Sleep didn't come easy, and my alarm feeling too early and loud, but I still got up to take a quick shower and get to the train station on time, all the whilr feeling weird that All Might was riding the train with Bakugou and I when i finally realized that I forgot to eat breakfast.

"Why's he ridin'?" My blasty companion asked, and I shook my head. It was too weird to try and explain right now, and I was too tired.

"Hey, Bakugou, Kid. How're you?" Toshinori waved his left hand, a friendly smile on his face.

"I'll tell you later. It's a doozy." I mumbled, hiding my face behind my hands, trying to ignore the rumbling in my stomach for now.

Once the train stopped at our station, I wanted to run, but there was still immense respect for the man in the traincar that I stopped so he could walk alongside us.

"So, did you decide on which agency you're going with Bakugou, kid?" Toshinori asked, and it was slowly getting easier to call him that.

"Best Jeanist is the top hero who drafted me, so I'm goin' with him." He replied, looking sullen.

"A good hero, I'm sure he'll be able to teach you a great deal." Toshinori told him, turning his attention to me.

"What of you, Young Midoriya? Have you chosen who you'll be choosing?" He asked, and I sighed.

"Nope. I guess Gran Torino. If he can make you shake in fear, he's gotta be pretty tough, even for an old timer. I can always work with Sir Knighteye at a later time." I decided on the spot as we walked along.

"Seriously? You'd rather work for some washed-up old guy than Sir Knighteye, one of the few sidekicks All Mights ever had?" Bakugou asked, and I shook my head.

"Not really. But I know that name, like an old friend. I'll put my trust in that and hope for the best." And it took a moment before I realized how weird that sounded.

"I just wish you would stop saying odd shit." He told me, shoving his hands in his pockets as he walked a little faster.

"Me too, Kacchan, me too." I told him, getting a little laugh out of it.

Once we got close enough, we parted ways with Toshinori to let him transform, Bakugou putting an arm over my shoulder.

"Spill it nerd. What's with you and the skeleton?" Although it didn't sound like he was asking.

"Uh, it turns out my parents split up a year ago, and he's been dating my mom for a couple of months, and I just found out last night. She knows who he is and about my quirk, and there was just a lot that happened, and im so tired, man." I told him, and he pulled his arm off me.

"Oh. Even I don't have anything smart to say to that. All I can offer is my silent condolences." He told me, patting me on the shoulder.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for both of them. It's just so freaking weird." I groaned, hearing to class and taking my seat, laying my head on my desk.

"Midoriya, we should make sure everyone turns in their internship applications by the end of the day." Yaoyorozu told me from behind Mineta, the midget poking me with his pencil.

"I think he's dead." He told her, and I swatted his hand away, his writing utensil flying out his grip

"Hey, that's my only pencil!" He complained before jumping down from his desk and retrieving his pencil.

"Yaoyorozu, they have until tomorrow. Just because you and I are obsessive to the point of being OCD doesn't mean the others are. Cut them some slack." I managed to push through a yawn, quickly falling asleep before the bell, getting a few precious minutes of rest.

The rest of the day and the next day seemed to crawl, time moving slower than a snail covered in syrup.

At least I was rested now, my hero suitcase in hand as I talked with Iida in the train station. He'd been distant since his brother's attack.

"Iida!" I watched him stop, but not look back. "If it ever gets to be too much and you need to talk... just say something. We're your friends."

He turned, giving a weak smile. "Sure." And he walked off, leaving me wishing I'd said more to him, especially since eventually, I'd come to regret that day.

A hero who scared the pants off of All Might? He had to be an awesome guy.

"Yep... an awesome guy..." I muttered, looking up at the decrepit building in front of me, wondering if I had the right address as I knocked, waiting a moment before opening the door.

"I've come from U.A. high school... my name is Izuku Midoriya. Nice to meet...ah!" My eyes feel on the old man lying in a red puddle.

"AHHHHHHHH, HE'S DEAD!" I screamed, backing up a couple of steps.

"I'M ALIVE!" He screamed, lifting his head.

"HE'S ALIVE!" I echoed, letting out a relived breath.

"To slip and fall while carrying ketchup covered sausage links. How clumsy of me. And who are you!?" I was still a little freaked out, but I could speak. " I'm Izuku Midoriya. I've come from U.A."

"What!?"

"I'm Izuku Midoriya!!"

"And who are you!?"

Crap. He was All Mights teacher, so I knew he'd be really old, but no one was checking up on this guy? No family or friends? He couldn't even get lunch without falling.

"I'd like to eat lunch." He told me, and I made my decision.

"Toshinori!" He called, looking straight at me.

"That's not my name, sir. E-Excuse me. I have to make a phone call." I told him, heading for the door. If he was in this kind of state, All Might should know.

"Fire off an attack! Show me your One-For-All! I'd like to know to what degree you can control it." He told me, suddenly aware and in the moment.

