The Owl Sisters I: Sisters in Demon World Chapter 11-First Day at Hexside

We find ourselves in a dark place. Luz made a ball of light, brightening up the room and revealing her and Eda.

"I'm not ready for this, Eda. Maybe we should go home," Luz said.

Eda shook her head. "No, kid. You've got this. Just remember everything we practiced. Besides, your sister is hanging tough," Eda said, gesturing pointing to Lana, who was pacing the room, muttering something in Spanish and tugging her shirt.

Eda sighed. "Lana, come here!" she called as she grabbed her.

"I'm not the only one who's nervous?" she asked, approaching them.

Luz shook her head. "What if I'm wrong? What if we don't make it? What if we die?" Luz asked.

Eda put her hands on their shoulders. "Hey, hey. Calm down. It's okay to be nervous. I had to do the same thing when I was a witchling. Basically, it's a rite of passage, although I was more skilled with magic," Eda boasted.

"Eda, you're not helping," Lana said.

"Right, right. I'm sorry. Okay, it's your time," she said as she pushed them towards the stage where Principal Bump was waiting for them.

"Let's get started," Bump said, holding a pad and pen.

"From humble beginnings, heroes grow. We traveled from another realm and trained under a powerful witch to master dark and forbidden magic. I am Luz Noceda, and this is my sister Noceda!" Luz announced as she tossed off the cloak from herself and Lana

Bump didn't react at all. Seeing this, Luz awkwardly giggled as she tossed the confetti out of her fanny pack. "Confetti!"

"Dios mío," Lana said quietly, shaking her head.

"Right. Humans who want to be witches. Even though I let you pass the Hexside entrance exam, can you two cast spells with all your human parts?" Bump asked.

They nodded.

"Can you turn off the lights?" Luz asked.

Bump raised an eyebrow before snapping his fingers, turning off the lights in the hall. A small ball of light appeared in the darkness, and then several more flew up to the ceiling, launched by Lana. Luz grabbed the ice glyph and placed it on the ground. She stepped on it, and the pillar of ice lifted her high.

"Ta-dah!" exclaimed the twins from above.

Bump's face showed an impression. "Casting spells with paper. I have never heard or seen such things, and a human found them. Impressive. Welcome to Hexside, Nocedas," Bump said.

Luz and Lana were happy that they had passed and fist-bumped each other.

The next day was the start of a new semester for the students at Hexside and a new beginning for the Noceda siblings. Eda had sent them to Hexside with her staff, and they were both dressed in the school's uniform. Luz wore a light gray tunic with white sleeves, white leggings, and a light gray hood.

"We have to go back. It was a mistake. We'll mess it up again and everyone will see it, " Luz muttered before being cut off.

"Kid, you need to calm down," said Eda, looking around at the children. "What are you nervous about? You used to go to an ordinary school."

"A regular one, not one with magic," Lana said.

"Yeah, that's why I'm nervous," Luz exclaimed. "I didn't make a good first impression in my human school. This is a chance to be seen as someone else and not a loser."

"Hey, don't worry about what those jerks think. If you want my advice, come into the classroom and hit the toughest kid you see to establish dominance," Eda said, trying to calm Luz down.

Luz smiled. "Oh, I won't do that."

"Speak for yourself," Lana said, crossing his arms.

As they landed in front of Hexside, the two students got off the staff and stood on the stone path. They took off their backpacks from their backs and put them on.

"Last chance to back out and earn a new bad girl coven patch," said Eda, showing off the new bad girl coven patch, which was a "Quitter Badge". "Quitting is like trying, but easier," Eda remarked.

"No dice, Owl Lady, The day I quit is when Luz gives up on her fantasy stuff," Lana said. "Bye!"

"Wait!" Eda called out to the kids. They stopped and looked at her as she smiled at them. "Just try not to be too good, make me proud, and create some chaos. Do you understand?"

"Thank you, Eda. Actually..." Luz reached into her pockets and pulled out the sock puppets of herself, Lana, and Eda. "I wrote a heartfelt sonnet to mark this occasion. I'm not sure how I'll fit all three of these puppets on my hands, but here you go, Eda."

