I walked back to the nurses office, not needing to have any injuries healed but to check on the others that came with me and the two boys from 1-A. The two seem like good people, and aside from being impaled by one of them, were probably good company.
I walked through the door and found myself walking on air, the purple glow of Yanagi's quirk enveloping my body. It seems that the group changed to playing Twister in mid-air. It looked terrifying.
"Why haven't any of you gone back to the stands?" I question the group as they all turn their heads toward me.
"Yanagi still wanted to try out her quirk with the gear you gave her, I wanted to make sure that nothing happened, Midoriya is fanboying over her quirk and is writing stuff down and Todoroki didn't have anything better to do." Kendo explains for the group as she moves her hand to a green circle on the mat.
"Her quirk is really strong, though perhaps that's just the helmet on her head. How much is she able to lift normally without it, by how much does her strength increase because of the helmet? Are there any side effects that come from using the helmet? Does the helmet give her any other benefits like increased intelligence or is it only a quirk-enhancing device? Does it work with other quirks or does it only work with telekinetic quirks like Yanagi's? What would an enhanced version of Todoroki's quirk look like, maybe the temperature of his ice would reach absolute zero and his fire would reach the scale of that like Endeavour's or maybe even hotter? How does the helmet even work? Is it injecting a chemical into the brain from those syringes or is it interacting with her brain waves? There's just so many things that this device could be used for that I can't even begin fathoming the possibilities."
We all just stare at the boy who came out of his mumbling and writing to start asking questions to Yanagi, though when he sees me I'm where he turns his attention.
"Oh, you're the one who gave Yanagi that helmet aren't you?" I nod my head and his eyes sparkle. "How did you make it? Will it only work for Yanagi or will it work on quirks like Todoroki's? Can you make more? It is part of your quirk?"
"Okay, slow down Greenie. One question at a time please." I watch as the boy takes a step back and takes a breath. When I'm sure he's good I start answering some of his questions. "To start, my quirk is called {Dueling Spirits} and it gives me access to cards that contain the spirits of monsters from another realm."
"Woah! That's so cool, how many cards do you have access to? Can other people use them?" And there he goes muttering again.
"I haven't checked how many cards there are but from what I can tell I have around 10,000 unique cards to use. Other people can use them but only through my quirk." Midoriya's eyes shine before gaining a face of confusion.
"What do you mean by 'through your quirk'?" He has his notebook at the ready to write down everything I tell him.
"My quirk lets me bring the cards to life, I'll show you." I pull a card from the air again and used my quirk to bring it to life. From the card came a brown ball of fluff, one that Midoriya recognized. "This is Kuriboh, you ran into him a while ago."
"So it is like Tokoyami and Dark Shadow, you just have more variety compared to his being only one being." Midoriya writes things down in his notebook and I swear I can almost see smoke coming from the pencil.
"Anyway, other people aren't able to bring the cards to life unless my quirk is… how can I say this… interfacing? Interacting?... Whatever, my quirk can connect a person to me and then they can use a limited selection of cards that is based around the person. I don't have any control of what cards are chosen though, I can only choose the cards I use." I explained to him as best I could and he takes everything to heart it seems and continues writing it down.
"I see, it could be that your quirk makes the selection based on quirks, personality or even the monsters' choices themselves. Kuriboh is fully sentient, right?" He looks up at Kuriboh, the small monster making a noise for him.
"Yup, every monster is fully sentient, they all make their own choices but they will listen to me." Kuriboh floats to Midoriya and ends up sitting on his head, causing him to chuckle and stroke the furball.
"So you can bring cards to life, and let others bring a selection of cards to life. Is there anything else your quirk can do?"
"Yup, I can use the monsters powers for myself, so some of my stronger monsters like my dragons, I can use their power without summoning it. If I do that I gain some of their characteristics like wings and a tail, it all depends on the monster." I would show off my Blue-Eyes form but Recovery Girl is coming over and she looks like she's about to hit me with her can.