"Are you faking being senile?" I asked, looking back to see him going through my costume case.

"Nice costume. Put 'er on and come at me!" He suddenly looked up at me.

"Who are you again?"

"Tch, I need to fully understand this quirk and get stronger. All Might doesn't have much longer, so I need someone who's willing to actually train me. That's why... I don't have time to keep messing with you, sir!" I told him, heading for the door as he moved faster than me, faster than Iida or anyone else I'd ever seen, slamming the door shut.

"Then I'll tell you once more. Come at me, you neophyte. The way you used it at the sports festival... that justice obsessed fool All Might sure is a novice when it comes to teaching. Shall we begin, my ward?" He asked, and I knew now he'd been faking earlier. But the way he phrased things and the playing dumb. This was definitely All Mights teacher.

I didn't hesitate, moving as fast as I could and dodging his bouncing, or maybe it was something else. Either way, I didn't want to feel him ram into me as fast as he was going.

I watched the way he moved, grabbing his leg and holding him at arms length.

"Not bad, kid. You can keep up with an old geezer. Toshinoris' training has paid off tremendously." He told me, and I set him down carefully.

"That said, he can't watch over you properly, so that means I gotta do it. So put on your costume." He demanded, and I quickly obeyed, reading the owners manual that came with my costume. They'd modded my costume to be stronger and cooler, adding goggles that would help me see through my smoke bombs. Turns out the support world is full of Mei Hatsumes.

"You can use a good bit of power, but full power for you right now isn't your limit. I'm going to push you until you puke. Or I would, but you may notice I'm an old man, I can't go like I used to. That's why we're taking a trip. Come on, kid." He told me, straightening his costume.

"Population's going down around here, so the crime rate is low. The reason there're so many hero agencies in the big city is cuz they've got plenty of criminals to deal with. The denser the population, the more trouble there is. So a place like shibuya, minor crimes are a dime a dozen. It'll be good training, learning to take on different types of quirks and criminals." He was wise, but then again, he was probably four or five times older than me, maybe more. He probably had wisdom to spare, like how he had thought to call a cab for us already.

"Shibuya?! No way. I'm gonna walk around that classy neighborhood in costume?!" I asked, getting in after him.

"You only get to wear it because you're with me, a hero. Just be glad you're gonna get to strut your stuff in public!" He pointed out, the two of us riding in silence until we got to the bullet train, and I pulled out my phone, checking on my friends. Most of them were too busy with their own internships to reply, but I got a few positive responses from some of my less busy classmates.

I didn't think it'd be so easy to find a criminal but here waa a man with an industrial style fan for a head, blowing air hard enough that getting close to him was difficult, a concentrated tornado tearing up buildings and putting people in danger.

"I'll handle the civilians! You take him down!" Gran Torino instructed, the two of us taking off to different sides, him to the left, me to the right.

I bounced off the side of a pole, building the power in my legs and laughing myself directly into the mind tornado, using my black tendrils to hold onto signs and light poles, slowly walking closer, building power in my arm before punching and throwing him backwards for a moment, his tornado pointed upwards while the villain got his balance.

In the few seconds he wasn't blowing directly at me, I charged, hitting him in the jaw, or at least what I assumed was his jaw, knocking him out.

"Such a waste. A powerful quirk like this could make you an A-list hero if you wanted." I sighed, Gran Torino putting handcuffs on him while I started to help clean up.

"What are you doing? We have clean-up crews for that kind of stuff." He told me, but what of hero just left a mess in his wake?

"Yeah, but I am here, and since I am, and there's no emergency happening around us right now, there's no reason not to help fix as much as I can." I replied, and he nodded.

"That's right. A hero is more than someone who dishes out a butt-whoopin. We're public servants, doing whatever we can to help." He hopped up on a chair, watching me clean up whatever I could.

The rest of my first day, and all of my second, were spent fighting crime and helping clean up. It wasn't glamorous work, and it wasn't always as easy as the fan guy, but it was worthwhile knowing people were safe. All of that changed on our train ride to Shibuya on the third day, when an announcement came through that we'd be making an emergency stop, just in time for a hero to get thrown through the side of our car, a Nomu crawling in.

I charged at it while Gran Torino did the same.

"I know these things. Multiple quirks and very powerful. Be careful!" I called, latching onto it with black whip and checking below me, throwing it into the empty street below, right onto a street sign, impaling it through the stomach.

"What the hell, kid!? Heroes don't kill!" Gran Torino screamed, but my eyes were on the Nomu that pulled itself off the sign and began to heal up.

"The last one I fought could go toe-to-toe with All Might. These things... I'm not even sure if they're still human, but I'm not taking chances. The second I can, I'm ripping its brain out." Those words would shape me more than i could ever know, rushing at the monster with intent to kill.