But Eda was already flying into the sky. "Oh! I just got a gust of wind. See you after school! Bye!"

The siblings watched her fly away before Luz picked up the puppet of Eda. "You're doing great, kid," she said.

Then two siblings walked onto campus before they bumped into Amity and Mio who walked with an abomination.

"Hey Luz, Lana. Congrats on passing," Amity said.

"And not being in the baby class," Mio added.

Luz smirked.

"You bet we did it. High five!" she said, raising her hand.

The green-haired girl gave her a high-five while, much to Lana's annoyance, they also got a high-five from the abomination in the face.

"Sorry," Amity said as the two walked away and waved goodbye. Luz waved back.

"Our first day in Hexside. A chance to discover our true magical potential," Luz said. And maybe meet a hot but vulnerable upperclassman," she finished.

"You wish!" Suddenly, a familiar voice rang out, startling the two and causing them to turn around and see King climbing out of Luz's backpack.

"King?" The small demon jumped out of Luz's backpack and landed on the ground. "Boop!"

"What the heck are you doing here?" Lana asked.

"You two are my free ride to the best buffet in town!" King said as he jumped up and climbed into the trash can. He rushed out with a half-eaten donut. "The trash cans here are filled with half-eaten gold!"

"Okay, but if anyone asks, you don't know us," Luz said before the two left.

"Have a wonderful school day, people I don't know!" King called after them.

At the main staircase leading to the school, Willow, Gus, and Sunset were waiting for their friends to show up. When they did, they smiled and greeted them. "Guys!" they exclaimed together.

"Hey there, fellow Hexolios."

"Hello, classmates!" Willow said with a wink. "Congratulations on passing the entrance exam!"

In doing so, Gus drew a magic circle and summoned letters that read, "BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!"

"Thank you?" Luz said with an awkward smile as Sunset looked at Gus.

"Sorry, I, uh, covered all my bases," Gus said shyly.

Willow shook her head. "Anyway... Guys, turn around and look at these banners," she said.

The sisters looked up and saw the banners of the nine major covens.

"Each of the banners depicts the heads of each of the nine main covens. Each of them excels at Glandus High School, St. Epiderm, or Hexside. Are you two ready to go through the same corridors as them?" asked Willow.

"That's what we're going to find out," Lana said with a smile.

"See you on the other side, friends," Luz said as they ran up the stairs to head to the Principal's office.

"See you later," Gus called out, more letters flashing on his sign that read, "FAREWELL FOREVER!" And now Willow looked at him again. "You know what? I just have to admit it. I suck at this," admitted the illusionist.

Luz and Lana went to the principal's office and walked in, seeing Principal Bump himself.

"What's up, Mr. B?" Lana said.

Principal Bump looked at him sternly. "Do not call me that. Now, today, the Emperor's Coven will visit us for a routine check. If we want to impress them, you need to join the Coven track before they arrive."

"Principal Bump, I made my schedule," Luz said as she pulled out a long scroll that unfolded on his desk, much to her brother's surprise, while Bump raised an eyebrow at this as she continued. "First, the veterinary care of the mythical beasts, then Healing and Dealing, and then after lunch..."

Looking at the list, Principal Bump laughed. "Study multiple tracks at the same time? Nobody does that."

He then holds up a rule book with the Emperor's Coven Logo on it.

"According to the rules, a good witch must focus. You can only choose one of the nine tracks." He pointed to the track banners above him. "And you don't want to embarrass me in front of the inspector."

"So, we can only pick one track and no callbacks?" Lana asked.

"Correct."

"We in that case, I'll take this one," Lana showed him Dragon Threat.

"Ah yes, The Weapornay Track! Seeing how you wield that trident it's perfect for you," The principal said as he changed her clothing to navy blue. "And what about you Miss Luz?"

"Yeah, it's hard to choose," Lucio said, not knowing which track to pick.

"Then I'll choose one for you," Bump said, running his finger over the banners. "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe!" He landed on the yellow banner. "Oh, yes! Potions track. You humans are filled with liquids, right?" Bump cast a spell that changed the tunic and hood of Luz's uniform leggings and sleeves to yellow.