"Alright, everyone out. I don't know why you all think you can just hang around in here, this is a medical area, not a playground." Recovery girl whacks my head, not even sure what I did to deserve that, and we walk out, Yanagi setting us down so we can walk normally.
As we make our way back to the stands I start thinking of something. Greenie is clearly interested in my quirk and wants to see it in action, and I want to make things more exciting for my match, so this would be the perfect way to get him into a duel.
"Hey Greenie, you're in the last match of the semi-finals aren't you?" He looks at me and nods his head, making me grin. "So am I. I want to change things up a bit in our match, I offered the same to Frenchie but he refused. Let me use my quirk and we can fight that way."
Greenie ends up putting his hand on his chin and starts muttering under his breath. I can't make out what he's saying but it's clear that he is considering agreeing to my request.
"I'm fine with that, but is there a way we can still show off my quirk in the match? We are competing to get scouted so if I can show off a bit then I'll have an easier time." I nod to him and consider what he's saying.
He's right, the sports festival is about getting scouted for internships with pro heroes. I've already stood out with my record-breaking performance in the first event of the festival so I see no reason not to agree.
"Sure, if you're fine with it can you tell me your quirk so I can help you in some way?" He tenses up for a second, though no one else seems to notice. He relaxes quickly before becoming a stuttering mess just like when I first met him.
"S-sure, my q-quirk is c-called {Superpower} and it g-gives me super s-strength." Not sure why he's become a nervous wreck. It's not like he needs to hide anything. "T-though the i-increase of strength i-is more than m-my body can h-handle." Ah, so he breaks himself whenever he uses it.
"Alright, I think I might have a monster that can help you show off your quirk." I have a monster in mind, one that will help him show off but will also make sure he's remembered by the crowd. "All you need to do is punch it as hard as you can."
"A-are you s-sure that's a g-good idea? What i-if I hurt your m-monster?" Greenie continued to stutter in worry over my monster's wellbeing, not that I can blame him. If his power is too much for his body to handle then it must be a lot of power.
"Don't worry, the monster that I'm gonna bring out can't be destroyed unless very specific things happen." I tell him with a sly smile on my face. I was so going to make sure this was memorable.
"Alright, i-if you say so." He finally agreed, nodding his head as he and Todoroki made their way back to their class booth. Me and the girls also returned to our booth, our classmates worrying over my shoulder after being impaled by that ice spike.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WELCOME BACK TO THE FIRST YEAR SPORTS FESTIVAL! WE JUST FINISHED THE FIRST ROUND OF THE TOURNAMENT MATCHES AND WE ARE NOW PREPARING TO START THE QUARTER-FINALS!" The voice of Present Mic continued commentating on the event, the crowd cheering at his announcement.
"WE JUST WITNESSED 8 MATCHES, 16 STUDENTS DUKING IT OUT FOR A CHANCE TO STAND ON THE PODIUM. NOW IT'S TIME TO WATCH 4 MORE! LET'S INTRODUCE THE FIRST PARTICIPANTS!" This got the crowd even more fired up, the screens around the arena also lighting up for everyone to see.
"FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ARENA, WINNING HER LAST MATCH THROUGH FORFEIT, SHE'S THE EVER READY VICE REP OF CLASS 1-A, MOMO YAOYOROZU!" Coming from the right tunnel into the arena, Yaoyorozu entered, not paying any mind to the whistles and catcalls of the crowd.
"AND HER OPPONENT, ENTERING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ARENA, WINNING HER LAST MATCH THROUGH PUSHING HER OPPONENT OUT OF BOUNDS, IT'S THE EVER SILENT, YUI KODAI FROM 1-B!" Also walking onto the field, her face as cold as ever, but her eyes showing her determination, Kodai prepared to face the class 1-A vice-rep.
The two stopped a good distance away from each other, waiting a few moments before speaking.
"I look forward to having this match with you." Yaoyorozu bowed her head to Kodai, waiting for a response from the girl.
