The RKO Incident: Part 5 - The Distraction
Cherry finally made it down to the basement after a series of stairs and long corridors. The walls were painted black, the floor was a white tile with black specks and there were several doors to check. None of them had windows to look in. And it was freezing down there. She said into her earpiece, "Thank goodness I'm wearing the catsuit underneath the maintenance uniform, or I'd be freezing my ass off! It's like Antarctica down here!"
Christine said, "Girl, you've always been cold natured. Wouldn't you like big, hunky Scotsman to warm you up?" Cherry scoffed, "I swear, Phoenix. If we make it out of here…" Christine said, "You'll love me because you know I'm right.", smooching into the mic. Kevin ordered, "Phoenix, enough chatter! Cherry, what's going on there?" I've check most of the doors and nothing. I'm checking this one…wait. I hear a voice from the room next to it."
She moved down to the next door and pressed a listening device to the center of the door. She whispered excitedly, "It's Orton! He's talking to someone on the phone but it's not on speaker. Wait…he said Vince. I think he's on the phone Vince McMahon. Now he's saying something about the title." Christina asked, "Do you hear Drew?" Cherry said, "No. Let me sneak the Tiny Cam under the door to see if I can get a visual."
She took out what looked like a long cord, but it contained a high-powered mini camera. She turned her phone on the app installed by Sheamus and snaked the cam under the door. She observed, "I see Orton sitting at a desk with his feet up on it. He's talking on the phone. I can't make out what he's saying and there's no sight of Drew. Damn it! I still have to check the other door."
She stood up and, like magic, she heard a familiar bellow coming from the unchecked room. To her, it was the sexiest voice in world, even when it sounded distressed. Drew started screaming, "Goddamn it, Randal! Get your arse in here and fight me like a man!" Cherry took the cam and walked quietly to the other door and snaked it under.
She got her visual, "I found him! He's tied up in the middle of this empty large room. I bet he has a sensor trap rigged up to alarm. I'm gonna try and make contact with him. Hang on…switching off communications for a moment." Sheamus yelled, "Cherry, don't!" But it was too late. Christine groaned, "Fuck! Should I head down there now?" Kevin said, "No, stay in place in case power has to be cut!" Lady warned, "Hey, guys. This is very suspicious. I'm walking back into the hotel because I just saw Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss walking in, and they're heading down to the corridor where Cherry went into the basement." Christine pounded her fist in the wall, "I knew these numb nuts couldn't be trusted! I bet they're working with Randy on this! Lady, you gotta try and slow them down. We have to give Cherry a chance to get Drew out of there." Lady said, "On it. Those two are so stupid, this is the easiest part of the operation."
As Christina made her way to them, the two happy idiots kept cracking each other up. Madcap, cackling like a hyena, said, "Say Happy! What do you call a movie about an immortal Goth from Scotland?" Corbin, still busting a gut from the last bad joke, said, "Hmmm…I don't know. Lay it on me, Madcap!" Moss was almost too much in stitches to get it out, "You call it…HighLINER! Get it? Goths wear eyeliner?" Corbin busted his gut with laugher, "Holy shit! That's the best one yet! You're the funniest dude ever!" Madcap was sucking in the rest of his laughter as he said, "OK, speaking of Scotland, let's get down there and make sure ol' Connor McLeod doesn't go anywhere!"
That's when Lady approached them, "Excuse me, boys." Corbin and Moss turned around and liked what they saw. Corbin said, "Well, hello there, pretty lady!" Kevin grumbled, "Ugh! Those two assholes suck hard!" Sheamus had to stifle his laugh, "Are ya jealous? Of those two dunderheads?" Kevin shushed him, "Listen!"
Lady said, "Hello there yourself, tall, bald and handsome!" Corbin got a big goofy grin on his face. Christina looked at Moss, who cheesing hard, and said, "What's up with those suspenders?" Moss' face fell as Happy laughed at him. Moss said, "Wait a minute! I think I look…strapping! Get it? Because suspenders are straps?" Corbin looked at him with disappointment and said, "Dude! Really?" Lady put on her best fake laugh, "No, that was funny! I just wanted to say I'm a huge fan and I wanted to get your autographs."
