My, What Big Teeth You Have

Part VI

This could be trouble. Although Russell wouldn't want Finn to be in a coma forever, it could mean trouble for his family, and other families like his. If Finn backed up Burt's claims then people in town might start listening. And if that were to happen, Sam wouldn't be the only one to be hunted. Like their children, Russell and Judy let their wolves out, too, though not as often. They have more control. Not to mention the Puckerman family. They, too, let their wolf halves free. It's a necessity.

At the hospital, Russell couldn't go to Finn's room with Burt. He wasn't family, therefore, he had to stay in the waiting room. It wasn't easy for him to wait. He couldn't sit still, and his brain wouldn't shut up. Imagining so many different scenarios of the possibility that Finn could recall the events that got him in the hospital and all of them ended badly.

Just when Russell entertained the idea of sneaking past the nurses station and to Finn's room, he catches a glimpse of Burt headed toward the cafeteria. He followed. Burt was putting food on a tray when Russell approached him.

"How is he?" Russell asked, too impatient to make small talk.

"Hungry." Burt answered vaguely.

Russell watched as Burt continued to fill the tray with food. He wanted to ask more questions about Finn, however, he didn't want to appear too interested, even if he was very interested. Burt couldn't know that. Not that he would guess in a million years that Russell's family are werewolves, he didn't want to be suspicious.

"He doesn't remember what happened." Burt sighed.

Russell's heart skipped a beat. Did he hear correctly? Has something actually gone in his family's favor?

"Did he mention what he does remember?" He did his best to sound casual.

"Not much. Mostly the deer he shot. Most of the events that followed after that is fuzzy. He can remember slamming into the tree and hitting his head but he doesn't remember what caused him to slam into the tree." Burt was disappointed to say.

Russell wasn't sure how to respond to that without sounding suspicious so he changed the subject. "Did the doctors mention any possible side effects from the coma?"

"He might have to relearn how to do some basic stuff but time will tell."

Russell let out a sigh. "I'm sorry to hear that. We'll pray for a speedy recovery."

Burt paid for Finn's food, then turned to Russell. "Thank you, I appreciate it." He flashed a weak smile. "I'm going to take this to him, he's starving."

"Yeah, go, go. I'm heading out now, anyway."

Both men exited the cafeteria then went their separate ways. Russell breathed a sigh of relief, a huge weight lifted off his shoulders. Finn didn't remember what happened. It was still Burt against the town, he didn't have anyone confirm what he had seen that morning in the woods. Walking through the automatic doors, Russell bumped into someone.

"Oh, excu-" He stopped mid sentence once he realized who he had bumped into. "Sam? What are you doing here?"

"He's my friend, and he's in here because of me. I have to see that he's okay for myself." He explained. He tried to go in the hospital but Russell grabbed his arm and dragged him to his car in the parking lot near by. "What the hell?"

"You're not going in there, you're going home."

"Why not?"

"I don't want to push our luck, and even if that wasn't an issue, the nurses won't allow it. You're not family. I had to stay in the waiting room." He explained then scanned the parking lot for Sam's truck. "Where's your truck?"

Sam pointed to another part of the parking lot, further away from the hospital. "Over there."

"Okay. Get in it, and go home, now." He pushed Sam in the direction of the teen's truck. He watched as Sam walked to his car with his head down, disappointed he couldn't see Finn. Russell rubbed his face. "This kid is going to age me horribly."

"Be on high alert, LT."

A blonde teen dressed in a forest green cloak, accompanied by a fat cat, hiked through a thick grove. Everyone in the coven has their own special talent. Brittany Pierce can speak to animals, including her familiar Lord Tubbington. She received him as a present when she was just a little girl.

"No one can know we're here."

Brittany cautiously scanned the woods to be sure they were alone. Even as they reached a small opening. There was just enough room for herself and her large cat. It was her secret spot, a place she could meditate and practice magic in peace. There were already used candles in the formation of a circle. Brittany sat criss cross applesauce in the middle with LT.

She lit the candles using the matches she left the last time she were in her secret spot. Then the blonde took out some of the crystals she had in a little satchel on her hip, and positioned them in a circle as well. With everything in place, Brittany closed her eyes and began chanting the same thing three times.

