The Jukebox and The Bracelet
Riverside: Nashville, Tennessee
This calendar has now flipped over to the first week of March. Nearly week after their wedding, a nearly nine-hour flight from Dublin, and a stopover for house shows in Florence and North Myrtle Beach, Drew and Cherry were finally back home in Nashville. They opened the door to their home on Riverside for the first time as a married couple. Cherry sighed, "Oh my god! It feels good to finally be home!" Drew smiled at her, "Aye. It does." He swooped her up into his arms as she giggled, "Drew! What are you doing?" He kissed her soundly and said, "We're married! I gotta carry ya across the threshold, my Love."
She hummed, "You're such a romantic!" He carried her in and sat her down in front of the door before retrieving their luggage. They were greeted by their two large male cats, Hunter and Chaz. She picked up Chaz and Drew knelt down to pet Hunter. She cooed, "Oh, I missed you sweet babies so much!" Drew chimed in as he stroked the Maine coon's head, "And guess what? Yer getting two human siblings in a few months! What do ya think of that, boys?" Both cats looked most uninterested in anything but getting loved and petted on.
Drew looked at his phone as he got a text and abruptly said, "Love, I hate ta do this, but I need ta go meet Sheamus fer a little bit." Cherry huffed and protested, "Are you serious? We just spent a week with him in Scotland and watched him and Chris get married in Ireland. This can't wait, Baby?" She put her hands on his chest and started rubbing, knowing how much that turned him on. Drew groaned, "Oh god, I fucking love it when ya do that!" She purred, "And what about when I do this?" Her hand went down to caress the giant bulge in his jeans.
He sighed as she started to remove his shirt and unbutton his pants, "Ya mean tha seven times we shagged fer our wedding night, twice in tha pub's office in Dublin, and the three times on the flight back across tha pond wasn't enough fer ya? Not ta mention how we broke in those two hotel room beds in South Carolina." She looked up at him and batted those green eyes he always got lost in, "Was it enough for you, baby?" He picked her up and wrapped her legs around his waist, "Never!"
He put her up against the wall and she tried to push his jeans down with her feet as his hand went under her short skirt yanking on her panties. But then his phone buzzed, and he knew it was Sheamus texting again. Drew hissed, and had to be resolved, "Fuck! Damn it, I do have to meet him." Cherry started to pout, "Baby, please! I want you inside me!"
Drew groaned loudly, but he put his pointer finger to her lips and said, "Gods, I want nothing more than that sweet honey. Damn it, I have ta go! But please, hold that thought for when I get back home. It'll be time fer Daddy ta fuck ya good and proper." She conceded with a pout as he pulled his jeans back up and threw his black Johnny Cash t-shirt back on, "You promise?" He kissed her gently on the lips and smiled before leaving out the front door "Love, ya know I'm a man of my word."
Taylor's Thrift: Downtown Nashville
Twenty minutes later, Drew met Sheamus at the address he had texted to him near Lower Broadway. Drew glanced at the establishment's door, and back to Sheamus, looking confused, "A thrift shop? I left shagging my hot wife ta meet ya at a thrift shop? Bloody hell, wanker! And how did Phoen let ya leave the house? Aren't ya sapposed ta be adopting and picking up Alyssa?"
Sheamus looked way more impressed, "We have ta wait on the paperwork ta clear bafer we go get her from the Detective keeping her. And fella, this ain't just any thrift shop. It's the biggest thrift shop in the state of Tennessee! This place literally has everything. And fer fook's sake! Ya two have done nothing but shag since ya got married! Let the poor woman breathe fer once!"
Drew smugly puffed out his chest, "Well that's true. That office at that pub in Dublin after yer wedding was something else! Not ta mentioned tha three times on Phoen's plane on the way back. Not my fault she can't get enough of me." Sheamus rolled his eyes, "ANYWAY! Ya said ya wanted ya get Christine something as a thank ya fer saving the babies, even though she said ya owe her nothing. And ya wanted ta get Cherry yet another wedding gift. Ya know how they both love antique stuff. This place is perfect! C'mon in!"