"Mm." Was all that the vice-rep of 1-A got.
Yaoyorozu looked a bit shocked at the lack of a real response, and also a bit offended. Unfortunately, she didn't know that aside from her friends or family, that was all she was capable of saying and that Kodai wasn't dismissing her.
"Are both contestants ready?" Before Yaoyorozu could think about the matter too much, Midnight called out to both of them and waited for the nods. When they came she raised her hand in the air. "The… BEGIN!"
Kodai didn't advance, instead, she reached into her pouches, grabbing a few pebbles and preparing to throw them at her opponent. Yaoyorozu on the other hand rushed forward, her arm glowing as she made a metal pole.
Choosing to create obstacles for her opponent to get through, Kodai threw a few pebbles in front of her and off to the side so that Yaoyorozu would be easy prey for another pebble.
Yaoyorozu, understanding what her opponent was doing, stopped in her tracks and began trying to think of a way to get through this without falling for the obvious trap. Thinking of something, Yaoyorozu unzipped her jacket and activated her quirk, creating something from her stomach.
Kodai, thinking that this was taking too long, decided to investigate what was happening. Going to the edge of the pebble wall, Kodai looked around it and saw her opponent making something from her stomach, though she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings while doing so.
Taking advantage of the situation, Kodai quietly walked behind the vice-rep and activated her quirk once again, this time increasing the size of a nail instead of one of her pebbles. Placing it on the back of Yaoyorozu, getting a shocked yelp of surprise in response, Kodai waited to hear a surrender or her win.
"I-I surrender…" And with that utterance, the first match of the quarter-finals came to a close with Yui Kodai coming out as the victor.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE ARE ABOUT TO START THE SECOND MATCH OF THE QUARTER FINALS! IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE IN THE BATHROOM RIGHT NOW, TOO BAD 'CAUSE WE AIN'T STOPPING!" Present Mic's commentation echoed throughout the stadium, grabbing the attention of everyone who was waiting.
"WE JUST WITNESSED THE DEFINITION OF 'GIRL POWER', NOW LET'S SEE IF THESE BOYS CAN SHOW THAT SAME FEROCITY!" The crowd, not for the last time of the day roared to life again, watching in anticipation as the next match was about to start.
"LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD! COMING IN FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ARENA, HE'S THE AGGRESSIVE BOMBER, THE EXPLOSION OF POWER, FROM CLASS 1-A, KATSUKI BAKUGOU!" Walking into the arena, Bakugou kept his hands in his pockets and stared straight ahead waiting for his opponent.
"AND COMING IN FROM THE LEFT-HAND SIDE, HE CAN RECITE THE ENTIRE U.A. RULEBOOK WITHOUT FAIL, HE'S THE LITTLE BROTHER OF PRO-HERO: INGENIUM, CLASS REP OF 1-A, TENYA IIDA!" Walking in with his back straight as always, Iida entered the arena, the light shimmering off his glasses.
The two boys from class 1-A glared at each other, nothing vicious but out of determination to win, at least on Iida's part. They didn't even wait for Midnight to ask if they were ready before lowering into their combat poses, Iida taking a runners starting position and Bakugou taking a wide stance with his arms at the ready.
"If both contestants are ready…" The crowd was silent as they waited with bated breaths for the clash between the two boys. "BEGIN!"
"Recipro… BURST!" With a roar from his engines and blue fire from his exhaust, Iida disappeared in a burst of speed that no one had seen from him before. In the blink of an eye, Iida was mere steps away from Bakugou, ready to shove him from the arena.
To Bakugou, the world had slowed, him in the zone acting on pure instinct. He blasted one palm, allowing him to avoid being pushed out of the arena, though Iida did manage to slap his arm when he breezed past him.
Still in the zone and taking advantage of the surprise that Iida felt that his opponent dodged his secret special move, Bakugou raised his other hand and blasted Iida in the back, pushing the boy down and to the ground a few meters away, where his hand just passed the boundary line.
