Angels In Scotland: Part 11 - Two Energies

Jack Jester's House - Ayr Scotland

Sheamus had grabbed a piece of paper before he went outside of Jester's back door, needing to put to paper his thoughts when it came to his beloved. There had been many mornings since they had been together that he would sit down and write her a note about something. Anything. This was very different. He took a deep breath, as he started to write.

My beautiful Lass Christine,

I'm writing this because I don't know what is to become of what happened this evening. I don't know when we can be together again. I may be gone for a long time. I pray that isn't the case. You need to know that the first time I saw you, my life changed. The muppet likes to say Cherry is his beacon in the dark. His light in a dreary world. I understand what he means. You've completed me, fulfilled me, loved me, trusted me. I once heard you say that the man who would love you didn't exist. Well, he does exist, and his name is Stephen Farelly. Me. You own my heart, my fiery Phoenix. I wish to give you my love and pledge my life to you soon. One day we will be husband and wife.

I love you so much and already I miss your kisses and hugs.

Your beloved, Stephen

He looked at the paper, now dotted with his tears, "Bloody hell, I can't...I can't go through with this." He spoke to the quiet of the woods. "I can't run from her. I don't care if I get caught or arrested..." He stopped talking when he heard Drew coming outside. Before Drew escaped through the back yard to be with Cherry at the hospital, Drew saw the paper lying on the step. He took one look and knew he needed to give this to Christine the moment he saw her.

University Hospital - Ayr, Scotland

Denise and Randy sat with Lady vigil with the Angels keeping an eye on Cherry, hoping that she would wake up. They were in the nearby waiting room as Andy and Christine visited her in her hospital room. Randy was mostly silent, only when Denise would sit next to him that he'd react. He sighed to Denise as he grabbed her hand, "Drew's gotta be going ape shit at this point. I know I'd be fighting anything and anyone to be at your side. Especially with..." His eyes went to her belly.

Denise said, "This should be a celebration, Randy. Cherry and Lady pregnant. Drew going to marry Cherry here. Sheamus was going to ask Christine, he was going to ask her to marry him. And us..." Randy held her hand, both of their fingers interlaced. "Yeah. Us. I just hope Drew and I...eh, forget it. I did him wrong. I get it." Denise whispered, looking up at Christine walking to the group, "There's always hope."

As her alter ego, the Phoenix was calm and collected. She did her job. This job was no different. In fact, it was more intense. Christine had only been moments from killing the evil witch who did so much damage to too many people for so long. She was still dressed in the killer outfit, a leather sleeveless bustier that laced up that hugged her curvy hourglass figure. Skintight black denim pants that looked painted on. Her usual black boots. Her long-burnished hair and of course a purple bandana.

Randy asked as she walked into the waiting room, "Christine, how is she?" She sat, shaking her head, "She's...ok. not awake yet. She's moving around in her sleep. She's calling for Drew in her sleep." Then she held her head. Denise asked, "What is it?" Christine looked down at her hands, "Drew. He'sin so much pain. Mental anguish. He's worried about them."

Now she shut her eyes and mumbled, "It's not over. None of it is. You and Cherry. You are meant to be together. Your babies are safe. They're safe, Drew." The group only looked at Christine, her eyes closed and almost in a trance, "You're strong and the love you two have is even stronger. Don't you dare give up hope."

Christine opened her eyes to see Lady Christina, Randy and Denise looking at her. She felt the need to explain, "Randy, I share a bond with Drew. It's a love. Not like a man and woman thing. More like twins. A birth and rebirth..." Feeling overwhelmed, she got up, walking back to Cherry's room. Lady sighed, "She's feeling the guilt of their fight. It's written on her face. Until Cherry tells her that she forgives her, she may not come out of this funk.

Christine stopped short of the door when he heard Andy talking to Cherry, who was still unresponsive. She looked in and saw him holding Cherry's hand as he sat and spoke softly, "Sweet lass. Ya have my son's heart in these soft, tiny hands. I've never seen Drew sa in love or sa happy. Ya healed his heart. And those precious wee ones! Ya have ta wake up, lass. My boy needs ya more than ever. I know yer fight was hurtful, but ya to belong tagether. I'm gonna go try ta see him now and let him knw yer gonna be alright. Yer a fighter, lass. Keep fighting ta come back ta us. Keep fighting fer yer love."

