The Dublin Affair: Part 3 - Brother

The Farelly Cottage - Dublin, Ireland

Christine looked at Sheamus after the two of them had finished showering. Wordlessly, he wrapped the towel around her dripping wet body, not before he left a few sloppy kisses on her face. She smirked, "Stephen. I'm spent. You wear me out." Sheamus dried himself off, sighing, "Nonsense, Lass. Ya met my best each time."

He giggled at this. Amused, she narrowed her eyes, OK, what's so funny? And why do I have a feeling it involves McInfart?" He grinned, "I had ya here. In my homeland. Drew told me before the wedding that when he had her at the bed and breakfast that it felt different ta make love ta her in his hometown. More powerful. More meaningful. I thought he was just talking out of his bloody arse bacause he's such a horny bugger. But he was right. This is the town I was born in. I know it sounds silly, but…"

Christine quieted him, "But it is important, Stephen. All three of you guys, Kevin, you, and Drew. You guys are so proud of your blood. Your families. Your heritage. And I love you all for it." He agreed, "Aye, it is pride." She followed Sheamus into the bedroom, watching him get dressed. Christine smiled more when he slid on a pair of black and red boxer briefs that hugged him like second skin.

She licked her lips, "Damn! I can't say I don't love you walking around with just some underpants on." Sheamus laughed, "Ya know how us Celtic men struggle with underpants. We're…ya know…gifted." She rolled her eyes, "Gifted, uh-huh. God, you sound and act more like Drew every day! But I've listened to Cherry talk about Drew's…claymore. Us Angels are very blessed ladies!"

Christine got dressed, following him as he went to the kitchen to grab a beer. "You look so good, Daddy." Christine only sighed as she rubbed his muscular chest, lightly squeezing his arms. Then, she noticed that he held a sadness in his eyes. She asked, "Stephen. Something's going on in your head. What is it? Are you still upset we didn't tell Drew and Cherry?"

He shook his head, "Well, I am, but it's not that. I never told ya this, Lass. But I have a brother. And I'm not talking about Drew. I mean a brother by blood. His name is Jack." Christine was shocked, "You...you what? A brother?" He nodded, "Aye. He's five years younger. We've not talked in years." She inquired, "Why?"

He explained, "There's always been bad blood. He was mad bacause I did better in school. I went ta university fer IT and tech, and then I became a wrestler. I got famous, and I got our parents a nice home. Not fer spite, which is how he took it. Then it got worse when Drew and I connected over our passion fer wrestling. He hates Drew fer some reason. Jack and I…we just never really had anything ta relate ta each other like that. He resented me fer it. Maybe this wedding fer us can help me reconcile with him."

A few minutes after this bombshell of a revelation, Christine sat finishing up her makeup when she felt something. They were meeting his parents for a late lunch, then off to the secret place she found online for their elopement. Her thoughts went to Cherry and Drew. She was silent as she tried not to get upset. That feeling deep down that wanted them there with them was strong.

She knew this Dublin trip was super important when she first thought it into existence the night Drew and Sheamus was cleared of the murder charges. But now, she knew why. She had a purpose: help reunite the Farrelly brothers. But she was also masking her own feelings. That loner side of her was rearing its ugly head, no matter how much she loved her Angels family.

Sheamus came into the bathroom, smiling at her and asked, "Ya ready, Lass?" She turned to him, taking a deep breath. He looked perfect dressed up in a dark blue pair of jeans and a emerald green button up shirt. And his usual suspenders, of course. She sighed heavily, "Yeah. I just can't stop thinking about Cherry and Drew suddenly."

He nodded, holding her hands, "Me either. I miss them. He wanted ta return tha favor and stand up fer me at our wedding. I know Cherry wanted ta da tha same fer ya, Lass." She was resolute, "But it's becoming clearer why we're here after you told me about your brother." He said, "Yeah. It's a sore spot fer Mum and Da. They want peace between us but he's not interested. Anyway, let's not dwell on this. Let's meet Ma and Da at the house and then…let's go get married!"

