The Doublin Affair: Part 5 - The Interruption

McFerson's Pub - Dublin Ireland

Sheamus and Christine smiled as they looked at the door. They should've known their Angels family would never allow them to elope without being there for them. And they wouldn't have it any other way. The confused barkeeper asked, "And who are ya, young lad? Yer a big one!" He nodded first at Cherry, then to the others, "Mah name's Drew Galloway, sir. This is mah missus. Our family. Stephen, the groom, has been mah best mate fer over twenty years. Christine, she's mah sister." He gave her a wink.

The barkeep said, "OK. Well then, what's the issue, lad?" Drew looked at Sheamus, "Tha issue here is, sir, that we promised each other, as young men, ta be there, good or bad. He was the best man in our wedding yesterday. Sa I'm here ta be his. I'm fulfilling my promise, mate." Jack yelled at Drew, "Hold on a damn minute! I'm the best man here! I'm his brother. His real brother! Ya best be sitting yer ass down, Galloway."

Cherry had heard enough, "I don't give a damn who you are! You will not be rude to my husband! You're the one that needs to sit your ass down!" Davina worried, "Jack. Don't be upset. Let yer brother choose." Jack grumbled, "Choose?! He made his choice. Right, dear brother?" Sheamus looked at Jack, then at Drew. The barkeeper said, "I'll give ya all a bit, OK? We're not open today sa ya all can figure this out."

The barkeeper sat down as Jack and Drew eyed each other. Neither one moving. As tall as Jack was, Drew was at least five inches taller. Sheamus and Christine only looked at the two men. Sheamus sighed knowing he had a choice to make. Jack's attitude came through, "Oh and listen, redhead gal. I don't know ya but ya better just…" Drew stepped up quick and shook his head, "Oh, I should sit down? Well, I'm not gonna do that, mate! And if ya talk ta mah wife like that again, I'll knock ya on yer arse!"

Jack fired back, "First off, not yer mate. Never will be. Second, this is family business. Yer not family. She's not family. Stephen is my brother. These are our parents. Go be with yer gang." He nodded at the door. Drew growled, "Not family?! Ya can sod off, ya wanker! I'm just as much his family as ya are! I've spent a hellova lot more time with Stephen than ya! Ya never even called him fer years! But yer right..." Drew shot a pained look at Davina and Martin, "They are yer parents. And I got a hellova lot more respect fer them than ya. Sa I'll sit and shut my mouth before something happens." Drew narrowed his eyes, huffing a bit at Jack.

Sheamus and Christine went to them, hoping to make peace. But Jack hollered, "Ya best don't be making any noise. I'll drop ya, Galloway!" Martin stepped in and bellowed, "Jack, stop it now! Ya let yer brother have his friends here. We know all of them. We've not met their ladies yet, but there's time fer it." Jack moaned, "Seriously, Dad?"

Sheamus said, "Drew! Jack! Please stop arguing." Christine looked at the two of them, then at Sheamus, "Yeah guys, please stop." Sheamus looked at them both, "Look, fellas. I love ya both. Jack, yer my brother. Always. We're the men of the family. One day, dad will be gone. Drew, yer my mate. My best friend. Also, my brother. Always." Drew snorted, "Always."

Sheamus continued, "But I can't have ya both fighting. Ya both are hard heads. One of the reasons why I love ya both." Christine said, "How about both of you guys stand up next to Sheamus? What's wrong with two best men? We've never played by anyone's rule anyway." Sheamus said, "Phoenix is right. I'd love ya have both of ya as my best men. Bacause ya are. If yer both willing. Drew? How bout it, fella?" Drew shrugged and mumbled, "I guess. If it's ok with yer Ma and Pa. Aye. Ya know I'm with ya. Always."

Sheamus went to Jack, "Jack? Yer my brother. We've reconciled. Our family is back together. Can ya do this fer me?" Jack looked at his parents, then smiled and nodded, "Ah, it's ok with me. Today's the day fer forgiveness. Let's start fresh. Start new. Of course, ya know I'm in, brother." Drew nodded at Jack, extending his hand to Sheamus's brother. Jack shook Drew's hand.

Cherry smiled, but then her look turned hurt and angry looking over at Christine, who nodded. She took Cherry's hand, walking over to the corner, "Come here for a bit." Cherry had been stewing on this since she woke up that morning and found out they had left. She shook her head, "So, you ran off, on my wedding night, huh? Come on, Chris! Do you have any idea how bad that hurt?"

