The months of Summer break came and went, the monster girls learning much in this time, having learned all the information they should know by the time they started at Beacon and even learned some martial arts from some of their teachers to further improve their already insane combat. The teachers had suggested them making their own weapons, but the monster girls felt that it wasn't needed, since they had their natural weaponry that gave them options for close-to-long range combat capabilities, with the exception of Onyxia, though she did accept some Dust Crystals to replace her need to dig her first into the ground for moss or magma, plus it gave her options for elements she never had access to in the past.
But the bottom line was, they now had the knowledge and skills they needed, with Ozpin himself confirming that the four of them were easily worthy of being students at Beacon.
And thus, Silver stood out in front of the massive school. Other than the fact she occasionally likes to come outside and look at the building, as it reminded her quite a bit of the Citadel she once called her home, she observed the new crop of students that would be joining her and the other monster girls as first years. And she had to admit, she saw potential in a lot of these newcomers, of course, they were still children, but they certainly seemed to have the makings of any Hunters back in their old world. And she was quite amazed at some of the weapons she saw these new students carrying. Of course, she had seen Coco's weapon, a simple purse that turns into a massive Heavy Bowgun (they were still having SOME troubles with proper terminology on this world), but that still somewhat fit into the kinds of weapons she had seen from her world's hunters, whereas some of the weapons here were unlike anything she'd seen before.
However, the time for this peaceful observing was soon cut short when she heard a scream. "What are you doing?!" The screaming voice demanded. Silver turned to the sound and saw a young girl dressed in red and black on the ground, having apparently fallen back into a luggage cart, which must have belonged to the girl standing above her, dressed in white and red. The girl on the ground tried to hand the other girl her luggage, but said girl refused to calm down any, opening the case and taking out a vial of powder. "This is Dust. Mined and purified from the Schnee Quarry!" The girl explained in a haughty manner as she closed the chest and gave the vial a small shake, all of which released a small plume of elemental mist.
Silver's eyes widened at this information. Of course, one of the most important things they had to learn about in this world was Dust, as it's basically involved with everything in their modern life, so they had classes both explaining the history of Dust and how to properly handle and mix. And in one such class, Wisteria let out a sneeze, releasing some Hellfire from her mouth in the process that made contact with the Dust they were working with and almost exploded the entire classroom. And Silver could see the girl in black stiffening up and reeling back up, clearly about to sneeze. She wouldn't have Hellfire, of course, but powdered Dust is volatile enough that even a normal sneeze would cause an explosion.
Ruby slowly got up, still trying to be the better person and apologize, but the crabby girl wasn't letting up and still shaking the vial of Dust. She continued to lecture Ruby, but the scythe-wielder couldn't quite concentrate on what she was being told, as the Dust powder was irritating her nose and making her have to sneeze. She tried to fight it for a few moments, but soon lost that battle. However, the moment before she sneezed, everything seemed to go dark (or dark-ER, since her eyes were closed) as she felt something wrap around her and someone covering her mouth and nose. She opened her eyes and was surprised to see a scaly, clawed hand covering her face while what looked like two giant, purplish-blue curtains were folded in front of her, before moving away and allowing her to see that they were wings, both them and the clawed hand being attached to a girl about Yang's height who had to be a Faunus. But she was nothing like the ones she had seen before, being fully covered in plates and scales, standing on her tip-toes, having claws, horns, wings and a tail instead of the normal singular animal trait most other Faunus had.
The girl smiled down at Ruby. "Try to cover your mouth when you sneeze next time, little one." She told her.
Ruby was just amazed by the figure before her. "Whoa! Are you a Faunus?! I've never seen one like you, before! I thought Faunus only had ONE animal part! Your claws are so awesome! And your wings are so cool! Plus, your tail looks like a spear! And your horns are so pretty!" Ruby said, zooming all around the Faunus girl, popping up at every angle to observe her, grabbing one of her hands and raising it to eye level to observe her claws, jumping on her back and pushing on her wings to make her flap them, pulling on the end of her tail a bit, then appearing in front of her and grabbing her face to pull her head down to Ruby's level to observe her horns.