The Main House

Davina Farelly was scurrying around her home. In a few minutes, her eldest son and his soon-to-be wife would come by. She smiled at the fact her son found his soulmate. He said he'd go to America, become a famous wrestler, and return a champion. He did all that and more. But with that came the other side of things.

She now looked in the kitchen, at the younger man drinking coffee with her husband. Her younger son, Jack Farrelly. An almost exact duplicate of his older brother, Jack hadn't talked to Sheamus in almost five years. It was a deep wound in the small family. He despised his brother for leaving home, leaving Dublin even, to do that silly thing they watched as kids. He only decided to come by because their parents asked him to.

Jack looked up when his mother announced Sheamus and Christine coming up the walkway. He looked up at his elder brother and a woman smiling at each other as they walked hand in hand to the house. Davina exclaimed, "Oh, there's the happy couple!" Jack looked at the two of them. Sheamus looked bigger, way more muscular then when he last saw him. Occasionally, Jack would watch wrestling if he saw it on.

But when he first looked at the woman who held his brother's hand, he shook his head, "Mum, who's that?" Davina said, "It's yer brothers fiancé. Her name's Christine, remember? They wish ta get married here today!" Jack rolled his eyes, "Where'd he find that bird? I mean...is she a wrestler?" She said, "No. She works in a group that does security. They work with WWE. They protect Drew…"

Jack grumbled, "Don't say that idiots name, Mum!" Davina fussed, "Don't ya start this, Jack! I dunno why ya dislike Drew sa much, son." Martin shook his head. "Yer brother and him are real close." Jack soured, "Yeah, yeah. A brother should be close with his brother. His real brother." Davina said, opening the door, "Now, Jack. I'll not be having that talk here. You'll talk ta yer brother. He wants ta make up with ya."

As she opened the door, Sheamus laughed, hugging her tightly, "Ma! Sorry we're a bit late. The shower. Uh, it was leaky. I fixed it." He smirked. Davina smiled, grabbing Christine's hand, "Uh huh. I'm sure ya did." Martin snickered, "I'm sure ya fixed her…I mean…the shower real good, Son!" Looking at Christine, Davina beamed, "My dear, ya look sa lovely!"

Christine couldn't explain it. Ever since she met her future in-laws, it was as if her parents had returned from the dead. She smiled, "Thank you, Mum. Your son is quite handy." She bit her lip, then asked, "Did you need any help with lunch? I'm a pretty good cook if you need anything. Davina waved her hand as they stepped inside, "I have everything handled, my dear."

It was then that Sheamus and Christine were confronted with the reason why they were there in the form of Sheamus' brother. Jack stood just inside the doorway, glaring at both of them. Christine slid closer to Sheamus with her right arm snaked around his waist. He felt her tremble. He wasn't about to let Jack ruin this event.

Jack looked at his brother and the woman he was to marry. Davina said nervously, "Sa, I called yer brother, Stephen." Sheamus looked tense, "Aye, I see that." His blue eyes locked on his younger brother. He extended his hand to Jack, "Jackie. I'm happy ta see ya." Jack looked down at his brothers extended hand, "Are ya really? Ya figured show up and everything will be OK?"

Davina warned, "Jack, please. Yer brother wishes ta get married taday. They came special here, ta our home." Jack shrugged, "Sa what? Where's yer other brother? The idiot Scottish one ya dumped yer own blood fer. Too busy fer ya so ya come back home ta yer blood?" Sheamus sighed and looked up at the ceiling, "OK Jack. Go on and say yer peace. Ya got that right ta. But this has gone on fer ta long. We're brothers. Family. Don't be like that. Think of the family. The clan. Our heritage."