Drew walked in the front door with Sheamus and, as the glass door shut behind him, he was immediately impressed, "Holy shite! Yer right! This place is huge!" Sheamus proudly said, "Eh, see? Ya know how much our ladies love this stuff. And ya never know what yer gonna find." Drew said, "OK, I wanna get Phoen some sorta cool, funky jewelry sa her hands and wrists will rattle more. And Cherry…I have no idea. I've bought her so many things already."
As they browsed around, Sheamus said, "Who says ya have ta get her anything? Ya two are happy and married finally. And it sounds like all she wants is that tadger there between yer legs." Drew looked around and said, "Which I was getting ready ta give her when ya texted me, sa thanks a lot! I know I don't have ta, but I wanna get something special fer her. She deserves it and more than I could ever get her." Sheamus asked, looking around at the trinkets before him, "Any idea what?" Drew shrugged, "Not sure, mate. But I'll know it when I see it."
An elderly gentleman came out from the back room and said in an old Southern accent, "Welcome, young gents! I'm Ben Taylor, owner of Taylor's Thrift. Is there something I can help you find?" Sheamus nudged Drew, who said, "Aye, sir. I'm looking fer a couple of gifts. My sis loves antique and rare jewelry and I'm looking for something special fer the new wife." Ben's eye got wide and said with a smile, "Well! You came to the right place, son. Come up to the counter. That's where I keep all the jewelry. Take a gander and see what strikes your fancy."
Drew and Sheamus perused through all the pieces: earrings, necklaces, rings…nothing was hitting Drew right until he touched an unusual bracelet. He lifted it up and looked at the piece: it was a silver chain link with blue moonstones encrusted on a few of the chains. Drew started having an itch on the back of his neck, almost like static electricity. He asked, "Hey Sheamo, what da ya think of this fer Phoen?" Sheamus looked on in approval, "I like it! She'd love that actually. Moonstone is her birthstone. It's perfect."
Ben gulped and asked, "Are ya sure about this one? We have much prettier pieces. What about this diamond and silver anklet?" Drew shook his head and said, "It's not about how it looks. I just have a feeling my sis would love it. How much?" Ben firmly said, "$300." Sheamus nearly choked as Drew gaped, "$300 fer a chain link bracelet? Are ya daft?"
Ben nodded, "Son, ya don't understand. This piece has quite the history. They say this bracelet was involved with an old murder suicide back in the 1960s and that it may be a cursed and haunted item. I'm not taking any chances with my mojo. $300, take it or leave it." Sheamus said, "OK, brother. Let's go somewhere else. This price is outrageous!"
But Sheamus looked at Drew's face and knew his interest was piqued. An unusual bracelet with a possible mystery attached was right up Christine's alley. Plus, he had a strange feeling he couldn't quite shake… He put the bracelet down on the counter and said, "Sold! Now let's find something fer the missus." Sheamus shook his head, "Yer bleeding crazy ta pay that!" Ben looked hesitant but said, "I'll start the paperwork."
As Sheamus walked away, Drew pulled something out of his pocket and asked Ben, "Sa how much would this fetch me?" Ben considered the diamond ring, and raised his eyebrow, "You're already giving up on the wife, son? This ring is quite pricy." Drew shook his head, "Nah, the wife's ring is better than this. It was from a previous mistake that thankfully never happened. Would this cover some of the purchase?" Ben examined it and said, "I think an arrangement can be made. Depends on what else you find. Go take a look around and I'll work on this."
Just then, Drew heard the familiar mariachi horns from the beginning of "Ring of Fire" coming from the side room. Johnny Cash was one of both his and Cherry's favorite artists. Drew walked towards the area where the song got louder, feeling that static on the back of his neck again even stronger than before. He found the source of the music as Sheamus joined him.
A lightbulb went off in Drew's head, "A jukebox! Sir, can you tell me about this jukebox?" Ben came into the room and said, "It's a 1964 Wurlitzer. Fully loaded with records from around 1965 and before. It came from an old honky tonk that was torn down many years ago." Drew smiled, "It's bloody perfect! Cherry told me she always wanted a jukebox going back to when she was a child! And she loves music, especially classic country. How much ya want fer it?"
Ben flatly said, $1000." Sheamus coughed, but Drew was undeterred, "I'll take it! Good thing I drove the truck today." Leaving Sheamus flabbergasted, Drew walked to the counter with Ben, who said, "Your total is $1,300. This ring will pay fer half of it. Your total is $650." Drew smiled and stuck out his hand, "Ya gotta deal, sir." As they shook hands, that static charge came back, leaving him to scratch the back of his head.
