Angels In Scotland: Part 20 - The Wedding of Drew and Cherry
Part 2
Drew stood there waiting, looking out at those in attendance. The outdoor gardens area was lovely with a private hedgerow and archway of holly and daisies behind the minister. So many of his wrestling friends were able to make it. Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater sat together with their partners close to the front row with Randy. AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, R-Truth, Damian Priest, Nikki Cross and Big Damo, Duodrop, Bobby Lashley, Charlotte Flair and Andrade, Seth and Becky, all three members of the New Day, Johnny Gargano and Candice LaRae, and even Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were among the WWE Superstars that showed up in Scotland for the happy event.
From the Scottish, independents and other promotions, Mark Dallas, the owner of ICW, came with Sha Samuels, Noam Dar and Wolfgang. Malakai Black came with Zelina Vega, Claudio Castaniolli, Matt and Jeff Hardy, William Regal, Ethan Page, Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis, Miro and CJ Perry all came to share in this moment.
But Drew looked over and started to fume when he spotted Madcap Moss in the back far right corner on Cherry's side. Even though Riddick had done the right thing and helped get Drew and Sheamus out of trouble with the police, all the nasty bullshit he had taken part in with Corbin to help Phil and Taryn still left a mark with Drew. He whispered over to Sheamus, "What in the fuck is he doing here?"
Sheamus sighed, "He must've been on the group texts when Stu was putting together who would be here. Mate, don't worry about him. I don't think he's gonna do anything. Just be cool." Drew was still steamed as he hissed, "I don't want him here!" But the music had started for the bridal party to enter. Sheamus said, "Focus on what's important. Ya and Cherry. Yer here, brother. She's gonna become yer wife! Ya made it! Now, don't worry about him and let's get ya hitched!" Drew huffed, but then nodded and smiled, "Yer right. Cherry is all that matters."
As The Mavericks' live version of "Harvest Moon" continued, out of the curtain first came Denise, earning a lustful gaze from Randy. She smiled and winked at him, then waved to Drew at she took her place. Lady Christina entered next, gliding down the carpeted walkway like true royalty. Then, Christine, the maid of honor trying not to show her discomfort in dressing up, strolled down the aisle. She immediately locked eyes with Sheamus and smiled, knowing they would be eloping to Dublin the moment Drew and Cherry retreated for their wedding night. As she turned to take her place, she whispered to Drew, "Bro, she looks so beautiful. Just you wait."
At that moment, as Heath's two daughters were doing her duties as flower girls, Cherry's nerves started racing and she started to fan herself. Kevin asked her, "Lass, are ya OK?" She nodded, breathing heavily, "Yes. I'm just so nervous, Kevin. What if Drew decides that marrying me is a big mistake? We just survived so much turmoil…" Kevin wouldn't let her finish, "And ya came out of it stronger and more in love than ever. He loves ya more than anything, Lass. Never doubt that." She smiled, "You're right. Thank you, Kevin. For everything. And I mean everything." He patted her on the hand and said, "It was nothing, Lass. Nothing at all." She kissed him on the cheek and she heard her song and said, "That's my cue. Time to get married!"
The crowd rose as the bride's entrance song started. Cherry was never a conventional kind of girl. Therefore, her song was not going to go that route either. The familiar stains of Savage Garden's "Truly Madly Deeply" started, and from behind the curtain stepped everything Drew ever dared to dream about. His breath caught in his throat and he exhaled sharply as Cherry walked towards him. Like the first day she strutted into his life, she was red from head to toe, the color of passion, the color of love. He managed to breath out, "Oh my Love!" Sheamus clapped him on the shoulder and smiled as Jester and Stu grinned, so happy for their long time friend.
Cherry felt like she was floating towards Drew. She barely made note of who she passed along the aisle in that moment, but she happened to catch sight of both Ms. Sophia and Krystal the closer she got to the front. But her eyes kept floating back to Drew. He looked so incredibly handsome in his red and black kilt, she wanted to cry. He looked like he had stepped out of one of the historical romance novels she had read as a teenage girl or some gorgeous scoundrel from out of her dreams. But this was real. She had her Prince Charming.
She reached the front and Kevin took both hers and Drew's hands. He looked at Drew and said, "Be good to her, mate." Drew almost in a love trance nodded, "Ya know I will, bugger." Kevin smiled and kissed Cherry's hand, blowing a kiss and giving a grin to Lady Christina. He took his seat next to Krystal, who was already bawling. Kevin handed her his handkerchief and she accepted, dabbing her eyes.