Jack huffed, "Heritage? The clan? Since when did ya start given a damn about that? Ya left. Ya left here. All ta chase a stupid dream." Sheamus was starting to lose his temper, "It's not stupid! It's my passion. Wrestling is what I love. I've always loved it. But, there's other things I love more." He looked at Christine.

Christine felt the struggle within him as Sheamus explained, "I wish ta get married here. Home. Dublin. Because it's important." Jack was sarcastic, "Important? This was yer crazy idea? Why? Sa ya can brag about yer life in America? Let me tell ya something now. No one cares about ya and Galloway rolling around with each other in yer underpants!"

Christine's voice cut through the argument, "It wasn't his idea! It was my idea, Jack. Familyand heritage. It's important." Jack snarled at her, "Ha! Who are ya ta be interjecting? This ain't about ya, Lassie! Ya best let the men talk." Che wasn't about to let him or anyone talk to her that way, "First of all, you don't know me well enough to talk to me like a sexist. Second, It does involve me. I love your brother. What we have is special. Oh, but you're so right. I don't know about all of this."

She looked over at Davina and Martin, "You guys are lucky. You're so blessed to have each other. All I have is a self-made family. I have no blood or heritage left." She sighed, walking outside and looking out to the green pastures of their home. Christine looked out into the beautiful Irish green yard. It was too perfect. The quiet calmed her. It made her smile for a moment. Now she looked back into the house at the two men bickering. Down deep, she knew Sheamus hurt. But after she met Jack, she felt how he hurt as well.

Jack complained, "What's she on about? She knows nothing about anything!" Sheamus turned to him, his eyes full of fire, "Ya wanna know why she said what she said? Her parents got murdered when she was 20 years old. Sa she's got that grief. Then, she thought she loved someone. He turned out ta be an evil man. She survived a devastating fire, a horrible marriage, being abused and lied ta. She's lost everything and everyone she ever loved. But she's still alive."

He looked outside at Christine, "And I love her. I'd do fer her love. I'd kill ta keep her safe..." He whispered, hanging his head, "...I have killed ta keep her safe." Jack looked at his older brother, "What did ya say, fella?" Sheamus stood firm, "I said what I said. I hadda kill a man. Ya might as well know. Yer all my family." He looked at his mom and dad, who looked horrified. Davina fretted, "Stephen, no!"

Sheamus affirmed, "Yes. It's the truth. We were celebrating Drew and Cherry getting married. There's some nasty evil people out there. Christine's ex-husband. He and Cherry's ex, and Taryn were all in on it tagether." Martin stood up, "Taryn? That tarted up twat! I was taught ta turn the other cheek, but it's very hard with her. what she did ta Drew..."

Sheamus nodded, "Aye, not only Drew, Da. The fire Christine talked about? She set it. The time I was cheated out of an Intercontinental title shot? Her. Drew almost killing himself with the alcohol? Her. And there are sa many more things she's done. Cherry's ex brutalized here. She experienced unspeakable horrors at his hands. Well, they all came ta ambush their engagement party in Ayr."

Jack was silent as Sheamus talked, "Myself and Haggis, we were fighting the two idiots. I still got bruises and pain. But that bleeding idiot bragged about what he had done ta her and told me he'd hurt her again." He shook his head, "I just got this strength. I didn't stop...I killed him. I'm not proud or happy about it, guys. But that woman..." He pointed to her outside, "I'd protect her with my life with not even a thought. And she'd sacrifice herself fer me or anyone in our gang. It's just how it is. I don't make apologies. Not now, not ever."

It was quiet in the kitchen for more than a few moments. Jack took a deep breath and asked, "Sa, ya love her, ya?" Sheamus nodded, "Of course I do! Are ya daft? Jack. We're not getting any younger. I need my brother. Same as I need Drew. I love both of ya. Neither one more than the other. I don't want this strife. Not fer us, not fer our parents."

