The Plane
HQ - Nashville, TN
The next day, the gang was prepping for the trip to Scotland later that night after the WWE event at Bridgestone Arena. Headquarters was buzzing not with the usual activity. Usually, Drew was in some sort of trouble. This day was different. Drew and Sheamus were going back and forth over the supposed plane that Christine owned.
Drew huffed, "I'm sorry, mate, I don't believe ya." Sheamus was serious, "Why would I lie about a friggin plane? Fella, it flew me when I needed to be home in Dublin. It's named after her parents." Drew blinked his eyes, "Oh bloody great! She takes some stuff to far." Sheamus rolled his eyes, "What? Yer sword is named after yer Ma. So, my gal has a plane named after her parents. I think it's lovely!"
Drew stated, "A sword is one thing. A plane? A plane!?" Cherry and Christine joined the conversation at just the right moment, with the latter saying, "Yes I got a plane, McInFart. So what?" Christine sat down in front of them as Cherry walked by on her way to the restroom saying, "Ah! The Jamie Lu! I've missed that plane! Tell Dom I said hi!" Drew's mouth gaped, "Ya knew about this, Love?" She shrugged as she hurried out, "I've been on it. Long story." Christine smirked, "Oh, but it's a good one."
Drew asked, "Ya got a bloody plane?" Christine only smiled, "Yes." Drew raised his eyebrows at her, "Seriously? Like, with wings and everything?" Sheamus palmed his face, "What else would it have?" Christine sighed, looking at Sheamus, "Drew. Get your coat. Let's go. Sheamy, babe, you know where to go." Sheamus said, grabbing the keys to his truck, "Uh huh, Lass, I gotcha. Come on, Muppet, let's get."
The three of them drove to a small airport outside of downtown Nashville. They got out of the truck as Christine talked to an older gray-haired gentleman in a pilot uniform. She introduced him, "Drew, this is Dom. He's my pilot." Dom extended his hand, "Christine, Sheamus, pleased as usual to see you. The tall gentleman your friend?" Christine said, "Yeah, Dom. He's kinda like the brother I never had."
Dom nodded, "Ah! So, you're the problem child. Andrew Galloway." Drew shook his hand, "That's me, Dom. Pleased to meet ya." Drew asked, "This is actually her plane?" Dom gestured with his hand, "It is. Say hello to the Jamie Lu." Christine said, "My parents. James and Lucy. Jamie Lu. Elvis had the Lisa Marie." Drew was super curious to see the rest of the plane, "Let's look at the inside."
The door opened and Drew was amazed when he stepped inside, "Who! This is awesome!" Sheamus nudged Drew, "Check out the private rooms, fella." Drew smirked, "Private...rooms?" Sheamus said, "Yep. You and yer beloved can shag in peace & quiet!" Christine smiled at Sheamus., "Uh huh, McInFart. Kinda fun in the mile high lounge. At 38000 feet. Talk about flying high." Christine said, "So what do ya say, Drew? I just got confirmation from Dom that we will have clearance. Let's take that crest to your dad after the show tonight. We'll make it a Drew's Angels family trip." Drew nodded as he looked at his phone at a picture of Cherry, " I like it. A family trip. And hopefuly, a wedding."
After showing Drew the jet, the three went back to HQ. Drew and Sheamus talked over their matches for the night, and Kevin and the ladies finished their packing before they all headed to the arena. Lady had insisted on buying fancy dresses just in case there was a special event. Christine, not girly at all, rolled her eyes, "How fancy are we gonna be?" When Lady showed the three dresses she had specially picked for them in case of a special dinner or event, both Cherry and Christine's eyes widened. Cherry, chewing on a ginger pop and praying for the nausea to settle, Said, "Well, that dress will guarantee I'll be getting laid while we're there!"
Christine went to the meeting room, finding Kevin alone and muttering to himself. She asked, "Hey Kev, what's shaking? You look upset or frazzled." Kevin looked up, sighing, "That tart annoys me." She said, "Who? Taryn?!" He grumbled, "Yep. It's bad enough she got sprung out of jail. And we figured out who's got the cash to fund her ideas. But since you took the crest. She's been too quiet" Christine hit her jeweled fist on the table and yelled, "You know what? It's like Price Is Right. Come on down! I want her to come over. I owe her a few receipts. More than a few." Kevin tried to reason with her, "I know yer upset, Christine. But ya can't just…"
Her breathing got heavy as she went off, "I can't what, Kevin?! She stole my life! Destroyed my past! I cried as she...I begged her! I begged her. Begged them not to…" Kevin replied, "Lass, I'm sorry. I didn't..." Christine put her hand up, turning from Kevin, "Quit saying sorry. I really wish people would stop telling me they're sorry." She grumbled, leaving the meeting room.
Two floors down, Drew stopped talking to Sheamus. Something was bothering him. Sheamus asked, waving his hand in front of his face, "Hey fella, are ya listening ta me?" Drew stood up from his seat, looking around, "No. Sheamo." Sheamus asked, "Brother, what is it?" Drew scratched his head, "Dunno. Gonna go upstairs." Sheamus said, "Ok. Tell Christine I'll be in here."
Drew nodded, going to the eighth floor, past the meeting room where Kevin was, to the glass balcony where Christine sat brooding. The sun has set and the moon was barely visible. Downtown Nashville was starting to light up. Drew asked her with her back was to him "Are ya okay?" Christine didn't look at him, "Uh huh. Just one of those days, Andrew."