Voor elke heks, elk uur,

Stuur ons nu de grootste kracht.

baksteen en mortel, hout en steen,

Bescherm ons centrum, bescherm ons huis

Brittany opened her eyes to see all of the crystals glow. The spell worked. Brittany grinned, proud of herself. The teen didn't cast spells often. Labeled as ditsy, the coven didn't trust her to cast any. She can still recall the very first time she casted a spell when she was little. It was a simple spell to call upon the Pierce matriarchs, however, it took a week for her to cast it successfully.

/

Brittany was seven. Her parents initially didn't want to teach their daughter any spells. They lied to the little girl with the excuse that they just wanted her to have a normal childhood without spells, potions, or incantations. For awhile Brittany believed them until her cousin, Mia, gloated about the first spell that she successfully casted on her own. Jealous of her cousin, she wanted to do the same.

"Before you light any candles, you have to memorize the spell first." Brittany's mother, Whitney, explained. "It's important you speak clearly or the spell won't work."

"You know what that means?" Brittany's father, James, asked.

"No, what?"

Whitney and James shared the same concerned look.

"It means you have to practice your Dutch more. A lot more."

Brittany frowned. She hated Dutch lessons with her aunt Charlotte. It's boring. She'd rather play outside with her cousins and her new cat familiar she named Lord Tubbington.

"Fine." Brittany reluctantly agreed, pouting.

"I'll tell aunt Charlotte to teach you a special spell." James said.

"What does it do?" Brittany eagerly asked.

"It calls upon the Pierce family matriarchs." Whitney answered.

Brittany looked confused. "What does that mean?"

"Everyone in our family, and some friends, from the past will come to visit you." James answered.

"Ghosts?!" Brittany excitedly asked with a bright smile.

Whitney chuckled, amused. "Yes, technically they're ghosts.

Brittany gasped. "Wow."

Later that day Charlotte, James' older sister, sat with Brittany and taught her the spell to call upon the Pierce matriarchs. She learned it one line at a time as to not overwhelm the seven year old. Charlotte even wrote it down for her and had Brittany write it over and over until she had it memorized. When she had, Brittany was finally ready to cast the spell.

All spells are done outside where they really connect to their magic. In the backyard, Brittany wore her little forest green cloak, hood down. Candles were positioned in a circle surrounding Brittany. Although she would be casting the spell on her own, Whitney, James, and Charlotte sat off to the side, just in case it went wrong. Carefully, she lit all of the candles before sitting in the center of the circle and began reciting the spell exactly as she was taught.

Ik roep vanuit ruimte en tijd

Matriarchen van de Pierce-lijn.

moeders, dochters, zussen, vrienden,

onze familiegeest zonder einde.

Kom nu bijeen op deze heilige plaats

Brittany watched in amazement as the Pierce family and friends from the past surrounded her with friendly smiles, just as happy to her as she is them. Brittany said hello to everyone she knew and introduced herself to everyone she didn't. She was so thrilled she was able to successfully cast the spell by herself that she ignored the shocked faces of her parents and her aunt Charlotte.

/

Brittany looked over at Lord Tubbington. "Time to visit our new friend Santana." The cat closed his eyes and sighed. "Do not look at me like that, LT. We have to make sure the coast is clear." Lord T turned his head away from Brittany, as if he were throwing a little tantrum. "I have your favorite treat in my pocket, but if you don't want to go to the Lopez's, then I guess-" Brittany didn't need to finish the sentence, Lord Tubbington had the motivation to leave for the Lopez's home. "Works every time." She chuckled.

After thirty minutes she heard the unmistakable meow of Lord T in her head. Along with being able to speak with animals, Brittany can communicate with them telepathically, and vice versa. The blonde blew out the candles, removed her cloak, put the crystals inside of her jean short pocket, then left the woods, and walked to the Lopez home. Lord T was sat across the street, just like the last time, and stayed there whilst Brittany knocked on the door. It was early evening, and Lord T had telepathically informed Brittany that Santana was alone again, her parents working at the hospital.

