Chapter 5 It's Time To Duel
It's been a week since the Legion had discovered Lyoko and promised to help.
With the upgrades Sean made to the whole place it was running smoother.
Right now the whole Factory was being inspected.
"Let's see here." Motoko said inspecting the supports.
"What exactly are ya'll doing?" Roman asked.
"Going to use the factory as a supply factory. Since this place became public Knowledge we need to keep people out so the best way to do that is to use the place." Sean said.
"How'd the parents take it?" Dom asked.
"Odd's parents were proud. Ulrich's father on the other hand was against it but I could tell it was because he didn't want to see him get hurt. I promised I would help him in his school work if he didn't get directly involved." Sean said.
"You mean using those helmets that transfer knowledge?" Brian asked.
"Yup. This way he's actually learning. Unlike forced intelligence this is far more safe." Sean said.
"And Jeremy's parents?" Tej asked.
"Proud as one could be." Sean said before seeing him with Alice making him grin. "And apparently Alice has a thing for him." Sean said making them chuckle.
"She's like what? Your age? 18?" Han asked.
"17 actually. And unlike her bastard Grandfather she's actually nice." Sean said.
"And have Super hearing you jackass." Alice said making him roll his eyes.
"How the hell is she so nice while her grandfather hates everyone else?" Tej asked.
"He lost just as much in the invasion as the old man did but unlike his older siblings he still preferred our ways." Sean said.
"But apparently wants us all dead." Giselle said.
"Yeah. We're keeping a close eye on him." Sean said.
"Nice place."
Sean turned looking up seeing a man his age with a 13 year old boy next to him. The Oldest had white skin with brown hair and blue eyes. While the young one had long black hair with white skin and dark purple eyes.
"Well, well. Seto and Mokuba Kaiba." Sean said.
"Hey, Sean. Long time no see." Mokuba said.
"More friends of yours?" Brian asked.
"Old ones just like Dom and his old crew." Sean said as they came down. "I wasn't expecting you guys." Sean said.
"When we heard you were here we decided to check the place out. I'm surprised you're taking an interest in this dump." Seto said.
"The factory is a decoy for whats under it." Dom said.
"You mean this Lyoko place?" Mokuba asked.
"Oh yeah. We're going to remodel the place to put it in use to keep people out." Sean said.
"I don't suppose you'd consider lending it to me." Seto said getting his attention.
"Now why in the hell would you want it?" Tej asked.
"Let me guess. Have plans to turn it into an Arena?" Sean asked amused.
"Arena for what?" Vince asked.
"Seto owns one of the most powerful companies from his universe. A gaming company that actually would surprise you." Sean said.
"What kind of games?" Brian asked making him smirk.
"Why don't I just show you." Seto said.
"Hold that thought." Sean said as his hand glowed before the objects around began to merge into some kind of stand.
"The hell is this?" Roman asked.
"Check it out." Mokuba said as Seto got on the other end.
"Watch this." Sean said as Seto placed a card down before a green one eyed Giant appeared and roared.
"OH SHIT!" Roman yelled jumping back in shock making Sean burst out laughing.
"Oh that never gets old." Sean laughed as did Mokuba.
"What the hell was that?" Roman asked.
"That is a duel monster. In their universe theres card game called Duel monsters. Originally just a simple card game Seto uses holograms to make it more exciting." Sean said.
"Oh this I gotta see." Brian said.
"You play?" Tej asked amused.
"I haven't played in a few years I'm kinda rusty. But the fact is this game is pretty popular. Tournaments, Contests, Cash prizes." Sean said.
"Cash prizes? Now this...This I like." Roman said.
"What part of money is gonna be useless in a few years don't you get?" Sean asked.
"Come on. What the hell's the point of working if you don't get paid?" Roman asked.
"What makes you think people will be working the way they do much longer anyway?" Seto asked.
"Say what?" Roman asked.
"Drones take care of the simplest tasks for us before the Merge. Add to the fact that their are billions of them means they can take care of everything we need them to do efficiently. And add to the fact that we can make everything we'd ever need in life with no issues also means no one would have to work for what they want. Basically people actually enjoying life. Think of it this way. Most problems come from people not having enough to pay bills and what not or greed for money. This solves that. Being able to make what you want at will stops most of that." Sean said.
"Oh." Roman said.
"Of course there will be places where people actually do wanna work. Within Government, Military and Science. Everything else is pretty easy." Sean said.
"I thought you were trying to get away from all that." Brian said.
