Angels In Scotland: Part 23 - Opportunities Taken and Missed
Krystal
While Drew and Cherry were thoroughly enjoying their first night as a married couple, Krystal Lawson got back in her hotel room inside the Piersland around 2AM. She felt so much joy watching her childhood friend marry the love of her life. She had a blast at the wedding reception, dancing, drinking, and becoming friends with the other Angels. Knowing that Leslie had these ladies in her life while she was unable to be there made her happy, but she was beyond grateful to have her back in her life.
Krystal took out her phone and saw Cherry had recently sent her a text: "Best wedding night EVER!" Krystal had to laugh and replied: "Get it girl! You deserve it! I expect you to be walking funny in the morning! LOL!" She pulled up her pictures and started looking through those of her and Cherry from when they were younger, in high school to Cherry's wedding.
Krystal had really missed her throughout the past years and was so happy to be reunited to see her walk the aisle and marry the man of her dreams. But her duty to her dad in North Carolina meant that she would have to live apart from her dear friend. But at least they could finally be openly in contact with FaceTime and texting.
She looked at the time and knew her Dad would still be awake as she was five hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time. She dialed him up and Todd Lawson answered, "Hey, baby girl! How was the wedding?" Krystal smiled, "Hey Dad. It was beautiful. Leslie is so happy." She could hear the mirth in his voice, "That's fantastic. I love the picture you sent me of you two earlier. You're both just as beautiful as you were in high school. Give Leslie my love."
Krystal sighed, "I will. How are you feeling?" He stretched and said, "Today was a good day. Your Uncle Greg and I took a walk around town. Just got out of the house for some fresh air. It did a world of good." She said, "That's great to hear." He asked, "Well, anything else new with you?" She was hesitant at first to say it, but exhaled, "Well, I was told about a potential job that Leslie's new husband may hook me up with. But I don't think I will be able to take it."
Todd's interest was piqued, "Oh? Tell me about it." She said, "I really don't want to talk about it. It would require a lot of travel working for the WWE and I can't do that with you and your illness. I doubt I will take it even if it's offered." His voice raised some but in a loving way, "Young lady, no! I will not have you give up a once in a lifetime opportunity for me."
Krystal protested, "But Dad, you're sick." He pushed back, "And you're well and have your whole life ahead of you. Listen, Todd and I have been talking and I'm going to move in with him so we can watch after each other." When she started to object, Todd was firm, "Krystal, it was bad enough when you left California to move back here to this dead-end town. You are worth more than Holly Mountain can provide. I love you for wanting to take care of me, but you have to take care of yourself first. I will not allow you to put your life on hold for me anymore. If you have to travel a lot, fine. If you move to a better location for you, so be it. I will be fine and taken care of. You go out there and live your life, baby girl. I love you."
Though she was normally not the emotional type, Krystal started to cry. Her voice quivered, "Well, if you're sure. There is no guarantee I'll get the job." Todd huffed, "Bull! You're smart, dedicated, and have a strong work ethic. You'll land this with no problem. Plus, you'll get to spend a lot more time with Leslie. You two need more time to catch up and I know you'll be in good hands with her. Go live your dream, Krystal. Now, it's bedtime here. Get you some sleep as well. I love you, baby girl." She wiped her tears away and whispered, "I love you too, Dad. Good night."
She felt as if the world jut came off of her shoulders. She checked her email, which she had neglected for the last couple of days and saw there was an email from earlier in the day that said: From Adam Pearce. She opened it and read: "Ms. Lawson, I was given your resume by Drew before his wedding, and I am impressed with your background. I am staying here at the Piersland Hotel tonight and was wondering if you would like to join me for breakfast and a conversation about the position tomorrow morning. Maybe not too early since we all will be partying into the late hours. Let's say 9AM downstairs in the hotel's restaurant. Let me know if that works for you. Thank you, Adam Pearce, Producer with World Wrestling Entertainment"
Krystal wanted to jump up and down with glee but kept her cool long enough to reply: "Mr. Pearce, I am delighted you have reached out to me about this incredible opportunity. I will be there. Thank you, Krystal Lawson" Krystal jumped up and thought about texting Cherry about this but decided to let her enjoy being a new wife for the night.
She thought to herself, "This is so amazing! I have my best friend back and now I may be getting a dream job! Finally, my life is starting to come together." Then, Krystal looked at the bouquet sitting on the bedside table. She picked it up, remember how she caught it during the reception and how happy Cherry looked with Drew. She recalled seeing the Angels with their men. She looked the red and white flowers in the bouquet and thought, "Hopefully one day soon, I can find the man of my dreams as well."
Madcap Moss
Meanwhile, Michael Rallis, the man behind the ridiculous character Madcap Moss, was on a plane back to the states. He had shown up at Drew and Cherry's wedding hoping to make amends with Drew after all of the rotten things he had assisted with, but that didn't happen. He felt out of place in the group of guests, even among those we worked with.
The word had gotten around the locker room about what he and Corbin had done to Drew and he fully expected to get shit canned for it. He knew he would deserve it too. He never felt completely at ease with Taryn's ridiculous plots and how Corbin was so gung-ho on destroying Drew's life and reputation. But he complied since Happy had been his mentor since starting at NXT eight years prior and he felt like he owed him his loyalty. Plus, if he was completely honest with himself, the money Phil Rumsfeld paid was even better than his WWE salary.
But he was resolved to make things right with Drew. Madcap had no idea that Drew was in a relationship with the redhead he had seen around the backstage area for some time. He definitely didn't know she was expecting a child until he made that dumb "cherry pop" joke watching Taryn almost cost Cherry her pregnancy.
Even though he always knew what they were doing to them was wrong, it was in that moment that Michael took back his brain and heart from "Madcap". Randy's threats may have made it a no-brainer to talk to the police, he wanted to tell the truth anyway. He just hoped one day that Drew and Cherry could forgive him.
With that though, Madcap was in agony. He left the reception after getting a text from his girlfriend, Tennille Dashwood. She was irritated with him because he had been away for so long and had given him the riot act when he called her on the way to the airport. He told her that that he would explain everything when he got back to the US, and he knew he had better come clean. The truth would sound better from him than from the scuttlebutt of the wrestling community.
But one thing he would never tell Tenny: he couldn't stop thinking about Krystal and the way she moved her body at the reception. He had heard Cherry say her name at the reception and this woman captured his imagination very quickly. He was hoping he would get to see her again. He wanted to get to know her. But then again, she was obviously close friends with Cherry and figured she wouldn't want him near Krystal after all the chaos he and Happy Corbin put her and Drew through. And he didn't blame her.
But as the plane was nearing Nashville, the next stop for WWE, he took out his phone and looked at the pictures he secretly took of Krystal dancing at the reception. He didn't know why she was fascinating to him, but there was something about her. He needed to meet this girl. Yes, he was having fun globetrotting and having sex with Tenny. But with Krystal, he couldn't shake the feeling that they could be so much more than a good time.