"Tenya Iida is out of bounds, Katsuki Bakugou moves on to the semi-finals!" Midnight announced the results and the crowd began cheering again.
Bakugou stood there for a second, looking at the fallen form of his classmate as thoughts rushed through his head at speeds that would've made Midoriya impressed. Thoughts such as: 'If I was even a millisecond slower…', 'If he was closer…', 'If he tried to grab instead of shove…' all these thoughts leading to one thing in the end. 'I would've lost.

"AND WE RETURN WITH THE NEXT MATCH OF THE FIRST YEAR QUARTER-FINALS! WITHOUT WASTING ANY TIME LET'S GET THE NEXT MATCH UNDERWAY!" Present Mic's voice caused a roar from the crowd once again, also a grumbling from Eraser Head who ended up being chained to the chair after he tried to quit commentating on the matches.
"HE DOMINATED HIS LAST MATCH, CREATING A BRAND NEW GLACIER IN ONE MOVE AND FREEZING HIS OPPONENT IN HIS TRACKS, FROM CLASS 1-A, IT'S SHOTO TODOROKI!" The heterochromatic boy walked into the arena, his eyes cold as he stared across to the tunnel his opponent would come from.
"AND FACING THIS POWERHOUSE WITH NOTHING BUT HIS SHEER DETERMINATION AND MANLINESS, WE HAVE THE SHIELD OF 1-A, EIJIRO KIRISHIMA!" Said 1-A student walked out of his tunnel with a smile on his face, banging his fists together as he used his quirk to create sparks.
"I know I probably don't stand a chance against you Todoroki, but I swear I'm gonna give it my all to beat you." Kirishima held out his fist, hoping that Todoroki would return the gesture but he was sadly met with cold, unmoving eyes.
"If both contestants are ready…" Midnight spoke, Kirishima lowering his fist with his smile smaller than it was before and moving to his starting position as Todoroki did the same. "Then… BEGIN!"
Kirishima charged forward, yelling as he activated his quirk and reared back his fist. Todoroki stood firm, not moving in the slightest. When Kirishima reached the halfway point, the smallest bit of frost could be seen in the air.
Faster than Kirishima could react to, a wall of ice built itself in front of him, but unlike with the fight against Rin, the ice didn't encase his body. It stopped right in front of Kirishima, any spikes being pointed directly at the sky to avoid any future injuries.
This wall of ice didn't stop Kirishima though, the hardened boy plowing through the ice with his fists alone. The crowd started cheering for Kirishima, hoping for an underdog win.
With one final punch, the ice wall exploded into shards of ice and fell down to the arena floor.
"Come on Todoroki, why don't you use a big attack like what you used on that 1-B boy? You think I'm not manly enough?" Kirishima taunted Todoroki, but the ice and fire boy stood firm. "Fine, I'll just punch that attack out of you!"
Kirishima charged once again, fist ready to attack or block any attacks that would come his way. He ended up charging into another ice wall that still didn't try to encase him, the spikes still being pointed away.
"This isn't going to stop me!" He continued smashing his way through the ice, even as more came to stop his approach. Finally, as frost covered the right side of Todoroki's body, Kirishima managed to break through the walls of ice and punched Todoroki in the gut.
"You think you can just stand there and act as if you're all high and mighty? Not give your all against me? That just isn't manly. Now show me your all!" Kirishima demanded.
Todoroki remained on the ground, contemplating a few things in his mind, arguing with himself and trying to catch his breath after being punched in the gut.
'I can't… I'll hurt someone again… I'll be just like him…' Todoroki let his gaze wander over the crowd, finding his father in the crowd with a frown even visible from here. His gaze quickly averted away from him, ending up in the booth for his sister class.
His eyes made contact with the boy he impaled with his ice, and with a simple nod from him, everything changed. He wasn't his father, he apologized, tried to make up for his mistakes. He wouldn't make another mistake like that.
