When Natsu and Erza returned back home, they were immediately bombarded by their family, asking multiple different questions. "Is this really true, Erza? Are you really joining Natsu's band?" Lucy asked with a small frown, knowing full good and well that means that her and Natsu wouldn't be at the guild much anymore.
Erza smiled, holding Natsu's hand with a firm nod. "That Is correct, yes."
"Does that mean we won't see you that much?" Mira frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. "Same goes for Natsu as well."
"Unfortunately yes that will be the case, but don't fret we will make time for our family. Fairy Tail always comes first before anything," she placed her hand over her chest with a bright grin. "That's a promise."
Everyone seemed to smile at that, before they made way for Makarov who wheeled himself up to the couple. "Erza, Natsu, kids that I've raised for years. I can't tell you how proud I am of the people you've become. It warms this old man's heart to see you two together with a stronger bond than anyone can break. Always know wherever you two go, whatever you might do," he flashed them the widest grin he could possibly muster. "You will always be welcome at Fairy Tail."
Natsu and Erza smiled, bowing down to Makarov. "Thank you Master, for everything," they both said in unison with honor and love.
"Woah woah, wait!" Gray interjected in between the crowd with a slight scowl. "You're kicking them out of the guild?!"
Everyone's eyes widened at that, glaring at their master in anger. "Master! You just said they were always welcome to Fairy Tail, why do they have to leave?"
"I can answer that for him," Natsu stepped up with a nervous smile. "Since my music career is about to sky rocket after Crocus, my band mates have told me we are getting offers from everywhere, even outside of Fiore. And since Erza is a member, we both have to go when we're called, so officially we're no longer mages, but if a threat comes to Fairy Tail," A flame had surrounded his body, practically changing the whole rooms temperature. "You bet your ass we'll come back in a matter of seconds, no matter where we are."Erza summoned her sword to hold it out in front of herself with a fierce, determined glare. "I swore an oath to protect this guild with my life, I don't go back on my promises."
"Alright, alright, we get it," Gray waved his hand with a small playful grin. "So when do you both leave?"
"In a week, we're headed to Alvarez," Natsu grinned, baring his fangs. "They said as part of the peace treaty with Fiore, they would love to have my band over to play."
Happy stepped up with a quivering lip. "Natsu..."
Natsu leaned down to open his arms to his foster son. "Come on buddy, don't cry. Lisanna will be here to look after you, unless you want to go with us which you are more than welcome to."
Happy flew into his arms, hugging the man who has raised him for so many years with all of his strength. "I don't want you to go... but I know you have to. I'm happy for you, Natsu, you and Erza both. It just won't be the same without you two."
"We'll visit as much as we can Happy, I promise," Erza gently ruffled the top of his head with a warm smile. "This isn't goodbye forever."
Natsu hugged Happy tightly to his chest, rubbing the top of his head. "What she said, bud, we'll definitely come back as soon as we can. It's see you later, not a goodbye I would never do that to you. Now keep your mother company, and grow strong along with everyone else," he pulled the feline away with a sad smile. "Can you do that for me?"
"A-aye sir!" Happy saluted his father with a smile. "You can count on me."
"A-alright you brats! No more crying here. LET'S PARTY AND GIVE NATSU AND ERZA A PROPER SEND OFF!" Makarov roared to the top of his lungs as everyone matched his energy in kind.
The guild broke out into a riot, chairs being thrown, drinks being had. Natsu sat with Erza at the barstool as she savored her cake. "Gonna really miss this place," the salmon haired mage sighed softly, watching everyone break into a brawl. "But I think of this new chapter as our next great adventure."
Erza swallowed some of her delectable sweet before turning to him. "An adventure I look forward to with you, my dragon," she leaned in to kiss his lips as he did the same, until a chair flew in their direction, crashing into Natsu as he smashed into Erza, taking out her cake in the process.
Everyone froze on the spot, noticing the scarlet knight's cake on the floor. All colors drained out of their faces, noticing a familiar red aura surrounded Erza as she stood up. Her hair shadowed her eyes, gritting her teeth. "My cake was destroyed thanks to you IDIOTS!"
"WERE SORRY MAM!" They exclaimed in unison, nearly making a break for the door before they stopped to hear... laughing? Their eyes went back to Erza and nearly shot wide open. Erza was laughing to the top of her lungs, almost unnerving Natsu, who took a step away from his girlfriend.
"Divine punishment will come to all of you!" Erza re-quipped into her heart kreuz armor with a savage grin. "One last punishment for the road!"
"Oh yeah!" Natsu punched his fists together with a feral grin as his clothes were engulfed in flames, replacing it with his sleeveless vest, white shorts, and sandles as his scaly scarf bellowed in the wind. "Let's rumble!" He leaped forward into the crowd, landing a good right hook on Gray who was sent flying across the guildhall.
Erza peeled off the wooden floor in seconds, kicking Elfman across the guild with a giggle. Everyone smiled and roared, rushing at each other. Makarov rubbed his temple in irritation, knowing full good and well by the time they finished the hall would be in ruins. "At least you have the maturity not to -" he turned to talk to Guildharts before his face paled slowly, moving his over into the group.