As they were standing there holding hands, Drew struggled to reign in his emotions. He whispered, with a tear threatening to roll from his cheek, "My Love! Yer too beautiful fer words! Gods, I love ya sa much!" Cherry couldn't contain her happiness and she said, "You're so handsome! I love you, Galloway! I can't believe we made it, baby!" As the officiant got ready speak, Drew lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles.
The officiant welcomed those in attendance and said, "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness the declaration of undying love between Andrew McLean Galloway IV and Leslie Josette Collins. All of us need and desire to love and to be loved. Andrew and Leslie have arrived at this beautiful stage in life after finding each other…" The rest of the opening words were a blur to both Cherry and Drew. All they could do was look into each other's eyes and no one else in the world existed.
The officiant said, "If anyone here can give just cause why this man and woman should not be joined in holy matrimony, let him…" Jack Jester interrupted quickly stepping out at the front, "He should just shut tha fuck up or he'll get his arse handed ta him by all of us!" Although there was some laughter, the wrestlers all straightened up as if they were ready to pummel anyone who tried to stop the wedding. Cherry had to snicker…this was the life she chose, and she wouldn't have it any other way!
The officiant cleared his throat and said, "Well, if that show of testosterone is over, we can proceed with the ceremony. Now, Andrew and Leslie both have prepared their own vows. Andrew, you may go first." Drew swallowed hard and looked out at the audience full of his friends and family. He had to joke, "Well, I should've written this down, but I've always been better at unscripted promos. Sa, here it goes!" Everyone laughed and shouted with joy. He looked back at Cherry, who was giggling, "You really are a big dork, Galloway!"
He settled down in that heart melting grin as he spoke directly to her looking into her gorgeous green eyes, "Cherry, I knew I loved ya the moment ya strutted inta that room over three years ago. Yer so beautiful, but that light, that positive, glowing, bright light ya have about ya. I may have lusted over how ya looked at first, but that light and energy is what I fell in love with. I never felt more complete than that first time ya told me that ya loved me. And I know I was stubborn as hell when it came ta telling ya fer a while, but I felt it with all my heart all along. Ya saved me, Love. Ya saved my heart from so much darkness, loneliness and hurt. Ya showed me the kinda man I always wanted ta be. Ya accepted me knowing that I'm not perfect, but ya love me even more because I'm not. Yer the sexiest, coolest, sweetest gal in any room ya enter and ye've made my life complete. Especially now with these two wee ones on the way…"
Drew reached over with one hand to cradle her lower belly, and there was an audible gasp from those in attendance that had not yet been told their big news. From his seat, Heath loudly said with happiness, "Oh baby!" Drew shrugged and looked out at them, "Yeah, I guess ya guys now know. I knocked her up with twins. I did that!" There was a noticeable sound of both giggles and joyful sniffles, with Andy shaking his head and looking at Jane, "That's my boy!"
Drew looked back at her and finished, "I vow ta ya that I'll always be yours. I'll continue ta make ya proud of me, whether I hold WWE gold or not. I vow that I will be the best husband and father possible. And I promise ya that I'll love ya until the end of time. Mo ghaol, my bheatha, mo chridhe, mo anail, mo Aingeal. Daonnan agus gu bràth. I'm yers, my Love. Ferever." He took her hands and put them to his lips and placed a kiss on them. Cherry had tears streaming down her face at his words. She blinked them away and sniffed as she said, "Well I don't think I could ever top that, but I guess I'll try!"
He laughed and winked at her as the officiant said, "Andrew, that was beautiful. Leslie, it's your turn." Cherry took a deep breath and began, "Drew, before I met you, I had lost all belief in love. I was running away from the darkness and always looking for something, never knowing what tat was. But that day I walked into that meeting after Kevin convinced me to take this ridiculous but awesome sounding job, I found exactly what I was looking for the first time in my life when I looked into those gorgeous blue eyes."
She turned to Christine, who handed her a handkerchief. She dabbed her eyes and said, "I can't let this awesome makeup go to waste!" The audience laughed as Christine took it back from her, giving her a sisterly hug, "You're doing great, Sis." Cherry turned back to Drew and took his hands. She exhaled and continued with a quivering voice, "You like to say that I saved you. Drew, you saved me right back. You saved my life, and you revived my heart from the dead. You healed me from so much hurt and anger. You are so sweet, kind, and the damn most gorgeous man I ever laid eyes on! Out of all the women in the world, you chose me. And I am so grateful to have your love."