Corbin lit up, "Of course! Anything for a doll like you! I need to have you on Happy Talk sometime. Or maybe even…the Kiss Cam!" Lady tried to keep the bile down her throat as she played along, "Right. Well, let me just get my pen out…oops!" She threw it over and it landed inside an open broom closet, "Oh clumsy me!" Happy and Madcap were knocking each other out of the way to get to the pen first.
She retrieved a gold powder compact from her clutch and stood in the doorway as the two fought over the pen. Corbin finally came up with it and slapped Moss on the back of the head hard. He said, "Your pen, ma'am. And from what I've heard", winking at Madcap, "it's mightier than the sword." The two started laughing again as Lady opened the compact and said, "Thank you…" She blew the loose powder into their faces and watch them fade and fall hard to the floor unconscious. She shut and locked the door and said as she stood in front of the door to guard it, "…for being fucking idiots!"
As the same time, Cherry was strategizing about what to do once she opened the door to Drew's prison with her red bracelet when she heard an eerie voice behind her, "Excuse me, but what the hell are you doing here?" It was the voice of her target, the cold-blooded Viper. She had briefly encountered him before. While being assigned to backstage duty for Drew a few months ago, she witnessed him getting cozy with one of her oldest friends in Nashville, Denise.
She had first met Denise her very first day in Nashville at The Bluebird Café. She needed a place to stay and Denise needed a roommate. They hit it off right away and became fast friends. She took Cherry to her first self-defense class, and helped the once naïve young girl how to be a strong, independent woman living on her own in Music City. Cherry never forgot that kindness shown by Denise. The ladies made a pact that, no matter what the situation, they would help the other out, no questions asked.
The night she saw Randy and Denise getting cuddly, Cherry saw a spark between them that was undeniable. She got a little sad thinking that her own spark with Drew could never be lit. She was his security and he was her assignment. She never got personal with her assignments, going no further than friendship. This was the oath she made to herself, and it sucked really hard every time she was around the brash, gorgeous Scotsman!
She made her way over and hugged her old friend as he walked away to get ready for his match. Cherry asked as they were catching up, "So you and Orton? I always heard he was trouble." Denise shrugged, "You know me. I've always liked to play with the bad boys! Besides, I know there's a soft side in there somewhere."
But Cherry saw none of this "soft side" as she turned around and stood face to face with Randy Orton. He towered over her like a hovering menace and said, "I'll ask you one more time. "What the hell are you doing here?" She looked confident as she said, "I work here. What the hell are you doing down here, Mr. Orton?" He cocked his head, "Excuse me?" She said, feigning ignorance, "Well, you are Randy Orton, right? The wrestler guy. Right?"
Randy snapped, "Sports Entertainer! And you haven't answered my question yet." She came back, "Yes, I did. I told you I work here and I'm doing my job." He tried to intimidate her, "I suggest you go do your job somewhere else." She was quaking with anger, but knew Drew's life could hang in the balance, so she said, "OK, sir. Have a good evening." She turned to walk away, intending to come back as soon as he retreated back to the office.
He yelled, "Wait!" She stopped and turned around. He looked her up and down, "You seem awfully familiar. Have we met before?" She shrugged, "Not that I can recollect. Sorry." As she tried to walk away, He trapped her between his hands along the wall, "No, I've seen you before. In fact, I've seen you…with Drew!" She laughed nervously, "Who's Drew?" And then, that bellowing from the other room, "Cherry! Is that you, love? Get me out of here!"
Cherry looked right into the Apex Predator's eyes and whispered, "Fuck!", as she kneed him square in the balls. She kicked him in the face as he was down clutching his junk and ran up the stairs back up to the lobby. She heard him taunting Drew as he was coughing in pain, "Your little girlfriend is gone! No one is saving you now, Andrew! GIVE ME THE TITLE!"
Cherry switched her earpiece back on as she made it to the doors, "Goddamn it! Orton found me!" Sheamus said, "Cherry, are ya alright?" She said as she caught up and took Lady by the hand and led her out the front door, "Orton caught me and Drew heard my voice! He started yelling for me, so I had to kick him in the dick and abort the mission! Goddamn it! I was so close to saving him!" Christine heard the anguish in her voice and said, "Hey, Sis! You have to cool it! We can reconfigure."