"No I just wanted things to change to actually do something meaningful with our lives like now. Now the things from my universe like we're trying to instal now thats for everyone to make life better. But I also want us to do something meaningful like helping those in need." Sean said.
"Oh I get it." Brian said.
"So hows this game gonna fit into the factory?" Tej asked.
"I had plans to turn it into an Arena for people to use." Seto said.
"I don't think thats gonna work. We're trying to keep people out so they don't go looking for the super Computer." Hobbs said.
"Where is it anyway?" Mokuba asked.
"Follow me." Sean said leading them down.
Arriving through the Elevator they came to the Super Computer.
"Whoa." Mokuba said seeing it.
"Your handy work?" Seto asked.
"Do you really need to ask?" Sean asked making him smirk. "The Computer and everything else in this area has been heavily upgraded." Sean said as the Door opened up again as Jeramy and the others walked in.
"I kinda liked it better when there was less people." Odd said.
"Get used to it." Sean said.
Later
"So while the Factory is not available for the moment it doesn't mean it will remain so." Sean said.
"So once you get this girl you'll let my company have it?" Seto asked.
"Sure. I'm mostly keeping the computer operational not just to bring Aelita to the real world but to also find out who built it in the first place. After all it was already heavily advanced by your standards." Sean said.
"So you have no idea who made that thing?" Mokuba asked.
"Sadly no. We searched back from previous occupants but nothing came up. The Factory was abandoned decades ago." Sean said. (For those who don't know the Factory was based off a real Factory that was demolished called Renault and used in the series)
While this was going on Odd was looking up the card game Seto's company was based on.
"Wow. Look at all these." Odd said seeing various monsters.
"Oh brother. You're not actually gonna start playing that game are ya?" Jeramy asked making the others laugh.
"Why not. It sounds fun. I gotta say the Merge was probably the best thing ever if it didn't involve people dy..." Odd trailed off looking at Yumi.
"You don't have to tip toe around that. I'm past it." Yumi said looking at Sean.
"You don't blame him or anything do ya?" Ulrich asked.
"Hardly. Besides he wasn't even the one who did it anyway. His Great Grandfather did." Yumi said.
"What amazes me is the fact is Arthur is older than anything in the entire universe. Not even our originating universes are anywhere close that old." Jeramy said.
Meanwhile
At the Factory where the Stadium was an electric panel started sparking before a black mist came out and went to the stadium was before going inside.
Thats when it started glowing.
Meanwhile
"Oh man. How do I do this?" Odd asked trying to play the game.
"Oh no." Sean said.
"He's never gonna get this down." Seto said.
"Oh like you got it all down on your first try." Sean said making him snort.
Thats when they heard people scream in fear.
"Oh now what?" Tej asked.
Thats when a Duel monster appeared. The Same one Seto showed earlier.
"WHAT!" Seto yelled in shock.
"OH SHIT!" Roman yelled as he ran off as it tried to grab him before Hobbs shot it making it fall over with a hole in it's head.
"You thinking what I am?" Dom asked.
"XANA. The Stadium. XANA must have took control of it to make real life duel monsters." Sean said.
"But why?" Mokuba asked.
"Who cares? All I know is we gotta shut him down." Odd said.
Rushing back to the Factory they saw the Stadium transformed making lots of more monsters.
"Oh this is so not good." Yumi said.
"XANA has really gotten into the game." Odd said.
"Real funny. Lets go." Sean said as they went down before a new monster known as Cyber Solider came out and started shooting at them.
"YIKES!" Tej yelled taking cover. "WOW. I'm really starting to hate this game man." Tej said.
"Shut up and get moving." Sean said as they started getting blasted at again.
"GO!" Dom yelled as they original team along with Seto and Mokuba made it down.
Heading down to the scanners Sean and Yumi rushed in first.
"So how does this work?" Mokuba asked.
"Easy. They get scanned and then show up on Lyoko." Jeramy said.
"Lets go." Sean said as the two were scanned first.
Appearing on Lyoko in the Mountain sector they landed down before Ulrich and Odd came in next.
"Thats nice armor." Odd said.
"Thank you. Wheres Aelita?" Sean asked.
"She's just north of you." Jeramy said.
"Lets go." Ulrich said as they rushed off.
"Any chance we can get some backup?" Yumi asked.
"No. Dom and the others are still dealing with the Monsters upstairs. And the others are dealing with the others that were already made before we got here." Jeramy said.
