It's been about 5 years since I met Dune. Dune abandoned his desire to destroy the earth, and by dedicating himself to medicine, he wanted to be useful to the people he once tried to destroy. I feel that when we interact more and more, Dune wanted to give joy to all people by curing his anguish, perhaps he already knew the true meaning of happiness, that feeling that he lacked in the beginning
Although there was some flirtation between the two, neither came to anything. We have the goal that we should graduate first and once we get a stable job see what would happen... Although I feel bad for making him wait for Dune, I didn't want to rush things either. At the same time I was afraid. A friendship of almost 5 years can be damaged with a declaration of love.
I set out to look pretty at the university graduation, that important event of completing a stage. I asked my aunt to make waves in my hair and ask to give me some 2-inch high heels. At that kind of size I can get used to walking. Even though I didn't want any suit, my parents made me make one.
I arrived at the university where all the students were with their families and friends, and in the crowd, I found Dune standing in front of me.
"Good morning, Mr. Hoshikawa" Dune graduated a month ago in Medicine, and Hoshikawa is the last name he gave himself as a civilian to be another resident.
"Good morning, future Miss. Linder," Dune replied, humoring me.
Dune decides to take me away from the crowd where everyone was settling in for the main act, at least for a moment, so we stop at the same bench where Dune stole my first kiss.
Dune hands me a small bouquet of red flowers.
"For you, Aleyn," Dune told me, handing over the flowers, so I accepted.
"Thank you, Dune," I smiled happily.
Dune looked up at the treetops where the green leaves spread.
"Well, look at us, a few years ago we were here having a conversation, and now we're graduates," Dune smiled.
"Yes, time flies. And to think that a few years ago you wanted to destroy the world…", I smiled.
"Yes… But now I had a reason to move forward and see that this world was worth it," Dune looks at me with a smile.
"A few years ago, we were here talking about who we were, our dreams and what we wanted to become. I also decided to ask for your hand, even though I tried to kidnap you, which made you scared. I then asked you to be your partner, however you said you wanted to take the time to establish who you wanted to be. However, I decided to wait patiently, and now you see me here. Sitting next to you. So I decided something important."
Dune knelt in front of me.
"I no longer want to be the prince of the desert of a planet which I destroyed both the place and the residents who support my father, I no longer want to manipulate people into doing evil. I want to abandon my past, I am not interested in destroying worlds, I no longer want to hurt people, I want to protect the defenseless with the knowledge that I will obtain in medicine. But above all, I want to take care of you and love you, because you are the reason why I want to protect this world. I want us to be more than friends now, I want to be your boyfriend. Would you accept the proposal?"
I blushed and was surprised to such an extent that I realized that I was somewhat cruel by intentionally making him wait so long, since I was not expecting this news suddenly. I made a promise to Dune and instead of breaking his promise and going with another woman, he decided to wait for me.
"I accept, I accept the proposal, Dune," I smiled at my opponent.
"Aleyn, I promise not to abandon you and to always take care of you, you are no longer alone," Dune said.
Then Dune took both my hands, and we both looked at each other's faces and our eyes connected, then little by little our distances began to close and our lips were going to connect when suddenly. A ringtone is heard that makes us separate ourselves from each other, blushing.
"It's mom with 8 messages. She says it's time for the graduation ceremony," I answered nervously, "Oh no, The graduation, Dune, I'm nervous, I don't want to fall in my heels."
"Don't worry, I promise to escort you, my princess. The fact that I have abandoned the throne doesn't mean that I treat you like any other person," Dune answered, offering me his hand, so I accepted and we headed to the graduation ceremony. And if you're wondering, Dune gave me the long-awaited kiss at nightfall, although of course, my father only asked for 3 seconds of kisses in front of him.