"Oh, I guess I've always enjoyed pouring things into other things," Luz said, looking down at her uniform.

"I expect you to do your best," the Principal said as he walked over and glanced at a corkboard with photos of the results of Noceda's previous visits to Hexside. "Given the costly repairs following the recent incidents, we could use a donation from the Emperor's Coven. Now, go to class."

With Lana, she had entered Weaponry 101 and took her seat along with other students who had a wide array of different weapons which she did as well. The teacher addresses her students.

"Welcome to a new semester! We will begin the day with combat practice. But before we're going to see if you're eligible for it, " She said to them before handing them a piece of paper.

"If you score high enough, then you'll be taken to the field, while the rest will do a study guide. So let's get started."

"This doesn't look too hard, I'll just crush this test and then do some actual combat."

After the test, Lana and some other Weaponry students are led out into the field where Sunset and her opponent had just walked back into the crowd.

"Yo, bacon head!"

Sunset looks to see Lana waving to her joy.

"Lana!"

She ran over to her as the rest of Weaponry students joined the crowd.

"I saw how you owned that oracle dude, you were a total boss out there!" Lana said to her.

"Thanks, I've been practicing, I'm just glad that Willow is doing a lot better now that she switched to the Plant Track."

"Come on, all she needed was a push in the right direction."

"Alright, students. It's time for the next duel. And as usual. I'll be picking at random," Bump addresses everyone then Lana and Sunset joined the crowd and took their seats.

"Now who to pick," Bump said, eying the students.

He eyed all the students, some of which are eager to be chosen. Then he spots his newest one, Lana.

"Lana."

"What?" Lana was surprised.

"How would you like to have your first witch's duel at Hexside?" He asked.

"Me?! Heck to the yeah, I would! And right off the bat!"

Lana walks over and Bump presents her to the other students.

"Everyone, meet our newest student straight from the Human Realm: Lana the Human. I believe most of you are familiar with him.

"Yo," Lana said.

"Hey, it's that human from the Covention!"

"She's hideous."

"Says the one who's a freaking troll," Lana shot.

"Now, Lana. Since you are a new student, I would normally have you face our students to get a full grasp of your skills so could be shown the ropes. However, since you defeated Mio in the Covention," He said, which most of the students gasped. "I'll have to pair with one of our top five."

"That would be me," A student said as she walked down to the battlefield with most students cringing.

She was a Pegasus Pony Hybrid, with vibrant blue skin, mesmerizing rainbow hair, and captivating magenta eyes, and over top of her uniform with colors of Construction Coven, a white shirt featuring a cloud with a rainbow bolt bursting forth and she had a scar on her face.

"Shit, It's Rainbow Dash!"

"Dear god…"

Lana narrows her eyes upon seeing her.

"And you are?"

"The name's Rainbow Dash. Are you Lana, right? The one who punches Boscha's third eye?"

"Yeah, I'm not a big fan of hers."

"Neither am I, and I need some serious venting from earlier today."

Lana and Rainbow walk some distance from each other and then look at each other ready to fight as Bump stands at the center as referee.

"Last warning, you sure want to do this?" Rainbow asked, cracking her knuckles.

"Oh I'm sure I want to do this," Lana assured, placing her scarf on.

"Alright, are you ready?" Bump asked them.

Rainbow did a spell circle and summoned two lighting bolts in her hands.

"Ready!"

Lana brought out her trident and twirled it around then had it the end point on the ground then got to a fight stance.

"Let's do this!"

"Then match, begin!"

Rainbow started to bring her lightning bolts and threw them at Lana who swung around her trident to deflect them just as Rainbow fired an ice ball at her Lana ducked underneath and fired three electric blade slashes at her but Rainbow used her wings and flew just as they came at her but the slashes missed then landed.

Rainbow came at Lana throwing 3 punches only for Lana to dodge by leaning her head left and right. Then she tried to punch Rainbow who dodged before doing a lighting kick that Lana catches and redirects it into the air.

"Now that's shocking!" Lana exclaimed.

"Oh shut up!" Rainbow shot back

Rainbow tried to throw a punch but Lana yanked it and spun her around making her stumble a bit and Lana did a weak elbow to the back. She cries out hitting on her face, losing her lighting aura.