Jack sighed, "I didn't know ya'd been through sa much lately." Sheamus countered, "We didn't exactly advertise this. And ya never once bothered ta reach out yerself, Jack." Jack said, "I guess I'm a bit of a jerk. I just terrible expressing my emotions. OK, I'm proud of ya, fella! I always have been. And I'm happy ya found success and ya found yer gal. I'm happy yer back home." Jack extended his hand out to Sheamus, who took a deep breath, grabbing his brother's hand and pulling him to a hug. Davina and Martin smiled at each other. The brothers Farrelly had been reunited.

Christine felt the weight fall off her shoulders as she embraced the quiet. She smiled, knowing that her beloved heart was healed. she came back inside the house, just in time as Sheamus and Jack still stood in their embrace. She said, "Oh! If there's an issue, I can go back outside." Sheamus sighed, pulling her to him on his left side as he still hugged Jack, "Nope. None at all, Lass. We're complete now. Our family."

Christine couldn't help but to get emotional over his words. She hid her face from them, trying to hold her tears in. It was when she felt Martin and Davina hugging her as well, she cried. Davina calmed her as she sobbed, "Oh, child. Let it out. Ya got sa much hurt, I know." Christine said, wiping her eyes, "I'm, oh gosh, I'm sorry." Christine didn't feel uncomfortable suddenly. It was the same feeling she had around the Angels and the guys. She could be herself. Now, she really longed to have them by her side.

Martin said, "Stop that talk. Ya got yer family now. We're yer family." He held the still crying Christine as he rubbed her back, "Our Stephen told us how strong ya are. The first time he told us about ya, Mum and I knew. We were yer guy's age once. He told us how ya helped Drew and Cherry." She sniffled, "I was always a loner. I mean, after my parents died and the fire."

Martin smiled, "but ya came out stronger from the flames, Lass. There's a legend of a bird, rising from the ashes. The Phoenix." Christine looked up at him, "Funny you should say that. It's my code name at work. But it's more than that. Much like Sheamus is Stephen's alter ego. The Phoenix is me." Sheamus smiled, his eyes locked on hers, "She's my fiery Phoenix, Da. She claimed my heart and consumed my life. Meeting Drew saved my life bacause we went ta America. Meeting Christine saved my heart and made me believe in love."

He kissed her gently, whispering in his native Gaelic that she was his soul, his heart and his life. Davina asked, "Well, I hate ta break this lovely thing up, but where's this wedding?" Martin asked, "Aye, and why aren't ya having Andrew and his wife here?" I'd like ta meet the woman who finally calmed Galloway down. Gods knew that young man needed guidance and a kick in the arse!"

Christine laughed and asked Sheamus, "So does everyone just harass McInFart?" He said, "Yep. We've all been doing that fer many, many years Lass." Christine held Davina and Martin's hands, "Ma, Da, it was my idea to come here alone. We'll get everyone together back in Nashville, after their babies are born, after the New Year. But I felt we couldn't leave Stephen's home, his place of birth without us married in his homeland. You have me to blame."

She said emphatically, "I found a little place close that does elopement weddings. It's in a beautiful old pub not far from here. I've already booked it for an hour from now." Davina screamed, "Oh shite! But ya don't have a dress! And Stephen's clothes…MY clothes!" Christine said as she took a beaming Sheamus' hands, "I don't need a fancy dress. I left it to Cherry to have the most gorgeous wedding in all of Europe. I just need Stephen to say I do."

He smiled, "Oh, and ya better fooking believe I da!" He kissed her hard and proper, then shouted, "What's everyone waiting fer? Let's get ta that pub and get married!" As the five of them, scurried to get to their cars, Christine felt a sudden pang of guilt and sadness. But her pride wouldn't let her think about how much she wanted Cherry and the entire Angels crew there for her big day.

But little did she know at that very moment, the same people she was trying to avoid were stepping off the Jamie Lu in that private airfield in Dublin. Led by a very hurt Cherry, they were bound and determined to not let Christine and Sheamus elope without their presence and the life changing news they possessed for them.