She shouted, "No! There's no way he's going to leave the door now. I was so close to getting him! Fuck!" Lady had never seen her friend this emotional. She calmly said, "Hey! Let's cool down and think. We need to get him away from the door. Sheamus, do you know of any way to entice him?" Sheamus shook his head, "Not with a million smackers coming to him. Do I need to come down there and just kick his ass?"
Cherry was on the verge of tears, "By the time you get here, it will be too late. We only have thirty-five minutes until one o'clock and…" Then something Lady said broke through her haze of anger, "Entice…entice! Lady, you're a genius! I got it!" Christine was confused, "What are you talking about? You're starting to gibberish just like McInfart!"
Cherry pulled out her cell and found the number in her contacts. The first contact she made in the city. She smirked as she pushed the Call button, "Let's just say I know a snake charmer!" She put her ear up to the receiver: "Hey girl, hey!...I know it's been a while!...You still living here in downtown a block from Union Station?...Yeah, listen. Remember our pact?...Well, I need one of those favors. Well, I happen to know a certain Viper you are "randy" for is here in town…"
Cherry explained everything to Denise, who was in disbelief, "I can't believe it! He really kidnapped Drew?" With her sleek black hair and gorgeous dark features, there was no doubt why Randy instantly felt a connection with her. She felt it too, but now she was questioning whether she still wanted to be with him, "I don't know Cher, this whole thing kinda scares me." Cherry was desperate, "Denise, please! This is our only chance to save Drew from whatever Randy or whoever is paying him has in mind. I'll freaking beg if you want me to!"
Denise gasped, "Girl! Oh my god! I know you better than you know yourself! You're in love with Drew!" Cherry rolled her eyes, "No, I'm in charge of his safety and you are my only hope to save him. Please!" Denise chuckled, "Keep telling yourself that, girl. OK, let me call him and see if I can "distract" him for you. I'll text you back when I make contact." Cherry let out an audible sigh of relief, "Love you!"
After she hung up with Cherry, Denise pulled up Randy's number, took a deep breath, and hit Send. Randy was cursing, trying to get his nether regions to stop hurting when his phone rang, "It better not be fucking Taryn for the eightieth fucking time tonight! Oh…Denise." He smiled as he answered, trying to mask the pain with smoothness, "Well, hello baby girl! I didn't see you at the show tonight. Made me a little sad."
She chuckled seductively, "I had to work. I missed seeing your hot, sweaty body do what you do best." His voice lowered, "Baby, that's not what I do best with my hot, sweaty body. I assure you." She had to clinch her legs together as she said, "Mmmm! Well, I'm home now. And I think we should finally stop all the talking…and show me you mean business. I'm only a block away from Broadway. I'm assuming you're in downtown close to the arena, right?"
He hissed and seethed with lust, "Oh Baby! OK, I'll be there a little after one." She quickly said playfully, "No! I've waited long enough! I want you here now. Whatever you are doing now can wait, but I've waited way too long for you. Please, Baby!" He looked at the door where Drew was on the other side and thought with his suddenly healed and hard dick, "Fuck it! Taryn can wait on me!" He said into the phone, "I'm leaving the Union Station now. Please keep your clothes on. I want the pleasure of taking them off before I fuck you into next week!" He hung up and screamed, "You hear that, Drew? I'm going to get laid now! You'll have to wait until I decide to come back!"
Outside the hotel, Cherry and Lady waited as she received the text she was anticipating: "The Viper is slithering out to me now!" Cherry exclaimed, "She did it!" They spotted Randy coming out of the hotel and turning to the right towards Denise's apartment. Cherry said, "OK, Lady is heading in with me to watch my back. Christine and Sheamus, be on standby. If there is indeed a motion sensor in place, I'll need assistance shutting it off." Christine said, "At the ready, Sis." Lady looked at Cherry and saw the worried look, "Girl, you got this! You've never failed a mission yet." She said, "I know but…you're right. We have thirty minutes until the deadline is up. Let's get in there and free Drew!"