"Wow!" The students are in awe of Lana's skills.

"Is… Rainbow losing?"

"It's not Lana's even trying," Mio said as she was seeing the battle as well as Boscha who gritted her teeth.

"Impressive. We just might have ourselves a new star student," Bump holds his chin, impressed.

As Rainbow got up, Lana had her trident on her shoulder with a grin.

"Come on, skittles! Is that all you got? I thought you were in the top five at Hexside?" Lana taunted her.

"I'm going to enjoy wiping that smile off your face!" She remarked.

She did a spell circle and created an ice ball and she charged with lighting.

"No way, she can handle Rainbow's lighting-ice ball combo," Skara smirked at this.

"Think fast!"

Rainbow kicked it like a soccer ball and Lana quickly ducked.

"There's more where that came from!"

She created 3 more and fired but Lana sliced all three which exploded as Lana kept her composure.

"Lightning-ice ball. Not bad!"

"I'm getting started!"

She kicked more of her ice balls at her but Lana continued to dodge each one with no problem.

"Alright, let's bring the heat!" Lana as she brought a whole new glyph, this one having a fire symbol. She placed it on the ground and quite literally a ball of fire was summoned.

"What the.." Rainbow was surprised as well as Boscha's gang.

"It seems I have left you speechless," Lana said then kicked it and it hit Rainbow in the stomach making her skid back as now most of her chest had burn marks.

The students cringe a little, with most of them enjoying every minute of it.

"That had to hurt," Sunset giggles just as one of them takes a pic.

"I can't believe that Rainbow's losing to her!" Boscha was furious.

"How the hell was she able to use a fire spell!" Cat shrieked.

Rainbow grunts as she sits up, glaring at Lana who is grinning.

"Well?" Lana asked with a sly remark the Rainbow got herself back up.

"Like I said before, I'm getting started!" Rainbow shouted.

She made two spell circles and brought them together to form a white blade with the symbol of a wave, a lightning bolt, a tornado, and a snowflake. She created an ice pillar aimed at Lana who quickly flips and dodges it.

"Wow, nice blade! I didn't know there was another magic blade like that!"

"Nice huh, I called it, Storm Blade, it can do more than that," She exclaimed as she charged with wind magic. "This bad boy got tweaked by Blight Industries. You're about to blow away."

She fired a wind blade slash at Lana but to her surprise, she rode it like a surfboard.

"Yeah! Time to hang some serious air!" Lana cheered as she jumped from it

Then she headed to Rainbow who had Storm Blade in hand and both of them clashed with their swords then both did a power slash only for both to get sent back.

"Let's see that trident beat this!" She shouted as she twirled her sword the symbol glowed and sent a powerful sword beam. "Four Element Slash!"

Lana placed four glyphs, Fire, Ice, Light, and Lighting on her Trident and blasted a beam from it. "Four Element Blast!"

Both slash and blast were about to collide in the center and to everyone's shock and amazement the blast went right through the slash and caused it to blow up. The explosion sent Rainbow flying into the back of the arena losing her grip on her sword. When she tried to get up, Lana stood on her shoulder and wrist, pointing Dragon Threat at her throat with a triumphant grin. Rainbow was surprised that was beaten.

"Bada bing, that's your head."

"Who the hell are you?"

"Me? Nobody," Lana smirks as she rests her trident on her shoulder. Just a non-magic but total badass human who served a slice of humble pie to you."

Lana helped her up and both shook hands.

"I'd say we have a winner. Excellent performance Lana. Well done!" Bump applauds as the students clap except for Boscha and her gang.

"Wow! That human is so cool!"

"Is she single?"

"I take back any mean thing I said to her or the other one!"

Much later, the bell would ring or scream. Students were walking down the hallway, conversing with each other. Lana had some books and stood by her locker which was alive, confused as she didn't know how to open it.

"How does it work?" Lana asked.

"Lana!"

She turns around to see Luz, Willow, and Gus run over to her, giving them a wave.

"Quid usque guys?"