"Fine." And with that, the gates to the arctic were opened and Kirishima was cocooned in ice up to his neck. There was no explosion or glacier this time, simply a box of ice that housed Kirishima.
"Kirishima is unable to move, therefore, Todoroki wins!" Midnight announced and Todoroki quickly used his quirk to defrost his classmate. Maybe he could make up for his mistakes in the next match, if Clay won against Midoriya that was.
—
"WE HAVE MADE IT TO THE LAST MATCH OF THE QUARTER FINALS FOLKS, THE EXCITING MATCH THAT WILL DECIDE WHO WILL BE FACING OFF IN THE SEMI-FINALS!" At the mention of the last match starting the crowd returned to their seats after buying the food that the business course were selling.
"LET'S NOT KEEP YOU WAITING ANY LONGER! HE CAME SECOND IN THE FIRST ROUND OF THE SPORTS FESTIVAL, HE CAME SECOND IN THE SECOND ROUND AS WELL, IT'S THE GREEN BEAN FROM 1-A, IZUKU MIDORIYA!" Midoriya walked into the field, his nervous smile on his face as he sheepishly waved at the crowd.
"AND NOW, HE'S BEEN THE FRONT RUNNER IN THE ENTIRE FESTIVAL, BREAKING ALL THE RECORDS WE HAD PREVIOUSLY, THE CLASS REP FROM CLASS 1-B, IT'S CLAY!" Clay walked onto the field, a confident smile on his face as he waved to the crowd as well, hyping them up more.
"Before we begin, Clay, will you be using your quirk to change how this match will be playing out?" Midnight questioned Clay as the crowd settled down. They were all anxious to see how his quirk could change the tournament match and hoped that he would use it.
"I will, but after I survive a single attack from Midoriya. I want to make sure he can show what he can do for any potential scouts." I smile in Midoriya's direction and he scratches the back of his head embarrassed.
"Very well then, after a single attack from Midoriya, if Clay survives the attack, then the match will become a duel, following the rules of Clay's quirk. More will be explained when it is relevant." Midnight spoke for the crowd, appeasing them and getting them more excited for the match.
"Then if both contestants are ready for the match…" Midoriya nodded his head for Midnight, followed by a nod from Clay. "Then let the final match of the quarter-finals… BEGIN!"
"Detroit… SMASH!" Midoriya rushed forward, nothing impeding his path as he approached Clay and prepared to punch him. He was told there would be a monster, but not where it would appear so he just targeted Clay.
Clay for his part stood completely still, a calm smile on his face as he imagined how funny this was going to be. He summoned the monster where the punch was going to connect and waited for contact.
When there finally was contact it was as if a hurricane was blowing through the arena as dust kicked up and obscured the view of Clay and Midoriya. The crowd directly behind them had to hold onto their seats and any accessories, the risk of them blowing away being very real.
When the wind finally died down, it took a moment for the view to clear, enough that everyone was able to see what had happened.
Standing with his arm outstretched was Izuku Midoriya, arm definitely not broken like it usually would've been, and completely stunned by what he was looking at. Where his fist had made contact with what he assumed was Clay, was a pink blob, almost like rubber with how his fist sunk into it. On this blob were two eyes, innocent looking and adorable, a smile also appeared on the creature.
"W-what? But I u-used 100%?" Izuku drew his arm back, inspecting it as if his arm was the problem.
"Oh, you definitely used 100%," Clay's voice spoke, grabbing Midoriya's attention from inspecting his arm. "It's just that Marshmallon here can't be destroyed by battle. You can burn him, you can freeze him, crush him, electrocute him, hell, you could even eat him, it won't do squat."
Clay's voice was loud enough for the entire crowd to hear as he explained what happened, though they had a hard time believing what they were hearing. They almost thought that he was making fun of the crowd and Clay probably would've thought the same thing in their position.
"I can see that you all doubt me." Clay announced as he looked around at the crowd. "So before we continue to our duel, why don't I let Endeavour show you that I wasn't lying and that Midoriya really did give it his all."