He kissed her hands and walked out of the room. He ran into a sobbing Christine standing outside of the room, "Oh, Papa Andy." She embraced the elder Galloway. Andy asked, "Child, are ya OK? Is there anything I can do?" She sniffed as she wiped her eyes, "Yeah Papa. You can teach me how to shut my mouth. Teach me not to be an asshole."

Andy shook his head, "Yer none of that. People argue. Loved ones argue. Family argues. I've argued with my dear Angela. I've argued with my boys. We're all human. The two of ya. Cherry and you. I've never seen my boys happier. Drew's gonna have children. and he's gonna be a good dad, because he's got a helluva lot more of my Angela in him than me. She was the perfect Mum. I worked a lot. I wasn't around ta be the man of the house."

She nodded, "I understand. My dad was always home with me. My mom always worked. I was angry with her. I argued with her the day…she left early to see my dad, and that's when she...both of them..." Papa Andy only held her tighter to him, "Andrew told me about yer Mum. And yer Da. So did Stephen. Can I share a secret with ya? The night they told me yer story, both those big tough burly men, my boys... They cried. Because they felt helpless when it came ta ya. Stephen told me he just hoped he'd be good enough fer ya."

Christine couldn't believe her ears, "What? No, Papa. He's more than good enough. I sometimes think he can do better than me." Andy continued, "And my Andrew. His hands shook, telling me about the fire. What he had heard that awful witch Taryn say, and what yer nasty ex did ta ya." Christine looked near despondent, "Papa I'd be dead if Cherry hadn't saved me. Her blood is literally in my veins. And how do I thank her? I hurt her. I said some awful things."

Andy took her hands, "Lass, ya can't take it back. It's out there. But as strong as her bond is with Drew, her bond with ya is just as strong. It may take some time, but ya two are sisters. Like ya said, even by blood now. Don't give up hope, child. Listen, I need ta go ta Jester's house of sin…", this made Chrstine give a little laugh, "…I need ta tell Drew about Cherry's condition. Stay strong. She needs ya that way. The two embraced again.

As Andy left, Christine walked back into the room. Seeing Cherry lying in the bed looking frail was a tough pill to swallow. She was always the strong one of the Angels. Now she was murmuring Drew's name again. The nurse smiled at her as she silently walked in. Christine asked, "Is it OK if I sit a bit with her?"

The nurse gregarious said, "Oh of course, honey. A bit of great news. We drew some blood from her. She still has elevated HCG levels." Confused, Christine asked, "What does that mean?" The nurse smiled, "Well, she hasn't hemorrhaged, and the HCG levels are high. So, that means yer sister is still pregnant." Christine let out a cry and a ragged sigh of relief. The nurse rushed to her and took her hand.

Almost immediately, Christine was reminded of her late mother. The kindly older Scottish nurse only held her hand for a moment, looking at her rings, "This is very important to ya. These rings. They mean yer loved ones are always around." Christine was stunned at her observation, "Yeah. That's it. My family. All of them.", looking at the black phoenix ring Cherry had given her the previous Christmas.

The nurse patted her hand, "Seems you've had a lot of sadness and heartache. Pain even." Christine's shrugged, "You could say that." The nurse's face grew sad, "I understand loss and pain. I lost my twin children in a fire. They were just three years old. I couldn't get ta them." Christine gasped, "Oh God, I'm so sorry!"

The nurse shook her head, "It's OK. It happened a long time ago. But funny thing, but ya almost remind me of my daughter, even though she was a toddler at death. I always have them in my heart. My Chrystal and my Andrew..." Christine stiffened, "Twins?! Chrystal and... Andrew?" She said, "Yes. My dear, ya look like ya seen a ghost." Christine clarified, "It's just...my name is Christine. Her fiancé's name is Drew. He and I share...like we're twins. Geminis."

The nurse considered, "Well, that's interesting. My babies were born on June 20." Christine was dumbfounded, "Oh my god. Our birthdays add up to 20! Ma'am, I don't know you. But maybe we, me and my friend. Do you believe we could be your twins reincarnated?" The nurse waved it off, "Nah, I don't believe in that stuff. But it is interesting. I'll let ya alone ta be with yer friend."