"Whoa, whoa! Easy, little one. I appreciate the compliments, but I'd also appreciate NOT having my limbs pushed and pulled around." The dragon girl said, grabbing Ruby's hands and pulling them away from her head, allowing herself to stand back to full height.
"Um, excuse me! I was talking here!" The crabby girl snapped.
"I saw that. But I'm not sure a conversation needs to, or even SHOULD, involve someone shaking a container of Dust. I'm quite certain that isn't the proper way to handle such a volatile state of energy propellent. I read a pamphlet all about proper Dust management and handling, so I'm fairly sure of what I'm talking about." The Faunus told the smaller girl. "And with a cloud of Dust in the air like that, an explosion easily could've occured. And certainly would have if this one had sneezed into it if I hadn't stopped her." She added, pointing at Ruby with her tail.
"Oh, yeah. Thanks for that, by the way." Ruby said.
"I KNOW how to handle Dust! Don't you know who I am?!" The girl demanded.
"How could I? I've only just met you." The winged girl said reasonably.
"Yeah, just because you act like a princess doesn't mean everyone in every kingdom knows your name!" Ruby snapped getting fed up with the girl's attitude.
"It's 'heiress', actually." Said a new girl, dressed mostly in black, wearing a bow on her head, as she walked up to the group. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellent in the world." The new girl said.
The dragon girl was a bit surprised at this. "Oh! And you're a renowned singer, as well. One of my friends is quite enamored with your music. I've never seen an image of you, though." She said, recalling how often she'd hear Wisteria listening to the girl's music.
"Finally! Some recognition! And let your friend know she has good taste." Weiss said proudly.
"Well, considering how broad her tastes are, there's very little that ISN'T to her taste." Silver said, unaware she had accidentally insulted both Weiss and Wisteria.
"Plus, that same company is infamous for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners." The bow-wearing girl added.
"Wha-?! How dare-!? The nerve of-!" Weiss exclaimed in indignance, before simply growling, turning on her heels and storming away.
"I promise I'll make this up to you!" Ruby called after her, hoping to do the right thing.
"I think the best way to make it up to her would be to leave her alone." The winged girl said.
"Maybe you're right..." Ruby said, looking down sadly, before realizing something. "Oh! I just realized, I never got your name! I'm Ruby Rose, by the way." She finally greeted the Faunus.
"Lovely to meet your, Ruby. My name is Silver Imperia." Her new friend greeted.
"Wow, Silver! Just like my eyes." Ruby said.
"Oh. I've never seen someone with Silver eyes. That's quite interesting." Silver said, looking at Ruby's eyes and ignoring the fact she barely knew ten people in this world. [1]
"And what about-?" Ruby started, turning to the bow-wearing girl, only to notice she was walking away as well. [2] Ruby sighed at this, realizing she had already made a negative friend and another girl wanted nothing to do with her. "Welcome to Beacon." She said sadly.
Silver wanted to help the girl, but her social skills were still lacking, to say the least. Thankfully, a blonde boy walked up, ready to help. "Hey..." He said, Ruby sitting up to see him. "I'm Jaune." He greeted, offering a hand to help her up.
"Ruby." She greeted, taking his hand and allowing him to pull her to her feet. She then realized something. "Aren't you the guy that threw up on the ship?" She asked.
"Well... I'm certainly glad I wasn't around to see that." Silver said awkwardly.
Blake walked to a different part of the school to await orientation, away from anyone else. The girls that the Schnee brat had been yelling at seemed nice enough, but Blake still wasn't ready to lower her guard and get to know other people just yet. Besides, the dragon girl seemed pretty perceptive and she didn't want to risk anyone discovering her secret. She knew she'd be made a part of a team eventually, but based on her research, she had heard there was a method to both who your partner would be and how your team would be made. So if she could manipulate things JUST right, she should be able to land on a team of people who were less than observant and she'd be able to coast through her time at Beacon without anyone knowing her secret. And so, she was content wandering around, reading her book until she heard the bell signaling it was time for orientation.