"Greetings, friend." Brittany smiled at a confused Santana.

"Hi?"

Brittany's smile faltered a little. "Why are you confused?"

"You're at my house, again."

"Of course I am, silly. I said I would, remember?" Her smile brightened again.

"I..just didn't think you were serious."

Brittany chuckled. "You're funny, I like you. May I enter?"

"Umm..sure, I guess."

"Thanks."

Santana stepped aside to let Brittany in the house then closed the front door. She then followed the blonde into the living room and sat on the couch. Like last time, the brunette was watching tv when Brittany made a surprise visit. "Can I get you something?"

Brittany hadn't sat down. She stood awkwardly in the middle of the room. "Yes, please. Water is fine."

"Okay." Santana drawled out suspiciously. "You're suspiciously normal today." She said as she stood to get the water.

With Santana in the other room, Brittany hid one of the crystals on the floor underneath a recliner. When Santana returned with the glass of water, Brittany thanked the brunette as she took the cup from her, quickly drank the water, and gave back the cup.

"You have a lovely home." Brittany said awkwardly, as if it were the first time she had ever said that to someone.

"Thanks…I guess?" Santana looked at Brittany oddly. "You're weird again." She pointed out.

"I get that a lot." Brittany flashed a weak smile. "Can you give me a tour of your lovely home?" She awkwardly asked.

"Sure." Santana agreed, although, Brittany read the judgmental look on the Latina's face.

Santana started the tour in the kitchen.

"Is that a toaster?" Brittany asked with fake amazement.

Santana turned behind her to look at the very normal toaster that most people had. When she did, Brittany hid another crystal. This time in a cabinet behind a pile of plates, hoping no one would find it.

"Did you just open that cabinet?" Santana asked, still suspicious of the blonde.

"Nope." Brittany lied.

Although it appeared that Santana didn't totally believe her, the Latina let it go, and continued with the tour. Next stop, the laundry room. Brittany hid yet another crystal behind the dryer as Santana walked out of the small room. The garage was adjacent to the laundry room, so that was next on the tour. Brittany hid a crystal in another cabinet full of forgotten tools.

The pair went upstairs after that. The master bedroom was at the top of the stairs. Brittany hid a crystal under the large bed after the blonde asked about the walk-in closet behind Santana. Next was Santana's bedroom. It had dark walls, there was a poster of Bob Marley above the bed that also had a black duvet and sheets, and some dirty clothes were on the floor instead of the hamper near by the pile of clothes.

"Sorry for the mess." Santana apologized. She went to clean up the pile of dirty clothes when Brittany stepped in front of the Latina and picked them up for her.

"I got it." She insisted whilst sneakily dropping a crystal in the hamper along with the dirty clothes.

Santana took a few steps back and sat on the bottom of the bed with her arm across her chest. "You're an odd one to figure out, Brittany Pierce."

Brittany shrugged. "Not really. My odd personality could be explained by the lack of friends. The only real friend I've had is my cat Lord Tubbington. I don't really know how to talk to people that aren't my family."

Santana appeared to be confused. Her brows were pinched together. "What about the gleeks?"

Now it was Brittany's turn to be confused. "What's a gleek?"

Santana chuckled. "The glee club. You're in that band of nerds, right?"

"Oh, right." Brittany blushed with embarrassment. "They're nice to me because I'm a good dancer and I choreograph all of our performances for competitions, but they're not my friends. We don't hang out outside of school, or have sleepovers."

At first it looked as if Santana didn't know what to say, and maybe she didn't. "I..I'm sorry to hear that."

"Why? It's not your fault." Brittany pointed out.

Santana opened her mouth to say something when her cell phone alerted her of a text. She removed her phone from her jean pants pocket, and read the screen when Brittany suddenly heard Lord T in her head, he was telling her something with urgency. Then, at the same time both Brittany and Santana said.

"I have to go."

"You have to go."

They paused. Both registering what the other girl said.

"That was rude." Said Brittany.

"You said you have to go, anyway."

Brittany crossed her arms over her chest, a disapproving look on her face. "That doesn't make it any less rude."