Drew received all the finished paperwork from Ben and paid him. The entire time, Sheamus shook his head, not believing how much Drew was willing to pay for the items. Drew looked at him, "What? I can't put a price on the happiness on Cherry's face when she sees this." Sheamus rolled his eyes, "Mate, yer crazy fer this. But I get it. Ya love yer missus. You'd do anything fer her."
Drew confessed, "Besides, I also used the engagement ring I was gonna give…her and sold it fer half the payment." Sheamus said, "Well, that fooking thing wasn't doing ya any good but collecting dust and shitty memories of a shitty gal. I guess that's fair. Now that was truly a cursed item!" Drew agreed, "Tell me about it, mate! I dodged a bullet with that one! I got the best gal in ta world now."
Drew and Sheamus hauled the jukebox into the truck bed and shut the tailgate. Rounding the back, he took the bracelet out of his pocket to place it in a red box. As he touched the jukebox, he received another shocking static charge. But this one was way more powerful and was accompanied with a brief vision of blood and sawdust on a wooden floor. He shuddered and stopped in his tracks, with Sheamus asking, "Mate, are ya ok? Ya look like ya've seen a ghost."
Drew came back to and shook the cobwebs out, "That was strange, but yeah. I'm good. Let's get these back ta the house and surprise tha gals. They should be having their little get tagather with Krystal now. I know I'll be getting shagged rotten tonight with this gift." Sheamus rolled his eyes, walking to his truck.
But the entire ride home, Drew was troubled by the strange vision he received in the parking lot. This image was so vivid, he could smell blood, beer and gun discharge. He tried to put this image from his mind for the time being. He had other better things to think about, like his beautiful wife waiting for him at home. He smiled at this thought.
Riverside
Just as Cherry had gotten her and Drew's things put away and started laundry from the Scotland and Dublin trip, the doorbell rang. She opened the door and squealed, "Krystal! You're here!" Krystal stepped inside and hugged her tightly. She said, picking her suitcase back up, "Yes ma'am! My larger stuff has been put in storage until I find my own place, which I pinky promise will be as soon as possible. I have no desire in crashing your wedded bliss for too long."
Cherry waved her hand as she showed her the guest room off the downstairs bathroom, "You are not crashing that. Believe me, nothing stops Drew when he's in the mood. He's such an animal that way…" Her words trailed off as she looked like she was going into a daydream. Krystal waved her hands in front of her eyes, "Yo, girl! Wake up! I'm still here! That was all kinds of weird." Cherry blinked, "Oh, sorry! My bad. Still in the honeymoon phase after all. The girls are on their way over to decompress and welcome you to Nashville. But there is something I want to talk to you about before they get here."
Krystal said, as they walked back into the living room, "Sure, then show me all of this incredible house. You really did amazing for yourself." Cherry shrugged, as they sat down on the couch, "Well, country singers pay very well to find out if their significant others are cheating on them, and vice versa. I bought this when I saved up enough living with Denise. I knew it was mine as soon as I walked through the door the first time. I finally felt at peace here and I needed that after…you know."
Krystal nodded, "Yeah, I know. And I also know that damn shithead is dead, so you no longer have a thing to worry about. And you got you a fine ass husband who will do anything for you. So, what's going on?" Cherry exhaled, "It's come back, Krystal. You know what I mean. The entire time I was in Scotland, I felt it, even stronger than before. I don't know if I've become more open again due to all the stress we were under over there, if it's being pregnant, or because Scotland was so ripe with the energy. But my sensitivity is back, and it scares me."
Krystal sighed. She knew what she was talking about. Back in their youth, Leslie had seen and communicated with ghosts. She would get a tingle on the middle right of her scalp and weird things would happen. She once witnessed Leslie having a full conversation with someone she couldn't see and followed her as she sleepwalked to a graveyard. The ghost had led her to their own grave. Her sensitivity had stopped when Phil had threatened Leslie to "give up the spooky shit" or he would "beat it out of her" if she talked about ghosts again. So, Cherry learned how to suppress her abilities.
