneak to her bedroom to make out. Instead, she wanted to avoid Judy and Russell. Claiming they would be forced to keep the bedroom door open.
Quinn was relieved. Not because she didn't want to spend more time with her girlfriend, but because she really wanted to begin reading all of the ancient books Russell had in his library on witches. As soon as she walked through the front door, she went straight for the basement where the library was.
It took her a minute to find the books on witchcraft. Unfortunately there weren't as many as Quinn had thought and most of them were about the history of witches. Something she thought would be helpful this morning until she had that vision during art class.
Only two were on potions and curses. There may be something in either of them on the athamé from her vision, however, after Quinn finished reading the last page of the last book, any hope she had to finding answers for what she had seen in her vision at school completely vanished.
"Hey, there you are." Sam said. "I was waiting for you by the woods where we always go to let our wolves let loose. I mean, I knew you wanted to read these books but I didn't think it would take priority over letting your wolf free."
"Of course it does. It's Santana." Quinn reminded him. "She's not just my girlfriend, she's been my best friend since the fourth grade, and she's in danger. I have to do something to make sure my vision doesn't come true." She sighed heavily.
"I get it, but you need a break from this, and your wolf needs some freedom or she'll come out at the worst time."
Begrudgingly, Quinn went with Sam. At the same woods Sam's wolf attacked Finn, and where they first encountered the mystery witch coven, Quinn and Sam let their wolves run free. The siblings raced, and hunted a few small animals like squirrels and rabbits. Sam was chasing a particularly fast squirrel with Quinn not too far behind him.
"How are you faster than me, I run like the wind!"
Every time he closed in on the squirrel, the squirrel would kick into another gear of speed Sam didn't know was possible for such a small animal to reach.
"Would you leave the damn squirrel alone?" Quinn asked, trying to keep up.
"Never! I will not be defeated!"
Sam was so focused on the squirrel he didn't see it coming until the last minute due to all of the leaves deliberately placed on top of it. Being slower than both Sam and the squirrel Quinn didn't see it at first either.
"Sam!"
A/N: Thanks again for the reviews, I really appreciate the feedback.