Santana let out a sigh. "Sorry, it's just. I don't get a lot of alone time with my girlfriend, even though my parents have been working more at the hospital. I thought we'd be spending more time together but instead she runs off with her brother-" Whatever else she had to say came to a stop. "Sorry, you don't care about that. I'll walk you out."

Santana practically pushed Brittany out of the front door and closed it behind the tall blonde. Brittany glared at the closed door, her arms crossed. "So rude." She shook her head.

Meow

Brittany turned and looked down. Lord Tubbington was sitting at the bottom of the Lopez porch steps. "Are you sure you have the right address this time? That may have been a funny story to tell your friends but it was really embarrassing for me."

Meow

"Okay. I'm trusting you on this."

Brittany followed the cat throughout the neighborhood and finally stopping at a apartment complex in Lima Heights. The teen scanned the surnames of the residents displayed by the front entrance doors and pressed the button to the last one.

"Hello?" A voice came from the intercom.

"H-Hi. It's me, Brittany Pierce. I need your help."

Meanwhile..back at the Lopez house..

Santana and Quinn were in the Latina's room. They had gotten comfortable on the bed to watch a movie, though, they are no longer paying attention to the film. The pair sat face to face, as they made out. Santana then laid back and pulled Quinn on top of her, never breaking the kiss. Just when the brunette was able to smoothly slide her tongue into the mix, Quinn unexpectedly pulled back. Now she was standing at the bottom of the bed, panting as if she had run a marathon.

"I-I'm sorry." Quinn apologized. "I want you so bad, Santana." She said as her hand ball into fists at her side. "But so does my wolf. I can't lose control around you, I won't."

Santana frowned, confused. "But I thought I was your tether?"

"You are, but…do you remember what my mom said about tethers?"

She nodded. "Tethers help wolves from becoming feral, to remind them they are also human."

"Yes but she also said tethers can be a friend or a mate." Quinn reminded her.

"Okay." Santana drawled out. "What does that have to do..wait, are you saying that I'm your mate?"

Quinn blushed. "When we were kissing I heard something in my head that sang, I guess is the best way to describe it, tethermateloverpackpackpack, and bitebitebite."

Santana's eyes widen. "Bite?"

"I won't. I promise, I won't lose control with you. That's why I pulled away."

"I don't understand. I thought having a tether meant you were in control."

"I am in control. It's just now that I know for sure that you're my tether, and my mate, my wolf wants to mark you. To let other wolves know that you're mine." She explained. "It's just a little bite. Harmless, really, I just know you're not ready for that yet. So I have to make sure I don't lose control."

"Oh." Santana said in a disappointing tone. "I guess this means sex is out the window?"

"Just for now. I'm sorry."

Santana pouted like a child. Quinn climbed back on the bed and kissed the brunette.

"Not that I'm complaining," She said against Quinn's lips. "but what are you doing? You just said no sex."

"Kissing isn't off the table."

The girls continued to make out, though, not for long.

"Mija, are you home?!"

Both Santana and Quinn pulled away from the kiss and looked at each other confused.

"Mija?!"

"Si, I'm home!" Santana shouted back.

"Come help me, por favor!"

Santana went downstairs with Quinn right behind her. Maribel, Santana's mother, was carrying a bag of groceries into the kitchen when they found the older Latina.

"Oh, hi, Quinn. Nice to see you." Maribel smiled.

"Hello." Quinn smiled back.

"Mami, what are you doing here?"

Maribel narrowed her eyes. "It's nice to see you, too."

Santana huffed. "Why aren't you at work?" She clarified.

She lifted a shoulder as she removed the groceries from the bag. "All I've been doing lately is work. I need a little break and we needed food. We eat way too much take out."

"Where's papi?"

"Oh, you know how he is. He lives and breathes work. We'll be home tonight. There are more groceries in the car."

Getting the hint, Santana and Quinn went out to Maribel's car to fetch the rest of the groceries then helped put them away. In one bag, Santana was confused to see paper plates and red plastic cups.

"Are we having a party or something?" She asked, showing Maribel the paper and plastic items.

