In Wonderland, in Mallow Marsh, Rabbit landed upon the dock while Arisu and Hide land on the soft marsh and bounced a bit until they find their balance. There were dragonflies soaring around above in the air.

"Hm, humans." Rabbit said dismissively.

"I hate...this damn...place!" Hide groaned.

"Careful, Knave." Arisu cautioned. "We've landed in the Mallow Marsh."

"Of course, we did." Hide sighed. "Because a pond made out dessert topping makes perfect sense."

"Come on! Shake a leg. Shake two legs." Rabbit laughed. Arisu and Hide walked towards the dock. "Ugh, what a mess."

"Okay, Rabbit." Arisu looked at her. "Where's Kaneki? Tell us where you saw him."

"Well, I didn't exactly see him." Rabbit turned to the Knave. "Did you tell her I saw him?"

"That is what you said."

"Well, it was a figure of speech."

"Nope! I'm pretty sure it wasn't."

"What I meant was I was having coffee with the Devil Ape and he said that he saw him."

"So we came all the way here on the word of a crazy monkey."

Arisu smacked Hide. "Ignore him, Rabbit. Go on."

"He said Kaneki was at the Owl's old place, Anteiku," Rabbit continued. "It's abandoned. The Owl, he hasn't been in Wonderland for quite some time."

"And he ain't never coming back!" Hide groused. "He's found himself a nice little life back in a place where I was making mine. A place I might add, where the dragonflies aren't actually dragons! Rabbit, are you getting taller?"

"Quite possibly." Rabbit said conversationally. "That kind of thing happens quite a lot around here."

"We're sinking." Knave tried to loosen himself from the marsh. "I can't move my feet."

"Rabbit, where is it?" Arisu asked. "Where's Anteiku?"

"Where else?" Rabbit said. The Tulgey Woods."

"Knave, we need to get out of here."

"Really?" Knave said sarcastically.

"Ah, everything's gonna be fine. I'll just, ah, ah, ah—" She lifted her kagune. "I'll go get help. Don't worry! Everything's gonna work out just fine."

"Stop moving!" Arisu cried. "We'll just sink faster."

"Oh, because a slow death is so much more pleasant. This is humiliating. I'm gonna die like a damn s'more." Hide complained. "Ghouls don't even EAT food, this makes no sense—"

"A what?"

"A s'more." Hide clarified. "It's graham crackers and chocolate and you get toasted marshmallow—nevermind. The point is we're gonna die."

"Knave, that's brilliant!" Arisu grabbed one of the dragonflies flitting around and squeezed the creature into spitting out a breath of fire onto the marsh..

"What the hell are you doing?" Hide cried.

"I'm making a sore." Arisu said incorrectly.

"S'mores!"

"Whatever."

Hide deadpanned. "I'm starting to think you were in the asylum for a reason."

"See." She let the dragonfly go. The marsh had became solid enough to walk upon. "Come on." She grabbed the Knave's hand and they pulled each other out.
Moments later, they were cleaning themselves up.

"Where's that Rabbit?" He whacked his jacket on the side of the deck to get the marshmallow off. "It's getting late and I'm planning on sleeping in my own bed tonight."

"You can't leave. We haven't found Kaneki-"

"Kaneki. Exactly. You heard what the Rabbit said, she never even saw him. If I'd known that I wouldn't have done any of this. I mean, for all we know he isn't even alive."

"What if he is?"

"Arisu. I left Wonderland because I did a lot of bad things here. A lot of people want to see me dead. They have their reasons. And to be honest, they're good reasons. I left this place for a future I'm hoping to see. And you want me to risk all that for a hunch." He walked away.

"I can pay you."

The Knave returned. "How? You don't have anything to pay me, Arisu."

"That's not entirely true. I have something better than money." She twisted the heel of her shoe to reveal a hidden compartment and took something out. "Wishes." She held three tiny red diamond shaped jewels in the palm of her hand.

"I don't get it. Why don't you just use them to bring Kaneki back?"

"Wishes can be... unpredictable. If I use one to bring Kaneki back, he might arrive...hanging from a tree with a noose around his neck. See, with wishes sometimes there's literally a string attached."

"Then one just has to be careful what they wish for. Make it consequence proof. Yeah, I can do that."

"So does that mean you'll stay?"

"We find Kaneki, I get a wish. Anything I want."

"Just get me to Tulgey Woods." Arisu returned the wishes into her shoe heel.

"You're ready to believe the Rabbit, then?"

"I know you have your doubts, but yes, I believe the Rabbit."