That was until...
"Hey, watch out!" A voice called to her, the tuna-lover turning just in time to see a purple fireball flying directly towards her. Both caught off-guard and processing a color she had never seen fire in before, she panicked and ducked instead of using her Semblance to dodge the attack, the fireball narrowly flying over her head. She looked back to see the fireball crash into a target and realized she must have stepped onto a shooting range. So she decided to simply thank her lucky stars that it was a fireball instead of a bullet. She then turned the other way to see a girl who had to be another Faunus, but just like the dragon girl back with the brat and the klutz, she had more animal features than normal, digitigrade feet, a tail, claws, canines that were more like fangs and horns. "You okay, kitty cat? You should watch where you're going. You almost got flash fried." The girl told her.
Blake looked at the girl and gave a slight roll of her eyes at the callousness of this girl, but she did have to admit she walked into the girl's LITERAL line of fire... (Wait, did she call her kitty cat?!) Blake thought in fear, gasping and shooting her hands to her head, where she felt a pair of VERY WARM fluffy cat ears, realizing that fireball must have burnt her bow off, while miraculously sparing her hair and the ears covered by the bow. "No... No!" Blake cried out, covering her ears with her hands.
"What's the big deal? So you're a Faunus, why's that a problem? I heard a lot of people are big fans of cat girls." Wisteria said dismissively.
"What do you mean what's wrong with that?! You HAVE to know there's huge amounts of bigotry towards Faunus, right?" Blake questioned, looking at her supposed fellow Faunus in disbelief, not understanding how a Faunus could be unaware of the hate towards their kind.
"Well, yeah. Of course I'm aware some people don't like us. I just don't care what people think. And I don't care to hide what I am like a scared little kid. Not that I could hide all of this." She says, waving her tail around and flexing her fingers to emphasize her claws.
Blake narrowed her eyes at this. "I'm not scared! I'm proud to be a Faunus! But I know plenty of people who wish they weren't. And I want to change that. I'll become a Huntress and make a name for myself, gain recognition and a following, then reveal I'm a Faunus, so people will see me, all Faunus, for WHO we are, not WHAT we are." She explained.
"Huh. From what I've heard, people usually don't take very kindly to being lied to, but hey, at least you've got a plan in mind. That's nice. And you're trying to do the right thing, good for you." Wisteria said, before looking at the still panicking cat girl before her, feeling a foreign concept to her. Sympathy. "Do you have another bow?" She asked.
"Yes. Plenty, but I'd have to go find my luggage for that. And I'd look like a crazy woman, running around, covering my head with my hands." Blake said, groaning at the idea of having to do that... Before the purple girl grabbed her shirt and pulled it off her. "What the-?! Hey, what are you doing?!" She cried out, covering her chest.
Wisteria said nothing, draping the shirt over her tail, before taking off her hoodie and putting it on the cat girl. "There." She said, pulling the food up to cover the cat ears. [3] "That should do until you can get your stuff." She said, putting on Blake's shirt. Which, considering their height difference, along with the fact the shirt already covered very little on its intended wearer, it might as well be a sports bra on Wisteria.
Blake was surprised at this and how the girl in front of her helped her for seemingly no reason. "Thank you. Uh..." She began, before realizing she didn't know the girl's name.
"Wisteria. Wisteria Champagne." She introduced herself.
"Wisteria. Like the flowers. Those are my favorite. I'm Blake. Blake Belladonna." She introduced herself
"Nice name. Good to meet you.. but I think it's time we get to orientation." The former Fanged Wyvern said, starting to walk off.
"Good idea." Blake said, pausing for a moment. "Think we'll run into each other again?" She asked.
"I'd hope so. I want that hoodie back." Wisteria said, continuing to walk away again.
