The train stopped in East City after a few hours.

Tanjiro stretched. "So…you are heading to Demon Slayer Headquarters?"

Kuri turned sharply. "How did you know?"

"That's where I'm going," Tanjiro said. "Hey, did you have lunch yet? I ate, but not you."

"I ate on the train," Kuri said. "While you were sleeping."

"Well that's good, I guess," Tanjiro said. "I wouldn't want anyone to go hungry."

Kuri nodded appreciatively. It made him wonder if maybe she had gone hungry before.

She was really skinny, like she barely ate at all. Maybe because she used to work as a maid and there was barely time to eat.

"I remember this city so well," Kuri said. "Are you guys coming? You said you're a Demon Slayer, right? Well, you're sister would probably come here if she was lost."

They proceeded to the Headquarters offices.

"Hey, it's you!" Shinobu said, coming down the hallway. "It's Kuri, right? Please tell me you've come to see him. He still has that old frayed picture you sent him."

"Oh Hi, Shinobu!" Kuri said, holding two fingers to the sky. "Yeah, I'm here to see my older brother. He hasn't made it to Hashira yet, has he?"

"Wait…" Tanjiro said. "You're Giyuu's sister?"

"What?" Shinobu said. "H-He has a sister? He never told me…when we went out…"

Kuri twitched. "That bastard! He didn't hurt you did he?"

"Kuri!" Tanjiro headbutted her (gently). "You can't talk about him like that! You may not be on speaking terms with him, but he is your brother!"

Kuri rubbed the spot on her head that had been hit. "You really have no idea what that means."

Kuri stalked away, fully intending to storm into Giyuu's room and tell him 'I told you so', when she ran smack into a young girl in a hemp kimono. She recognized her.

"Hey you must be Nezuko," she said.

"Mm!" Nezuko nodded, receiving head pats.

"You're looking for your brother, ne?" Kuri took her hand and led her back to Tanjiro.

Tanjiro caught up with his sister in half a second.

"Nezuko!" He yelled, running forward. She hit him across the face.

"Aw, Easy, I'm sorry for leaving you!" he sputtered.

"Hmph!" Nezuko said, clenching her fists at her side and trying to keep from crying, and hiding in her box.

"Don't be mean," Tanjiro sighed. "I'm your older brother, and—"

"I hate to interrupt your reunion, " Shinobu said. "But have you seen Kuri?"

"I just saw her," Tanjiro said. "She's sitting on the bench outside Giyuu's room."

"Oh no…" Shinobu said. "I have to go."

She hurried down the hall. The Kamado siblings followed her, Nezuko in the lead.

Kuri was just sitting on the bench when the door opened.

"Shinobu, I thought you were—" Giyuu stopped midsentence. He stared into the eyes of his little sister.

At that moment, Shinobu and the Kamado siblings came down the hall.

"Lotis Breathing Demon Slayer, Kuri Tomioka," Kuri said. "Here to report on my mission in the mountains. I met this boar guy—."

"Your a Demon Slayer?" Tanjiro exclaimed."Not just any…but the Lotis Breather?"

Kuri laughed. "Yes, well…I guess that's me."

She hopped up and poked Giyuu in the chest. "Finally a Hashira, brother?"

Giyuu glared at her. "No I'm not. Heard you were working at a Wisteria House."

Kuri's hands went to her mouth. "Oh!" she said in mock-surprise. "Have you been spying on me, big brother? You never would leave me alone."

Tanjiro looked like he was going to have a conniption. "B-Brother?"

"Yeah, Creepy Giyuu is my brother," Kuri admitted through clenched teeth. "We don't speak anymore. Well until today."

"You should watch how you speak to your older brother, Kuchi," Giyuu said to her. "What's your report, and why are you here?"

"Stop calling me Kuchi! It's not like I'm four! Here's my report," Kuri said, handing him a folder. "And I'm here for legal emancipation."

"Y-You're what?" Giyuu was rendered speechless.

"Wait…you mean…you don't want him as your guardian?" Tanjiro said. "Isn't that a little harsh? I mean, he is your big brother!"

"Kuri has been working at that dead end job saving up for legal emancipation since she was thirteen," Shinobu said. "Ever since their big fight…"

"DON'T MENTION IT!" Giyuu and Kuri said at the same time.

Tanjiro hit the wall hard, making cracks. "It doesn't matter. You two are both acting stupid. Kuri, he's your older brother. There's no reason to take such drastic measures to get away from him!"

"Mm!" Nezuko said, emphatically.

"I'm not…" Kuri hissed. "He abandoned me! At Urokodaki's! He went off to fight a damn war and left me alone! And then when we saw each other again and I could handle myself, because I became a Demon Slayer too, he got angry and said—"

"Kuchi! That is enough!" Giyuu said angrily. "You aren't emancipating yourself. You're moving back home."

"Like hell," Kuri said, glaring at him. "I knew coming here was a mistake. You'll never change, brother."

She started to leave, but Tanjiro grabbed her arm. "Nice try. Now stop acting like a ten-year-old. Why don't you travel with us? I owe you for reuniting me with Nezuko, and you're smart, I'm sure you can help us. And in return, you can't emancipate yourself from Giyuu."

"I like that deal," Giyuu said. "Tanjiro will keep you in line and out of trouble."

Kuri sighed. Normally she wouldn't agree…but something about the wide, soulful, and completely righteous look Tanjiro was giving her…

"Agreed then. I guess I'll need a new life-long goal…"

Tanjiro beamed. "I can help with that!"