Aelita panted as she rushed away from a squad of destroyers.
"Jeramy!" Aelita yelled.
"Hold on. Yumi and the others aren't far from you." Jeramy said.
Sean yelled as he blasted the rolling droids back as Aelita rushed to them.
"You good?" Sean asked.
"Yeah. Where are the others?" Aelita asked.
"Dealing with monsters that XANA brought to life from a card game." Odd said.
"Huh?" Aelita asked.
"Long story." Sean said as they rushed off.
Seto looked at the scanners feeling the place shake.
"Man. This XANA really hates people." Mokuba said.
"You have no idea." Jeramy said.
Sean and the group reached the tower seeing seven Battle droids along with XANA's version of Bane.
"So thats one of Batman's worst enemies. I can see why." Odd joked.
"Real funny." Sean said as they charged in.
Roman screamed as he almost got sliced.
"A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE NICE!" Roman screamed.
"Little busy here!" Hobbs said shooting another.
Seto glared before heading to the scanner.
"Seto? Where you going?" Mokuba asked.
"There. Clearly they need some help." Seto said.
"I'm coming with then." Mokuba said before they were scanned.
Sean growled as he fought against Bane.
"I could use some help." Sean said.
Thats when Bane got blasted back.
Sean looked seeing Seto in some unuque armor while Mokuba had cyber armor on. (Picture Seto as his Duelist of Roses outfit)
"Need a hand?" Seto asked amused.
"Very." Sean said as Mokuba started shooting the battle droids giving Aelita enough space to run to the tower.
Once in the Tower she deactivated it and the monsters XANA made vanished.
"What happened?" Brian asked.
"Aelita just deactivated the Tower. Now...Get ready for the return trip." Jeramy said as a bright flash engulfed everything.
Return to the Past
Everyone was in the Factory again.
"That was intense." Tej said.
"Like we said. XANA has it out for people. Using duel monsters to attack was nothing short of impressive." Jeramy said.
"We're gonna have to be careful about what we place in the factory from now on. Anything can give him an advantage." Hobbs said.
Seto was examining the Factory again like before.
"Still having plans for here?" Sean asked.
"Hmm. After seeing what XANA pulled it made me rethink that for the time being." Seto said.
"The dude is more clever than I gave him credit for. Using duel monsters of all things to attack the world. Thats something I never expected. Then again the Card game was based off something in ancient Egypt that had them nearly destroy the world once from what I have learned." Sean said.
"Oh please. You don't believe that nonsense do you?" Seto asked.
"Clearly you're not seeing whats in front of you. We've got people from multiple universes merged into one. A lot of them use magic or other forms of power most believed to be fantasy and yet here it is." Sean said making him raise an eyebrow.
"Fair enough." Seto said.
Meanwhile
XANA was not amused by how things had turned for him since he had hacked the Legion's data base on it's enemies.
At first he believed it would give him an edge against the original Lyoko warriors and finally have total victory over them.
But now he just made things worse for himself since victory now seemed completely beyond his grasp.
"Perhaps I should rethink this through." XANA said.
"I could help you with that."
XANA was shocked as a screen appeared before him showing a man who was more machine than human.
"And who are you?" XANA asked.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I am Overkill." Overkill said. (GI JOE sigma six)
"And what do you want?" XANA asked.
"Why to offer you a partnership my friend. You see your plans to use the Legion's enemies to aid you on your world was brilliant...But sadly you only ended up making things more complicated since the Legion tracked you down. Now you have to deal with four kids and the Legion themselves. But you are not alone." Overkill said.
"Meaning?" XANA asked curious.
"What if I were to offer you a partnership with my organization I work for that has also gained a new Ally called HYDRA. Together...We can achieve victory over the Legion." Overkill said.
Under Normal circumstances XANA would never work with humans. But considering he dug himself in he knew he needed to dig himself out of the hole he made by any means necessary.
"This organization you work for...What do you call it?" XANA asked.
"COBRA." Overkill said.
Authors note: Oh boy. It seems everyone is getting into alliances to fight the Legion. First Darkseid, Thanos and Vilgax. Now XANA, COBRA and HYDRA. Who's next? Find out later. I'm sorry I didn't update the last two nights but work has kicked my ass so much I was too dead tired to update. Now Next Chapter involves ending another war of machines. Now, time for the Harem List and yes it is bloody huge. Though there will be some missing since I plan to add them with others like David and Turok or because I like the cannon pairings in general.