Onyxia had been waiting around in the amphitheatre until orientation to start, not having the urges to meet or observe the new students or do any more training, so she just waited for Ozpin to give his speech so she could go take a nap. "Come on, Oz. The sooner this gets over, the sooner I can sleep." She said.
However, she suddenly felt someone lightly grab and squeeze her left bicep, letting out a whistle. "Dang, girl! You've got some nice muscles here." A voice said, the former Fanged Beast turning to the side in surprise to see a girl with long blonde hair and lilac eyes, looking at her muscles, impressed.
She raised an eyebrow at the girl's forward approach, but shrugged. "Yeah, well. Gotta be strong to stand up to the Grimm, right?" She said.
"Well, it's not the ONLY way, but in my opinion, it's the BEST way." The blonde girl said.
"Uh-huh." Onyxia said. She then got curious and lightly squeezed the girl's own bicep and was surprised her muscles were nothing to sneeze at. "Looks like you've been doing something right yourself, to get muscles like this." She complimented.
"Thanks. It wasn't easy getting these gains, but MAN, it was worth it." She said confidently, flexing a bit with a giggle. "I'm Yang, by the way. Yang Xiao Long." She greeted, holding her hand out.
"Onyxia Carnelian. Nice to meet you " Onyxia introduced herself and shaking her hand.
Yang then noticed the rocky plating on Onyxia's arms. "Whoa. Those are some pretty neat gauntlet..." She said, before looking over and realizing it was actually connected to the girl's skin. "Wait. You're not wearing gauntlets... That's your actual skin... and the rocks are connected to it." She said, struggling to process what she was seeing. "What's up with that?" She asked still struggling to believe what her eyes were telling her.
"Oh, yeah. It's a special adaptation from my species... Uh, you know, the species of animal that I'm a Faunus of." The former Fanged Beast explained.
"Huh. Neat." Yang said, not questioning the fact some animal supposedly had literal rock growing on it as a shell. She continued to observe the plating on the girls arms and hand. "Whoa. It's even on the first section of your fingers. That's gotta be one mean punch you've got." She said. "Too bad you probably couldn't compete in boxing, though. Even with gloves on, it'd still be like you were hiding brass knuckles in your gloves." Yang said.
Onyxia raised an eyebrow in interest at something Yang just said. "Oh, you like boxing? I'm a fan myself." She said.
Yang smirked at this. "Oh, heck yeah, I am! It's half of my whole style! Check these babies out!" She exclaimed, deploying Ember Celica.
"Ooh, not bad. Not as big as mine, but they're flashier." Onyxia noted.
"But that just means I'll be able to run circles around you." Yang said, playfully sticking out her tongue.
"Oh, we're definitely gonna have to see about that." Onyxia challenged.
"It's a date, then." Yang said flirtatiously. But unfortunately for her, her flirting would go nowhere, as Onyxia didn't pick up on the subtle hints. But still, both girls couldn't deny the other one had gained their interest.
Not too far away, on the other side of the Amphitheatre, Cerule was wandering around aimlessly, waiting for orientation to begin and- more importantly- end, so she could go back to playing video games. As a reward for modeling all different kinds of clothes for Coco, the fashionista had bought her a VR headset and a game where you are attacked by hordes of assassins and you fend them off with all manner of swords and other weaponry and even magic, so it would be a great way to play games, exercise and hone her combat skills all in one, even if she would be using her claws instead of swords in real life fights.
She had been so preoccupied thinking about her gaming, she didn't even realize she was approaching a girl in Spartan-looking armor with red hair in a long ponytail, flanked by an entourage of fangirls (who seemed to be rather unwanted, if the girl's nervous and awkward smile was anything to go by), until she accidentally bumped into said girl. "Oh! I'm sorry!" The Spartan girl apologized, only now snapping Cerule out of her train of thought.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. My bad. Sorry." She said, about to walk on...
Before a member of the unwanted entourage stepped in her path. "Excuse me? Do you have any idea who you just bumped into?" The fangirl asked.
"I-it's really fine, it was an honest mistake..." The Spartan girl said awkwardly.