He sighed, "Looks like tonight, I can go home." Drew swallowed the lump in his throat, "Sometimes I feel responsible, fer all of it." She looked at him, "For what?" Drew looked down, "All the pain from yer past. How that witch tried ta ruin everything." She shook her head, "Not your fault, Drew. She manipulated my ex-husband." Drew stood next to her, "And others. She made me weak and I felt worthless. I was already self-destructive and she just..."
Christine whispered. "Lit the fire?!" He sighed, "Yeah, Phoen." Neither Drew or Christine could explain their bond. Nothing about it was sexual or romantic. They felt each other's pain. She said, "I got sour at Kev. He doesn't get it. What we went through with her. Your pain. My pain." Drew confessed, "Actually, Phoen, he never told you gals, but he created the Angels as a way ta get back at her. He knows you ladies are the best of the best."
Christine gasped, "Wait, what did that bitch do to him?" Drew said, "Long story. But he's been through a bad time with her too." Christine said, "Great. And I blew up at him. I'm really stupid sometimes!" Drew shrugged, "Don't say that. Ya didn't know. He keeps that pretty close ta the vest of his ridiculously expense suits. Christine said, "I'm gonna apologize."
Kevin sighed, putting his paperwork down. He worried about Christine. He rubbed his nose between his eyes, groaning. Out of all the Angels, Christine was the problem child. She was the loose cannon. When he first got the idea for the Angels, right after Taryn tried and failed to seduce him, he did some checking and spying on the three girls.
Four Years Ago
He heard of how Cherry and Christine were the ones who took care of the incidents at concerts around Nashville. How they took care of a kidnapping plot in Orlando. Christine worried Kevin due to the fact she was a loner. Multiple times she proclaimed she didn't need anyone. But one night after a briefing at HQ, Kevin followed Christine to her home, the Diamond Building downtown. The entire seven story building was hers. She had everything she ever wanted, be it practical, like many different weapons and spying tools, or frivolous, such as the four classic cars she owned. But she was alone. And at nighttime, it grew cold. Everyone who she loved either died or betrayed her.
Christine knew Kevin was there, as much as she concealed himself. As boldly as she could, she walked to his Volvo in the shadows. She sighed, "What are you doing? Spying on me?" Kevin held up a file folder, "Well, I've been going over yer credentials." She said, "Either you want me to join this racket or not. Don't matter to me." Kevin looked at her thoughtfully, "I think it does. Cherry is on fer the team."
Christine approved, "She's a good asset. You won't be sorry. Trust me. I owe that girl. She literally pulled my sorry ass from that wreckage." Kevin said, "Join the Angels. You're welcome anytime." She scoffed, "Yeah. Join a group. And what, stand by again and watch someone get hurt or God forbid killed? Nah. No thanks. This kid works solo. That way, if I die, then that's it."
Kevin was flabbergasted "So that's it?!" Christine glared at him, "Yeah! Maybe I don't...maybe I've been..." She turned and left Kevin in the parking lot. He only looked at the open file, reading about the hospital massacre years before that took her parents. He thought to himself, "She was twenty. Poor girl. Her life shattered...then her heart broken by a man she vowed ta love." Now he read the police report about the explosion and fire. How only remnants remained. That was almost five years ago. Later that evening, through persuasion from Cherry, Christine joined the Angels, giving her vows to the team, more than once coming to the aid of everyone in the group.
But when Kevin had her and Sheamus go undercover as a married couple on a cruise to find Intel on a plot to sabotage Drew at WrestleMania, Christine's walls around her heart melted as the jovial Irishman wooed her pretending to be her husband. On a night where the water was still and the moon lit up the Earth, she confessed her fears to him. Sheamus promised her that night as he held her tightly that he'd never leave her side. He'd protect her. He'd be her strength when she was weak. He in turn confessed to her how he had a mad crush on her.
Back to Current Day - HQ
A knocking at his door brought Kevin back to current day. He looked up to see Christine in his doorway. She mumbled, "Hey Kev. Got some time?" Kevin gestured to the chair, "Always. I always have time fer ya gals. Sit." Christine nodded, and sat down, "Ok. I'm sorry I blew up at you. I'm sorry that after all these years I still push people away. Guess I'm still afraid, Kev. I'm afraid I'm gonna lose you all. It's horrible. Kevin. I've had these nightmares."
Kevin was sympathetic, "Aww, Lass. Why didn't ya tell me, or any of us?" she shook her head, "I'm ashamed. So, I get mad and I go to that lonely place. I feel safe there." Kevin said, "Lass, ya got Sheamus. He's as tough as they come." She said, "Yeah but...I still think I'm that kid. It's the trauma.I went through. He said, "Ya sound like Drew. He had many fears. That's why he was scared ta get inta a relationship with Cherry."
She sniffed, "I know. We've talked about them." Kevin, grinned, "Yeah. Ya share a bond. It's special." She said, "I love him. Not like…you know! It's like we're twinsor something." Kevin put his hand on her shoulder, "Lass, don't worry. None of us could be angry with ya fer long. We have a trip ta Scotland to worry about tonight."
Christine said, "Yep. It'll be nice to see Drew's family. I think Drew, Cherry and Lady have already left for the arena. Sheamy and I are gonna get going too. Thanks Kevin." He smiled, "Thanks? Fer what?" She said, "For taking a chance on a broken kid like me. I love you, Kevin. I love all of this and all of them." He gave her a hearty hug, "I love ya too, Christine. We're yer family. Don't ever forget it."