Christine hung her head, "Cherry, I'm sorry. I had this feeling. Only I didn't know why or how. Now I know." Christine looked at the two brothers. Cherry eyed them, "Sheamus and his brother?" Christine held Cherry's hands in hers, "Yep. I needed to unite them. And now, they're together. The family is together. We're together." Cherry removed her hands and paced, "Christine, you know it's complete bullshit that this was the entire reason you did this!"

Christine looked down. She knew Cherry was right as she continued, "You still think you're that lone wolf all alone in the world! When will you get it through your thick head that you're not? I had you stand up as my maid of honor because I love you. But you ran the moment my back was turned and didn't want me to do the same for you? That shit hurts, Chris!"

Christine exhaled and put her hands to her face, "You're right. You're right about everything. I'm sorry! I told you before I fuck everything up that I touch." Cherry retorted, "Then let us help you make it better when you do! That's what we all do for each other. We're all in this together and we are here for you! You don't have to run anymore! We are all together here for you and Stephen. I don't know if you know yet, but Randy asked Denise last night. Kevin asked Lady. And they are getting married too! And I know they want you there as much as I did for me."

Christine smiled, "Wow! Babies. Marriages. Us. You and me. I'm so sorry, Cher!" The two women embraced hard. Christine sniffed, "Remember the night after the kidnapping? When it was you and me alone. You hung out at my place, and we talked that entire night. About our hot guys." Cherry looked at their guys, "How we had been dreaming about those two. And now, our dreams have come true. We have our hot Celtic daddies!"

Christine glanced at Drew, "Might I say, Sis. My bro needs to wear that leather kilt more often! But if he shows up at an event like that, the ladies are gonna go nuts." Cherry laughed, "Yeah. He just got it. Kinda like a Scottish Warrior homage to 3MB. Believe me, I know how sexy he looks in it. I'm constantly undressing him with my eyes." Christine wondered out loud, "Speaking of that, so how was the wedding night?" Cherry smirked, "I'm surprised I'm able to walk." The two laughed and hugged again, with Christine saying, "Tore you up? Good job, Bro!"

She came out of the embrace and took Cherry's hands, "Cherry, I'd love it if you were my maid of honor. Actually, I want all of you to be my maids. Because you're all equally special to me." Cherry said, trying to hold back tears, "Christine, I know I'd be honored. I'm sure the girls would too. You know I can't be mad at you long. I was a just confused and upset."

Christine said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by it. But you know how I am. I'll try to be better about that." Christine looked at the entire group. Cherry smiled, "Looks like you got your family, girl. I got my hot Scottish Warrior. You got your Irish Daddy. Lady has her Irish Knight. Denise has her Viper. We're gonna have babies..."

She stopped talking and gasped at her own words, "I'm so sorry, Christine! I didn't mean anything by that!" Christine held up her hand, "Don't be. I'm not treating that as a tragedy anymore. I'm done being a victim in any capacity. I'm gonna be the best auntie those babies could ever have. It's not going to be a hindrance. Not to me, not to Stephen. I'm finally OK with it. Our past, those two assholes are gone and they're never coming back. We won, Sis." Cherry hugged her again, "Yeah. Our warriors stood up and took care of business."

Cherry's expression changed to serious as she waved Lady and Christina over, "Sheamus. Drew. Kevin. Come on over. Guys, Lady has some news she needs to tell you. And you really need to hear it before you get married. This will affect you both." As the others came to sit down, Christine was eyeing them, "OK, Cher. You're scaring me. Is everything with you guys and these babies?" Denise waved her hands in front of her, "No, no! Nothing like that. We are fine and all babies and moms are healthy.

Lady started, hesitant and not quite knowing what to say, "Well, first of all, I'm glad we caught you guys. We were never going to allow you to do this alone. " Sheamus said "Yeah, I think we knew deep down you would all make it here. Yer stubborn that way and we love ya fer it." Lady said, "Thank you. Well, so do you guys remember the young girl who came to HQ right after Drew's rescue?"

Christine said, "Alyssa. I remember her." Lady nodded "Well, I watched you two closely. How you interacted, and I couldn't help but notice there were similarities in appearance and mannerisms. Well… I…" She looked at Denise, starting to lose her confidence, who picked up the story, "Well, Lady wanted to be cautious, given that you had that feeling about Adam still being alive. You were obviously dead on with that one."