"Nope. No clue who she is. I've never seen her before, so as far as I'm concerned, she's just another person." Cerule said, leaving the popular girl pleasantly surprised that someone didn't know her and was treating her like a normal person.
"What, do you live in a cave or something?!" The fangirl demanded.
"I DID." Cerule said, causing all of them to step back a bit.
However, the girl in front of Cerule shook her head and glared at her. "This is Pyrrha Nikos! She's a legend! She won the Mistral Regionals four years in a row! That's a new record! She's on the front of a cereal box, for Dust's sake!" She praised Pyrrha's accomplishments.
Cerule just shrugged at this. "Cool. Good job. Keep up the good work." She said. And once again, Pyrrha was pleasantly surprised someone wasn't hyping up her accomplishments and putting her on a pedestal.
"What is wrong with you?! You should be worshipping the ground she walks on!" The fangirl snapped.
"She really shouldn't..." Pyrrha said quietly.
"There's a poem I like in situations like this: 'roses are red, violets are blue and there's always someone who's better than you'." Cerule said, having learned that from Coco when they played a game together. "It doesn't matter how many things she's won, or how strong she is. She's still a kid. There's bound to be someone out there who can beat her. And if she was as far up her own ass as you are, it wouldn't take long for her to find that person, because she'd be cocky and she'd mess up. Just like you messed up by getting in my way. Now get OUT of my way, before THESE get in your way. Very closely." She threatened, readying her claws. This quickly unnerved the fangirls, causing them to back up, before finally fleeing.
"Thank you. It was getting pretty tiring having them follow me around, but I didn't want to hurt their feeling by asking them to go away." Pyrrha said.
"Why? If you've won this regionals thing they talked about, you shouldn't be afraid of hurting people." Cerule told her.
"That's a fight and we both understand it's not personal. But hurting someone's feelings for no reason doesn't sit right with me." The Spartan girl explained.
"Hey, they made it personal first by getting in your face and freaking you out. Turnabout's fair play. Don't let yourself be a doormat for people to walk all over. Just say what you wanna say, do what you wanna do, feel how you wanna feel, don't let anyone else get in the way of that." Cerule declared.
Pyrrha couldn't help but smile at this. "That's quite the interesting philosophy you have. I think I like the sound of that." She said, holding her hand out. "Allow me to PROPERLY introduce myself. My name is Pyrrha Nikos." She greeted.
"Cerule Snow." The Moonlight Nocturne introduced herself, shaking Pyrrha's hand, while also being careful of her claws.
Suddenly, they noticed a trio walking into the Amphitheatre, Cerule recognizing one of them to be Silver, accompanied by a small girl in red and black and a tall, scraggly blonde boy. A tall blonde girl was standing next to Onyxia and called the hooded girl over to her, Silver following her, leaving the blonde boy to wander off dejectedly. And during all this, she noticed that Pyrrha was looking at the boy quite intently. "See something you like?" She asked with a smirk.
Pyrrha snapped out of her trance in a small panic. "W-what!? No! Of course not! I was just... taking note of my fellow students!" She came up with an excuse.
"Suuure. I can SMELL the pheromones coming off you. I bet if other people weren't around, you would've tackled him and tried to make puppies right here." She said, causing Pyrrha to hide her face in her hands.
Silver had shown Ruby and Jaune to the Amphitheatre, before Ruby was called over by her sister. However, seeing Onyxia beside the the blonde girl, Silver decided to follow. "Well, looks like you've managed to make a few friends." The former Fanged Beast noted.
"Looks like you did, too. Good job." Silver said.
"Oh, you two know each other?" Yang asked.
"Oh, yeah. They were both in a special Summer program where they came to Beacon over the Summer." Ruby said.
"Oh, nice. Looks like we'll be coming to you guys for directions a lot." The blonde brawler said, before looking to the hooded girl. "How's your first day going, little sister?" She asked.
"You mean since you ditched me and I almost exploded?" Ruby questioned in annoyance.