Krystal said, "I see. Did you tell Drew about it?" Cherry shook her head, "No, not yet. I know he would support me no matter what. He's a believer in the paranormal. But I'm just really frightened. I don't want anything to happen to the babies. I can't be drawn into something dark while I'm pregnant with them." She clutched at her lower belly.
Krystal nodded, "I agree with that. Well, maybe your sensitivity was just stronger there. Scotland has a shit ton of history, so it could be that. Have you ever felt anything like it here?" Cherry said, "No, not at the house. I've had strange sensations in other places around town, but nothing major. You could be right about that." There was a knock at the door, signaling the rest of the Angels' arrival. As Cherry got up, Krystal said, "Let's see how it goes now that you're back home. It may be nothing to worry about."
Cherry nodded in agreement as she opened the door to Lady, Christine and Denise. She hugged each one, but especially tight for Christine, "Hey there, old married lady!" Christine huffed, "Ha! You got married the day before me, thank you!" Krystal got a glass of wine for her and Christine and sparkling water for Cherry, Denise and Lady. They raised their glasses in a toast as Denise said, "To us. Wives, fiancés, soon-to-be moms, and the five finest ass women that ever strutted around this city!" They all screamed, "Cheers!", and clinked their glasses together.
Cherry said, "So, Smackdown in town tomorrow night. I know, Denise is going to be working with Sheamus and Chris to get her up to speed on Angels' techie stuff during and after the show, and Lady and Kevin have a fancy frou-frou party to go to. Krystal, we haven't had a girl's night just you and me in ages. Let's say we go out and I'll show you how Nashville turns it out."
Krystal gushed, "Yes, please! Wait, are you sure Drew won't mind?" Cherry smirked, "Nah. He's not like that. Plus, he knows I will more than make it up to him when I get home." The girls laughed and Lady said, "Oh, we'll drink to that, Sis!" Cherry said, "OK, it's settled. And tomorrow morning, Drew and I will take Krystal to our favorite gym to work out." Christine said, "Count me and Sheamy in on that too. With this whole Alyssa thing and everything that happened in Scotland, I need to hit the bag some."
Just then, Drew came strutting through the door, "Hey Baby! Daddy's home! Oh, hey gals." The girls giggled as Cherry greeted him with a kiss, "Krystal just brought her stuff here. You're later than I originally thought you would be." Drew said, "Well, I have a good reason, I promise." Christine said, "Where's my hot Irish daddy? You met him at that shop, didn't you?" Drew rolled his eyes, "First off, ew! Second, he's outside getting something ready fer me. But first thing's first. Phoen, this is fer ya."
He handed her the red box and she looked at him, "Bro, what is this for?" He shrugged, "Ya saved my babies. It's the least I could do." Christine looked at him as she opened the box, "And I told you that you didn't have to pay me back except to love my Sis and those babies… But holy shit! This is so cool!"
Drew smiled, "And from what the thrift shop guy told me, it plays a part in some murder mystery. I knew it was perfect fer ya since ya love that true crime stuff and cool jewelry." She hugged his neck, "Bro, thank you! I love it. And you know I'm gonna investigate this murder mystery!" She wrapped it around her wrist and pushed in the clasp. She said, "The clasp is a little loose, but I can work with it."
Drew then turned to Cherry, hearing Sheamus grunt at the door, "Ok Love, yer next! Close yer eyes. It's yer big wedding gift!" She sat down and laughed, "You got me so many things already, Drew. Mostly replacement lingerie for the ones you ruined by ripping them off, but this is too much!" She heard him and Sheamus groan, the girls gasp with excitement and her interest was piqued.
After a few moments and some banging on the floor, Drew said, "OK, open those beautiful green eyes, my Love." Cherry opened them and trained to where his voice came from. She saw the large object against the wall. She squealed and jumped up, "Oh my god! A 1964 Wurlitzer jukebox?!" He beamed and did his best Vanna White impression showing it off as she ran to inspect it, "Complete with records from 1965 and before, all classic country. It came from a bar that was torn down some time ago. Do ya like it?"