"Come at me, brats! I'm ready to let loose!" Guildharts threw off his cloak, grinning ear to ear.
"YOU'LL DESTROY THE GUILDHALL YOU IDIOTS!!!" The old man cried in despair, sinking in his wheelchair with a groan.
Natsu and Erza shared a look, the biggest smiles never leaving their face. 'I love this family.'
A week had long since passed as Natsu stood in front of the guildhall with somber smiles. Natsu slung his pack over his shoulder as Erza had opted to just pack a couple of suit cases. She didn't need all of her things. Thanks to the owner of Fairy Hills, Erza could come and go when she pleases. Everyone stood out front, some with tears, some with sad smiles, knowing this was a bittersweet goodbye to the couple.
"Natsu, Erza please remove your guild marks," Makarov said with a somber tone, trying his best not to cry.
They both nodded, focusing their magic as their marks slowly but shortly vanished in a blink of an eye. Natsu touched his shoulder with a small smile, Erza rubbing where hers was. "Give us a proper send-off gramps. We're ready to hear them."
Makarov cleared his throat, "of course. Number one, you must not under any circumstances reveal any sensitive information about Fairy Tail for as long as you both live," he took a deep breath, choking up on his tears that he failed to keep at bay. "N-number two you must never use contacts met through the guild for personal gain..." the older man could barely keeping it together, breaking both the young mage's hearts. "And last but not least though our paths have diverged, you both must continue to live life with everything you h-have.. never look at your life as insignificant, and most importantly, never forget about your friends, and... damn it never forget about your family here at Fairy Tail!" He put his thumb and index finger up as an L shape, facing his wrist forward in the air as did everyone else. "We will watch over you, no matter where or how far you are. Because you are FAMILY!"Natsu and Erza had tears in their eyes, not attempting to wipe them as they flowed. "D-damn it gramps that was perfect!"
"W-well said master!" Erza's lip quivered, clenching her fist tightly.
Makarov opened his arms to them as they damn near tackled him out of his wheelchair, sobbing their hearts out. Everyone watched with smiles and tears, knowing they were hurting, but this was the path chosen before them both, and they must walk it. Eventually, they separated from the hug.Gray walked up to Natsu, punching him square in the chest with a smirk. "Stay out of trouble, Flamebrain."
The dragon slayer returned the punch with his own little smirk. "I could say the same thing to you Ice Princess," he pulled the ice make into a tight, brotherly hug. "Take care of yourself, Gray and treat Juvia right."
Gray was caught off guard, but he couldn't help but return the hug, patting the slayer on the back. "You too, Natsu. Erza keep this idiot in check," he grinned, shoving the slayer away playfully.
"We all know that's a near impossible task, Gray," she hugged him as well with a smile as he returned it.
Lucy and Wendy walked up to the couple, wiping away their tears. "We're gonna miss you guys, please call once in a while," Lucy pulled both Natsu and Erza into a hug as they returned it in kind.
Wendy shuffled her feet in front of Natsu with a small blush. He grinned, opening his arms wide open for her as she tackled him immediately, clutching onto her older brother. "Please come back to visit..." she sniffled against his chest as he rubbed the back of her head with a warm smile. "It's a promise, little sis."
"Hey, Natsu," Natsu turned to see Guildharts standing in front of him with a small grin. "Hey there, old man, come to cry as well?"
The middle-aged man laughed, running a hand through his hair. "Nope, just here to wish my stepson good luck in his future with his lady friend," he gestured to Erza, who was currently hugging Mira. "You have a long road ahead of you, brat, don't stray off of it or I will find you."
Natsu chuckled, bringing the man into a hug. "I love you too, step dad."
Tears bursted out of the crash mage's eyes as he clutched onto Natsu tightly. "I'm so damn proud of the man you've become, boy... now get out of here. You got a new exciting adventure ahead of the both of you."
"Will do Guildharts, will do."
After many heartfelt goodbyes, Natsu and Erza turned away, walking down the cobblestone path of Magnolia with their thumb and pointer finger up in the air. Citizens even came from their home. Shop owners who recognized the mages wished them luck on their journey. With a heavy heart, they reached the train station, taking one last look at Magnolia before boarding.
Natsu and Erza found their seats as they sat down. His eyes glanced out the window, noticing the guildhall in the far distance. "No turning back now."
He felt a hand on his as he turned to Erza, who was smiling brightly. "A new adventure awaits us Natsu, are you ready?"
Natsu held the pendant close to his heart with a smile, gazing deep into his lover's eyes with a newfound determination in his heart. He leaned in to kiss her lips gently before he spoke.
"Yeah, I'm ready."
Man, what a trip this story has been. The support alone has kept me going on this. I know this originally was going to just be a pure song fic, but adding a story element I think improved it. In all honesty, this was always going to be a story, not a copy and paste Natsu song fic that many have repeated. I could've had other guilds react to Natsu's music, but that would've gotten boring. This was Fairy Tail's story. Anyway, this isn't truly the end. I have one more chapter planned, the epilogue, stay tuned.