"Yikes! Meltdown already?" Yang asked.
"That might have actually been less potentially destructive. She had a bad run-in with the Dust heiress, Weiss Schnee. And she was rather reckless shaking around a vial of Dust powder. Ruby was about to sneeze into it, which would likely have been catastrophic, but I stepped in and covered her mouth... And the rest of her." Silver explained, folding her wings in front of herself like a shield to prove her point.
"Oh, you met her? You should've gotten an autograph for Wisteria." Onyxia said.
"I doubt she would've obliged." Silver said.
"Well, thanks for keeping my baby sis safe." Yang said with a smile. "But man, the princess sounded like a lot to deal with. But, at least it's over now..." Yang said, before noticing a pale white form slowly approaching her sister.
"You two!" Weiss shouted at the hooded girl.
"Oh, God, it's happening again!" Ruby cried out, quickly jumping into Silver's arms as the former Elder Dragon closed her wings in front of herself and Ruby again.
"You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!" Weiss snapped, slapping on the wings in front of her to get them to open.
"Huh. I would've thought a prim, prissy heiress would be more polite than that." Yang said to Onyxia.
"Her voice in her songs always makes her seem so quiet and frail." The Wandering Colossus agreed.
"Can't we all just calm down and get along?! It was an accident!" Ruby cried out. However, something suddenly dropped onto her. Since Weiss couldn't get past Silver's wings, she simply tossed the "Dust for Dummies" pamphlet in the opening at the the top of her wings. "What's this?" Ruby asked.
Silver took the pamphlet with her tail and observed it, scoffing at the insulting and condescending nature of the title, finally opening her wings and setting Ruby down to glare at the heiress. "You know, I've read a similar and MUCH less insulting pamphlet. And I'm QUITE sure it said Dust is never to be mishandled, especially in its more raw and volatile forms like Dust powder. And I'm quite sure shaking it in someone's face with a loose cork is mishandling it. It also said such mishandling in reckless, irresponsible and rather dull-witted." The Demonlord retorted.
Weiss gasped at this. "How dare you?! What gives you the right to speak to me like that?!" She demanded.
"Look, uh, it sounds like you three just got off on the wrong foot. Why don't you start over and try to be friends, okay?" Yang suggested.
"Or, AT LEAST tone down the yelling. Maybe just try not talking to each other if it makes you that mad." Onyxia suggested.
"Uh... Great idea, sis!" Ruby said, ignoring Onyxia's option and holding out her hand as she cleared her throat. "Hello, Weiss! I'm Ruby! Wanna hang out? We can go shopping for school supplies!" She suggested.
Weiss seemingly became enthusiastic at this. "Yeah! And we can paint our nails and try on clothes and talk about cute boys, like tall, blond, and scraggly over there!" She said with sarcasm positively DRIPPING from her voice despite the enthusiastic tone, pointing to Jaune.
"Hm?" The boy questioned as he heard someone mention him.
"Wow, really?!" Ruby asked hopefully.
Weiss was dead silence for a moment as she glared at the hopelessly enthusiastic girl before her. "No." She said harshly.
"Jeez, a simple 'no' works just fine. You don't have to be a bitch about it." Onyxia said.
Weiss was about to snap at the former Fanged Beast, when the girls' attention was drawn to the stage, where Professor Ozpin was readying the microphone, with Glynda beside him. "I'll... keep this brief. You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills, and when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose, direction." The headmaster told them.
The students began to whisper among themselves. "Yikes. You spit in his coffee this morning?" Onyxia asked Silver quietly.
"Quite the far cry from the kind, welcoming man we've gotten to know." Silver agreed.
The headmaster then continued his speech. "You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step." Ozpin finished.
As Ozpin left, Glynda stepped up to talk. "You will gather in the ballroom tonight; tomorrow, your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed." She explained.
"He seemed kind of... off." Yang pointed out.
"It's almost like he wasn't even there." Ruby agreed.
"He's likely just done this speech so many times that he's grown tired of it by now." Silver theorized.