Cherry put her hand over her mouth, "Like it? Drew, I freaking love it! This is the coolest gift ever! But does it work?" He raised his hand, "Aye, and it's set fer free plays fer infinity. Just tell me ya love it and you'll shag me later as payment." Cherry jumped into his arms and kissed him. Sheamus rolled his eyes, "I think we know her answer!"
Krystal marveled, "She has literally wanted a jukebox her entire life. You really are a gem, Drew!" Christine went up to it and said, "My Bro is the best. Hey Cher, can I pick a tune!" Cherry waved her hand as her lips stayed locked with Drew's. She selected A1, "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. As she turned to walk away, without her knowing, the clasp on the new bracelet came undone and rolled under the jukebox, as if being pulled under by a magnet.
The songs played on as the celebration continued, and they were joined by Randy and Kevin. They were all looking forward to getting back to some semblance of normal after what they all went through in Scotland. As everyone raised their glass in a toast, Drew said, "And congratulations to Denise, our newest member of the Angels! And to Krystal, the newest employee of WWE!"
As they all talked and laughed, Christine noticed a faraway look in Cherry's eyes. She sat next to her and put her hand on her belly, "Hey, pretty mama. Penny for your thoughts. If you want us out of here so you and Bro can get it on, just say so." Cherry blinked and smiled, "No, it's just… These songs. Many of them were my mom's favorites. Finding out that I'm pregnant made realize just how much I miss her and I need her now more than ever."
Her eyes got even mistier when the next song came on, "Waltz Across Texas" by Ernest Tubb and its melancholy steel guitar rang through the room. Cherry bit her lip, "She loved this song. It was her favorite. She always sang it around the house." Christine hugged her and empathized, "I know. I get it. But if I've learned anything, it's that she is always with you. She's literally alive inside of you now with those two babies, just like Angela. And I know I'm no substitute for her, but I'm here and I love you."
Cherry wiped her eyes, "I know. I love you too." They continued to celebrate as Cherry and Drew showed Krystal around their Riverside home. Drew laughed, "Don't be too surprised if ya wake up with both cats in the bed with ya." Krystal said, "Oh, I don't mind. I love cats." Drew noticed Chaz and Hunter both standing in front of the jukebox. He found it odd that they were just staring at it. No movement to rub their heads against it or anything.
Cherry patted Drew on the butt, "Hey Baby! What is it?" She snaked his arm around her waist and smirked, "Eh, just the cats are acting strange." She shrugged, "They always act strange." He said, "Yeah but…I dunno." She said, "OK what's going on?" He sighed, "It's just… Well, I had a weird feeling when I loaded the jukebox inta tha truck. Probably nothing." She narrowed her eyes, "Are you sure?" He got close to her face, "Yeah. I'm fine. What I'm most sure about is I can't wait ta fuck my wife in our home fer the first time tonight." He wagged his eyebrows as she laughed, "You are such a dork, Andrew. But you're my dork forever." She bit her lip and purred in his ear, "Oh, and I want my Daddy to fuck me into oblivion tonight."
After their guests had left and Krystal was settled in her room for sleep, Drew set about doing just that. They practically ripped each other's clothes off like horny teenagers on their first time. Cherry surprised Drew by shoving him on the bed. She crawled up between his legs and wasted no time putting her lips around his already erect cock. Drew groaned as she lovingly sucked him off hard and steady. His breath caught in his throat she took him in over and over again, "Oh fuck! Gods, ya know how ta suck that cock! Baby, ya need ta get up here and ride yer Daddy! Now!"
She looked up at him with that devil look in her eye that drove him insane with want. She did as he requested and slid up to straddle his hips. She kissed him hard as she used her hand to guide his throbbing member to her already wet and needy entrance. She slowly impaled herself on his length with a whimper coming from her lips, trying to stifle her cries to not disturb Krystal, "Mmm shit, Baby! God, I love fucking you! I love that cock!"
Cherry bucked on him front to back, side to side and bounced on him like her life depended on it. The entire time, Drew's greedy hands fondled her full succulent breasts. Drew growled, "Goddamn it, I need those tits!" He sat up and proceeded to start sucking hard on her nipples, going from one to another. She adjusted her legs wide to each side of his hips and dug her heels in the mattress, still thrusting hard on him as she arched her back, allowing him easier access to ease his ache for her large mounds.