"No. I'm the one that does the dishes around here and I'm tired of it so I got paper plates and plastic cups so I don't have to worry about washing any dishes for awhile." She explained. "Quinn, will you be a dear and put these in the cabinet?" Maribel pointed to a specific cabinet where all the plates and cups are stored.

"Sure."

Quinn took the plates and cups from Maribel then put them in the cabinet she had pointed to. Although it was a simple enough task, she spotted something strange behind a pile of glass plates. It shimmered in the light and it looked to be round in shape with a smooth surface.

She gently pushed the pile of plates aside to get a closer look at the object and was confused to see a crystal. Quinn could ask Maribel what it was doing behind the plates, though, something in her gut told her not to. Instead she smoothly put it inside of her dress pocket. Maybe her parents would know what it was.

"So what have you girls been up to?" Maribel asked once all of the food was put away. "I hope you weren't having sex."

"Mami!" Santana shouted, her face red, embarrassed.

"What?" Maribel innocently asked. "You don't think your papi and I haven't seen the puppy eyes you two have been giving to each other? We weren't born yesterday, mija."

Santana covered her face with her hands and shook her head whilst mumbling something in Spanish.

"I think that's my cue to go home." Quinn said. Her face also red with embarrassment.

"I'll walk you out." Santana quickly said. She then took Quinn by the hand and rushed her girlfriend to the front door. "I am so sorry about that."

Quinn chuckled. "It's okay. It would be weird if our parents didn't embarrass us at least once, right?"

Santana smiled. "I guess so."

The girls got silent and awkward.

"I really want to kiss you right now." Quinn admitted. "But.." She smiled.

"You mean you don't want to kiss me after my mami asked if we had sex?" She joked.

"Not particularly, no." Quinn bit her lip shyly. "Would you settle for a kiss on the cheek?"

"Sure."

The blonde leaned forward, tilted her head, and placed a lingering kiss to Santana's cheek. "I'll see you soon."

"M'kay." Santana mumbled.

Quinn got into her car and drove away, honking her horn as she did. She was on cloud nine all the way home as she blasted Taylor Swift music and sang along. Being with Santana always put her in a good mood but this time was different. Now that she was certain Santana was her tether and mate, she felt even closer, and more protective; if possible, to the Latina. And her wolf felt the same. Being with Santana now was tethermateloverbitebitebite. It was glorious.

At the house, she was quietly singing a Taylor Swift song as she walked inside. She heard Russell talking from his office but she almost didn't pay him any mind as she went to the kitchen to get something to eat until she remembered the crystal she found at the Lopez home. Quinn redirected from the refrigerator to the office. Russell was on the phone.

"Thanks again for all of your help. I'll talk to you soon…alright, take care." He ended the call then turned his attention to Quinn. "Hi, sweetie." he smiled. "How is Santana? It worries your mother and I that she is home alone. We've thought about letting you spend the night at the Lopez's as long as Santana's parents are working late at the hospital."

Although it was very tempting to lie, Quinn decided to tell the truth. "Santana is doing good, and as much as I would love that, Maribel decided she didn't want to work so much and came home early today."

"Good. It's not healthy to overexert herself." Russell noticed Quinn holding something in her hand. "What do you have there?" He asked pointing to her hand.

"I don't know. I was hoping you could tell me. I found it at Santana's house." Quinn brought it over to Russell and gave him the crystal. "it looks like a crystal but I don't think it's a normal crystal."

"What makes you say that?" He asked as he examined the crystal, turning it in his hands.

"I found it in the cabinet with the plates. Seems like an odd place to put it."

"I'd say so." Russell agreed. He continued to examine the crystal then shook his head. "I'm sorry, I don't know what it is. I don't think I ever seen anything like it. Maybe Thomas does. I'll bring it up next time I talk to him."

"Was that him on the phone?"

Russell put the crystal on top his desk. "Yeah. He and Gina have started looking into the people on that list they put together. Nothing so far."

Quinn slowly nodded when a thought occurred to her. "What if this coven aren't new to town? What if they have been here for years and something made them come out of hiding?" She asked now even more worried for her tether and mate.

A/N; Anyone suspicious of Brittany, who do you think she went to for help? Got any guesses as to what the crystals are for? Is anyone still reading this story? Lol.