Jaune then approached Weiss from the side. "I'm a natural blond, you know!" He informed Weiss puts her hand to her face in exasperation.
"Dude, she couldn't have sounded more sarcastic if she tried." Onyxia told him.
Later, all the first years had gathered in the ballroom. The monster girls HAD been given a dorm, but for this night, they had to spend it with the other students to not arouse suspicion. Even if they hadn't met any new people throughout the day, the four Faunus girls with more animal parts than any Faunus should have with pure white, purple and red, stone gray and blue and grey skin tended to stand out, so people would notice if they weren't around. And so, the girls had mostly fanned out around the room: Cerule (in an oversized blue T-Shirt reading "chill on the front, along with white short shorts) was next to Pyrrha near the Southern wall and Wisteria (in a yellow tank top and red pajama pants) near the Western wall, with Silver (in a black nightgown with a hole for her tail to go through) and Onyxia (in green shorts and a brown T-Shirt [4]) were in the middle of the room beside Yang and Ruby, Onyxia on the right, Silver on the left and the sisters in between them.
Ruby, in her pajamas and with a sleeping mask around her head, was writing in a journal when Yang crashed next to her, similarly dressed. "It's like a big slumber party!" The blonde brawler said.
"I don't think Dad would approve of all the boys, though." Ruby said, not looking up from her letter.
"I know I do!" Yang said, before purring as she watched several muscular, shirtless guys. "Then again, the girls have something of offer, too." She said as she looked down in front of the boys where Wisteria was laying on her side [5], her take top having ridden up as she moved, now just under her bust, revealing a toned six pack along with her chiseled arms. Unfortunately, her view was blocked by Jaune walking by, dressed in footie pajamas, before noticing her looking in his direction, waving to her, which made her groan. She then returned her attention to Ruby. "What's that?" She asked.
"A letter to the gang back at Signal. I promised to tell them all about Beacon and how things are going." She explained.
"That's nice. It's good to keep in touch with friends." Silver said
"Aw, that's so cuuuute!" Yang teasingly cooed, only to be knocked back as a pillow was launched at her face.
"Shut up! I didn't get to take my friends with me to school! It's weird not knowing anyone here!" Ruby complained.
"What about Jaune? He's... nice! Plus, you've got Silver and Onyxia here, too! There you go! Plus three friends! That's a three hundred percent increase!" Yang reassured her.
"Pretty sure Weiss counts as a negative friend." Ruby said, turning back to her letter.
"Hey, that's still a TWO hundred percent increase." Onyxia said.
"There's no such things as negative friends! You just made three friend and one enemy!" Yang told her sister, only to be hit in the face with another pillow, this time looking like a dog, to the face. "Look, it's only been one day. Trust me; you've got friends all around you! You just haven't met them yet!" She assured her.
"She's right, Ruby. I know being in a new, strange place can be daunting, but if you stop worrying about all that can go wrong and instead focus on all the good that can from it, you may just find your worries were completely unfounded." Silver told her, earning a small smile from the younger girl.
The four girls noticed a candle being lit nearby, and the girl with the bow from earlier was seen leaning against a wall, reading her book. "That girl..." Ruby said as she recognized Blake.
"You know her?" Yang asked.
"Not really. She saw what happened this morning, but left before I could say anything." Ruby explained.
"Well, now's your chance!" Yang said as she grabbed Ruby's arm and lifted her up.
"Wait! What are you doing?!" Ruby cried out
Silver was about to remind them she was reading a book and likely didn't want to be disturbed, but she once again strangely felt herself drawn towards the girl and wanted to get to know her better as well, following them over.
The bow-wearing girl was reading her book, when she heard a disturbance and looked over the book to see Ruby unsuccessfully struggling against Yang's grip as she lead her sister over to the bookworm's spot before letting go.
"Hel-looooo!" Yang greeted in sing-song. "I believe you two may know each other?" Ruby asked.
"Aren't you... that girl that almost exploded?" The other girl asked.