The crowd cheered at this and Midnight placed her finger on an earpiece in her ear, speaking for a moment before sighing and nodding her head.
"If Endeavour wishes to come down here and test his strength against Marshmallon then can he please come down to the arena." Midnight announced to the crowd and the crowd cheered louder, chanting Endeavour's name. With everything that was happening Endeavour was practically forced to come down and fight against Marshmallon or lose face with the public.
After a moment of waiting Endeavour jumped down to the arena and walked to Clay, his sneer still present on his face.
"You have a lot of nerve boy, dragging me into this little stunt of yours." The number 2 hero spoke to Clay, though he still reached out and grabbed Marshmallon before unleashing a small fire on the small pink blob.
After a few seconds of letting the fire continue, Endeavor let his quirk die out before releasing Marshmallon, dropping it to the floor as it was charred to a crisp. The crowd was silent, waiting for something to happen, and Endeavour let out a huff before turning to walk away. As he did though, a cough sounded from behind him.
Shaking the char off of its body, Marshmallon bounced back to Clay as he rubbed its head. He also used his quirk to use [Elemental Hero Bubbleman]'s powers and created a few soap bubbles for Marshmallon to clean itself.
"So it can take a small warning fire, then what about a full blast." Endeavour reached down and popped the bubble that the pink blob was using to clean itself before throwing it into the air. When it reached the apex of the throw, Endeavour used his quirk and unleashed a full-powered blast on the pink blob.
The crowd all shied away from the intense heat that Endeavour produced from his flames, though when the fires died down they all waited with bated breaths for the results. Just like before, the pink blob of joy waited for a moment before shaking itself awake.
The crowd cheered at seeing the pink blob survive the full-powered blast from the number 2 hero, though one person wasn't cheering. The number 2 hero himself.
"What trickery is this? Nothing could've survived a flame that hot." Endeavour questioned Clay, not believing the pink blob should've been able to survive his blast.
"I told you, Marshmallon can't be destroyed by battle. He's the ultimate shield!" Clay raised Marshmallon into the air, similar to the opening scene from The Lion King. "He could be the best hero on his own!"
With Marshmallon raised into the air, the crowd went nuts and started throwing flowers that they got from… somewhere… people were whistling, one woman even went as far as to throw their bra for Marshmallon.
The pink blob just looked around itself, not quite sure what was happening but enjoying the attention it was getting all the same. It even liked how warm that big man made it, though it was nothing compared to when [Elemental Hero Nova] decided to spend some time with the blob. It gave a smile to the crowd and half of them dropped unconscious from the cute factor, and the other half had nose bleeds.
A/N: Marshmallon could absolutely get away with murder and no one would give a damn. That is just how cute he is. Fight me.
The match between Izuku and Clay is up next. It's going to be a duel, though I'm debating whether to do an Action Duel from the Arc-V anime or just a regular one. Let me know what you think.
Also, we saw Todoroki struggling a bit with his fight against Kirishima, just thought I'd throw in something like that so it didn't seem like Todoroki just shrugged off impaling someone with his ice.
Midoriya is also going to use a Hero deck, though he's not going to be using any of the Omni Hero's (Like Nova or Absolute Zero) or any Neo Spacian or Neo fusions. He's going to get the fusions between the main batch, like Avian, Burstinatrix, Sparkman and Clayman.
Also, still debating who I should do for the internships. Mirko I don't think would be a good fit for Clay, they'd probably get along in fighting but I want something a bit different from just fighting. I saw a Nighteye suggestion, that would be a good way to introduce Eri into the story, though I'm not sure if I should introduce her in the cannon timeline or in the internships if I do that.
If you have any suggestions let me know, OC's are still allowed and even encouraged. Though if you do that, make sure you include Name, Hero Name and Quirk. You can add a personality though I might deviate from it if I do decide to take your OC.
I think that's it. So...
See ya!
