The Coma - Day Three
It was getting to be the third day that Christine fell into the comatose state she was in. Sheamus barely slept. His eyes were hurting. He didn't eat. Cherry and Drew left for a bit, coming back after getting a few hours of sleep and showering. Cherry slumped down next to the usually jovial Irishman. "Hey, Sheamy, why don't you get something to eat. Or maybe nap..." She said, looking at him. Sheamus was lost."Nah. Not hungry. Not in the mood ta sleep, Lass." His voice was cracking.
"Sheamy, you're not gonna be any good if you're weak. Please don't do this to yourself." She rubbed his back, attempting to make him smile. "Cherry...last time I felt like this...before I stopped her. When she said she had nothing." "God's, why would you bring that up?" Cherry sighed. "Look, when I first met Christine, she... everything and everyone she knew was gone. She was afraid. She didn't want to stay at my place because she thought they were gonna kill me. Took me a long time to get through." Cherry looked to Christine's room. He lowered his head, "I know. I just...I'm sick, Cherry. Just like that night."
Christine still felt as if she was going in and out of life. She saw flashes of her past. A birthday party with her friends when she was ten. Her dad and her working on cars. Her Mom getting her ready for the prom. She could hear their voices. She almost reached them.
Maybe this was death. When she tried to scream to get their attention, they ignored her. It was then as she saw the memories fade, she heard other sounds. Someone pleading with her to come back. A woman. Was that Cherry? Another voice joined hers, telling her to call him a name. What did all this mean? Christine tried to open her eyes. Now she felt strong hands holding her. A kiss. His kiss.
"Damn it, lass!" Sheamus leaned over Christine, kissing her. "I know ya can hear me. I need ya. We need ya..." Her eyes fluttered. Now she moaned. Instead of calling for her parents, or something about the fire, she called his name. "Sheamy..." Her voice was small. Cherry cried, "Oh my god!" "That's it, Lass!" He said, blinking his eyes. "Come on. Come on!"
Christine screamed, "Sheamy? Sheamy?!" He cried to her now, "I'm here. We're all here." Christine smiled as the final memory faded. Suddenly she wasn't floating. It was a fast fall, followed by a bright light. She moaned, "Shit! My head is pounding!" Opening her eyes, she saw around her, Kevin and Lady Christina, Cherry and Drew, and finally sitting next to her in bed was Sheamus.
Her sarcasm returned to form splendidly, "What the hell? Is this the Wizard of Oz or something?" Kevin sighed, wiping his eyes, "She's back. We got our Phoenix back." Christine sat up, "Back? Where did I go somewhere?" "Why's everything bumming? Like seriously."
"Ya scared us, Love." Sheamus sighed, sliding his arm around her, pulling her close. "Scared me bad." "What do you remember?" Lady Christina asked. She thought, "Well, I remember coming out of the crapper. Then I heard voices." Drew grumbled, "Damn Randal Keith!" Cherry rolled her eyes and smacked him on the arm, "It's not him! Shush."
Christine shook her head, "I guess I had reverted back to all those bad memories." Cherry reached over and hugged her, "All I care abut is that you're back with us! Sis, don't you ever do anything like that us again." Christine shrugged, "Eh, I figured McInfart hadn't given us any drama in the last few days. I needed to step my game up." Drew rolled his eyes, then smiled, "Yeah, yeah! Call me that all ya want. Just don't scare the shit out of us like that again!"
Sheamus said, "Lady, ya said ya had something ta tell us once she woke up. What's up?" Lady looked around at her family, then to Kevin. He smiled at her, and her heart melted. But then she got scared to tell him and everyone else her news. She didn't know how Kevin would react to the news that he was going to be a father. She decided to keep it to herself and said, "It's nothing big. I can tell you all later."
Later that evening after everyone had gone home, Sheamus went downstairs to take a call. It was a Det. Brodie from the Nashville Metro Police Department. It was always interesting to hear another Irish accent in Music City. Sheamus said, "OK sorry about that, Det. Brodie. Ya said ya have news fer me." Det. Brodie said, "Yes, I hate ta be the bearer of bad news, but the woman you guys helped us nail…"
Sheamus shut his eyes. He had a feeling he knew what was coming. He sighed, "Taryn Terrell." Brodie said, "Yes. A man came in a paid fer her bond. She is out free. Given the situation, I wanted ta make sure ya knew." Sheamus nodded, his anger boiling. He said, "I appreciate that, but I don't know how she was allowed bond ta begin with. Can ya tell me who posted fer her?" Brodie looked at his paper, "Looks like it was a guy named Adam Ridge." Sheamus nearly lost it. It confirmed his and Christine's fears. Her ex was indeed very much alive and part of the plot to hurt Drew.