"Uh, yeah! My name's Ruby! But you can just call me Crater..." Ruby began with an awkward smile, before becoming embarrassed. "Actually, you can just call me Ruby." She corrected.
"Okay." The bookworm said, going back in her book.
"What are you doing?" Yang whispered to Ruby.
"I don't know - help me!" Ruby whispered back, turning back to the bow-wearing girl with a smile.
But thankfully, Silver then stepped up as well, taking note of the book the girl was reading. "A Man with Two Souls. Most definitely an engaging read." She said.
The bow-wearing girl looked up in surprise at this. "Oh. Y-yeah, I'm really enjoying it. It really gets you invested in the man's journey." She agreed.
"Indeed. It's quite heart-breaking at times as one soul or the other starts to take over the man and try to snuff out not just the other soul, but the man himself, who he was and replace him with itself." Silver added.
The bookworm perked up at this and leaned forward. "I know, right?! It's so tragic! And you keep wondering just HOW he manages to keep the souls at bay and not lose his sense of self! It's... kind of inspiring, actually." She said.
"Oh, yeah... That's real lovely!" Yang said sarcastically.
"I'm Blake, by the way. Blake Belladonna." The bow-wearing girl said to the winged girl.
"Silver Imperia. Pleased to make your acquaintance." The former Elder Dragon said.
Ruby then took a step forward. "I love books. Yang used to read to me every night before bed. Stories of heroes and monsters... They're one of the reasons I want to be a Huntress!" She said.
Blake laughed a little. "And why is that? Hoping you'll live happily ever after?" She asked.
"Well, I'm hoping we all will. As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!" Ruby explained.
"A very noble idea." Silver praised.
"That's... very ambitious for a child." Blake said, before her smile turned into a frown. "Unfortunately, the real world isn't the same as a fairy tale." She warned.
"Well, that's why we're here! To make it better." Ruby declared.
"Oh, I am so proud of my baby sister!" Yang said as she hugged Ruby into the air.
Ruby kicked wildly out trying to get away from her sister. "Cut it out!" She snapped, punching Yang in the face, the forced sisterly bonding evolving into a dust cloud of fighting limbs and flying stars.
"If only fights with my sister had been so playful." Silver said somewhat sadly.
Blake laughed slightly at this. "Well, Ruby, Yang, Silver, it's a pleasure to ha-" She began.
Silver was about to try and calm the girl's down as Ruby trapped Yang's leg, before a familiar figure stormed up. "What in the world is going on over here?! Don't you realize some of us are trying to sleep?" Weiss demanded as she stomped up to the group in her white nightgown.
Weiss then realized who she was snapping at as Yang realized who was snapping at her. "Oh, not you again!" They both exclaimed at once.
"Shh! Guys, she's right! People are trying to sleep!" Ruby agreed with Weiss.
"Oh, now you're on my side?!" Weiss demanded.
"I was always on your side!" Ruby insisted.
"Yeah, what's your problem with my sister? She's only trying to be nice!" Yang demanded.
"She's a hazard to my health!" Weiss snapped.
"Your own hostility is a hazard to your health." Silver countered, while still trying to be civil. Blake, who rolled her eyes at the fight, simply closed her book, reached over to grab her candle and blew it out, sending the Ballroom into darkness for the rest of the night.
[1] The other three monster girls, the Beacon staff and Coco.
[2] You know, looking back... Where the hell was Blake going? She was walking AWAY from Beacon! Sure, Jaune and Ruby got lost, but they at least went TOWARDS the school, I'd assume.
[3] You know, when thinking of what Wisteria would wear, I only picked the hoodie because it was an image under "tough-looking clothes, I didn't actually plan this ahead of time. Funny how things just work sometimes, huh?
[4] I was thinking one or two of them would wear just oversized T-Shirts, but then remembered their tails would get in the way, so that wouldn't work. And it's a lot harder to put a big hole in a T-Shirt that won't go much further than your thighs than it is to put one in a nightgown that should reach at least your knees, if not your shins.