"You're what's up!? Sunset told me what happened in combat training! You kicked butt! And not anyone's butt! You kicked Rainbow's butt! Is that true!?" Gus asked.

"Yeah, piece of cake, And learn a new glyph," Lana said. "But I'm going to lie, she was good. But I wish to pair with Boscha so wipe her grin off her face. And how do potions class work for you, Luz?"

"Just fine," Luz smiled. "I impress everyone with potion making. But you made quite the impression better than I did."

"And the first time that I ever said this, I like school!" Lana admitted. "And it turns out that there are several types of devils."

"Seriously?" Luz asked Willow and Gus.

"Yeah, they are. Devils were the most powerful warrior demons alive," Willow said.

"They're real masters with weapons and weaponry magic, And could do a lot more, but too bad we can't see since they're banned from Isles," Gus sighed.

"How come?" Both asked.

"Since a really powerful one tried to kill the emperor," Willow explained.

"Hold the phone. This place has an emperor?" Lana asked.

"Yeah, Emperor Belos. He rules the entire Boiling Isles and ensures order through it. He created the Coven System to keep magic from going out of control," Gus explained.

"So, he's the reason why witches join covens?" Luz asked.

"Yup, And he's well-loved because of it, He has a lot of supporters around the Isles."

"So who's the devil who tried to kill Belos, anyway?"

"He was a famous one! The Shadow Knight, Archer!"

"Archer!?" Lana was shocked. That's the name of one of Celestia's friends! Could it be the same guy!?"

"So let me get this straight, you're saying that Archer guy tried to kill the emperor and almost came close to which he made all devils be banished from Isles completely? Seems a little extreme, isn't it?" Luz said.

"Yeah, at least he didn't try to kill them, am I right?"

"Okay, changing the subject, I've got to class see you dudes, later," Lana said to them.

Once she left, she continued to walk, giving some thought about the emperor.

"So he's the reason behind the Coven System, making Eda and Celestia most wanted and banishing an entire species out of fear. If I ever meet him I'm going punch his face," Lana said.

Timeskip

In the cafeteria, Lana had her lunch and was trying to find someone where to sit.

"Hey, trident girl! Over here," Rainbow called her as she was sitting with two other students. The first one was another Pegasus Hybrid with butterfly barttets and the other was Earth Pony Hybrid wearing a Stenson Hat.

"Hey, Rainbow. Who are you two?"

"I'm Fluttershy, I'm in Plant Track with Willow."

"Name's Applejack, so you're Lana Noceda."

"Yeah."

"Still can't believe that you were able to kick Rainbow's butt in the duel or even put Boscha in her place," Applejack remarked.

"I can do a lot of things that you can only began to think," Lana smirked. "I was wondering did any of you happened to see Luz. She's my twin sister."

"I think she got herself in detention," Fluttershy said.

"What!? How she get detention already?" Lana asked.

"Appernalty she did some magic that violate the Coven Track System," Rainbow said.

"Yeah, or someone that major axe to grind me and use my sister to do it," Lana thought of one person who go low enough to spite her. "Boscha. Oh when I get my hands on her, she going to regret messing with me or my sister. She'll gets what comes to her, later. I need something to take care of first."

She heads out of the cafeteria.

With Princpal Bump he was meeting with an inspector, that was actually a magic draining monster.

"Welcome to Hexside, inspector."

"Greetings, Principal Bump. If everything's in order, the Emperor's Coven will be happy to cover your repairs."

"Excellent. Please come this way. We've prepared a show with some of our finest students."

Honoured to have been picked to give the inspector a presentation on behalf of her class, Mio made sure she gave the best performance she could. As the abomination stomped on stage, it growled and held Mio up like a figure skater. Together, they posed, showing just how in sync she was with her creation. She's put down.

"And that concludes the presentation from the Abomination Track."

Mio and her abomination bow. Bump and a couple other students from the Abomination track applaud her.

"That was some real Hexside magic, huh?"

"Yes, this is... good!" A sinister grin appears on her. "But let's see if your student can put up more of a fight!"

"Wait, what?" Bump raised an eyebrow.

She stood up and walked to the stage before Principal Bump could have a moment to process what she said as she threw her clipboard away.