Lady interrupted, "So, I took a DNA sample from Alyssa's cup that she drank out of that night, and one from you with your hairbrush. I had them sent for analysis…" Before Lady could finish, Christine, shutting her eyes, blurted out, "We're related. Aren't we?" Lady looked down at the floor, "You have a twenty-five percent match. Enough for a familial match."

Christine looked at Sheamus, "My half-sister. It all makes sense now." Cherry said, "But you haven't seen her in years." Christine nodded, "I haven't. We never got along. See, my mom and dad were once separated. My dad had a lot of fun while they were split up. And one of the ladies he was plugging came up pregnant. She had a little girl, Claudia. My mom accepted it when they decided to get back together, but the woman was bitter and hateful that dad didn't marry her. Claudia grew up in that toxic environment and learned to hate me. She saw me as the reason she "didn't have a father". She hated me so much, in fact, she aligned herself with Adam and Taryn when they tried to kill me."

Everyone with Cherry and Drew gasped, horrified that anyone would side with a monster like that. Kevin was aghast, "Even after what they did ta ya, lass?" She nodded, "I learned to block out her crap. When Cherry saved my life and found me, I found the sister I always wanted. But anyway, Claudia had this baby girl, never revealing who the father is. Probably another burnout hanger on of Adam. So, I'm sure whatever this kid has heard about me is just a basket of roses."

Denise broke in, "Guys, I just looked up the news about the fire. There was a woman who was killed in the blast named Claudia Young. I'm guessing this is her." Christine said, "She went by her mom's last name." Drew said, "So, that means Phoen is this kid's only living relative." Christine looked morose and sad, "It appears that way. And Alyssa said her mom told her to run to us. I guess whatever relationship she had with Adam went sour and he offed her."

Sheamus had been pacing, but stopped when he heard this, "Well, there is only one this ta do, lass. After we're married taday, we legally adopt her." Christine's eyes grew wide, "What?! Stephen, I can't ask you to assume that kind of a responsibility. We don't even know her." Stephen smiled, "Ya don't have ta ask any such thing of me. Ya said yerself ya wish ya had a piece of yer parents with ya. Didn't ya?"

Christine was flabbergasted, "I was meaning another keepsake of some sort. Not a child from the half sibling that hated me!" Sheamus would not be deterred, "Lass, ya wanna be a mother. Ya can put up that facade all ya want but I know it's yer heart's desire. Well, here's yer chance! Our chance! And this child, if she had been mistreated or misguided in any way, we can help her. She needs our help, Lass. Ya have a chance to right a wrong that was done ta yer family. If she was exposed ta Adam and his foolishness, maybe we can guide her."

Christine's eyes were brimming with tears, "And you're still willing to marry me and go through this?" Stephen cradled her face in his hands "Lass, my Phoenix, I was willing ta beat the life out of someone that harmed ya. I am willing ta go through hell and back to be with ya. This is a blessing we've been looking fer! If yer wanting this, I will be there with ya through anything and everything. I love ya, my Lass!"

The tears flowed and her voice broke as she embraced Sheamus as tight as humanly possible, "Oh god, I love you so much! I don't know what I did to be so lucky to have you, but I'll gladly do it a million times over!" Sheamus looked into her eyes and thumbed away her tears, "Nah, Lass. I'm the lucky one that ya walked inta that meeting that day."

The group sat with smiles and tears watching the scene unfold. Drew reached for Cherry's hand and kissed it, then pulling her into the crook of his arm. Drew decided to be a wise ass as he walked over to them, "OK, break it up, ya two! If I'm not mistaken, and I never am…" This prompted eye rolls and laughter from everyone.

He happily continued, "I believe we're not just here at this lovely pub ta drink. C'mon brother, you got me hitched yesterday. Now it's time fer ya ta do the same." He and Kevin dragged Sheamus away, but not before stating, "And by the way, none of ya would let me see my missus befer tha wedding and all that bollocks. But they got ta shag tha night befer theirs? That was not cool!"

As they took Sheamus away, Christine screamed, "But the wedding night more than made up for it, Bro!" Drew hollered back, "Not the point, Phoen! I was horny as hell that night!" Laughing as the heard Davina chastising Drew for being a naughty boy with Martin's gregarious laughter in the background, the four Angels looked at each other, sighed, and fell into a big group hug. They came out with happy tears and giggles. Cherry grabbed Christine's hand and squeezed it, saying, "Come on, Sis. Let's get you married to your Irish Daddy."