She moaned, "God! Baby, I'm about to cum! Oh fuck, Drew! You feel so good inside me!" He hummed, "Oh I feel ya, my Love! I feel ya clamping on me! Cum all over me!" He reached in between their bodies and roughly circled her clit. She let out a squeal as she tightened in orgasm, which triggered his hot release deep inside her like a tidal wave with a loud grunt.
She trembled in ecstasy, then collapsed in his arms like jelly, all her strength sated and zapped from her body as Drew still pulsed and spilled inside her. Both sweaty, panting and spent, he tilted her chin up and planted a sweet, deep kiss on his lips. He wrapped his arms around her, and she did the same, holding each other close in a tight embrace and proclaiming their love for each other.
After cleaning themselves off, Drew came out of the bathroom last after a shower and smiled, finding Cherry already fast asleep on her pillow. He got under the covers, turned off his bedside lamp, and pulled Cherry to his chest. His kiss lingered on her forehead, saying, "Sweet dreams, my Love. My heart. My wife. I love ya." Not long after that, he was lost in slumber himself.
Cherry was deep into her dreams when she was awoken by a muffled sound as if she was underwater. She glanced over at Drew, who was lightly snoring. But this wasn't what she was hearing. This was coming from downstairs, and it sounded like music. She looked at the clock on her bedside table: 1:35 AM. Slightly annoyed to be awake that early, she picked up Drew's discarded Johnny Cash t-shirt off the floor, put it on, and left the bedroom to investigate.
The closer she got to the stairs, she started to recognize the song. It had been another favorite of her mother. She recognized the dreamy piano riff and haunting orchestration anywhere as "Here Comes My Baby" but Dottie West. The words are beautiful, but very sad: Here comes more tears to cry / Here comes more heartaches by / Here comes my baby, back again / Here comes more misery / Here comes old memories / Here comes my baby, back again / My arms are open wide to let more hurt inside / Here comes my baby back again / He's sorry once again, once more I'll understand / Here comes my baby, back again
She descended the stairs and went to the jukebox, which was lit up with the water in the colored tubes running as the tune continued. She crooked her head and thought, "I thought we turned this off before we went to bed." As she stood in front of the jukebox, she was joined by Hunter and Chaz, who looked up at her and started to meow loudly. They growled as the put their paws on the jukebox.
As this happened, a massive cold chill ran through Cherry's body, and the back of her head felt that familiar tingle. She started to get frightened, but just as quickly, the song ended and the jukebox cut off, leaving the cats looking around in confusion. She felt the same emotion, looking around the room in fear and wonderment.
Just then, she heard that sexy voice, but this time it made her jump, "Love, what are ya doing down here?" Startled, she gasped as Drew put his hands on her shoulders. She turned around said, "Jesus! You scared the shit out of me!" He soothed her, "I'm sorry, Love I didn't mean ta. Are ya OK? And what's up with the cats? I heard them meowing and carrying on. Did they wake ya up?"
She shook her head, "No. Actually, the jukebox came on. It woke me up so I came down to turn it off when I heard the song." Drew looked confounded, "What song?" Cherry said, "Her Comes My Baby. It was just playing before the jukebox cut off." Drew shook his head, "I didn't hear a song. I just heard the cats and saw ya standing here. Love, are ya sure yer OK? Maybe it was a dream."
Cherry protested, then conceded, "Yes, but the song was… You know, maybe that was it. I was dreaming." Drew looked concerned, "Ya need ta be careful about that. I don't want ya falling down the stairs sleepwalking. Ye've never done that bafer." She nodded, "Yeah, you're right. But I'm sure this was a onetime thing. Come on let's go back to bed."
He asked, as she pulled her up the stairs by the hand, "Are ya positive yer OK? Ya seem shaken." She reassured him as she got back under the covers, "I promise I'm fine. I just need to snuggle with my handsome husband." He smiled as he complied with her request, pulling her close to lay her head on his chest. He kissed her on top of the head and said, "Let's get some sleep, Love."
But Cherry did anything but that. She was haunted by the event with the jukebox the rest of the night. But she knew she had to do everything she could to suppress what she felt downstairs. That sensation, her sensitivity was back in full force. And she could and would not allow this affect her pregnancy. But still, she could not shake the feeling something was calling out to her for a reason.