Mio, not sure what was going on, just stood there as the inspector approached her with this evil look in her eyes. Something wasn't right. And that thought was only amplified when the inspector slammed her hands down on the stage.

The young witch watched in horror as the inspector's face deformed, revealing a hideous-looking creature that retained the hairstyle, except her skin turned pale yellow, and her green eyes became frog-like and droopy. She grew webbed ears, and her head elongated to form a mouth that could open up abnormally wide with razor-sharp teeth to swallow its prey.

And the way she was looking at Mio while licking its face, the cat-eared witch knew she was next on the menu. Bump stared in shock while the other students ran.

"Is…uh…this part of the inspection?" He asked.

"Abomation, fight!"

Her abomation runs forward and grabs the inspector. The inspector fully transformed. Her body turned into a massive serpentine-like creature as her clothes tore and widened, her hands turned into claws, and sharp scales formed on her arms. No longer needing to hide her true form, she flung the abomination into the air, before opening her mouth and swallowing the abomination. It slithers toward Mio, who backs away in fear.

"The magic at Glandus High was tasty. But I hope yours will be more filling."

"Mio, stay back, this is a imposter."

About to attack, Principal Bump drew out a spell circle. However, the inspector was faster. She opened her mouth as wide as she could and inhaled, swallowing the spell circle. But it wasn't just the circle. Bump's skin turned grey, and he collapsed on the ground as his magic was drained from his body and eaten by the monster. He collapsed to the ground and the creatures grabs Mio who screams in fear and horror.

Meanwhile Lana was running down the hallaway.

"I hope I'm not too late!" Lana said.

Back with Mio, she had enough to do a fire spell that explodes on the Inspector's face causing her to release her and the young witch quickly runs for it with the creature following behind. To her surprise, she sees Lana running as well.

"Mio," Lana was shocked. "What the hell happened to you? You look just had a encounter with death itself."

"I think I just did! You guys have gotta help me! A monster's attacking the school and it sucked the magic out of Principal Bump. It almost got me too!"

"A monster?"

"First it looked like an Inspector from the Emperor's Coven and then it shapeshifted into a giant snake-like monster with horrible teeth."

"Whoa…"

"Where are the others?"

"Willow, Gus, and Sunset are trying bust Luz out detention… Holy shit! What the hell?"

She points over to the Oracle Teacher is running away from the monster, which is taking over most of a hallway. The teacher stops and casts a beam of light. The inspector slurps the beam of light up like spaghetti. The teacher falls, drained of magic and turns pale grey. Lana and Mio screamed in horror.

"Sweet more cute morsels!"

"I'm nobody morsel!" Mio summnoned her Moon Ring and Lana brought her trident.

But before they could do anything the inspector inhales sucking Mio's magic and magic out of Dragon, reverting it to normal much to Lana's shock. What was surprising was Lana didn't turn pale like the others, reason being because he doesn't have magic in her to suck away.

"What the… she sucked the magic out my trident… Mio!" To her horror has been drained and groaned as she falls back. "Mio!

Lana quickly catches her and glares at the sadistic creature.

"What the hell did you do her?"

"I devoured their magic, and it was quite a feast. Thought it seems I accidentally missed dessert. I'll rectify that now."

She tries to suck out his life but to her shock Lana holds his ground and doesn't get drained like everyone else.

"What!? What is this!? Why can't I drain your magic!?"

"Whatever the hell you are you might be able to suck the magic out of demons, but I'm human! Who needs magic when you can do this!?"

Lana charges forward and delivers an electrified slash across the inspector's chest. She cries out in pain and stumbles back, a gash formed on her chest just as Lana brings out his notepad with the Light-Glyph drawn on.

"Eat this snake!"

She tosses the notepad into the inspector's mouth. The spell activates, exploding inside her she screams, spewing out shredded paper.

"Boom, nail it!"

Timeskip…

"And that what happen," Lana told her story to Celestia.

"So not only kick on their best students, but save the school from hunger serpent, and saved Bosha from a Bailsk," Celestia recap everything.

"Yeah, that part sucked, since she started this whole, and Luz is muti-track student."