Christine said, "Thank you. I never caught your name, ma'am." She said as she left the room, "Of course, my dear. I'm Lucille Angela Robinson. Have a good night. If ya need anything, I'll be at the nurses' station." Christine shook her head. She smiled as she looked upwards towards the heavens, "Yeah. That's good. OK, Lucy and Angela. I hear you guys. I hear you loud and clear."

Christine sat at her best friend's side, holding her hand and doing anything to illicit a response. This should have been a fun evening. A celebration of family, live and new life. Now after everything that happened, Christine felt responsible for the horrendous events that had happened that evening. It had been her idea to go to Scotland. It was her who got the crest from Phil's shop.

And it was also her who in anger and malice spat those hurtful, damaging words at her friend. There has never felt jealous of Drew and Cherry's love. Christine treasured it. She had encouraged it even when they were both too hardheaded to go for it. She had guessed it when they were trying to hide their affair. She adored watching their love blossom as much as her own heart melted when it came to Sheamus.

With a trembling hand, she lightly touched Cherry's tummy, swearing she felt a positive energy. Two little energies. She leaned close to her hand, "Babes, I know it's you. I feel you speaking to me. You're confused wondering what's going on. Just know that everything will be OK. You have one hell of a mom and a crazy daddy. Your mom kicks ass and your daddy, well, he wears a kilt, has a big sword and talks a lot of gibberish."

She laughed to herself, "And you have all these crazy aunties and uncles. Your uncle Kevin is so loyal. So fierce protecting us. Your uncle Sheamy is something else. He's gonna show to do all that computer stuff he does. Probably, if you're boys, he and your dad will teach you how to fight. If you're girls, your Auntie Lady will have you looking like princesses. Of course, you got your grandpa. Andy is gonna spoil you. Probably more than your dad or mom. As for me. I can't teach you to dance or show you how to walk in fancy heels. But I'm a pretty good listener. Well, when I'm not mad or something. You kids are Galloway's, you'll figure it out."

Cherry was still silent, once in a while she weakly moaned Drew's name. Christine looked at the monitors, everything still was normal. Christine cried as she said, "Cherry, your man loves you. He loves you so much. I'd never ever get in-between that. I know I hurt you. I said some dumb shit. I never once thought or cared about when Drew kissed me. I never even thought about it after it happened. Both Drew and I were weak that night. We could have had that night. But I told him there was no love between us, other than the Gemini thing we share. I told him that there was a woman who loved him. You. Even before either of you realized it, I knew you were in love and belonged together."

Lady, Denise and Randy stopped at the door as Christine continued, "I need you to wake up, Sis. I need you here to keep my ass in line. The group needs our sister. But most of all, Drew needs his Love back with him. Please wake up, Cher!" She started wailing and everyone came in and surrounded her. Lady held her with Denise on her other side and said, "I know, Christine. I hate seeing her like this." Randy only observed not knowing what to say or do as Denise said, "She means the world to all of us."

Then they thought they heard a weak voice, "This is...really touching...ugh!" Christine turned to face her, "What the hell? Cherry?!" Lady yelled, "Oh my god!" Cherry slowly sat up, groaning, "Please don't yell. Fuck, my head hurts! Denise walked to her, stopping at her side, "Jesus Christ, you scared the hell out of us!" Cherry, befuddled and feeling like she was underwater, asked, "What happened?"

Lady said, "Taryn hit you and you fell. You hit your head hard on the pavement." A rush of memories from the night came back and she panicked, "My babies! Please tell me my babies are OK." Randy came to her other side and said, "They're fine. The doctor said you had no hemorrhaging, and the babies are safe." More confused than ever, she said, "Randy? You're here? I don't understand. Wait, the fight. Taryn tried to hurt me."

Lady said, looking back at Christine, "Well let's just say an Angel saved your babies." Cherry looked at Christine, standing back away from the others with a guilty look on her face. Cherry said, "Chris, you saved my babies?" Christine only nodded, not knowing how Cherry felt about her at that moment.

But Cherry started getting worked up as she looked around, "Wait a minute. The fight. Sheamus and Adam. Drew and… Drew! Where is he? Why is he not here? I need him! Does he even want me anymore?" But the group didn't get a chance to explain. The doctor and nurse came in to examine her now that she was awake. The group was ushered out as Cherry cried Drew's name.