Drew shook his head and smiled, "I'm the lucky one, my Love." She concluded, "Drew, I vow to you that I will always have your back, no matter how difficult or dangerous the situation. I vow that you will have the most loyal and faithful wife and mother to your children. And I promise you that I will love you until the end of time. Mo ghaol, my bheatha, mo chridhe, mo anail, mo Aingeal. Daonnan agus gu bràth. I'm yours, Baby. Forever." Drew nodded, "Yer Gaelic is perfect, Love!" The officiant said, "That was just lovely, Leslie."
Then, the officiant looked at Drew, "Do you, Andrew, take Leslie to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, for richer or poorer, for as long as you both shall live?" Drew smirked, "Yer damn right I do!" The officiant looked to Cherry, "And do you, Leslie, take Andrew to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and bad, for richer or poorer, for as long as you both shall live?" Cherry smiled, "Oh hell yeah I do!"
The Angels beside Cherry couldn't control their tears as the officiant spoke, "Now, it is time to exchange rings. Please bring them forward, young man." Drew's young nephew, Ian came forward from John's lap and placed them on the Bible. He hugged Drew's leg going back, who bent down and said, "Good job, lad."
He stood up and the officiant said, ""A ring has no beginning or end. Its path is endless and a symbol of your endless love and respect for each other. By placing these rings on each other's fingers, you are promising to not just to love each other, but to honor each other, to be compassionate, patient, and understanding as you build your future together. You can both feel the love from your hearts in this room. These rings represent this love. Not just your love for each other, but from everyone here today. Let these rings be a reminder of that love, what you are feeling today. Please place the ring on the finger and repeat after me."
Drew's silver band was ornate, and Cherry's was the same with both diamonds and rubies set all around. They both repeated these words and slid the ring on each other's finger: "I give you this ring as a symbol of my love with the pledge to love and support you today, tomorrow, always, and forever." He continued, "Sustaining a healthy marriage takes love. It takes trust. It takes honesty. It takes patience. It takes teamwork, and compromise, and understanding. You will need to have faith in each other, to go forward together, into an unpredictable future. It will take dedication, to stay open to one another - and to learn and grow together. You both have declared your intent your intent to marry, you have promised to be committed to one another, and have exchanged rings. There is now only one thing left to do..."
Drew smirked, "This is gonna be my favorite part, Love." Cherry giggled as the officiant proclaimed, "By the power vested in me by the town of Ayr, Scotland and St. Andrews Parish Church, I now pronounce you officially man and wife." A shriek of joy rose from the Angels and Krystal. The officiant said, "Andrew, you may…"
But Drew didn't give him a chance to finish his sentence. He reached for Cherry holding her by the small of her back with one hand and the back of her neck with the other. He kissed her with all the passion a deep love he held in his soul for her. Their tongues did that beautiful, familiar dance. She cradled his face in her hands as she melted in his body.
They barely heard all the catcalls and screams from the congregation. Miro shouted, "Come up for air, brother!" They slowly came out of the kiss, their faces pressed together and smiling. She whispered, "We did it, Baby!" He smiled, "Yes we did! Yer mine ferever!" They parted slightly and looked out at their friends and family. Even the groomsmen had tears of happiness to match the Angels as the officiant said, "Friends, family, it is my honor and privilege to introduce to you for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew McLean Galloway IV!"
The entire crowd stood, cheering and clapping for the smiling and crying couple. Cherry took Drew's hand and raised it, as if he had just won the biggest match of his life. He had. Then, as the recessional started, Drew laughed gregariously when he heard The Chicks "Cowboy Take Me Away". He looked at her as they started walking down the steps, "Ya just had ta, didn't ya?" She smirked and stopped, stroking his beard, "Well, you are my Scottish cowboy, Baby."
He happily growled and scooped her up in his arms as she squealed with delight. With their wedding party behind them laughing, and Sheamus yelling, "Get yer woman, wanker!", Drew carried a waving and amused Cherry back towards the curtain. He sat her down on her feet at the exit, and looked into her eyes. They said nothing to each other, they didn't have to. All they needed in that moment was their beautiful, crazy love as they kissed each other. They were finally married and now, they could really start their happily ever after!
